Abstract:HRL Laboratories is part of an intense research and development effort to leverage the enormously advanced infrastructure of Si CMOS and the high performance of diverse electronic and photonic devices in an integrated technology. While System in a Package (SiP) and System on a Chip (SoC) approaches involve chips produced in their native foundries and subsequent integration using hybridization or multi-chip modules, HRL has pioneered approaches where partially completed wafers of diverse technologies are integrated using highly intimate placement and heterogeneous interconnects to enable transistor-level integration. Novel ICs have been produced in InP BiCMOS and CMOS memristor-integrated technologies. Unprecedented design flexibility is being enabled with intimate integration of GaN HEMTs together with InP and CMOS.

Abstract:I am truly honored and excited to lead the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON BIOMEDICAL CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS (TBioCAS) as its new Editor-in-Chief (EiC) starting in January 2024. I am also grateful to my colleagues Prof. Arindam Basu at the City University of Hong Kong and Prof. Hadi Heidari at the University of Glasgow who have agreed to join the journal's leadership team as the new Associate Editor-in-Chief (AEiC) and the AEiC Digital Media, respectively. Arindam will be responsible for organizing Special Issues and soliciting review manuscripts for the journal, while Hadi will work on expanding the journal's digital footprint on various social media.

Abstract:After dedicating 5 years as an Associate Technical Editor and 2 years as an Associate Editor-in-Chief, I am truly honored and humbled to assume the leadership role for the next chapter of IEEE Communications Magazine. I have had the distinct pleasure of collaborating with the esteemed past Editor-in-Chiefs, Dr. Antonio Sanchez-Esguevillas, Dr. Tarek S. El-Bawab, and Dr. Osman Gebizlioglu, over the past seven years. Their dedication and hard work in upholding the quality and integrity of IEEE Communications Magazine have been inspiring. Thanks to the strong leadership and great efforts of the past Editor-in-Chiefs, editors, reviewers, readers, and ComSoc publications staff, IEEE Communications Magazine has reached a great achievement with an impact factor of 11.2 as of 2023. As we move forward, building upon the solid foundation laid by our past Editor-in-Chiefs and editors, I plan to continue elevating the magazine's intellectual quality, scientific impact, and visibility. More particularly, I plan to further focus on enhancing the magazine's quality, impact, and influence, keeping the magazine at the forefront of the communications field; promoting diversity and inclusion across various aspects, including technical areas, industry, academia, geography, gender, seniority, and more; and increasing more industry engagement in magazine's contents, editorship, authorship, and readership. Abstract:It’s a great honor and privilege for me to assume the role of the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology (TCSVT), which started in January 2024. I have been involved in the editorial services of TCSVT for over 23 years in various capacities. I attended my first TCSVT editorial board meeting at ISCAS 2000, and since then I served as an Associate Editor of TCSVT for four terms, working with Editor-in-Chiefs, Prof. Weiping Li, Prof. Thomas Sikora, Prof. Chang Wen Chen, Dr. Hamid Gharavi, and Prof. Dan Schonfeld. I also served as a Guest Editor of TCSVT three times and served as the Associate Editor-in-Chief of TCSVT under Editor-in-Chief Prof. Feng Wu from January 2020 to December 2021. Conducting services for TCSVT has been an important academic activity across my whole career. Therefore, I look forward to this exciting yet challenging opportunity to lead TCSVT to the next level.

Abstract:I started my term as Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of the IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering in January 2018. It has been a great privilege to have had the opportunity to serve this research community for the past six years, but it is now time to say farewell. When I started my term, I knew very little of what to expect. It has indeed been an interesting learning journey for me, and a rewarding one. I have had the opportunity to work closely with many Associate Editors, Guest Editors, editorial staff, authors, and reviewers over these years. I would like to acknowledge their support, without which the journal would not be where it is today.
