Abstract:In order to meet the high-precision request of plastic products,reduce costs and energy lost of the injection molding machine,this paper studied injection molding system of closed-loop control system controlled by a servo proportional valve,established the nonlinear model considering the valve flow-pressure nonlinear,injection cylinder volume changing and the polymer melting flow characteristics,provided fuzzy PID control method fitting the system.With the Matlab/Simulink platform,established a simulate model.The result proved the feasibility and effectiveness of the closed-loop control system and control method,compared to the conventional PID control,this control strategy significantly reduced the static error of the system,greatly improved the tracking results of the injection speed,and effectively helped to improve products' repeat precision.

Abstract:To face the increasingly serious energy crisis, how to develop high-precision products with better energy-saving characteristics by injection molding machines is one of the main research directions in the industry of plastic molding. This paper presents a new energy-saving design of servo injection molding system with servo motor-driving fixed pump and servo solenoid valve. Such a structure can guarantee the manufacturing precision and lower the cost. In the study, a Fuzzy-PID controller for the packing pressure in the injection process was designed based on the mathematical model which was established and revised according to the new system. Additionally, numerical examples are presented by Matlab. Results showed that the new Fuzzy-PID controller is able to reduce the error of packing pressure tracking effectively. Furthermore, the new designed system is good-robust and more stable than the traditional PID controller.

Abstract:The researched hydraulic drive system for cutting disc of a shield TBM is a kind of close-loop, volumetric speed control hydraulic system. In the system, two large, HD control, variable displacement pumps drive eight variable displacement hydraulic motors. The control of the pumps and motors in the system is realized through an integrated electro-hydraulic control module. The module consists of proportional relief valve and power limit valve to realize proportional control and constant power control on the variable displacement pumps. Constant power control principle of the multiple drive pump hydraulic system is analyzed. Adjustment parameter for power limit valve is calculated. AMEsim simulation model of the hydraulic system is established and basic characteristics of the system are analyzed. The simulation analysis shows that the control system can satisfy the design requirements.

Abstract:The proportional pressure control of water hydraulic system for water-assisted injection molding (WAIM) is investigated through modeling and simulation. WAIM is an innovative process to mold plastic parts with hollow sections. A water hydraulic system is designed for WAIM and a differential pressure control strategy is provided to regulate the water injection pressure, by a proportional relief valve. An accumulator and a pressure cylinder are applied in the system and modeled in MATLAB. The load characteristic is analyzed and the coupling relationship between load pressure and flow rate is approximately simulated. Based on the variable parameter model with linearization, open-loop and closed-loop control with multi-point feedback are investigated Integral compensation and PI control are used with slope control of injection pressure. In addition, the influence of load characteristic is also investigated. Results of the simulation show that the closed-loop control contributes to the stability and disturbance resistance performance under various load characteristics.

Abstract:A novel water hydraulic system was developed based on the differential pressure control and application of accumulator and pressure booster for water-assisted injection molding(WAIM).Through the analysis on work cycle and load characteristic of WAIM,the proportional control system was designed and modeled in MATLAB.The static and dynamic characteristics were investigated by simulation and experiments.Results show that the water proportional pressure relief valve is the key component in this system.Nonlinearity and hysteresis of the water proportional hydraulic valves may lead to oscillation and poor accuracy.The linearity and steady tracking accuracy can be improved by closed-loop control with integral compensation.But the output pressure of the system is inclined to serious oscillation due to hysteresis of components.Feed forward compensation on the nonlinearity of large hysteresis needs to be investigated in the future work.

Abstract:According to the poor packing pressure control accuracy of the traditional injection molding machines,this paper presents a new injection system using servo motor-driving fixed pump which can provide different speed with the given injection process.The mathematical models were established based on non-Newtonian fluid dynamics for the hydraulic system and the viscous force of melted plastic between the barrel and screw.Based on the theoretical analysis,a new fuzzy self-tuning(FST) method was proposed which combined the advantages of both the fuzzy control and the self-tuning control.The experimental data with packing pressure control showed that compared with the traditional PID algorithm,the FST algorithm has better performance with slighter overshooting,quicker response,shorter transient time and better control accuracy.

Abstract:The reciprocating pumps are widely used for transporting fluid in oil field. The flow pulsation and pressure fluctuation in the conventional reciprocating pump with short stroke, high speed and simple harmonic motion of piston driven by crank-connecting rod mechanism are inevitable. For reducing the flow and pressure pulsation, a hydraulic reciprocating pump with the GPCM control by means of normal on-off valve is designed. In order to improve the overall pump performances and life span, fault analysis and optimized design of the pump valve are completed. The mathematical model of the asymmetric cylinder system with PCM valve control used in the hydraulic reciprocating pump is built. The digital simulation about the control system is done, and the result shows that the pulsation of pump discharge flow is improved greatly.

