Abstract:In this article, applying variational technique as well as critical point theory, we establish a series of criteria to ensure the existence and multiplicity of nontrivial periodic solutions to a second-order nonlinear partial difference equation. Our results generalize some known results. Moreover, numerical stimulations are presented to illustrate applications of our major findings.

Abstract:Sufficient conditions in this paper are presented for the existence of periodic solutions of a second order totally nonlinear iterative differential equation. The equivalent integral equation of the given equation defines a fixed point mapping written as a sum of a large contraction and a compact map. The main tool used here is Krasnoselskii-Burton’s fixed point technique.

Abstract:In this paper, a nonperiodic discrete nonlinear equation with Jacobi operators is considered. By using the critical point theory, we establish some new sufficient conditions on the existence and multiplicity of homoclinic solutions. Recent results are generalized and significantly improved. Abstract:Abstract In this article, we deal with the existence of solutions for the following second-order differential equation: $$\begin{aligned} \left\{ \begin{aligned}&u''(t)=f(t,u(t))+h(t)\\&u(a)-u(b)= u'(a)-u'(b)=0, \end{aligned}\right. \end{aligned}$$ u ′ ′ ( t ) = f ( t , u ( t ) ) + h ( t ) u ( a ) - u ( b ) = u ′ ( a ) - u ′ ( b ) = 0 , where $${\mathbb {B}}$$ B is a reflexive real Banach space, $$f:[a,b]\times {\mathbb {B}}\rightarrow {\mathbb {B}}$$ f : [ a , b ] × B → B is a sequentially weak–strong continuous mapping, and $$h:[a,b]\rightarrow {\mathbb {B}}$$ h : [ a , b ] → B is a continuous function on $${\mathbb {B}}.$$ B . The proofs are obtained using a recent generalization of the well-known Bolzano–Poincaré–Miranda theorem to infinite-dimensional Banach spaces. In the last section, we present three examples of application of the general result.

Qualitative Theory of Dynamical Systems

Abstract:In this paper, we are concerned with a problem of periodic solution for a second order nonautonomous differential equation with a discontinuity line. Under two types of assumptions, we analyze the geometric properties of solutions respectively. Then by using a fixed point theorem, we obtain several existence criteria of periodic solutions, where the periodic solutions are crossing harmonic and subharmonic solutions.

Abstract:Some existence results of periodic solution are obtained for a class of second‐order Hamiltonian systems with nonlinearity depending on derivative. We prove that there exists T 0 > 0 such that, for any T < T 0 , the provided Hamiltonian system has a nontrivial T‐periodic and T/2‐antiperiodic solution via linking theorem and iteration method.

Abstract:Bulletin of Mathematical Sciences, Ahead of Print. Due to the essential difficulty of establishing an appropriate variational framework on a suitable working space, how to apply the critical point theory for showing the existence and multiplicity of periodic solutions of continuous-time difference equations remains a completely open problem. New ideas including gluing arguments are introduced in this work to overcome such a difficulty. This enables us to employ the critical point theory to construct uncountably many periodic solutions for a class of superlinear continuous-time difference equations without assuming symmetry properties on the nonlinear terms. The obtained solutions are piecewise differentiable in some cases, distinguishing continuous-time difference equations from ordinary differential equations qualitatively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time in the literature that the critical point theory has been used for such types of problems. Our work may open an avenue for studying discrete nonlinear systems with continuous time via the critical point theory.

Based on Krasnoselskii's fixed point theorem, the existence results of positive periodic solution are established. It should be pointed out that the equations we studied are more general. Therefore, the results of this paper have better applicability.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence and multiplicity of periodic solutions to a class of second-order nonlinear differential equations with distributed delay. Under assumptions that the nonlinearity is odd, differentiable at zero and satisfies the Nagumo condition, by applying the equivariant degree method, we prove that the delay equation admits multiple periodic solutions. The results are then illustrated by an example.

Abstract:In this paper, we obtain conditions of existence and uniqueness of periodic solutions for a nonlinear fourth-order differential equation utilizing explicit Green's function and fixed point index theorem combining with operator spectral theorem. We discuss an iteration method for constant coefficient nonlinear differential equations and establish the theorem on the existence of positive solutions for a fourth-order boundary value problem with a variable parameter. Finally, we give an example to illustrate our results.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the variational principle and the existence of periodic solutions for a new class of second-order ordinary p-Laplacian systems. The variational principle is given by making use of two methods. We obtain three existence theorems of periodic solutions to this problem on various sufficient conditions on the potential function F(t,x) or nonlinearity ∇F(t,x). Four examples are presented to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of our results.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish two different existence results of positive periodic solutions for second order non-autonomous singular dynamical systems. The first one is based on a nonlinear alternative principle of Leray–Schauder and the result is applicable to the case of a strong singularity as well as the case of a weak singularity. The second one is based on Schauder's fixed point theorem and the result sheds some new light on problems with weak singularities and proves that in some situations weak singularities may help create periodic solutions. Recent results in the literature are generalized and significantly improved.

Abstract:We prove the existence of periodic solutions in a class of nonlinear partial differential equations, including the nonlinear Schrödinger equation, the nonlinear wave equation, and the nonlinear beam equation, in higher dimension. Our result covers cases of completely resonant equations, where the bifurcation equation is infinite-dimensional, such as the nonlinear Schrödinger equation with zero mass, for which solutions which at leading order are wave packets are shown to exist.

Also, we present its some properties. Next, we respectively discuss about the existence and uniqueness of C-periodic solutions of linear homogeneous and nonhomogeneous problems. Further, we study the nonlinear problem via fixed point theorem. Examples are also given to verify theory results.
