Functional Analysis and Its Applications

Abstract:Topological spaces with separately continuous Mal'tsev operation, called quasi-Mal'tsev spaces, are considered. The existence of the free quasi-Mal'tsev space generated by an arbitrary completely regular Hausdorff space is proved. It is shown that any quasi-Mal'tsev space is a quotient of a free quasi-Mal'tsev space. It is also shown that the topology of a free quasi-Mal'tsev space has a simple and natural description in terms of the generating space. Finally, it is proved that any completely regular Hausdorff quasi-Mal'tsev space is a retract of a quasi-topological group.

Abstract:Let λ and μ be sequence spaces and have both the signed-weak gliding hump property, (λ, μ) the algebra of the infinite matrix operators which transform λ into μ. In this paper, it is proved that if λ and μ are β-spaces and λ β and μ β have also the signed-weak gliding hump property, then for any polar topology τ, ((λ, μ), τ) is always sequentially complete locally convex topological algebra.

Abstract:A difficult question arising in the study of effect algebras is how to equip them with a fitting and proper topology such that the topology is compatible with the partial operations ⊕ and Θ. As we know, the Frink ideal topology is an important intrinsic topology for studying partially ordered set theory; in particular, it is the correct topology for chains and direct products of a finite number of chains. In this paper, we show that the Frink ideal topology is also a nice topology for studying effect-algebra theory since it provides the operations with some of the expected continuity properties.

Abstract:The famous Antosik-Mikusinski convergent theorem on the Abel topological groups has very extensive applications in measure theory, summation theory and other analysis fields. In this paper, we establish the theorem on a class of effect algebras equipped with the ideal topology. This paper shows also that the ideal topology of effect algebras is a useful topology in studying the quantum logic theory.

Abstract:We define the notions of unital/counital/biunital infinitesimal anti-symmetric bialgebras and coFrobenius bialgebras and discuss their algebraic properties. We also define the notion of a graded 2D open-closed TQFT. These structures arise in Rabinowitz Floer homology, loop space homology, quantum homology, and the homology of finite dimensional manifolds. The underlying vector spaces, which are typically infinite dimensional, belong to a class of topological vector spaces known as Tate vector spaces.

Grothendieck topology of $C^*$-algebras

Abstract:For any topological space there is a sheaf cohomology. A Grothendieck topology is a generalization of the classical topology such that it also possesses a sheaf cohomology. On the other hand any noncommutative $C^*$-algebra is a generalization of a locally compact Hausdorff space. Here we define a Grothendieck topology arising from $C^*$-algebras which is a generalization of the topology of the spectra of commutative $C^*$-algebras. This construction yields a noncommutative generalization of the sheaf cohomology of topological spaces. The presented here theory gives a unified approach to the Gelfand duality and the duality between the commutative von Neumann algebras and measure locales. The generalization of the Dixmier-Douady theory concerning $C^*$-algebras of foliations is also discussed.

Free algebras of topologically enriched multi-sorted equational theories

Abstract:Classical multi-sorted equational theories and their free algebras have been fundamental in mathematics and computer science. In this paper, we present a generalization of multi-sorted equational theories from the classical ($Set$-enriched) context to the context of enrichment in a symmetric monoidal category $V$ that is topological over $Set$. Prominent examples of such categories include: various categories of topological and measurable spaces; the categories of models of relational Horn theories without equality, including the categories of preordered sets and (extended) pseudo-metric spaces; and the categories of quasispaces (a.k.a. concrete sheaves) on concrete sites, which have recently attracted interest in the study of programming language semantics. Given such a category $V$, we define a notion of $V$-enriched multi-sorted equational theory. We show that every $V$-enriched multi-sorted equational theory $T$ has an underlying classical multi-sorted equational theory $|T|$, and that free $T$-algebras may be obtained as suitable liftings of free $|T|$-algebras. We establish explicit and concrete descriptions of free $T$-algebras, which have a convenient inductive character when $V$ is cartesian closed. We provide several examples of $V$-enriched multi-sorted equational theories, and we also discuss the close connection between these theories and the presentations of $V$-enriched algebraic theories and monads studied in recent papers by the author and Lucyshyn-Wright.

