Abstract:Background: Creativity is a multifaceted, complex, activity, and as such is an overarching function of the brain rather than being confined to a specific structure or region.Alzheimer's disease effects several cognitive domains involved in the creative process of producing art. Objective: We analyze the art of a well-known Swedish visual artist who suffered from Alzheimer's disease to determine if, and in what way, his art and creative process might have been influenced by the disease. Methods: We compared his artistic process and artwork along with information from his spouse, medical r ecords, and cognitive tests as well as reviews of exhibitions written by art critics. Results: We show that not only did the artist continue to produce artwork well into a major decline in cognitive function, according to commonly used tests, but he could continue to do so for even longer with some assistance from his spouse. However, the artwork changed considerably as the disease progressed. We hypothesize that there is a substantial lack of representation of creative ability and function in cognitive tests. Conclusions: Signs of the Alzheimer's disease can be seen in the early artwork if viewed by critics and those with more specialized knowledge into the artist's production. Further analysis of the complex interaction between complex neural activities, such as artistic creativity, and cognitive diseases is warranted and might provide insight in the field of neurological degenerative disease.
Art Attendance and Change in Cognitive Function Among US Community-Dwelling Chinese Older Adults

Abstract:Engaging in leisure activities that are cognitively simulating and enjoyable may be protective against cognitive decline in older adults; yet, few studies have examined this topic. We used two waves of data from the Population Study of Chinese Elderly and ran mixed-effects regression models to examine the relationship between baseline art activity attendance (including attending museum, musical arts, or both) and change in cognitive function (global, episodic memory, working memory, and executive function) among 2,703 older U.S. Chinese adults. We found that compared with older adults who did not attend any art activities, those who reported attending both art activities experienced a slower rate of change in episodic memory (estimate = -0.07; SE = 0.03; p = .01) and executive function (estimate = -0.06; SE = .03; p = .04). Our study findings point to the importance of attending art-based culture events among U.S. Chinese older adults.

Abstract:Primary progressive aphasia (PPA) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by the deterioration of language functions. The Han language bears some unique features from the Latin languages; however, the features of PPA in the Han language-speaking population are not well understood. In this study, we performed a 3-year follow-up on a Han language-speaking PPA patient with corresponding changes in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). During the early stage, linguistic analysis revealed several symptoms including difficulty with auditory comprehension, right-left disorientation, reading disorders, and agraphia, specifically the execution of serial oral instructions. This Chinese PPA patient presented with a reading disorder, but his word comprehension ability remained intact. There are two different possible modalities of incorrect writing in this case. The patient also presented with noun-verb double dissociation. The early-stage MRI showed atrophy of the left frontal lobe, which was most severe in the inferior frontal gyrus. Three years later, the patient was found to have progressive atrophy in the parietal, frontal, and temporal lobes, among which the frontal lobe remained the most severely affected region. The brain imaging of the Chinese-speaking PPA patient showed changes similar to those of a Latin language-speaking PPA patient. The prominent change was asymmetrical atrophy in the frontal and temporal lobes. This is the first report of noun-verb double dissociation existing in a Chinese-language speaking PPA patient. The dissociation may be related to an impaired function of the inferior frontal gyrus, which is likely associated with verb-naming in Chinese-speaking people. Several unique features were observed in this case, including impairment in writing ability.
Effects of a nurse-led staged integral art-based cognitive intervention for older adults on the Alzheimer's disease spectrum: A randomized controlled trial

