Abstract:OBJECTIVE To present results from HIV testing, knowledge of HIV status and socioeconomic factors associated with the probability of having a HIV positive result among transwomen (TW) in Mexico. MATERIALS AND METHODS In 2012, we conducted an HIV seroprevalence survey to 585 TW in Mexico City in three strata: gathering places, the Condesa HIV Clinic and in four detention centers. We estimated the prevalence of HIV in each strata and applied a probit model to the overall sample to analyze factors associated with the probability of a HIV positive result. RESULTS The prevalence of HIV was 19.8% in meeting places; 31.9% in detention centers and 64% among the participants of the clinic. Age, low education and number of sexual partners was positively associated with HIV. CONCLUSIONS Results from the study provide relevant information to design HIV prevention interventions tailored to the needs of the TW population.

Abstract:Peanut(Arachis hypogaea) is an important crop,but it is badly affected by drought stress.The draft peanut genome sequence released in 2016 can be used to help understand the molecular mechanisms of drought tolerance in this species.Transcription factors (TFs) play central roles in defense responses in peanut.In this study,the differential expression of TFs in response to drought stress in the drought-resistant peanut cultivar Jll by RNA-seq was analyzed.Pooled samples obtained at 6,12,18,24,and 48 h were compared with control samples at 0 h.In total,this study identified 236 differentially expressed TFs based on the transcriptome data;142 were up-regulated and 94 were down-regulated.Among the differentially expressed TFs,members of the MYB and bHLH families were the most abundant.In up-regulated TFs group,the fold change range was from 2.034 1 to 43.968 3,and 69 TFs was＞10.In down-regulated TFs group,the fold change range was from-2.1031 to-11.6103,and 58 TFs was ＜-4.In this study,25 MYB genes were induced and 17 were down-regulated;17 bHLH genes were up-regulated and 14 were down-regulated;all NAC TFs was used to were up-regulated.In order to validate the gene expression data obtained by RNA-seq,qRT-PCR was used determine the expression levels of 14TF genes.Although the data obtained from qRT-PCR and RNA-seq were different,the trends in the expression levels determined by qRT-PCR were consistent with those obtained by RNA-Seq,thereby confirming the accuracy of the RNA-seq results.The results confirm the idea that drought resistance in peanut was largely dependent upon multiple TF families.The results of this study will provide a useful resource for further molecular research in this species.

Abstract:Drought tolerance varies among different peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) cultivars. Here, drought responses of two cultivars, Huayu 22 (HY22) with drought tolerance and Fuhua 18 (FH18) with drought sensitivity, were compared at the morphological, physiological, biochemical, photosynthetic, and transcriptional levels. Drought stress caused wilting and curling of leaves, bending of stems, and water loss in both cultivars. There was an increase in malondialdehyde (MDA) content under prolonged drought stress, more so in FH18. But the levels of reactive oxygen species (H2O2) and lipid peroxidation were low in HY22. The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), and glutathione reductase (GR) were considerably elevated, corresponding with rapid increases in the accumulation of soluble proteins, soluble sugars, and proline. Transcriptional sequencing showed gene expression varied seriously in HY22, which was upregulated in both stems of two cultivars, though downregulation was less pronounced in HY22. KEGG pathway analysis revealed significant enrichment in four leaf and six stem pathways. Additionally, core genes relating to photosynthesis, carbon fixation, proline synthesis, and sucrose and starch synthesis pathways were identified by correlation analysis. Those gene expressions were variously upregulated in stems of two cultivars, especially in HY22, giving a novel view of the shoot as a whole participating in stress response.

Comprehensive Morphological and Molecular Insights into Drought Tolerance Variation at Germination Stage in Brassica Napus Accessions

