Abstract:(1) Background: The developmental model describes possible mechanisms that could impact the trajectory of children and adolescents’ health behaviors related to obesity; however, few data are available that support this model in the adolescent population. This study investigated the associations among motor competence (MC), moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA), perceived motor competence (PMC), and aerobic fitness in children and adolescents and the mediating and moderating effects of PMC, aerobic fitness, and weight status on the MC–MVPA relationship. (2) Methods: Participants included 47 adolescents (12.2 ± 1.6 y; 55% male) who completed the Bruininks–Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency, 2nd Edition (MC), Harter’s perceived self-competency questionnaire (PMC), and the PACER test (aerobic fitness) and whose MVPA was measured via accelerometry. The body mass index (BMI) was calculated from measured height and weight. (3) Results: There were positive correlations between MC and fitness [rs(47) = 0.469, p < 0.01], PMC and fitness [rs(47) = 0.682, p < 0.01], and PMC and MC [rs(47) = 0.416, p 0.05). There were inverse associations between BMI and both MVPA [rs(44) = −0.410, p < 0.01] and fitness [rs(47) = 0.295, p < 0.05]. The association between MC and MVPA was mediated by fitness (β = 0.3984; 95% CI (0.0564–0.7985)). (4) Conclusions: The associations among MC, PMC, and fitness highlight the critical role of MC in health and partially support the proposed developmental model concerning the relationships that exist among MC, MVPA, PMC, fitness, and BMI.

The relationship between motor proficiency and mental health outcomes in young adults: A test of the Environmental Stress Hypothesis

Abstract:Growing evidence has highlighted the importance of motor proficiency in relation to psychosocial outcomes including self-perceived competence in various domains, perceived social support, and emotional areas such as anxiety and depression. The Environmental Stress Hypothesis-elaborated (Cairney, Rigoli, & Piek, 2013) is a proposed theoretical framework for understanding these relationships and recent studies have begun examining parts of this model using child and adolescent populations. However, the extent to which the relationships between these areas exist, persist or change during early adulthood is currently unclear. The current study aimed to investigate the Environmental Stress Hypothesis in a sample of 95 young adults aged 18-30years and examined the mediating role of physical self-worth and perceived social support in the relationship between motor proficiency and internalising symptoms. The McCarron Assessment of Neuromuscular Development (McCarron, 1997) was used to assess motor proficiency, the Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (Lovibond & Lovibond, 1995) provided a measure of internalising symptoms, and the Physical Self Perceptions Profile (Fox & Corbin, 1989) and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (Zimet, Dahlem, Zimet, & Farley, 1988) were used to investigate the possible mediating role of physical self-worth and perceived social support respectively. Potential confounding variables such as age, gender and BMI were also considered in the analysis. Structural Equation Modelling revealed that perceived social support mediated the relationship between motor proficiency and internalising symptoms, whereas, the mediating role of physical self-worth was non-significant. The current results provide support for part of the model pathways as described in the Environmental Stress Hypothesis and suggest an important relationship between motor proficiency and psychosocial outcomes in young adults. Specifically, the results support previous literature regarding the significant role of perceived social support for mental well-being and suggest that an intervention that considers social support may also indirectly influence mental health outcomes in young adults who experience movement difficulties.
Effect of iturin A, a lipopeptide from Bacillus subtilis on morphology and ultrastructure of human erythrocytes.

Abstract:Iturin A, a lipopeptide from Bacillus subtilis, induced morphological modifications of human erythrocytes and a concomitant release of exovesicles. The modifications depended on the lipopeptide concentration and on the incubation time. Crenation of cells occurred while invaginations appeared when the incubation time was increased. This suggested that iturin A was gradually translocated from the outer layer into the inner half of the bilayer. For one lipopeptide concentration, heterogeneity in the form of the erythrocytes was observed which could result from heterogeneity in the self-association of iturin A. The lipid composition of exovesicles was markedly different from that of the native erythrocytes; they were enriched in cholesterol, sphingomyelin and phosphatidylcholine. Freeze-fracture showed that the ultrastructure of the protoplasmic face of the membrane was not modified by iturin A but, when erythrocytes were prefixed with glutaraldehyde prior to iturin A treatment, irregular smooth protuberances appeared with a decrease of intramembranous particles density. These protuberances which covered the complete area of the cell may have been complex associations of iturin A, phospholipids and cholesterol.

