Abstract:This paper addresses the problem of robust stability for quaternion-valued neural networks (QVNNs) with leakage delay, discrete delay and parameter uncertainties. Based on Homeomorphic mapping theorem and Lyapunov theorem, via modulus inequality technique of quaternions, some sufficient conditions on the existence, uniqueness, and global robust stability of the equilibrium point are derived for the delayed QVNNs with parameter uncertainties. Furthermore, as direct applications of these results, several sufficient conditions are obtained for checking the global robust stability of QVNNs without leakage delay as well as complex-valued neural networks (CVNNs) with both leakage and discrete delays. Finally, two numerical examples are provided to substantiate the effectiveness of the proposed results.

Abstract:The stability and stabilization problems of fractional-order memristive neural networks with time-varying delays are addressed. Based on Jensen-based integral inequalities, novel delay-dependent and order-dependent stability conditions for fractional-order memristive neural networks with time-varying delays are established. The proposed stability criterion is in terms of linear matrix inequalities and is easy to be verified and applied. Then, a linear feedback control law that stabilizes fractional-order memristive neural networks with time-varying delays is designed by utilizing the obtained stability conditions. Two numerical examples are used to illustrate the effectiveness and less conservativeness of the proposed results.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to analysing the global Mittag-Leffler stability of fractional-order quaternion-valued neural networks with piecewise constant arguments and impulses. The quaternion direct method is adopted to address the considered model avoiding any decomposition. By utilising the matrix inequality technique and Lyapunov direct method, some sufficient conditions to guarantee the global Mittag-Leffler stability of equilibrium point for the considered model are obtained in the form of quaternion-valued linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). To certify the validity of the derived result, a numerical example is presented.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to investigating discrete-time fractional-order delayed quaternion-valued neural networks (DFDQNNs) by utilizing direct quaternion approach. Firstly, a novel lemma and its two corresponding corollaries have been proposed for estimating nabla fractional difference of the quaternion-valued Lyapunov function. Then, the existence and uniqueness of equilibrium point for DFDQNNs is proved by constructing a new quaternion-valued contraction mapping. In addition, by means of our designed Lyapunov functions and the effective feedback controller as well as neoteric nabla difference inequalities, some sufficient criteria have been obtained to ensure the global Mittag–Leffler stability and Mittag–Leffler synchronization of DFDQNNs, respectively. Finally, some numerical examples are provided to verify the yielded results.

Abstract:ABSTRACT This article focuses on the input‐to‐state stability (ISS) issue of quaternion‐valued memristive networks. Employing the quaternion norm tool and the Lyapunov method, two improved conclusions are developed for the continuous networks. After that, via the semidiscretization technique, a new discrete model is designed, and its ISS performance is discussed and subsequently recur to a nonlinear scalarization approach. Less conservative results are obtained since the nonlinear scalarization approach makes the quaternion interval meaningful. Simulations are presented to verify the validity of the outcomes.

Abstract:In this paper, quasi-synchronization of discrete-time fractional-order quaternion-valued memristive neural networks (DTFQMNNs) with time delays and uncertain parameters is investigated. Firstly, some related preliminaries are introduced and two new inequalities are obtained based on nabla fractional difference, quaternion theory and nabla h -Laplace transform. Then, a quaternion-valued controller with time delay is designed to realize quasi-synchronization goal, and some sufficient criteria are derived to guarantee quasi-synchronization of DTFQMNNs by using our created inequalities and some analysis techniques. Finally, a numerical example is provided to verify the correctness of our theoretical results.

Abstract:This paper discusses the problem of Mittag‐Leffler stability and synchronization for discrete‐time fractional‐order delayed quaternion valued neural networks (DTFODQVNN). Firstly, a criterion is achieved to ensure the existence and uniqueness of the equilibrium point (EP) of DTFODQVNN through applying Brouwer's fixed‐point theory. Secondly, based on a Lyapunov function and a new discrete fractional inequality, the stability condition is established by employing a linear matrix inequality approach. In addition, by constructing a proper controller, drive–response synchronization is investigated by means of deploying Lyapunov direct method (LDM). Finally, two examples with simulations test the correctness of the acquired results. Moreover, image encryption is considered as an application based on the chaotic DTFODQVNN.