Abstract:Drought constitutes a noteworthy abiotic stressor, detrimentally impacting seed germination, plant development, and agricultural yield. In response to the threats imposed by climate change and water paucity, this study examined the morphological divergence and genetic governance of drought resilience traits at the germination stage in 196 rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) lines under both normal (0 MPa) and drought-induced stress (−0.8 MPa) scenarios. Our study showed that the composite drought tolerance D value is a reliable index for identifying drought resilience. Through a genome-wide association study (GWAS), we uncovered 37 significant SNP loci and 136 putative genes linked to drought tolerance based on the D value. A key discovery included the gene BnaA01g29390D (BnNCED3), encoding 9-cis-epoxycarotenoid dioxygenase, which exhibited significantly heightened expression levels in drought-resistant accessions (p < 0.01), underscoring its potential as a positive drought stress regulator and a suitable candidate for genetically enhancing drought resilience. Moreover, we pinpointed four stress-reactive transcription factors (BnaA07g26740D, BnaA07g26870D, BnaA07g26910D, and BnaA07g26980D), two E3 ubiquitin-protein ligases (BnaA05g22900D and BnaC06g28950D), two enzymes (BnaA01g29390D and BnaA03g48550D), and two photosystem-associated proteins (BnaA05g22950D and BnaC06g28840D) as vital components in drought response mechanisms. The construction of a regulatory network reveals an ABA-dependent pathway (NCED3/RGLG5/IDD14) that contributes to drought tolerance in rapeseed seedlings, alongside the involvement of a drought avoidance strategy (APRR6/PHYB). The SNPs and genes unveiled in this study offer a substantial theoretical foundation for subsequent investigations targeting genetic improvement for drought resilience during seed germination in rapeseed.

Abstract:Water deficit is one of the major factors limiting crop productivity worldwide. Plant roots play a key role in uptaking water, perceiving and transducing of water deficit signals to shoot. Although the mechanisms of drought-tolerance have been reported recently, the transcriptional regulatory network of wheat root response to water stress has not been fully understood. In this study, drought-tolerant cultivar JM-262 and susceptible cultivar LM-2 are planted to characterize the root transcriptional changes and physiological responses to water deficit. A total of 8197 drought tolerance-associated differentially expressed genes (DEGs) are identified, these genes are mainly mapped to carbon metabolism, flavonoid biosynthesis, and phytohormone signal transduction. The number and expression level of DEGs involved in antioxidative and antiosmotic stresses are more enhanced in JM-262 under water stress. Furthermore, we find the DEGs related to root development are much more induced in JM-262 in phytohormone signal transduction and carbon metabolism pathway. In conclusion, JM-262 may alleviate the damage of drought by producing more osmoprotectants, ROS scavengers, biomass and energy. Interestingly, hormone signaling and cross-talk probably play an important role in promoting JM-262 greater root systems to take up more water, higher capabilities to induce more drought-related DEGs and higher resisitance to oxidative stresse.

Abstract:The peanut (Arachis hypogaea) is an important crop species that is threatened by drought stress. The genome sequences of peanut, which was officially released in 2016, may help explain the molecular mechanisms that underlie drought tolerance in this species. We report here a gene expression profiling of A. hypogaea to gain a global view of its drought resistance. Using whole-transcriptome sequencing, we analysed differential gene expression in response to drought stress in the drought-resistant peanut cultivar J11. Pooled samples obtained at 6, 12, 18, 24, and 48 h were compared with control samples at 0 h. In total, 51,554 genes were found, including 49,289 known genes and 2265 unknown genes. We identified 224 differentially expressed transcription factors, 296,335 SNPs and 28,391 InDELs. In addition, we detected significant differences in the gene expression profiles of the treatment and control groups. After comparing the two groups, 4648 genes were identified. An in-depth analysis of the data revealed that a large number of genes were associated with drought stress, including transcription factors and genes involved in photosynthesis–antenna proteins, carbon metabolism and the citrate cycle. The results of this study provide insights into the diverse mechanisms that underlie the successful establishment of drought resistance in the peanut, thereby facilitating the identification of important genes in the peanut related to drought management. Transcriptome analysis based on RNA-Seq is a powerful approach for gene discovery and molecular marker development for this species.
Identification and Expression Analysis of Genes Responsive to Drought Stress in Peanut