Abstract:BackgroundMotor competence and physical fitness are important factors for promoting positive trajectories of health over time. In 2008, Stodden and colleagues developed a model that discussed the role of both factors in physical activity. Furthermore, the authors hypothesized that the relationship between motor competence and physical fitness is reciprocal and changes over time.ObjectiveThe aim of the present meta-analysis was to synthesize the evidence on the relationship between motor competence and components of physical fitness from early childhood to early adulthood and the potential influence of age.MethodsScientific databases Web of Science and PubMed were used for the literature search. German- as well as English-language studies were included that assessed typically developing children. In accordance with the PRISMA guidelines, 93 studies between 2005 and June 2018 were screened in full. Nineteen studies comprising of 32 samples, 87 single data points from 15,984 participants aged 4.5–20.4 years (Mage = 11.44, SD = 4.77) were included in the analysis.ResultsA random effects model was conducted for the meta-regression with age as moderator variable. The relationship between motor competence and physical fitness was moderate to large (r = 0.43, p < 0.001) after controlling for multiple effects, including dependent samples and small sample sizes in the quantitative synthesis. Additionally, age was a small significant positive moderator of the effect size.Conclusions and ImplicationsThe findings provide support for a moderate to large positive relationship between motor competence and physical fitness that strengthens with increasing age. However, the results also indicate that there may be an overlap in content between motor competence and physical fitness assessments, which warrants further investigation. More research is also needed to assess similarities and differences in terms of the construct structures.

Abstract:Introduction. Good motor competence is linked to better academic achievement in schoolchildren, potentially mediated by fitness and cognition. However, the relative impact of these factors and whether they differ by sex remains unclear. The aim of the present study was to assess the mediating role of fitness components and executive function on this relationship, with a particular focus on sex differences. Methods. This cross-sectional study included 562 schoolchildren (9-11 years, 293 girls) from Cuenca, Spain. We assessed gross motor competence (MABC-2 battery), fitness components (ALPHA battery), executive function (Toolbox battery), academic achievement (mean of language and mathematics grades), weight, height, and sociodemographic variables. Serial multiple mediation models between gross motor competence to AA through fitness and cognition were conducted using the Hayes' PROCESS SPSS macro, both for the total sample and by sex. Results. Both fitness and executive function partially mediated the relationship between gross motor competence and AA. In the total sample, the direct effect explained most of the total effect (51.22% to 72.68%), followed by the cognitive path (19.51% to 30.73%), fitness path (10.84% to 19.02%), and multiple path (4.43% to 9.27%). In boys, only the cognitive path mediated the relationship (56.35% to 68.91%), while in girls, the fitness path (for cardiorespiratory fitness and speed/agility, 19.08% and 20.27%), the cognitive path (limited to upper body strength, 14.92%), and the multiple path (for cardiorespiratory fitness, speed/agility, and lower body strength, 4.93%, 8.31% and 9.43%) were partial mediators. Conclusions. Our results suggest that part of the effect found between gross motor competence and academic achievement in children occurs from improvements in fitness and executive function. These findings emphasize the need for motor competence programs that target both fitness (especially cardiorespiratory fitness and speed/agility) and executive function to boost academic achievement in children aged 9-11. Additionally, interventions should consider sex-specific differences.

Abstract:Purpose: Motor competence is negatively associated with body mass index (BMI) in young people. However, it is still unclear whether motor competence is linked to the risk of obesity in adolescents and longitudinal evidence is missing. The main purpose of this study was to assess the association between motor competence and risk of obesity across adolescence. Methods: A 2-year follow-up study was conducted with a total of 122 adolescents (59.8% girls) aged 12 to 13 years at baseline. Motor competence (KTK), weight status (BMI) and physical activity (questionnaire) were assessed at three time points. Generalized estimating equation and logistic regression models were conducted to examine the relationships between motor competence and weight status, adjusting for potential confounders (i.e. age, sex and physical activity). Results: Motor competence and BMI were inversely related over time. The chance to have overweight/obesity decreased by 6.5% and 8% with a 10-point increase in motor competence across time. In addition, adolescents had 6.4 to 8.2 greater chance to have low motor competence with a 1-point increase in BMI across time. Conclusion: Motor competence is inversely associated with the risk of overweight/obesity across adolescence. Therefore, the development of motor competence can be a protection factor against excessive weight gain. As such, we recommend the development of motor competence as a strategy to prevent pediatric obesity through diversified types of physical activities such as sports, active play and physical education classes.