Abstract:The quandary posed by the conflicting goals of valid selection and a diverse workforce is one of the most perplexing problems facing the practice of personnel selection today. To help address the issue, the article presents a comprehensive method and a related computer program to estimate the expected adverse impact and the expected quality of the majority, the minority and the total selected work force. Compared to previous related procedures, the present method is much more general as it can address situations with both multiple predictor and multiple criterion dimensions. In addition, the expected effects can be computed given the overall selection ratio and the estimates are derived analytically and, hence, are accurate. To assist the selection practitioner, the method is made available as a free download from the Internet.

Abstract:This paper discusses a type of mixed-delay quaternion-valued neural networks (QVNNs) under impulsive and stochastic disturbances. The considered QVNNs model are treated as a whole, rather than as complex-valued neural networks (NNs) or four real-valued NNs. Using the vector Lyapunov function method, some criteria are provided for securing the mean-square exponential stability of the mixed-delay QVNNs under impulsive and stochastic disturbances. Furthermore, a type of chaotic QVNNs under stochastic and impulsive disturbances is considered using a previously established stability analysis method. After the completion of designing the linear feedback control law, some sufficient conditions are obtained using the vector Lyapunov function method for determining the mean-square exponential synchronization of drive–response systems. Finally, two examples are provided to demonstrate the correctness and feasibility of the main findings and one example is provided to validate the use of QVNNs for image associative memory.

Abstract:This paper analyzes the stability of fractional-order neural networks (FNNs) without and with delay by the fractional Lyapunov direct method and the fractional Razumikhin-type theorem, respectively. S-procedure is applied to handle the nonlinear constraints to obtain a wider parameter selection of the systems. For FNNs without delay, the improved less conservative conditions of the existence and uniqueness of the equilibrium point and the global Mittag-Leffler stability are all derived in the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Moreover, an LMI-based uniform stability condition of FNNs with time delay is established, which simplifies and extends some previous work. Finally, the validity of the presented results is indicated by some numerical examples.

Abstract:This study addresses the issue of nonfragile state estimation for memristor-based fractional-order neural networks with hybrid randomly occurring delays. Considering the finite bandwidth of the signal transmission channel, quantitative processing is introduced to reduce network burden and prevent signal blocking and packet loss. In a real-world setting, the designed estimator may experience potential gain variations. To address this issue, a fractional-order nonfragile estimator is developed by incorporating a logarithmic quantizer, which ultimately improves the reliability of the state estimator. In addition, by combining the generalized fractional-order Lyapunov direct method with novel Caputo–Wirtinger integral inequalities, a lower conservative criterion is derived to guarantee the asymptotic stability of the augmented system. At last, the accuracy and practicality of the desired estimation scheme are demonstrated through two simulation examples.

First, new criteria for the existence of the equilibrium point (EP) are delivered by contraction mapping principle. Then, a new Lyapunov function described with one‐norm form is imported for quasi‐stabilization/synchronization of the system. Finally, two numerical examples containing simulations are given to demonstrate the effectiveness.

Abstract:The existence of multiple exponentially stable equilibrium states and periodic solutions is investigated for Hopfield-type quaternion-valued neural networks (QVNNs) with impulsive effects and both time-dependent and distributed delays. Employing Brouwer's and Leray-Schauder's fixed point theorems, suitable Lyapunov functionals and impulsive control theory, sufficient conditions are given for the existence of 16n attractors, showing a substantial improvement in storage capacity, compared to real-valued or complex-valued neural networks. The obtained criteria are formulated in terms of many adjustable parameters and are easily verifiable, providing flexibility for the analysis and design of impulsive delayed QVNNs. Numerical examples are also given with the aim of illustrating the theoretical results.
Almost periodic quasi-projective synchronization of delayed fractional-order quaternion-valued neural networks