Abstract:Although peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is a relatively drought-tolerant crop, its productivity and quality is adversely affected by drought stress. The identification of novel genes, the analysis of gene expression patterns in response to dehydration stress, and the evaluation of their potential functions in stress adaptation will provide the basis for effective engineering strategies to improve crop drought tolerance. However, little is known about stress tolerance of peanut. To investigate genes that are involved in the response to drought stress in peanut, a survey of genes responsive to drought stress was done by cDNA macroarray analysis, and about 277 unigenes were selected, including genes related among others to stress response and transcription factors. Totally, it was found that about 21 clones could respond to dehydration. The expression patterns of these 21 candidate drought-responsive genes and another 30 selected non-responsive genes were further analyzed by real-time PCR, and then we found another responsive gene P3617. Among these genes, 18 genes were up-regulated, and 4 genes were down-regulated by drought. The functional classification indicated that these genes belonged to gene families encoding stress-responsive proteins, transcription factors, auxin-responsive protein, Na+/H+ transporter SOS1, and chloroplast photosynthetic oxygen-evolving protein subunit of peanut. Collectively, the data presented in this study will facilitate the understanding of molecular mechanism of the peanut response to drought stress and also provide the potential strategies for effective genetic engineering to improve peanut stress tolerance.
Proteomic Profiling of Arachis Hypogaea in Response to Drought Stress and Overexpression of AhLEA2 Improves Drought Tolerance.

Abstract:Drought is the main factor restricting peanut growth, but the molecular mechanism underlying peanut drought tolerance remains unclear. Herein, the seedling stage of drought-resistant peanut cultivar J11 was subjected to drought stress, and its proteomic profile was systematically analysed by isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ), the results of which were further complemented with our previous transcriptome results. A total of 4,018 proteins were identified by proteomic analysis, which revealed that the expression levels of 69 proteins were altered under drought stress. Among the differentially expressed proteins (DEPs), 50 were upregulated, and 19 were downregulated. The most enriched metabolic pathways for these DEPs were those involving phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, flavonoid biosynthesis, and plant hormone signal transduction. The proteomic data and previous transcriptome results revealed 44 groups of genes/proteins with the same expression trend, including a LEA (Late embryogenesis abundant) gene, AhLEA2. Our present study showed that overexpression of the AhLEA2 gene enhanced the drought resistance of transgenic Arabidopsis plants, and the activities of related antioxidant enzymes in the transgenic plants significantly changed. The AhLEA2 gene was found to be located in the cytoplasm and cell membrane by subcellular localization experiments. This work systematically analysed the differentially expressed proteins in peanut in response to drought stress, providing important candidates for further functional analysis of the stress response of peanut. Our results also indicated that AhLEA2 plays an important role in the peanut response to drought stress.

Abstract:Peanut drought tolerance levels are genotype‐dependent, modulated by physiological and biochemical responses, in which antioxidant activity is critical for plant recovery after rehydration. Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) is the fourth most cultivated oilseed in the world, but its cultivation is subject to fluctuations in water demand. Current studies of tolerance between cultivars and physiological mechanisms involved in plant recovery after drought are insufficient for selection of tolerant cultivars. We evaluated tolerance of different peanut cultivars to water deficit and subsequent rehydration, based on physiological and biochemical status. Gas exchange, photosynthetic pigments, Fv/Fm, MDA, H2O2 and antioxidant enzyme activity were analysed. Drought stress and rehydration triggered distinct changes in pigments, Fv/Fm, gas exchange, and H2O2 across genotypes, with increased MDA in all cultivars under stress. Based on multivariate analysis, 'IAC Sempre Verde' was identified as most drought sensitive, while 'IAC OL3', 'IAC 503', and 'IAC OL6' exhibited variations in physiological responses and antioxidant activity correlated to their respective tolerance levels. Notably, 'IAC OL3' had higher WUE and enhanced enzymatic defence and was classified as the most drought tolerant in this context. The above findings suggest that antioxidant metabolism is a important factor for plant recovery post‐rehydration. Our study provides insights into antioxidant and physiological responses of peanut cultivars, which can support breeding programs for selection of drought‐tolerant genotypes. Future field studies should be conducted for a better understanding of tolerance of these cultivars, particularly through correlation of these data with crop yield impact.