Abstract:Abstract Background In recent years, the physical fitness situation of college students is worrying in China. Exercise motivation is of great importance for the physical activity and physical fitness. However, existing studies have paid limited attention to the specific effect between exercise motivation, physical activity and physical fitness, and even less to the different genders and exercise motivation dimensions. This study aimed to investigate the promoting effect of sport motivation on physical fitness with different gender and dimension in college students. Methods Physical fitness levels of 2544 college students in Wuhan and Jingzhou city were measured. Exercise motivation and physical activity was assessed using the Chinese version of the motives for physical activities measure-revised scale and the physical activity survey scale, respectively. Correlation analysis and structural equation model were used to explore the relationship between exercise motivation, physical activity and physical fitness. Bootstrap method was used to test the mediating effect. Multilevel regression analysis was used to examine the effects of different dimensions of exercise motivation on PF. Results The exercise motivation of college students was directly related to physical fitness (effect value: 0.307) or indirectly related through the mediating effect of physical activity (effect value: 0.092). The mediation effect percentage of physical activity on exercise motivation and physical fitness in male (51.20%) was greater than female (27.18%), and the standardized regression coefficient of the health dimension to PF was β = 0.151, P < 0.001, and the competence dimension to PF was β = 0.189, P < 0.001. Conclusions The exercise motivation of college students can directly influence PF or indirectly influence PF through the mediating effect of PA. The promoting effect of exercise motivation and PA on PF in college students is related to gender and dimensions of exercise motivation. Therefore, we can improve physical fitness levels of college students by promoting their exercise motivation (especially for health motivation and competence motivation) and increasing their participation in physical activity. This study provides new strategies for improving physical fitness in college students.

Developmental Patterns of Objectively Measured Motor Competence and Musculoskeletal Fitness among Finnish Adolescents

Abstract:Purpose: To examine how development of motor competence (locomotor, object control, stability) and development of musculoskeletal fitness (upper body and abdominal) are related during adolescence, in a large sample of Finnish youth over four years. Methods: Study participants were students (n = 1147; 11.27[±0.33] years at baseline) attending public schools in Finland. Data were collected yearly (2017-2021). Motor competence was assessed using the throwing-catching combination test, 5-leaps test and side-to-side jumping test. Musculoskeletal fitness was assessed using the curl-ups and push-ups tests. To answer the research question, a parallel latent growth curve model was implemented. Covariates were sex, body mass index (BMI) and peak height velocity (PHV). Results: Improvements in all motor competencies were positively associated with improvements in push-ups. Subsequently, improvements in 5-leaps and side-to-side jumping test scores were related to improvements in curl-ups. Our covariate results indicate sex (male), a healthy BMI, and undergoing PHV were associated with greater increases in motor competency and musculoskeletal fitness. Conclusions: Given fitness has been shown to mediate the relationship between physical activity and motor competence, positive practices are needed to enhance adolescents' experiences in physical activities and sports requiring adequate intensity, to improve fitness and motor competence.

Abstract:Background Healthy aging is crucial to the quality of life of older adults, of which mental health is an essential part. Physical exercise strongly affects their mental health and can alleviate psychological problems to a certain extent. Nevertheless, the correlation between physical exercise and the mental health of older adults individuals, as well as the underlying mechanism by which physical exercise impacts mental health, remains rather ambiguous. Methods We utilized multiple linear regression models to investigate the relationship between physical activity and mental health in 3,240 persons aged 60 and up. The propensity score matching (PSM) method was used to assess the robustness of the regression results. In addition, sequential recursive models were employed to investigate the mediating role of social competence in the link between physical activity and mental health. Results and discussion We discovered a strong favorable association between physical exercise and mental health, which was mediated by social competence. Furthermore, the effect of physical exercise on mental health differed across older persons from various socioeconomic backgrounds. Conclusion Older adults should strengthen their understanding of the role of physical exercise. Sports organizations that serve older adults by providing resources and services to help them maintain physical fitness and by hosting sports activities and competitions according to their needs should be established.

