Abstract:A new practical approach to molecular magnetism was suggested. First, for the complicated magnetic exchange system with unquenched orbital angular momentum a general form of the effective Hamiltonian including an intercluster exchange interaction of the self-consistent field was introduced. On the basis of the irreducible tensor operator method the practical approach was established, and accomplished by the BJMAG package, where a new strategy to automatically search more good quantum numbers was adopted to solve further block diagonalization in the eigenvalue problem. Finally, potentiality of the approach to isotropic Heisenberg spin clusters was tested through two high-nuclearity clusters, the nonamer cluster and the Mn-7-cluster compound as representative examples. Shifted Witten classes and topological recursion

Abstract:The Witten $r$-spin class defines a non-semisimple cohomological field theory. Pandharipande, Pixton and Zvonkine studied two special shifts of the Witten class along two semisimple directions of the associated Dubrovin--Frobenius manifold using the Givental--Teleman reconstruction theorem. We show that the $R$-matrix and the translation of these two specific shifts can be constructed from the solutions of two differential equations that generalise the classical Airy differential equation. Using this, we prove that the descendant intersection theory of the shifted Witten classes satisfies topological recursion on two $1$-parameter families of spectral curves. By taking the limit as the parameter goes to zero for these families of spectral curves, we prove that the descendant intersection theory of the Witten $r$-spin class can be computed by topological recursion on the $r$-Airy spectral curve. We finally show that this proof suffices to deduce Witten's $r$-spin conjecture, already proved by Faber, Shadrin and Zvonkine, which claims that the generating series of $r$-spin intersection numbers is the tau function of the $r$-KdV hierarchy that satisfies the string equation.

Abstract:Not all complete set of spinors can be used as expansion coefficients of a quantum field. In fact, Steven Weinberg established the uniqueness of Dirac spinors for this purpose provided: (a) one paid due attention to the multiplicative phases for each of the spinors, and (b) one paired these to creation and annihilation operators in a specific manner. This is implicit in his implementation of the rotational symmetry for the spin half quantum field. Among the numerous complete set of spinors that are available to a physicist, Elko occupies a unique status that allows it to enter as expansion coefficients of a quantum field without violating Weinberg's no go theorem. How this paradigm changing claim arises is the primary subject of this communication. Weinberg's no go theorem is evaded by exploiting a uniquely special feature of Elko that allows us to introduce a doubling of the particle-antiparticle degrees of freedom from four to eight. Weinberg had dismissed this degeneracy on the ground that, "no examples are known of particles that furnish unconventional representations of inversions." Here we will find that this degeneracy, once envisioned by Eugene Wigner, in fact gives rise to a quantum field that has all the theoretical properties required of dark matter.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a connected reductive group over the complex numbers and let $T\subset G$ be a maximal torus. For any $t\in T$ of finite order and any irreducible representation $V(\lambda)$ of $G$ of highest weight $\lambda$, we determine the character $ch(t, V(\lambda))$ by using the Lefschetz Trace Formula due to Atiyah-Singer and explicitly determining the connected components and their normal bundles of the fixed point subvariety $(G/P)^t\subset G/P$ (for any parabolic subgroup $P$). This together with Wirtinger's theorem gives an asymptotic formula for $ch(t, V(n\lambda))$ when $n$ goes to infinity.

Abstract:The transition from unitary, reversible von Neumann-Everett quantum processes to non-unitary, irreversible processes and measurements is explored through infinite tensor products interpreted as nested, chained, or iterated Wigner's friend scenarios. Infinite tensor products can disrupt unitary equivalence through sectorization and factorization, drawing parallels to concepts from real analysis, recursive mathematics, and statistical physics.

Abstract:A bstract We analyze the rainbow tensor model and present the Virasoro constraints, where the constraint operators obey the Witt algebra and null 3-algebra. We generalize the method of W -representation in matrix model to the rainbow tensor model, where the operators preserving and increasing the grading play a crucial role. It is shown that the rainbow tensor model can be realized by acting on elementary function with exponent of the operator increasing the grading. We derive the compact expression of correlators and apply it to several models, i.e., the red tensor model, Aristotelian tensor model and r = 4 rainbow tensor model. Furthermore, we discuss the case of the non-Gaussian red tensor model and present a dual expression for partition function through differentiation.