Abstract:Background: Combined art activities can improve the neural network function within various brain regions involved in emotions, cognition, and behavior, thereby preventing or reversing cognitive decline. However, few studies have systematically examined its effects. Furthermore, the impact of nurse-led art-based cognitive intervention on cognitive and psychological health is unclear. Objective: To evaluate the effects of a nurse-led staged integral art-based cognitive intervention in older adults on the Alzheimer's disease spectrum. Design: This was a randomized wait-list controlled trial with allocation concealment and blinding of outcome assessors and data analysts. All data were collected between April 2021 and January 2023 and analyzed from January to March 2023. Setting: One memory clinic and four medical partnership communities. Participants: A total of 144 participants with subjective or objective memory decline (aged ≥60 years). Methods: Participants were randomized into an intervention group (n = 72) and a wait-list control group (n = 72), in a 1:1 ratio. The intervention group underwent a 16-week, 24-session nurse-led staged integral art-based cognitive intervention program, which was based on neurocognitive function training patterns. The control group underwent the program after the follow-up assessment. General and specific domains of cognitive function and other health-related outcomes were measured at baseline (T0), immediately after the intervention (T1), and at the 6-month follow-up (T2). Results: Of the 144 participants (mean [SD] age, 71.6 [5.8] years; 50 [34.7 %] males and 94 [65.3 %] females), 130 and 115 completed the questionnaires at T1 and T2, respectively. The average attendance rate in the intervention group was 86.0 %. At T1, the intervention group showed greater improvement than the control group did in general cognitive functions (MoCA, between-group mean difference, 1.4 [95 % CIs, 0.4 to 2.5], p = 0.009). Additionally, the intervention group demonstrated statistically significant improvement compared to the control group in language, memory, quality of life, sleep quality and physical activity level at T1. Statistically significant group differences remained in sleep quality (PSQI, between-group mean difference, -1.3 [95 % CIs, -2.5 to -0.1], p = 0.035) at the 6-month follow-up. Conclusions: In this randomized controlled trial of a nurse-led staged integral art-based cognitive intervention program, older adults on the Alzheimer's disease spectrum who participated in the program experienced improved cognition and psychological health. Registration: This study was registered with ChiCTR.org (ChiCTR2100044959) on April 3, 2021. Abstract:Art is an expression of neurological function and how it organizes and interprets perception. Recent reports of changes in art performance among patients with frontotemporal dementia have provided an unexpected window to the neurology of art. They confirm that visual art is predominantly in the right hemisphere and suggest a neuroanatomical schema for artistic creativity. The right parietal region is critical for the visuospatial prerequisites of art, and the right temporal lobe integrates and interprets these percepts. The right temporal lobe appears necessary for extracting and exaggerating the essential features of an artistic composition. In contrast, the left parietal region and the left temporal lobe have inhibitory effects on artistic expression through attention to visuospatial detail and semantic labeling, respectively. Frontal-executive functions are also required for artistic expression, particularly right dorsolateral frontal initiation of a network for novelty-seeking behavior. Further study of art in dementia can profitably evaluate this proposed schema for the mechanisms of art in the brain.

Abstract:Dementia is a general term for a series of medical conditions that affect the brain and evolve progressively. According to the literature, there are over 200 subtypes and causes of dementia, with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) being the most common in elderly people. AD is an irreversible progressive neurodegenerative condition that leads to a decline in mental function, enough to disrupt daily life. Thinking skills slowly deteriorate, which, in advanced stages, makes it impossible to perform simple tasks. Besides the change in the quality of life of AD patients and their families, there is a considerable alteration in the quality of life of their caregivers, whose health can be negatively affected by the development of mental and somatic disorders. This article reviews the literature in order to reveal the benefits of applying non-pharmacological interventions such as music and art therapy to improve quality of life. This article also aims to shed light on the impact of this disease on the caregiver’s life. Music and art therapy have produced reliable results in the treatment of patients with AD, and the best effects are related to increased socialization and the maintenance of social status.

Parkinson's disease and changes in the appreciation of art: A comparison of aesthetic and formal evaluations of paintings between PD patients and healthy controls

Abstract:Parkinson's disease (PD) is a progressing neurodegenerative disease predominantly involving the loss of dopamine producing neurons with hallmark symptoms of motor disorders and cognitive, motivational, emotional, and perceptual impairments. Intriguingly, PD can also be connected-often anecdotally-with a sudden burst of artistic creativity, motivation, or changed quality/style of produced art. This has led to growing empirical interest, promising a window into brain function and the unique neurological signature of artists. This topic also fits a growing interest from researchers in other areas, including Alzheimer's or other dementia, which have suggested that specific changes in art production/appraisal may provide a unique basis for therapy, diagnosis, or understanding of these diseases. However, whether PD also shows similar impacts on how we perceive and evaluate art has never been systematically addressed. We compared a cohort of PD patients against age-matched healthy controls, asking participants to rate paintings using scales of liking and beauty and terms pertaining to artworks' formal and conceptual qualities previously designed to provide a rubric for symptom identification. We found no evidence for PD-related differences in liking or beauty. However, PD patients showed higher ratings on assessed "emotionality," potentially relating to the tie between PD, dopamine pathways, and emotion/reward.
Effects of Art and Reminiscence Therapy on Agitated Behaviors Among Older Adults With Dementia