Abstract:Photosynthesis, understood as the photosynthetic carbon assimilation rate, is one of the key processes affected by drought stress. The effects can be via decreased CO2 diffusion and biochemical constraints. However, there is still no unified consensus about the contribution of each mechanism to the drought response. This research assessed the underlying limitations to photosynthesis in nine peanut genotypes (Arachis hypogaea L.) with different water strategies (water savers vs water spenders) under progressive drought. Water saver cultivars close the stomata earlier during drought, resulting in decreased transpiration and photosynthesis, which results in less water depletion in the soil, while water spenders maintain the stomata open during drought. In order to test the performance of these genotypes, growth, transpiration per plant, gas exchange measurements, chlorophyll fluorescence and A/Ci response curves were analyzed under drought and well‐watered conditions. In general, drought first affected photosynthesis (at the leaf and canopy level) via stomatal closure and then by impacts on chlorophyll fluorescence in all genotypes, but at different intensity levels. The maximum rate of carboxylation and the maximum rate of electron transport, physiological characteristics related to biochemical constraints, were not affected during the onset of drought, but they were decreased at the end of the drought period, with the exception of the PI 493329 genotype that showed higher stomatal conductance due to a bigger root system. The findings presented here highlight the importance of genetic variation in the photosynthetic response of peanut to drought, which should be considered when breeding for future climates.

Abstract:Background: Despite plant's ability to adapt and withstand challenging environments, drought poses a severe threat to their growth and development. Although pigeon pea is already quite resistant to drought, the prolonged dehydration induced by the aberrant climate poses a serious threat to their survival and productivity. Objective: Comparative physiological and transcriptome analyses of drought-tolerant (CO5) and drought-sensitive (CO1) pigeon pea genotypes subjected to drought stress were carried out in order to understand the molecular basis of drought tolerance in pigeon pea. Methods: The transcriptomic analysis allowed us to examine how drought affects the gene expression of C. cajan. Using bioinformatics tools, the unigenes were de novo assembled, annotated, and functionally evaluated. Additionally, a homology-based sequence search against the droughtDB database was performed to identify the orthologs of the DEGs. Results: 1102 potential drought-responsive genes were found to be differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between drought-tolerant and drought-sensitive genotypes. These included Abscisic acid insensitive 5 (ABI5), Nuclear transcription factor Y subunit A-7 (NF-YA7), WD40 repeat-containing protein 55 (WDR55), Anthocyanidin reductase (ANR) and Zinc-finger homeodomain protein 6 (ZF-HD6) and were highly expressed in the tolerant genotype. Further, GO analysis revealed that the most enriched classes belonged to biosynthetic and metabolic processes in the biological process category, binding and catalytic activity in the molecular function category and nucleus and protein-containing complex in the cellular component category. Results of KEGG pathway analysis revealed that the DEGs were significantly abundant in signalling pathways such as plant hormone signal transduction and MAPK signalling pathways. Consequently, in our investigation, we have identified and validated by qPCR a group of genes involved in signal reception and propagation, stress-specific TFs, and basal regulatory genes associated with drought response. Conclusion: In conclusion, our comprehensive transcriptome dataset enabled the discovery of candidate genes connected to pathways involved in pigeon pea drought response. Our research uncovered a number of unidentified genes and transcription factors that could be used to understand and improve susceptibility to drought.
Overexpression of P5CDH from Cleistogenes songorica improves alfalfa growth performance under field drought conditions

Abstract:Water stress affects the metabolic regulation and delays the growth and development of alfalfa, causing a reduction in biomass. New alfalfa germplasm was created with improved drought tolerance in greenhouse conditions by introducing the key gene P5CDH1 from C. songorica, a xerophytic grass. However, the field adaptability and response mechanism of new drought-tolerant alfalfa germplasms under water stress are still unclear. In the present study, the yield and quality traits of transgenic CsP5CDH1 alfalfa lines under water stress and normal irrigation conditions were measured and analyzed for two years. The genetic variance components of the tested traits were calculated from the data fitted by the mixed linear model. The plant height of all lines showed significant genotypic variation (σ2g) (P < 0.05), and the stem diameter, stem number, and dry weight of all lines had a significant genotype × environment interaction (σ2ge) (P < 0.05). The heritability (H) of plant height, stem diameter, stem number, dry weight and leaf-to-stem ratio of alfalfa lines were 0.87, 0.52, 0.59, 0.52 and 0.50, respectively. There were significant genotype × environment interactions (σ2ge) (P < 0.05) for the quality traits of all lines. The heritabilities (H) of acid detergent fiber and neutral detergent fiber were 0.65 and 0.64, respectively. The results of transcriptional expression analysis with RNA-seq showed that the genes MsProDH1, MsProDH4, MsProDH5, MsP5CDH1, MsP5CS5, MsP5CS9, and MsP5CR1, which are involved in the proline metabolism pathway, played an important role in the drought tolerance of innovative alfalfa germplasm. Under water stress, with the regulation of key genes in the proline metabolism pathway, the proline content of all alfalfa lines increased to varying degrees. Among them, the proline content in the shoots and roots of transgenic line L6 was 7.29 times and 12.22 times that under normal irrigation conditions, respectively. The present study helped to clarify that the new germplasm of alfalfa transformed with the CsP5CDH gene synthesized a large amount of proline under water stress, and effectively slowed leaf water loss, thus improving the drought resistance of alfalfa.