Abstract:The load characteristics and control of water hydraulic system for water-assisted injection molding (WAIM) are investigated through modeling and simulation. WAIM is an innovative process to mold plastic parts with hollow sections, coming with big advantages: high production efficiency and quality at low cost. The load characteristic is complicated owing to physical properties of polymer, distribution of temperature, flow rate and water channel geometry etc. The load pressure and flow rate are investigated with CFD simulation. An accumulator and a supercharger are applied in the water hydraulic system which is modeled in MATLAB and developed in laboratory. A differential pressure control strategy is provided to regulate the water injection pressure by a proportional relief valve. PI control is used and the steady-state error of step response can be reduced close to zero with integral compensation in closed-loop control. Finally, slope control of injection pressure is studied based on the developed system in simulation. The aim of this study is to improve the control process of WAIM based on the new design and differential pressure control. In addition, this provides an application and practice of water hydraulic proportional control technology.

Abstract:Energy consumption and temperature rise are challenging in traditional high-power hydraulic pump/motor loading systems. This study develops a novel loading system configuration where energy can be regenerated by mechanical compensation. A compound loading method is proposed to implement static loading with displacement control and dynamic loading with valve control, respectively. This method combines the high energy-regeneration capability of the displacement control and the fast dynamic response of the valve control. Pressure controllers are designed based on system modeling and characteristics analysis. For static loading, a proportional–integral–derivative controller is employed, and the variation of rotational speed is taken into consideration to reduce overshoot and oscillation. For dynamic loading, an off-line learning method is developed by using least square calibration to keep the relief flow rate at a low level without flow meters. An experimental setup of a 300-kW-class loading system is manufactured, and experiments in various loading modes are performed. The results show that the designed system and controllers have accurate pressure tracking performance and low energy consumption.

Abstract:Due to the increasing demand for large-tonnage construction machinery, the manufacturers call for a reliable and inexpensive proportional control valve with large flow capacity. In this work, a novel throttle poppet valve based on hydraulic-feedback principle has been studied comprehensively and optimized to meet the requirements of the construction machinery. A detailed and precise mathematical model has been developed and validated through experiments. According to the model, basic status of the valve under different working conditions has been analyzed, and the impacts of the parameters on the performances of response speed and the pressure stiffness have been studied through the root locus method. To find the optimal parameters suitable for construction machinery, an optimization based on non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II was carried out, and the performances have been significantly improved. Finally, by adopting the analysis on the parameters and the optimization results, guidelines for designing the hydraulic-feedback proportional valve in various sizes are presented.

Abstract:Since the injection velocity controller for the energy-saving servo drive system is essential, new type energy-saving servo system is becoming one of the hot development directions of injection molding machines. However the nonlinearity and irregular changes of load in the actual injection molding process makes injection speed control complicated. In this paper, an energy-saving servo injection control system using fuzzy control theory based on the re-establishment mathematical model of servo motor-driving fixed pump is presented, including the inputs/outputs of the system and their membership functions and the fuzzy control rule bank. The simulation results according to the parameters of Haitian plastics machinery indicated that the fuzzy controller can effectively reduce injection velocity tracking error. Additionally the system is good-robust compared with the traditional PID controller.

Abstract:In hydraulic system of injection machine, electro-hydraulic proportional flow valve is used to change complex variable pump output flow and power in order to adapt to load change and energy saving.In this paper ,it introduces the working principle of electro-hydraulic proportional flow valve and how control the complex variable pump. Mathematical modeling of proportional flow valve is built and simulations based on Matlabsimulink software is done. It analyses dynamic characteristics of complex variable pump in different electricity. The results are helpful in improving the pump efficiency and response,and they provide theoretical basis for energy saving.