Abstract:Background: Cognitive degeneration and agitated behavior symptoms of dementia in older adults are the main causes of disability and inability and increase the cost of medical care. Agitated behavior symptoms of dementia are the main causes of early institutionalization and make caregivers exhausted. Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the effects of art therapy and reminiscence therapy on the alleviation of agitated behaviors in older adults with dementia. Methods: An experimental research design with two experimental groups and one comparison group was conducted to examine the effects for each group on agitated behaviors. Participants were recruited from two dementia care centers in central and northern Taiwan. The study included 54 older individuals who met the sampling criteria and completed the data collection process. The participants were randomly allocated into the art therapy group (n = 24), the reminiscence therapy group (n = 22), and the comparison group (n = 8). The intervention consisted of 50-minute sessions conducted weekly for 12 weeks. Regular activities were continued in the comparison group. The structured questionnaires were completed, and observations of agitated behaviors were collected before the intervention and at 1 and 6 weeks after the intervention. Results: Significant differences were found in agitated behavior symptoms at the three time points in the art therapy group, whereas reminiscence therapy was found to have had a clear and immediate effect on decreasing agitated behavior. The generalized estimating equation exchange model test revealed a significant and sustained, postintervention effect of art therapy on agitated behavior. In contrast, no significant and sustained effect on agitated behavior was observed in the reminiscence therapy group. Conclusions: The findings of this study support that art therapy may have a positive effect on dementia-associated agitated behaviors in institutionalized older adults. Reminiscence therapy activities conducted weekly for 50 minutes each session did not reach statistically significant implications. It is suggested that future studies consider conducting art and reminiscence therapies for a 16-week duration with two weekly sessions to evaluate the effectiveness of the therapy. The duration of follow-up should be extended as well in future studies.

Abstract:OBJECTIVES:Progressive cognitive decline is a characteristic hallmark of AD. It is important to identify prognostic markers to improve patient care and long-term planning. We aimed to identify the characteristics of disease progression in AD patients, focusing on cognitive decline and its related factors.METHODS:Clinically diagnosed AD patients in a memory clinic were followed. The mini-mental state examination (MMSE) and a battery of other neuropsychological tests were performed to assess the rate of cognitive decline and to analyze the related factors.RESULTS:A total of 165 AD patients were analyzed for cognitive changes. The MMSE scores declined at a rate of 1.52 points per year. Most neuropsychological test scores deteriorated significantly over time. Younger and early-onset AD patients deteriorated more rapidly than older and late-onset patients in global cognition and executive function. Men declined faster in memory but slower in attention than women. Higher education was associated with more rapid deterioration in visuo-spatial ability. Family history, hypertension and cerebral vascular disease were also associated with disease progression.CONCLUSION:Attention, executive and visuo-spatial functions deteriorate at faster rates than other cognitive functions in AD patients. Age and age at onset were the main factors that associated with deterioration.

Survival of Ethnic Chinese With Alzheimer's Disease: A 5-Year Longitudinal Study in Taiwan

Abstract:Survival time and mortality risk factors in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) have been documented in Western countries, but comparable information on the ethnic Chinese is scarce. We consecutively recruited 159 AD patients and 145 control subjects from the Memory Clinic of Taipei Veterans General Hospital. After admission to the study, each subject received clinical, neuropsychological, and psychiatric evaluation and apolipoprotein E genotyping. Survival status was followed for 5 years. Forty-six AD patients (28.9%) and 3 control subjects (2.1%) died during the 5-year follow-up period. The mean survival time for AD patients was 4.48 years (SD = 0.1 years) after the time of enrollment. Among individuals with AD, those with severe disease, older patients, and those experiencing hallucinations were at greater risk for increased mortality. As expected, AD shortened life expectancy in these patients. The factors found to correlate with a shorter life span may suggest effective health care strategies for AD patients. Visual Arts Education improves self-esteem for persons with dementia and reduces caregiver burden: A randomized controlled trial