Abstract:Through the subsequent discussion we consider a certain particular sort of (topological) algebras, which may substitute the `` structure sheaf algebras'' in many--in point of fact, in all--the situations of a geometrical character that occur, thus far, in several mathematical disciplines, as for instance, differential and/or algebraic geometry, complex (geometric) analysis etc. It is proved that at the basis of this type of algebras lies the sheaf-theoretic notion of (functional) localization, which, in the particular case of a given topological algebra, refers to the respective ``Gel'fand transform algebra'' over the spectrum of the initial algebra. As a result, one further considers the so-called ``geometric topological algebras'', having special cohomological properties, in terms of their ``Gel'fand sheaves'', being also of a particular significance for (abstract) differential-geometric applications; yet, the same class of algebras is still ``closed'', with respect to appropriate inductive limits, a fact which thus considerably broadens the sort of the topological algebras involved, hence, as we shall see, their potential applications as well.

Abstract:Topological structure is introduced on some classic effect algebras, and so the effect algebras become topolo-gical effect algebras. We prove that the direct sum of two topological effect algebras is still topological effect algebra, and the fuzzy system of topological effect algebra is still topological effect algebra. Continious map between topological effect algebras are given, and the continuity of morphisms, monomorphisms and isomorphic are discussed. Finally, it is proved that the set of all continious maps from a topological effect algebra to another is also a topological effect algebra.

Abstract:In this article topologies on metagroups are studied. They are related with generalized $C^*$-algebras over ${\bf R}$ or ${\bf C}$. Homomorphisms and quotient maps on them are investigated. Structure of topological metagroups is scrutinized. In particular, topologies on smashed products and smashed twisted wreath products of metagroups are scrutinized, which are making them topological metagroups. Moreover, their inverse homomorphism systems are studied.

Abstract:In this study, we aim to solve the open problem posed by Zahiri and Borzooei [23], i.e., given an arbitrary linear topological BL-algebra (L,U), under what condition does its topology U coincides with the new one V induced by a system of filters. We investigate this problem for both finite BL-algebras and infinite BL-algebras. In the finite case, we give a necessary and sufficient condition. In the infinite case, we consider the conditions where the original topology U is zero-dimensional and (L,V) is an l–BL-algebra, respectively. In addition, we modify some examples of topological BL-algebras mentioned by Borzooei et al.

The interaction between their intrinsic combinatorial and topological structures makes finite spaces a useful tool for studying problems in Topology, Algebra and Geometry from a new perspective. In particular, the methods developed in this manuscript are used to study Quillen’s conjecture on the poset of p-subgroups of a finite group and the Andrews-Curtis conjecture on the 3-deformability of contractible two-dimensional complexes. Hindman's finite sums theorem and its application to topologizations of algebras

Abstract:The first part of the paper is a brief overview of Hindman's finite sums theorem, its prehistory and a few of its further generalizations, and a modern technique used in proving these and similar results, which is based on idempotent ultrafilters in ultrafilter extensions of semigroups. The second, main part of the paper is devoted to the topologizability problem of a wide class of algebraic structures called polyrings; this class includes Abelian groups, rings, modules, algebras over a ring, differential rings, and others. We show that the Zariski topology of such an algebra is always non-discrete. Actually, a much stronger fact holds: if $K$ is an infinite polyring, $n$ a natural number, and a map $F$ of $K^n$ into $K$ is defined by a term in $n$ variables, then $F$ is a closed nowhere dense subset of the space $K^{n+1}$ with its Zariski topology. In particular, $K^n$ is a closed nowhere dense subset of $K^{n+1}$. The proof essentially uses a multidimensional version of Hindman's finite sums theorem established by Bergelson and Hindman. The third part of the paper lists several problems concerning topologization of various algebraic structures, their Zariski topologies, and related questions.