Comparative Study on Energy Efficiency of the Electro-hydraulic Control System in Injection Molding Machine

Abstract:In the same injection molding machine,the theoretical analysis and experimental study on energy efficiency are done by using five different electro-hydraulic control strategies to process the same products,which five different control strategies are respectively induction motor driven constant pump,variable speed induction motor driven constant pump,induction motor driven variable displacement pump,variable speed induction motor driven variable displacement pump and AC servo motor driven constant pump.At first the power transmission mathematical models of motor and pump are established and the energy curves are drawn in the different control circuit.The power consumptions of the hydraulic system and the motor drive system are compared and analyzed,when the injection molding machine works in the packing and cooling conditions.The research results confirm that: In the part-load and no-load conditions the large overflow and throttle losses and low efficiency exist in induction motor driven constant pump system.On this basis variable speed control is introduced and implemented by enveloping the system required flow,so the motor power consumption is reduced and the efficiency is improved and the energy efficiency nearly equals by comparing with the induction motor driven variable displacement pump system.In the induction motor driven variable displacement pump system,the overflow losses are completely eliminated,however the big motor idling loss still exits.On this basis variable speed control is introduced to the motor output power and the hydraulic load matching,and to further improve the energy efficiency of 26.5%.The research also shows that the energy efficiency of the AC servo motor driven constant pump system is the highest,and can save energy 88% by comparing with induction motor driven constant pump,and the system has simple structure and good dynamic performance.

Abstract:This paper researched and developed a servo motor controller with a set of nonlinear fuzzy control strategy for pressure and flow, for the AC servo motor in electro-hydraulic hybrid injection molding machine, in order to improve the efficiency of the electro-hydraulic hybrid type injection molding machine and reduce its power consumption. The experiment showed that this servo motor controller can realize the output flow adapt to the demand of the load automatically. Compared with the traditional injection molding machine, this injection molding has obvious energy saving effect, it can enhance the response speed and repeat precision, realize precision injection molding.

Abstract:In order to improve the power control flexibility of axial piston double pump and reduce energy consumption, a cross power control mechanism of double pump is developed. Comparing with the traditional summation power control and individual power control methods, the cross power control can distribute the power into two different individual pumps according to the sum of operating pressure of the two pumps. A virtual prototype of displacement adjusting mechanism of the double pump was established to analyze the control flexibility and energy saving ability of the cross power control. With this prototype model, the power distributions were calculated and analyzed at different operating pressures. Besides, the sensing control system of negative load was also simulated by the model as an additional function. And both the experiment results and simulation results were used to prove the performance of summation power control. It is concluded form the simulation and experimental analysis that the cross-power control has advantages in control flexibility, power distribution and energy-saving ability.

Abstract:The independent metering approach makes the two chamber pressure states of the hydraulic actuator completely controllable, which offers the opportunity for energy conservation by reducing the working pressure. However, there still remains a great deal of throttling losses since the entire flow rate is throttling controlled with the valves. In order to avoid throttling losses, the direct pump controlled system might be an option, but the relatively slow dynamic response restricts its application in occasions with response and precision demands. To realize further energy conservation and simultaneous high precision tracking performance, this paper proposes a brand new hardware configuration which integrates the direct pump control, independent metering, and energy reuse methods and takes advantages of their respective strengths. The adaptive robust control approach is applied to deal with the nonlinear control problems. Comparative simulations are done with the focuses on energy consumption and tracking performance.

Abstract:In this paper, a self-learning control stratagem based on digital control is put forward to compensate the variable dead-zone of electro-hydraulic proportional direction valves. Experiments show that the positioning accuracy together with the anti-disturbance ability and the steadiness of the electro-hydraulic proportional positioning system is improved considerably. Being used in real-time control system, the application of electro-hydraulic proportional system is widened in the field of high accurate positioning.

Abstract:Water-assisted injection molding (WAIM), a newly developed fluid-assisted injection molding technology has drawn more and more attentions for the energy saving, short cooling circle time and high quality of products. Existing research for the process of WAIM has shown that the pressure control of the injecting water is mostly important for the WAIM. However, the proportional pressure control for the WAIM system is quite complex due to the existence of nonlinearities in the water hydraulic system. In order to achieve better pressure control performance of the injecting water to meet the requirements of the WAIM, the proportional pressure control of the WAIM system is investigated both numerically and experimentally. A newly designed water hydraulic system for WAIM is first modeled in AMEsim environment, the load characteristics and the nonlinearities of water hydraulic system are both considered, then the main factors affecting the injecting pressure and load flow rate are extensively studied. Meanwhile, an open-loop model-based compensation control strategy is employed to regulate the water injection pressure and a feedback proportional integrator controller is further adopted to achieve better control performance. In order to verify the AMEsim simulation results WAIM experiment for particular Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) parts is implemented and the measured experimental data including injecting pressure and flow rate results are compared with the simulation. The good coincidence between experiment and simulation shows that the AMEsim model is accurate, and the tracking performance of the load pressure indicates that the proposed control strategy is effective for the proportional pressure control of the nonlinear WAIM system. The proposed proportional pressure control strategy and the conclusions drawn from simulation and experiment contribute to the application of water hydraulic proportional control and WAIM technology.