Abstract:A Visual Arts Education program was tested among 26 pairs of persons with dementia and their caregivers. Pairs were randomized to Visual Arts Education or control groups, and each group met once per week for two months (8 weeks) to participate in activities with a trained arts instructor. Groups were assessed at baseline, two months, and six months. The Visual Arts Education group received instruction and produced a different type of artistic work each week. The pedagogical strategy was designed so that each activity was increasingly novel, challenging, and complex. The control group viewed slide shows, participated in discussions about art, and made paintings. At the six-month follow-up, significant improvements in caregiver burden and self-esteem for the persons with dementia were found in the Visual Arts Education group. The Visual Arts Education pedagogical approach shows the potential for effectiveness for improving quality of life for persons with dementia and their caregivers.
Self-Reported Beneficial Effects of Chinese Calligraphy Handwriting Training for Individuals with Mild Cognitive Impairment: An Exploratory Study

Abstract:Background: Dementia is a common disease in aging populations. The treatment has mainly focused on memory decline prevention and behavior control. Nonpharmacological treatments, such as cognition training, physical exercise, and music therapy have been effective in slowing memory decline. Chinese calligraphy handwriting (CCH) through breath regulation and fine hand control involves high concentration levels, emotion regulation, and self-awareness. CCH is a mind and body activity that is culturally relevant to older Chinese adults. This study evaluated the beneficial effects of CCH on mild cognitive impairment. Methods: In 2018, we conducted 8 weeks of CCH training at the Tri-Service General Hospital. The participants were asked to copy a regular script. At the end of the course, they gave oral presentations and showed their work. Self-report questionnaires on emotion, memory, upper limb coordination, attention, and language were collected before and after training. Results: The five questionnaires showed significantly positive feelings after CCH training. The conditions of emotional stability, concentration, hand movement, memory, and speech improved. Conclusions: CCH training stimulated the brain and improved cognition, psychological symptoms, and hand stability. It is inexpensive and worthwhile for elderly Chinese individuals with mild cognitive impairment to take time daily to practice calligraphy.

Abstract:The high prevalence of dementia with the rapid increase of the older population and the lack of effective therapy raise the global issues of human life with aging. All the cases diagnosed as Alzheimer's Disease (AD) in the memory clinic of Huashan Hospital Shanghai, China from Jan. 1st 2003 through Dec.31th 2006 were included in this study. The participants were followed via face-to-face clinical and neuropsychological reassessment during September 1, 2007 and July 31, 2008. Those who could not come to the hospital were followed by telephone. Demographic information, the change of cognitive function, behavior, ability of daily life, neurological symptoms, comorbid conditions (aspiration pneumonia, urinary tract infections and decubitus ulcers) were collected. Correlation analysis and logistic regression analysis were conducted to identify the predictors associated with the deterioration of cognitive function. Among the 624 initially clinical diagnosed AD patients, 16 were excluded after diagnosis verification. 608 confirmed AD cases were enrolled in final analysis. 400 cases were followed (163 came to our hospital to receive the whole neuropsychological battery which included auditory verbal fluency test (AVLT), logic memory test, Stroop color word test, Rey-Osterrich complex figure test (CFT), category verbal fluency test (VFT), trail making test (TMT), clock drawing test (CDT), five point test. 237 received telephone follow-up), 69 cases died and the rest 139 lost contact. For the 163 reassessed cases, MMSE total score (p = 0.000), AVLT short delayed recall (p = 0.019), Stroop C correct score (p = 0.002), CFT-copy (p = 0.000), VFT (p = 0.001-0.017), TMT B time(p = 0.030), CDT score(p = 0.013) decreased significantly over time. Among demographic information, previous medical history, family history and comorbid/complications no factor had significant regression with the change of cognition. Memory may be the main affected domain in the early stage of AD. When the disease progressed to the moderate to severe stage, it tended to affect across all cognitive field with no exception.
Bridging Art Therapy and Neuroscience: Emotional Expression and Communication in an Individual With Late-Stage Alzheimer’s

Abstract:Although individual and group art therapy is beneficial for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease (AD), progression of the disease negatively affects visual processing, which suggests the need to modify art-based interventions. This case study (N = 1) used a psychological well-being scale to compare nonmodified art therapy for an individual with advanced AD and a modified, visually enhanced art therapy intervention for the participant’s emotional expression and communication skills. The intervention was tailored to overcome disease-related visuo-perceptual deficits. Findings suggest positive changes in 4 domains of psychological well-being: (a) engagement, (b) expression of pleasure, (c) enhanced self-esteem, and (d) expression of emotions and feelings during AD adapted, visually enhanced art therapy sessions. Further research is needed to support these results.