Abstract:Drought is one of the most stressful environmental factor causing yield and economic losses in many soybean-producing regions. In the last decades, transcription factors (TFs) are being used to develop genetically modified plants more tolerant to abiotic stresses. Dehydration responsive element binding (DREB) and ABA-responsive element-binding (AREB) TFs were introduced in soybean showing improved drought tolerance, under controlled conditions. However, these results may not be representative of the way in which plants behave over the entire season in the real field situation. Thus, the objectives of this study were to analyze agronomical traits and physiological parameters of AtDREB1A (1Ab58), AtDREB2CA (1Bb2193), and AtAREB1 (1Ea2939) GM lines under irrigated (IRR) and non-irrigated (NIRR) conditions in a field experiment, over two crop seasons and quantify transgene and drought-responsive genes expression. Results from season 2013/2014 revealed that line 1Ea2939 showed higher intrinsic water use and leaf area index. Lines 1Ab58 and 1Bb2193 showed a similar behavior to wild-type plants in relation to chlorophyll content. Oil and protein contents were not affected in transgenic lines in NIRR conditions. Lodging, due to plentiful rain, impaired yield from the 1Ea2939 line in IRR conditions. qPCR results confirmed the expression of the inserted TFs and drought-responsive endogenous genes. No differences were identified in the field experiment performed in crop season 2014/2015, probably due to the optimum rainfall volume during the cycle. These field screenings showed promising results for drought tolerance. However, additional studies are needed in further crop seasons and other sites to better characterize how these plants may outperform the WT under field water deficit.

Abstract:The yield and quality of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.), an oil crop planted worldwide, are often limited by drought stress (DS) and nitrogen (N) deficiency. To investigate the molecular mechanism by which peanut counteracts DS and N deficiency, we conducted comprehensive transcriptomic and metabolomic analyses of peanut leaves. Herein, 829 known differentially accumulated metabolites, 324 differentially expressed transcription factors, and 5294 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified under different water and N conditions. The transcriptome analysis demonstrated that drought-related DEGs were predominantly expressed in "glycolysis/gluconeogenesis" and "glycerolipid metabolism", while N-deficiency-related DEGs were mainly expressed in starch and sucrose metabolism, as well as in the biosynthesis of amino acid pathways. The biosynthesis, transport, and catabolism of secondary metabolites accounted for a large proportion of the 1317 DEGs present in water and N co–limitation. Metabolomic analysis showed that the metabolic accumulation of these pathways was significantly dependent on the stress conditions. Additionally, the roles of metabolites and genes in these pathways, such as the biosynthesis of amino acids and phenylpropanoid biosynthesis under different stress conditions, were discussed. The results demonstrated that different genes, metabolic pathways, and metabolites were related to DS and N deficiency. Thus, this study elucidates the metabolic pathways and functional genes that can be used for the improvement of peanut resistance to abiotic stress.

Abstract:The development of drought tolerant plants is a high priority because the area suffering from drought is expected to increase in the future due to global warming. One strategy for the development of drought tolerance is to genetically engineer plants with transcription factors (TFs) that regulate the expression of several genes related to abiotic stress defense responses. This work assessed the performance of soybean plants overexpressing the TF DREB1A under drought conditions in the field and in the greenhouse. Drought was simulated in the greenhouse by progressively drying the soil of pot cultures of the P58 and P1142 lines. In the field, the performance of the P58 line and of 09D-0077, a cross between the cultivars BR16 and P58, was evaluated under four different water regimes: irrigation, natural drought (no irrigation) and water stress created using rain-out shelters in the vegetative or reproductive stages. Although the dehydration-responsive element-binding protein (DREB) plants did not outperform the cultivar BR16 in terms of yield, some yield components were increased when drought was introduced during the vegetative stage, such as the number of seeds, the number of pods with seeds and the total number of pods. The greenhouse data suggest that the higher survival rates of DREB plants are because of lower water use due to lower transpiration rates under well watered conditions. Further studies are needed to better characterize the soil and atmospheric conditions under which these plants may outperform the non-transformed parental plants.

