Enterprising Education and Employability Cultivation of College Students: Experiences and Inspiration of British Universities

Abstract:Lack of employability has become a prominent problem of college students. Their knowledge, ability, and skill level and so on lag far behind the requirement of companies and jobs. Strengthening entrepreneurship education as well as theoretical knowledge learning will enable students to understand enterprises and their needs, think and act like business persons, thus help them enhance their employability and establish a more flexible employment orientation. Universities in England make much thorough exploration on entrepreneurship education. Lincoln Business School, belonging to University of Lincoln, establishes a framework integrating entrepreneurship education and degree courses, which includes five aspects: student's personality development, skills development, hands-on learning, work experience learning, and vocational guidance. Meanwhile, it values training of faculties' entrepreneurship education ability. Through these measures, it makes significant and positive effect on students' employability. China's universities can learn from foreign counterparts, gradually introduce entrepreneurship education combining with domestic circumstances, and strengthen teachers training, systemically improve the students' employability.