The Effects of Normal Aging, Subjective Cognitive Decline, Mild Cognitive Impairment, or Alzheimer’s Disease on Visual Search

Abstract:Background: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) has been confirmed as an influencing factor of visual impairment, but potential concomitant effects on visual and cognitive performance are not well understood. Objective: To provide a new method for early screening of Alzheimer’s disease and further explore the theoretical mechanism of the decline of whole visual and cognitive performance in AD. Methods: We studied 60 individuals without dementia as normal control (NC), 74 individuals with subjective cognitive decline (SCD), 60 individuals with amnesia mild cognitive impairment (aMCI), and 75 patients with AD on a battery of tests designed to measure multiple aspects of basic and higher-order visual perception and cognition. All subjects performed on same visual and cognitive test batteries. Results: The results showed both of four groups, with the stimulus-presentation time being longer, the visual-search performance improved, and both the eye interest-area first fixation duration and the interest-area-fixation count increased. Particularly under the noise-masking condition, the AD group performed the worst at stimulus-presentation times between 300 and 900 ms. The aMCI group, but not the SCD group, performed worse than the NC group at the stimulus-presentation time of either 300 or 500 ms. The interest-area-fixation count was higher in all the patient groups than that in the NC group, and distinguishable between participants with AD and those with SCD or aMCI. Conclusion: The visual-search performance combined with eye-movement tracking under the noise-masking condition can be used for distinguishing AD from normal aging, SCD, and aMCI.
Art therapies and cognitive function in elderly with subjective cognitive decline: a protocol for a network meta-analysis

Abstract:Introduction Subjective cognitive decline means a decline in the subjective perception of self-cognitive function, which is likely to evolve into mild cognitive impairment and dementia. The number of elderly with subjective cognitive decline has increased, bringing huge burdens and challenges to caregivers and society. With the increase in research on art therapies, some of them have gradually been proven to be effective for cognitive function. Therefore, this study aims to summarise the evidence and identify the best art therapy for elderly with subjective cognitive decline. Methods and analysis We will include published randomised controlled trials written in English and Chinese if the intervention is one of the art therapies and applied in people aged 60 and above with subjective cognitive decline. Eight electronic databases, including the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, PubMed, Web of Science, Elsevier, China BioMedical Literature Database, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP Database and Wanfang Database, will be searched from January 2013 to December 2023. Art therapies will mainly include music therapy, reminiscence therapy, painting therapy, dance therapy, reading therapy, horticultural therapy, museum therapy, calligraphy therapy and so on. The outcome will be cognitive function. Study selection, data extraction and quality assessment will be performed by two reviewers. The risk of bias will be evaluated according to the Cochrane Collaboration's risk-of-bias tool, and the evidence quality will be assessed with the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation. Standard pairwise meta-analysis and Bayesian network meta-analysis will be conducted. The probabilities of each art therapy will be ranked based on the surface under the cumulative ranking curve. Ethics and dissemination Ethical approval is not required for reviewing published studies. To provide important evidence for clinicians and guideline developers, the findings of this study will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal. PROSPERO registration number CRD42023443773.