Abstract:This paper examines the issue of almost periodic quasi-projective synchronization of delayed fractional-order quaternion-valued neural networks. First, using a direct method rather than decomposing the fractional quaternion-valued system into four equivalent fractional real-valued systems, using Banach's fixed point theorem, according to the basic properties of fractional calculus and some inequality methods, we obtain that there is a unique almost periodic solution for this class of neural network with some sufficient conditions. Next, by constructing a suitable Lyapunov functional, using the characteristic of the Mittag-Leffler function and the scaling idea of the inequality, the adequate conditions for the quasi-projective synchronization of the established model are derived, and the upper bound of the systematic error is estimated. Finally, further use Matlab is used to carry out two numerical simulations to prove the results of theoretical analysis.

Abstract:The stochastic disturbances are common in real world and usually cause significant influence to engineering system. In this work, the stochastic disturbance is introduced into the quaternion-valued memristive neural networks (QVMNNs). The exponential input-to-state stabilization (EITSS) problem of stochastic QVMNNs is investigated. In order to be more effective and less costly in real applications, an event-triggered control strategy is adopted. The original QVMNNs are separated into four equivalent real-valued NNs by using Hamilton rule. Then, by using the Lyapunov functional approach and stochastic analysis technique, novel sufficient conditions for mean square EITSS of stochastic QVMNNs are derived. Moreover, it is proved that Zeno behavior will not take place in our event-triggered control method. Thus, the mean square EITSS problem of stochastic QVMNNs is solved in this work with less control cost. Lastly, simulation is performed to manifest the correctness of the theorem.

Abstract:The Mittag–Leffler stability and stabilization of delayed fractional-order memristive neural networks(DFMNNs) are investigated in this paper. First, two new fractional Halanay inequalities are established by solving two fractional-order non-autonomous differential inequalities. Next, by using the proposed fractional Halanay inequalities, a novel Razumikhin-type theorem for Mittag–Leffler stability of delayed fractional-order systems is presented, which is an extension of the so-called Razumikhin theorem for integer-order delayed differential systems. Applying the Razumikhin-type theorem to the DFMNNs, several Mittag–Leffler stability and stabilization criteria are obtained. Finally, the validity of the proposed results is shown by two numerical examples.

Abstract:At present, the theory and application of fractional-order neural networks remain in the exploratory stage. We study the asymptotic stability of fractional-order neural networks with Riemann-Liouville (R-L) derivatives. For non-delayed and delayed systems, we propose an asymptotic stability criterion based on the combination of the Lyapunov method and linear matrix inequality (LMI) method. The highlights include the following: (1) for fractional-order neural networks with time delay, the existence and uniqueness of solutions are proven by using matrix analysis theory and contraction mapping theorem, and (2) based on the unique solution, a suitable Lyapunov functional is constructed. Based on the inequality theorem and LMI method, two sets of asymptotic stability criteria for fractional-order neural networks are proven, which avoids the difficulty of solving the fractional derivative by the Leibniz law. Finally, the results are verified using numerical simulations.

Abstract:The stability problem of fractional-order neural networks in consideration of time-varying delay is addressed by utilizing Lyapunov functional approach in this paper. Firstly, a class of novel Lyapunov-Krasovskii functions are designed to deal with the time-varying delay terms, which reduces the conservatism of the stability criteria. In addition, to estimate the fractional-order derivative of the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functions, a novel free-matrix-based fractional-order integral inequality is then established, which encompasses the Wirtinger one and leads to tractable linear matrix inequality criteria. Then, based on the designed adaptive control and the proposed Lyapunov-Krasovskii functions, some stability criteria depending on time-varying delay information and fractional-order α are deduced. Finally, numerical simulation shows that the presented approach can significantly reduce the conservatism of the existing results and has a broader application prospect.
