Abstract:Let M be an n-dimensional oriented compact submanifold with parallel mean curvature in the unit sphere $S^{n+p}$. Denote by H and S the mean curvature and the squared length of the second fundamental form of M, respectively. We obtain a classification theorem of M if it satisfies $S+\lambda _2\le \alpha (n,H)$, where $\lambda _{2}$ is the second largest eigenvalue of the fundamental matrix and $\alpha (n,H)$ is defined as in Theorem B.

Abstract:On the unit tangent bundle of a compact Riemannian surface of constant nonzero curvature, we study semiclassical Schr{ö}dinger operators associated with the natural sub-Riemannian Laplacian built along the horizontal bundle. In that setup , the involved Reeb flow is periodic and we show that high-frequency Schr{ö}dinger eigenfunctions enjoy extra regularity properties. As an application, we derive regularity properties for low-energy eigenmodes of semiclassical magnetic Schr{ö}dinger operators on the underlying surface by considering joint eigenfunctions with the Reeb vector field.

Abstract:These notes give an introduction to the equivalence problem of sub-Riemannian manifolds. We first introduce preliminaries in terms of connections, frame bundles and sub-Riemannian geometry. Then we arrive to the main aim of these notes, which is to give the description of the canonical grading and connection existing on sub-Riemann manifolds with constant symbol. These structures are exactly what is needed in order to determine if two manifolds are isometric. We give three concrete examples, which are Engel (2,3,4)-manifolds, contact manifolds and Cartan (2,3,5)-manifolds. These notes are an edited version of a lecture series given at the \href{https://conference.math.muni.cz/srni/}{42nd Winter school: Geometry and Physics}, Snr\'i, Check Republic, mostly based on other earlier work. However, the work on Engel (2,3,4)-manifolds is original research, and illustrate the important special case were our model has the minimal set of isometries.
Failure of curvature-dimension conditions on sub-Riemannian manifolds via tangent isometries

Abstract:We prove that, on any sub-Riemannian manifold endowed with a positive smooth measure, the Bakry-Émery inequality for the corresponding sub-Laplacian implies the existence of enough Killing vector fields on the tangent cone to force the latter to be Euclidean at each point, yielding the failure of the curvature-dimension condition in full generality. Our approach does not apply to non-strictly-positive measures. In fact, we prove that the weighted Grushin plane does not satisfy any curvature-dimension condition, but, nevertheless, does admit an a.e. pointwise version of the Bakry-Émery inequality. As recently observed by Pan and Montgomery, one half of the weighted Grushin plane satisfies the RCD(0,N) condition, yielding a counterexample to gluing theorems in the RCD setting.

Abstract:We develop a generalisation of the original theory of regularity structures, [Hai14], which is able to treat SPDEs on manifolds with values in vector bundles. Assume $M$ is a Riemannian manifold and $E\to M$ and $F^i\to M$ are vector bundles (with a metric and connection), this theory allows to solve subcritical equations of the form $$ \partial_t u + \mathcal{L}u = \sum_{i=0}^m G_i(u, \nabla u,\ldots, \nabla^n u)\xi_i\ , $$ where $u$ is a (generalised) section of $E$, $\mathcal{L}$ is a uniformly elliptic operator on $E$ of order strictly greater than $n$, the $\xi_i$ are $F^i$-valued random distributions (e.g. $F^i$-valued white noises), and the $G_i:E\times TM^*\otimes E \times\ldots\times (TM^*)^{\otimes n} \otimes E \to L(F^i ,E)$ are local functions. We apply our framework to three example equations which illustrate that when $\mathcal{L}$ is a Laplacian it is possible in most cases to renormalise such equations by adding spatially homogeneous counterterms and we discuss in which cases more sophisticated renormalisation procedures (involving the curvature of the underlying manifold) are required.

Abstract:We define and study the regularity of distance maps on geodesically complete spaces with curvature bounded above. We prove that such a regular map is locally a Hurewicz fibration. This regularity can be regarded as a dual concept of Perelman's regularity in the geometry of Alexandrov spaces with curvature bounded below. As a corollary we obtain a sphere theorem for geodesically complete CAT(1) spaces.

$C^{1,α}$ regularity of hypersurfaces of bounded nonlocal mean curvature in Riemannian manifolds

Abstract:Let $(M,g)$ be a smooth connected Riemannian manifold. We show an improvement of flatness theorem for hypersurfaces of $M$ of bounded nonlocal mean curvature in the viscosity sense. It implies local $ C^{1,\alpha}$ regularity of these hypersurfaces provided that they are sufficiently flat. It extends a result of Caffarelli, Roquejoffre and Savin in the Euclidean setting to the case of arbitrary Riemannian manifolds.

Abstract:Abstract Let be a closed, connected, and oriented Riemannian manifold, which admits a quasiregular ‐curve with infinite energy. We prove that, if the de Rham class of is nonzero and a finite sum of nontrivial products, then there exists a nontrivial graded algebra homomorphism from the de Rham algebra of to the exterior algebra . As an application, we give examples of pairs , where is a closed manifold and is a closed ‐form for , for which every quasiregular ‐curve is constant.