Abstract:Background: Mental health has become a major public health issue worldwide. Biological and epidemiological studies have suggested that diet and physical fitness play a role in the prevention or cure of mental disorders. However, further research is required to elucidate the relationship between diet, physical fitness, and mental health. The study aims to provide a theoretical basis for promoting an adolescent healthy lifestyle and preventing mental problems by exploring the relationship between physical fitness, calcium intake, calorie intake, and adolescent mental health. Methods: A cross-sectional study of a sample of adolescents ( N = 253, 12–13 years) was conducted. The study involved adolescents from three middle schools in Central Jiangsu Province, including 136 boys and 117 girls. Weight, height, and body mass index were measured. Physical fitness was scored using the Chinese National Student Physical Fitness Standard. Diet data were collected using a weighed 7-day food diary to estimate energy intake and dietary calcium intake. The mental health status of the participants was assessed using the Chinese Middle School Student Mental Health Scale. A T -test and analysis of variance were used to analyze the differences of variables between different genders and body mass index, and Pearson correlation and stepwise multiple regression were used to explore the relationship between physical fitness, dietary intake, and mental health. Results: The height (165.13 ± 8.07), weight (55.24 ± 13.00), and strength quality (64.93 ± 21.66) of boys are higher than those of girls (161.67 ± 6.44,48.99 ± 8.97, 58.40 ± 23.75, P < 0.05), and the flexibility quality (74.59 ± 14.75) of girls is higher than that of boys (68.30 ± 20.84) ( P < 0.05). There were significant differences in the total scores of speed and physical fitness (F values were 4.02187.73, 3.07, 5.95, 10.33, and 9.52, respectively, P < 0.05). There was a significant positive correlation between calcium intake, cardiopulmonary fitness, and mental health ( r = 0.276, P < 0.01; r = 0.159, P < 0.05). Calcium intake and cardiopulmonary fitness could explain 8.4% of the changes in the mental health of adolescents aged 12–13(ΔR 2 = 0.084, P < 0.05). Conclusion: Adequate calcium intake and the improvement of cardiopulmonary fitness in adolescents aged 12–13 are essential for the good development of their mental health. Future research in this field should examine the prospective associations between multiple measures of physical fitness composition and other nutrients ingested and mental health outcomes, as well as intervention studies that seek to provide evidence of causality.

Different intensities of PA affect mental engagement (ME), which, in turn, affects AA. However, the role of ME in the relationship between PA and AA remains unclear.Objective:This study aimed to examine the mediating and/or moderating role of ME (i.e. cognitive flexibility [COGFLEX], metacognition [META] and competitiveness achievement motivation [COMPETE]) in the relationship between PA (both moderate- and vigorous-intensity activities) and AA.Method:Structural equation modelling was used to build a mediated moderation model. A total of 68,144 students from eight economies who participated in the 2018 Programme for International Student Assessment were included in the study.Results:Moderate-intensity physical activity (MPA) was significantly positively correlated and vigorous-intensity physical activity (VPA) was significantly negatively correlated with AA in adolescents. COGFLEX, META and COMPETE were found to play a significant mediating role in the relationship between both types of PA (MPA and VPA) and AA. COGFLEX and COMPETE were found to moderate the relationship between VPA and AA.Conclusion:ME plays a mediated moderation role in the relationship between the intensity of PA and AA. The theoretical and practical implications of these findings are discussed.

Little systematic action has been taken to increase nurses' awareness of the connection between lighting and potential medication errors. The association between physical fitness and mental health among college students: a cross-sectional study

Abstract:Introduction: Physical inactivity and mental health disorders are emerging threats to public health in China. Previous research on links between exercise and mental wellbeing have focused on clinical populations, with little evidence from the general population, particularly younger adults. We aimed to investigate associations between physical fitness and mental health in Chinese college students. Methods: In this series, of cross-sectional observational studies, we enrolled 7,468 Chinese college students aged 16-24 years in 199 classes at Changzhou Vocational Institute of Engineering between Sept 1, 2017, and Jun 30, 2018. Exposures of interest were the students' physical fitness level, measured by the Chinese University Students Physique Test. The primary outcomes were mental health situations, measured by the University Personality Inventory (UPI). The multivariable linear regression models were used to assess the relationship between the levels of physical fitness and mental disorders symptoms. Results: Completed mental health and physical fitness data were available for 6,724 participants aged 16-24 years. Compared with the failed group, the corresponding levels of difference in overall UPI scores were - 1.45 scores (95% CI: -2.45, -0.46; p < 0.01) for the passed group and - 2.95 scores (95% CI: -4.13, -1.77; p < 0.01) for the good group. Similar results were observed in the four different aspects of psychotic disorder symptoms. Discussion: There was a significantly negative correlation between the level of physical fitness and phycological situations among Chinese college students. Our findings highlight the psychological situations of students with low physical fitness levels should be concerned.