Analysis of Effect of Music and Art Combined with Kinect Game Therapy in Improving the Cognitive Function and Alleviating Negative Emotions of Alzheimer's Disease Patients in a Residential Aged Care Facilities

Abstract:Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a major disease that affects neurological, cognitive, and memory functions in older adults, and care for AD patients needs to be more specialized and targeted. Objective: To analyze the effect of music and art combined with Kinect game therapy as a special care on improving cognitive function and alleviating negative emotions in AD patients in a nursing facility. Methods: One hundred AD patients admitted to a residential aged care facility in Changsha, Hunan Province, China, from December 2020 to December 2022, were selected as the study subjects. They were divided into the observation group (OG; n=50) for special care of music art combined with Kinect game therapy and the control group (CG; n=50) for conventional care. The activities of daily living scale (ADL) and mini-mental state examination (MMSE) were used to assess the neurological and cognitive functional changes in the two groups before and after the nursing intervention. The Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) and self-rating scale of sleep (SRSS) were used to assess the quality of sleep in both groups, and the GQOL-74 scale was used to evaluate the quality of life before and after the intervention. The negative emotions were tested by the self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale (SDS). Finally, patient satisfaction with the care was investigated. Results: After the nursing intervention, scores of ADL, PSQI, SRSS, SAS and SDS of the OG were lower compared with the CG, while MMSE and GQOL-74 scores were higher (P < .05). The results of the nursing satisfaction survey were also higher in the OG than in the CG (P < .05). Conclusion: The combined music and art therapy with Kinect game therapy in elderly institutions can effectively enhance AD patients' neurological and cognitive functions, improve their sleep and quality of life, and alleviate negative emotions.

Abstract:The high prevalence of dementia with the rapid increase of the older population and the lack of effective therapy raise the global issues of human life with aging. All the cases diagnosed as Alzheimer's Disease (AD) in the memory clinic of Huashan Hospital Shanghai, China from Jan. 1st 2003 through Dec.31th 2006 were included in this study. The participants were followed via face-to-face clinical and neuropsychological reassessment during September 1, 2007 and July 31, 2008. Those who could not come to the hospital were followed by telephone. Demographic information, the change of cognitive function, behavior, ability of daily life, neurological symptoms, comorbid conditions (aspiration pneumonia, urinary tract infections and decubitus ulcers) were collected. Correlation analysis and logistic regression analysis were conducted to identify the predictors associated with the deterioration of cognitive function. Among the 624 initially clinical diagnosed AD patients, 16 were excluded after diagnosis verification. 608 confirmed AD cases were enrolled in final analysis. 400 cases were followed (163 came to our hospital to receive the whole neuropsychological battery which included auditory verbal fluency test (AVLT), logic memory test, Stroop color word test, Rey-Osterrich complex figure test (CFT), category verbal fluency test (VFT), trail making test (TMT), clock drawing test (CDT), five point test. 237 received telephone follow-up), 69 cases died and the rest 139 lost contact. For the 163 reassessed cases, MMSE total score (p = 0.000), AVLT short delayed recall (p = 0.019), Stroop C correct score (p = 0.002), CFT-copy (p = 0.000), VFT (p = 0.001-0.017), TMT B time(p = 0.030), CDT score(p = 0.013) decreased significantly over time. Among demographic information, previous medical history, family history and comorbid/complications no factor had significant regression with the change of cognition. Memory may be the main affected domain in the early stage of AD. When the disease progressed to the moderate to severe stage, it tended to affect across all cognitive field with no exception.
Progressive Memory Circuit Impairments along with Alzheimer's Disease Neuropathology Spread: Evidence from in vivo Neuroimaging

Abstract:During the progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD), neuropathology may propagate transneuronally, cause disruption in memory circuit, and lead to memory impairment. However, there is a lack of in vivo evidence regarding this process. Thus, we aim to simulate and observe the progression of neuropathology in AD continuum. We included cognitively normal (CN), mild cognitive impairments (MCI), and AD subjects, and further classified them using the A/T/N scheme (Group 0: CN, A - T-; Group 1: CN, A + T-; Group 2: CN, A + T+; Group 3: MCI, A + T+; Group 4: AD, A + T+). We investigated alterations of three core memory circuit structures: hippocampus (HP) subfields volume, cingulum-angular bundles (CAB) fiber integrity, and precuneus cortex volume. HP subfields volume showed the trend of initially increased and then decreased (starting from Group 2), while precuneus volume decreased in Groups 3 and 4. The CAB integrity degenerated in Groups 3 and 4 and aggravated with higher disease stages. Further, memory circuit impairments were correlated with neuropathology biomarkers and memory performance. Conclusively, our results demonstrated a pattern of memory circuit impairments along with AD progression: starting from the HP, then propagating to the downstream projection fiber tract and cortex. These findings support the tau propagation theory to some extent.