A two-tensor model with order-three

Abstract:We construct a two-tensor model with order-3 and present its $W$-representation. Moreover we derive the compact expressions of correlators from the $W$-representation and analyze the free energy in large $N$ limit. In addition, we establish the correspondence between two colored Dyck walks in the Fredkin spin chain and tree operators in the ring. Based on the classification Dyck walks, we give the number of tree operators with the given level. Furthermore, we show the entanglement scaling of Fredkin spin chain beyond logarithmic scaling in the ordinary critical systems from the viewpoint of tensor model.

Abstract:Gapless surface states of time reversal invariant topological insulators are protected by the anti-unitary nature of the time reversal operation. Very recently, this idea was generalized to magnetic structures, in which time reversal symmetry is explicitly broken, but there is still an anti-unitary symmetry operation combining time reversal symmetry and crystalline symmetry. These topological phases in magnetic structures are dubbed "topological magnetic crystalline insulators". In this work, we present a general theory of topological magnetic crystalline insulators in different types of magnetic crystals based on the co-representation theory of magnetic crystalline symmetry groups. We construct two concrete tight-binding models of topological magnetic crystalline insulators, the $\hat{C}_4\Theta$ model and the $\hat{\bf \tau}\Theta$ model, in which topological surface states and topological invariants are calculated explicitly. Moreover, we check different types of anti-unitary operators in magnetic systems and find that the systems with $\hat{C}_4\Theta$, $\hat{C}_6\Theta$ and $\hat{\bf \tau}\Theta$ symmetry are able to protect gapless surface states. Our work will pave the way to search for topological magnetic crystalline insulators in realistic magnetic materials.

Abstract:The Hermitian, complex and fermionic two-matrix models with infinite set of variables are constructed. We show that these two-matrix models can be realized by the $W$-representations. In terms of the $W$-representations, we derive the compact expressions of correlators for these two-matrix models.

Abstract:Abstract We present an operator algebraic approach to Wigner's unitary-antiunitary theorem using some classical results from ring theory. To show how effective this approach is, we prove a generalization of this celebrated theorem for Hilbert modules over matrix algebras. We also present a Wigner-type result for maps on prime C *-algebras.

Abstract:The spectral theory of operator matrices has several applications in elasticity, quantum mechanics, fluid dynamics, and other fields of mathematical physics. The study of operator matrices is more challenging when the involved operators are not single-valued and should be studied in the context of the theory of relations. In this paper, we utilize the connection between linear relations and their induced operators and use space decomposition methods to characterize the distribution of the spectrum for upper triangular relation matrices. We undertake the same for the essential spectrum, Weyl spectrum, and Browder spectrum. Under certain conditions, we obtain a Browder-type theorem and a Weyl-type theorem for such relation matrices.

Abstract:In this paper we use the term 'physical tensor' to stand for a tensor that belongs to a tensor subspace. Based on the relationship among the characters of rotation representation, some techniques are developed in order to give the numbers of independent deviatoric tensors contained in the irreducible decompositions of physical tensors, even prior to the constructions of the irreducible decompositions. A number of examples are shown and many of them are new results.

Abstract:Based on the entangled state representation for describing electron's coordinates under uniform magnetic field, we establish a one-to-one correspondence between quantum Hamiltonian and its classical Weyl function through the introduction of Wigner operator. We also study some new important properties of Wigner function of electron's quantum states, such as its upper bound, and its relation with electron's wave function. These discussions demonstrate the beauty and elegance of the entangled state representation.