Abstract:Purpose: Adolescent perceptions of their physical self-worth (PSW) and the component domains draw upon physical attributes, such as motor competence, physical fitness, and self-perceptions, which in turn enhance the desire to engage in physical activity. Whilst these relationships have been researched in populations with typical motor development, little is known of the interplay of these contributors to PSW with those with low motor competence (LMC). Even less is known of how importance placed on particular physical subdomains may be used by the adolescent with LMC to mitigate negative effects on their perceptions of PSW. Method: Thirty-four adolescents with low motor competence, 25 boys and 9 girls (Mage = 13.89 yrs, SD = 1.49), completed the McCarron Assessment of Neuromuscular Development (MAND), the Children's Physical Self-Perception Questionnaire (C-PSPP) and a range of physical fitness tests. Results: All self-perception subdomain score was lower than importance ratings. Physical fitness measures were also low but were not significantly associated with PSW. However, the higher importance scores relative to physical self-perceptions resulted in greater discrepancy scores in all subdomains. Conclusion: Adolescents with LMC have low PSW, and low self-perceptions relative to importance ratings for most physical self-subdomains. These discrepancies, rather than actual fitness, potentially reduce their motivation to be physically active.

Abstract:The use of physical exercise for the purpose of maintaining adolescents' mental health is an important topic of psychological research. However, there is no unified conclusion on the effect of physical exercise time on the level of mental health. This paper investigates the causal effect of physical activity on adolescent mental health using a multilayer linear modeling approach and a Bootstrap method to test for possible mediating effects. The results of the study showed that there was a nonlinear inverted U-shaped relationship between physical activity time and adolescent mental health, with a threshold value of 105 min, and the results of the mediating effect analysis showed that self-assessment of health, self-confidence, academic stress, peer relationships, and positive peer behaviour were important mediating mechanisms between physical activity and mental health. The results of the mediation effect analysis showed that physical exercise was an important mediating mechanism between self-assessment, confidence, academic stress, peer relationship, and positive peer behaviour.

Abstract:Objective: To identify the internal mechanism of the relationship between physical activity and mental health in home exercises. Methods: Participants were 2233 college students with an average age of 19.34 (SD = 1.07) recruited from southern China using analysis of variance (ANOVA) and hierarchical multiple regression. They completed the college student physical activity questionnaire, regulatory emotional self-efficacy scale (RES) and Symptom Checklist (SCL-90) to explore the internal mechanism of the relationship between home exercises and mental health in the context of fitness campaign. Results: Statistical analysis based on ANOVA and hierarchical multiple regression, and the results showed that gender differences is a critical factor influencing the effectiveness of home exercise on mental health in college students. Furthermore, individuals with regulatory emotional self-efficacy are more likely to keep exercising, which may stimulate the positive effect on enhancing mental health. Conclusion: Variable of emotion regulation efficacy play an important role in promoting college students positive emotions, stimulating potential, and improving physical and mental health. Further to advocate sports interventions for home-stay groups to improve their control of emotions, thereby reducing their anxiety and depression in the face of unexpected events.
Healthy physical education curriculum model and students' extracurricular sports participation --test based on the trans-contextual model of motivation

Abstract:Background: In recent years, the mental health level and physical activity level of Chinese teenagers are not ideal, and all sectors of society are actively reversing this bad situation. The purpose of this study is to test the influence of healthy physical education curriculum model on middle school students' extracurricular sports participation based on the trans-contextual model of motivation (TCM). Methods: The trial adopts quasi-experimental design comparing equivalent groups. The experimental group adopted the healthy physical education curriculum model in physical education (PE), and the control group adopted the technical-traditional teaching. During the 12 weeks intervention, 327 junior school freshmen completed the test of TCM variables four times as the pre-test, test 2, test 3 and post-test of this experimental study. Results: After the intervention, students' perceived need support in PE, autonomous motivation in PE, autonomous motivation in leisure time (LT)and the amount of extracurricular sports activities in the experimental group have increased significantly. The perceived need support of experimental group students can predict autonomous motivation in PE positively (β = 0.385, P<.001); Autonomous motivation in PE can predict autonomous motivation in LT positively (β = 0.462, P<.001); Autonomous motivation in LT can predict the intention of extracurricular sports participation positively, and the direct effect was significant (β = 0.172, P<.01), the total indirect effect was significant (β = 0.382, P<.001), the indirect effect of subjective norms was not significant (P>.05); Extracurricular sports participation intention can predict the amount of extracurricular sports activities positively (β = 0.327, P<.001). Conclusions: The structural characteristics of healthy physical education curriculum model provide need support for students' learning, improve students' autonomous motivation in and out of PE, and finally promote students' participation in extracurricular sports.
Health and Skill Related Physical Fitness in Adolescents with Motor Difficulties Compared to their Peers without Motor Difficulties