Abstract:The finite group (or profinite) topology was first introduced for the free group by M. Hall, Jr. and by Reutenauer for free monoids. This is the initial topology defined by all the monoid morphisms from the free monoid into a discrete finite group. The p-adic topology is defined in the same way by replacing “group” by “p-group” in the definition. In this paper we study the properties of these topologies and their connexions with the theory of formal languages.

Abstract:We construct universal monoidal categories of topological tensor supermodules over the Lie superalgebras $\mathfrak{gl}(V\oplus \Pi V)$ and $\mathfrak{osp}(V\oplus \Pi V)$ associated with a Tate space $V$. Here $V\oplus \Pi V$ is a $\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z}$-graded topological vector space whose even and odd parts are isomorphic to $V$. We discuss the purely even case first, by introducing monoidal categories$\widehat{\mathbf{T}}_{\mathfrak{gl}(V)}$, $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}_{\mathfrak{o}(V)}$ and $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}_{\mathfrak{sp}(V)}$, and show that these categories are anti-equivalent to respective previously studied categories $\mathbb{T}_{\mathfrak{gl}(V)}$, $\mathbb{T}_{\mathfrak{o}(V)}$, $\mathbb{T}_{\mathfrak{sp}(V)}$. These latter categories have certain universality properties as monoidal categories, which consequently carry over to $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}_{\mathfrak{gl}(V)}$, $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}_{\mathfrak{o}(V)}$ and $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}_{\mathfrak{sp}(V)}$. Moreover, the categories $\mathbb{T}_{\mathfrak{o}(V)}$ and $\mathbb{T}_{\mathfrak{sp}(V)}$ are known to be equivalent, and this implies the equivalence of the categories $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}_{\mathfrak{o}(V)}$ and $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}_{\mathfrak{sp}(V)}$. After introducing a supersymmetric setting, we establish the equivalence of the category $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}_{\mathfrak{gl}(V)}$ with the category $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}_{\mathfrak{gl}(V\oplus \Pi V)}$, and the equivalence of both categories $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}_{\mathfrak{o}(V)}$ and $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}_{\mathfrak{sp}(V)}$ with $\widehat{\mathbf{T}}_{\mathfrak{osp}(V\oplus \Pi V)}$.

Abstract:We define the notion of a twisted topological graph algebra associated to a topological graph and a 1-cocycle on its edge set. We prove a stronger version of a Vasselli's result. We expand Katsura's results to study twisted topological graph algebras. We prove a version of the Cuntz-Krieger uniqueness theorem, describe the gauge-invariant ideal structure. We find that a twisted topological graph algebra is simple if and only if the corresponding untwisted one is simple.

Abstract:We find a basis of the free Malcev algebra on three free generators over a field of characteristic zero. The specialty and semiprimity of this algebra are proved. In addition, we prove the decomposability of this algebra into subdirect sum of the free Lie algebra rank three and the free algebra of rank three of variety of Malcev algebras generated by a simple seven-dimensional Malcev algebra.

Abstract:Two types of topologies J and J*are established on the set MF( L) of all maximal filters in a BL algebra L. It is proved that ( MF( L) , J) is a compact Hausdorff space, and ( MF( L) , J*) is a T1 space.Also, we show that J and J* are the same topology if the related universe is either finite or infinite linearly ordered.

Abstract:We identify a class of smooth Banach *-algebras that are differential subalgebras of commutative C*-algebras whose openness of multiplication is completely determined by the topological stable rank of the target C*-algebra. We then show that group algebras of Abelian groups of unbounded exponent fail to have uniformly open convolution. Finally, we completely characterise in the complex case (uniform) openness of multiplication in algebras of continuous functions in terms of the covering dimension.