Abstract:We give a fermionic formula for $R$-matrices of exterior powers of the vector representations of $U_q(\widehat{ \mathfrak{gl}}_N)$ and relate it to the dynamical Weyl group of Tarasov--Varchenko and Etingof--Varchenko, via a Howe ($\mathfrak{gl}_N,\mathfrak{gl}_M)$-duality. In the limit $N\to\infty$ we obtain $R$-matrices for Fock spaces. As a consequence of our result we obtain a dynamical action of the Weyl group on integrable $U_q\mathfrak{gl}_M$-modules, extending the known action on zero weight spaces. In an Appendix by Anfisa Gurenkova it is shown that the latter property also holds if we replace $\mathfrak{gl}_M$ by a general symmetrizable Kac--Moody algebra.

Universality of the Wigner-Gurau limit for random tensors

Abstract:In this article, we develop a combinatorial approach for studying moments of the resolvent trace for random tensors proposed by Razvan Gurau. Our work is based on the study of hypergraphs and extends the combinatorial proof of moments convergence for Wigner's theorem. This also opens up paths for research akin to free probability for random tensors. Specifically, trace invariants form a complete basis of tensor invariants and constitute the moments of the resolvent trace. For a random tensor with entries independent, centered, with the right variance and bounded moments, we prove the convergence of the expectation and bound the variance of the balanced single trace invariant. This implies the universality of the convergence of the associated measure towards the law obtained by Gurau in the Gaussian case, whose limiting moments are given by the Fuss-Catalan numbers. This generalizes Wigner's theorem for random tensors. Additionally, in the Gaussian case, we show that the limiting distribution of the $k$-times contracted $p$-order random tensor by a deterministic vector is always the Wigner-Gurau law at order $p-k$, dilated by $\sqrt{\binom{p-1}{k}}$. This establishes a connection with the approach of random tensors through the matrix study of the $p-2$ contractions of the tensor.

Abstract:We introduce and study the generalized Wigner operator. By definition, such an operator transforms the Wigner wave function into a local relativistic field corresponding to an irreducible representation of the Poincaré group by extended discrete transformations, with integer helicities $\lambda$ and $-\lambda$. It is shown that the relativistic fields constructed in this way are gauge potentials and satisfy the relations that determine free massless higher spin fields.

Abstract:We derive an effective recursion for Witten's r-spin intersection numbers, using Witten's conjecture relating r-spin numbers to the Gel'fand-Dikii hierarchy (Theorem 4.1). Consequences include closed-form descriptions of the intersection numbers (for example, in terms of gamma functions: Propositions 5.2 and 5.4, Corollary 5.5). We use these closed-form descriptions to prove Harer-Zagier's formula for the Euler characteristic of M_{g,1}. Finally in Section 6, we extend Witten's series expansion formula for the Landau-Ginzburg potential to study r-spin numbers in the small phase space in genus zero. Our key tool is the calculus of formal pseudodifferential operators, and is partially motivated by work of Brezin and Hikami.

Abstract:This paper is devoted to the semiclassical magnetic Laplacian. Until now WKB expansions for the eigenfunctions were only established in presence of a non-zero electric potential. Here we tackle the pure magnetic case. Thanks to Feynman-Hellmann type formulas and coherent states decomposition, we develop here a magnetic Born-Oppenheimer theory. Exploiting the multiple scales of the problem, we are led to solve an effective eikonal equation in pure magnetic cases and to obtain WKB expansions. We also investigate explicit examples for which we can improve our general theorem: global WKB expansions, quasi-optimal estimates of Agmon and upper bound of the tunelling effect (in symmetric cases). We also apply our strategy to get more accurate descriptions of the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions in a wide range of situations analyzed in the last two decades.

Abstract:We show that the fermionic matrix model can be realized by W-representation. We construct the Virasoro constraints with higher algebraic structures, where the constraint operators obey the Witt algebra and null 3-algebra. The remarkable feature is that the character expansion of the partition function can be easily derived from such Virasoro constraints. It is a τ-function of the KP hierarchy. We construct the fermionic Aristotelian tensor model and give its W-representation. Moreover, we analyze the fermionic red tensor model and present the W-representation and character expansion of the partition function.