Abstract:Developmental coordination disorder (DCD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by motor difficulties that affect individuals’ activities of daily living, and pose an increased risk to their health, and psychosocial development. The purpose of the study was to compare abdominal, and hip-flexors muscle strength, and endurance, flexibility of the lower back, and hamstrings muscles, Body Mass Index (BMI) and lower body explosive power between adolescents with motor difficulties and their peers without motor difficulties in a physical education setting. The initial sample consisted of 250 adolescents, 12-15 years old, who were assessed using Movement Assessment Battery for Children-2-Motor Test (MABC-2). Twenty-three adolescents who felt below the 15th percentile, according to the Battery’s Norm, formed the motor difficulties (MD) group. Twenty-three age- and sex-matched peers with MABC-2 scores equal to, or above the 16th percentile were selected randomly, forming the non-motor-difficulties (NMD) group. Adolescents in both groups were measured, individually, in the “sit-up test”, the “sit & reach test”, the “standing long jump test” and the “vertical jump test”. Body mass index (BMI) was also calculated. Independent of gender, the presence of motor difficulties was linked to significantly lower levels of the above examined variables, except BMI. Independent of the occurrence of motor difficulties, boys outperformed girls in all the above variables, except flexibility. Conclusively, results of the current study support previous findings regarding the detrimental effect of motor learning difficulties on adolescents’ physical fitness. Therefore, improving physical fitness should be one of the main goals of any physical education intervention program and future research should focus on this issue.
Effects of fundamental movement skills on health-related quality of life in Chinese school-age children: the mediating role of physical fitness level

Abstract:Background: The primary purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between school-age children's fundamental movement skills (FMS), physical fitness levels, and the health-related quality of life (HRQoL); To explore the mediating role of physical fitness levels between school-age children's FMS and HRQoL. Methods: In the cross-sectional survey in 2021, 334 school-age children aged 6-10 (8.20 ± 1.16) were recruited from primary schools in Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province, China. Test of Gross Motor Development 2 (TGMD-2), National Standards for Students' Physical Health, and Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory TM Version 4.0 (PedsQL™ 4.0) were used to investigate the FMS, physical fitness level, and HRQoL of school-age children. Hierarchical regression was used to analyze the relationship among FMS, physical fitness levels, and HRQoL. Bootstrap is used to evaluate the mediating role of physical fitness levels in the relationship between FMS and HRQoL. Results: The higher the FMS and physical fitness, the higher the school-age children's HRQoL, physical functioning, social functioning, and school functioning (r = 0.244-0.301, p < 0.01). In addition, developing children's FMS promotes physical fitness levels (r = 0.358, p < 0.01). The regression analysis results of controlling gender, age, and body mass index z (BMI-z) scores showed that FMS significantly positively predicted the physical functioning (β = 0.319, p < 0.01), social functioning (β = 0.425, p < 0.01), and school functioning (β = 0.333, p < 0.01) of school-age children. When the physical fitness level enters the regression equation, the absolute value of the regression coefficient of FMS decreases. However, it can still significantly predict the physical functioning (β = 0.211, p < 0.01) and school functioning (β = 0.142, p < 0.05) of school-age children. Simple intermediary analysis shows that physical fitness level plays an intermediary role between FMS, physical functioning (indirect effect = 0.089 [95% Confidence interval (CI) = 0.015,0.195]), and school functioning (indirect effect = 0.065 [95% CI = 0.007,0.150]). Conclusion: This study shows that physical fitness levels mediate the relationship between FMS and HRQoL. Encouraging the development of FMS and promoting physical fitness levels of school-age children can effectively improve the HRQoL of school-age children.