Genome-Wide Identification and Expression Analysis of AP2/ERF Transcription Factor Related to Drought Stress in Cultivated Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.)

Abstract:APETALA2/ethylene response element-binding factor (AP2/ERF) transcription factors (TFs) have been found to regulate plant growth and development and response to various abiotic stresses. However, detailed information of AP2/ERF genes in peanut against drought has not yet been performed. Herein, 185 AP2/ERF TF members were identified from the cultivated peanut (A. hypogaea cv. Tifrunner) genome, clustered into five subfamilies: AP2 (APETALA2), ERF (ethylene-responsive-element-binding), DREB (dehydration-responsive-element-binding), RAV (related to ABI3/VP), and Soloist (few unclassified factors)). Subsequently, the phylogenetic relationship, intron-exon structure, and chromosomal location of AhAP2/ERF were further characterized. All of these AhAP2/ERF genes were distributed unevenly across the 20 chromosomes, and 14 tandem and 85 segmental duplicated gene pairs were identified which originated from ancient duplication events. Gene evolution analysis showed that A. hypogaea cv. Tifrunner were separated 64.07 and 66.44 Mya from Medicago truncatula L. and Glycine max L., respectively. Promoter analysis discovered many cis-acting elements related to light, hormones, tissues, and stress responsiveness process. The protein interaction network predicted the exitance of functional interaction among families or subgroups. Expression profiles showed that genes from AP2, ERF, and dehydration-responsive-element-binding subfamilies were significantly upregulated under drought stress conditions. Our study laid a foundation and provided a panel of candidate AP2/ERF TFs for further functional validation to uplift breeding programs of drought-resistant peanut cultivars.

Abstract:Soybean is one of the important oil crops and a major source of protein and lipids. Drought can cause severe soybean yields. Dehydrin protein (DHN) is a subfamily of LEA proteins that play an important role in plant responses to abiotic stresses. In this study, the soybean GmDHN9 gene was cloned and induced under a variety of abiotic stresses. Results showed that the GmDHN9 gene response was more pronounced under drought induction. Subcellular localization results indicated that the protein was localized in the cytoplasm. The role of transgenic Arabidopsis plants in drought stress response was further studied. Under drought stress, the germination rate, root length, chlorophyll, proline, relative water content, and antioxidant enzyme content of transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana transgenic genes were higher than those of wild-type plants, and transgenic plants contained less O 2 − , H 2 O 2 and MDA contents. In short, the GmDHN9 gene can regulate the homeostasis of ROS and enhance the drought resistance of plants.

Abstract:Drought stress affects growth and productivity significantly in chickpea. An integrated multi-omics analysis can provide a better molecular-level understanding of drought stress tolerance. In the present study, comparative transcriptome, proteome and metabolome analyses of two chickpea genotypes with contrasting responses to drought stress, ICC 4958 (drought-tolerant, DT) and ICC 1882 (drought-sensitive, DS), was performed to gain insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying drought stress response/tolerance. Pathway enrichment analysis of differentially abundant transcripts and proteins suggested the involvement of glycolysis/gluconeogenesis, galactose metabolism, and starch and sucrose metabolism in the DT genotype. An integrated multi-omics analysis of transcriptome, proteome and metabolome data revealed co-expressed genes, proteins and metabolites involved in phosphatidylinositol signaling, glutathione metabolism and glycolysis/gluconeogenesis pathways, specifically in the DT genotype under drought. These stress-responsive pathways were coordinately regulated by the differentially abundant transcripts, proteins and metabolites to circumvent the drought stress response/tolerance in the DT genotype. The QTL-hotspot associated genes, proteins and transcription factors may further contribute to improved drought tolerance in the DT genotype. Altogether, the multi-omics approach provided an in-depth understanding of stress-responsive pathways and candidate genes involved in drought tolerance in chickpea.