On the fundamental theorem of submanifold theory and isometric immersions with supercritical low regularity

Abstract:fundamental result in global analysis and nonlinear elasticity asserts that given a solution $\mathfrak{S}$ to the Gauss--Codazzi--Ricci equations over a simply-connected closed manifold $(\mathcal{M}^n,g)$, one may find an isometric immersion $\iota$ of $(\mathcal{M}^n,g)$ into the Euclidean space $\mathbb{R}^{n+k}$ whose extrinsic geometry coincides with $\mathfrak{S}$. Here the dimension $n$ and the codimension $k$ are arbitrary. Abundant literature has been devoted to relaxing the regularity assumptions on $\mathfrak{S}$ and $\iota$. The best result up to date is $\mathfrak{S} \in L^p$ and $\iota \in W^{2,p}$ for $p>n \geq 3$ or $p=n=2$. In this paper, we extend the above result to $\iota \in \mathcal{X}$ whose topology is strictly weaker than $W^{2,n}$ for $n \geq 3$. Indeed, $\mathcal{X}$ is the weak Morrey space $L^{p, n-p}_{2,w}$ with arbitrary $p \in ]2,n]$. This appears to be first supercritical result in the literature on the existence of isometric immersions with low regularity, given the solubility of the Gauss--Codazzi--Ricci equations. Our proof essentially utilises the theory of Uhlenbeck gauges -- in particular, Rivière--Struwe's work [Partial regularity for harmonic maps and related problems, Comm. Pure Appl. Math. 61 (2008)] on harmonic maps in arbitrary dimensions and codimensions -- and compensated compactness.

Abstract:We consider families of diffeomorphisms with dominated splittings and preserving a Borel probability measure, and we study the regularity of the Lyapunov exponents associated to the invariant bundles with respect to the parameter. We obtain that the regularity is at least the sum of the regularities of the two invariant bundles (for regularities in [ 0 , 1 ] [0,1] ), and under suitable conditions we obtain formulas for the derivatives. Similar results are obtained for families of flows, and for the case when the invariant measure depends on the map. We also obtain several applications. Near the time one map of a geodesic flow of a surface of negative curvature the metric entropy of the volume is Lipschitz with respect to the parameter. At the time one map of a geodesic flow on a manifold of constant negative curvature the topological entropy is differentiable with respect to the parameter, and we give a formula for the derivative. Under some regularity conditions, the critical points of the Lyapunov exponent function are nonflat (the second derivative is nonzero for some families). Also, again under some regularity conditions, the criticality of the Lyapunov exponent function implies some rigidity of the map, in the sense that the volume decomposes as a product along the two complementary foliations. In particular for area preserving Anosov diffeomorphisms, the only critical points are the maps smoothly conjugated to the linear map, corresponding to the global extrema.

Abstract:For each point ξ in a CR manifold M of codimension greater than 1, the CR structure of M can be approximated by the CR structure of a nilpotent Lie group Gξ of step two near ξ. Gξ varies with ξ.$\square _b $ and$\bar \partial _b $ on M can be approximated by$\square _b $ and$\bar \partial _b $ on the nilpotent Lie group Gξ We can construct the parametrix of$\square _b $ on M by using the parametrix of$\square _b $ on nilpotent group of step two, and define a quasidistance on M by the approximation. The regularity of$\square _b $ and$\bar \partial _b $ follows from the Harmonic analysis on M.

Abstract:We begin by characterizing metabelian distributions in terms of principal bundle structures. Then, we prove that in sub-Riemannian manifolds with metabelian distributions of rank $r$, the projection of strictly singular trajectories to some $r$-dimensional manifold must remain within an analytic variety. As a consequence, for rank-2 metabelian distributions, geodesics are of class $C^1$.

Abstract:In this paper, we provide an alternative appraoch to an expectaion of Fässler et al [J. Geom. Anal. 2016] by showing that a metrically quasiregular mapping between two equiregular subRiemannian manifolds of homogeneous dimension $Q\geq 2$ has a negligible branch set. One main new ingredient is to develop a suitable extension of the generalized Pansu differentiability theory, in spirit of earlier works by Margulis-Mostow, Karmanova and Vodopyanov. Another new ingredient is to apply the theory of Sobolev spaces based on upper gradients developed by Heinonen, Koskela, Shanmugalingam and Tyson to establish the necessary analytic foundations.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the isolation phenomena of Einstein manifolds from the viewpoint of submanifolds theory. First, for locally strongly convex Einstein affine hyperspheres we prove a rigidity theorem and as its direct consequence we establish a unified affine differential geometric characterization of the noncompact symmetric spaces E6(-26)/F-4 and SL(m, R)/SO(m), SL(m, C)/SU(m), SU*(2m)/Sp(m) for each m >= 3. Second and analogously, for Einstein Lagrangian minimal submanifolds of the complex projective space CPn(4) with constant holomorphic sectional curvature 4, we prove a similar rigidity theorem and as its direct consequence we establish a unified differential geometric characterization of the compact symmetric spaces E-6/F-4 and SU(m)/SO(m), SU(m), SU(2m)/Sp(m) for each m >= 3.

Abstract:Generalizing the notion of domains of dependence in the Minkowski space, we define and study regular domains in the affine space with respect to a proper convex cone. In dimension three, we show that every proper regular domain is uniquely foliated by a particular kind of surfaces with constant affine Gaussian curvature. The result is based on the analysis of a Monge-Amp\`ere equation with extended-real-valued lower semicontinuous boundary condition.

Abstract:Given a Riemannian submersion $(M,g) \to (B,j)$ each of whose fiber is connected and totally geodesic, we consider a certain 1-parameter family of Riemannian metrics $(g_{t})_{t > 0}$ on $M$, which is called the canonical variation. We prove that if each fiber is Einstein and $(M,g)$ satisfies a certain condition about its Ricci curvature, then the $l$-th positive eigenvalue $\lambda_{l}(g_{t})$ of the Laplacian on $(M,g_{t})$ is bounded from below by a positive constant independent of $l$. This in particular implies that the scale-invariant quantity $\lambda_{1}(g_{t})\mbox{Vol}(M,g_{t})^{2/\mbox{dim}M}$ goes to $\infty$ with $t$. We consider many examples. In particular, we consider Riemannian submersions from compact rank one symmetric spaces and the twistor fibration of a quaternionic Kähler manifold of positive scalar curvature.
