Abstract:In this paper, we study the rigidity problem on closed locally conformally flat manifolds with constant k-curvature or constant quotient curvature. We prove that such manifolds must have constant sectional curvature under the assumption that the manifolds have positive sectional curvature. The same result is also held on closed locally conformally flat manifolds with totally geodesic boundary.

Abstract:We prove that the existence of one horosphere in the universal cover of a closed Riemannian manifold of dimension with strongly -pinched or relatively -pinched sectional curvature, on which the stable holonomy along one horosphere coincides with the Riemannian parallel transport, implies that the manifold is homothetic to a real hyperbolic manifold.

Abstract:Let M 2 be a compact Willmore surface in the (2 + p )-dimensional unit sphere S 2 + p . Denote by H and S the mean curvature and the squared length of the second fundamental form of M 2 , respectively. Set ρ 2 = S −2 H 2 . In this note, we proved that there exists a universal positive constant C , such that if ∥ ρ 2 ∥ 2 < C , then ρ 2 =0 and M 2 is a totally umbilical sphere.

Abstract:Let M be an n-dimensional oriented compact submanifold with parallel mean curvature in the unit sphere $S^{n+p}$. Denote by H and S the mean curvature and the squared length of the second fundamental form of M, respectively. We obtain a classification theorem of M if it satisfies $S+\lambda _2\le \alpha (n,H)$, where $\lambda _{2}$ is the second largest eigenvalue of the fundamental matrix and $\alpha (n,H)$ is defined as in Theorem B.
On a Rigidity Result in Positive Scalar Curvature Geometry

Abstract:I prove a scalar curvature rigidity theorem for spheres. In particular, I prove that geodesic balls of radii strictly less than $\frac{\pi}{2}$ in $n+1~(n\geq 2)$ dimensional unit sphere are rigid under smooth perturbations that increase scalar curvature preserving the intrinsic and extrinsic geometry of the boundary, and such rigidity result fails for the hemisphere. The proof of this assertion requires the notion of a real Killing connection and solution of the boundary value problem associated with its Dirac operator. The result serves as the sharpest refinement of the now-disproven Min-Oo conjecture.

Rigidity of Totally Geodesic Hypersurfaces in Negative Curvature

Abstract:Let $M$ be a closed hyperbolic manifold containing a totally geodesic hypersurface $S$, and let $N$ be a closed Riemannian manifold homotopy equivalent to $M$ with sectional curvature bounded above by $-1$. Then it follows from the work of Besson-Courtois-Gallot that $\pi_1(S)$ can be represented by a hypersurface $S'$ in $N$ with volume less than or equal to that of $S$. We study the equality case: if $\pi_1(S)$ cannot be represented by a hypersurface $S'$ in $N$ with volume strictly smaller than that of $S$, then must $N$ be isometric to $M$? We show that many such $S$ are rigid in the sense that the answer to this question is positive. On the other hand, we construct examples of $S$ for which the answer is negative.

Abstract:We show that a bijection $f:\mathbb{H}^2\rightarrow\mathbb{H}^2$ of the hyperbolic plane that sends horocycles to horocycles (respectively hypercycles to hypercycles) is an isometry. This extends a previous result of J. Jeffers on geodesics to all curves with constant curvature in $\mathbb{H}^2$. We go beyond by showing that every abstract automorphism of the geodesic graph (respectively horocycles and hypercycles graphs) is induced by an earthquake map (respectively an isometry) of $\mathbb{H}^2$. This shadowed the difference between the geometry of geodesics and that of horocycles/hypercycles.

Abstract:Let $(M,g)$ be a closed connected oriented (possibly non-spin) smooth four-dimensional manifold with scalar curvature bounded below by $n(n-1)$. In this paper, we prove that if $f$ is a smooth map of non-zero degree from $(M, g)$ to the unit four-sphere, then $f$ is an isometry. Following ideas of Gromov, we use $\mu$-bubbles and a version with coefficients of the rigidity of the three-sphere to rule out the case of strict inequality. Our proof of rigidity is based on the harmonic map heat flow coupled with the Ricci flow.

On some rigidity theorems of Q-curvature

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the rigidity of Q-curvature. Specifically, we consider a closed, oriented $n$-dimensional ($n\geq6$) Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ and prove the following results under the condition $\int_{M} \nabla R\cdot\nabla \mathrm{Q}\mathrm{d} V_g\leq0$. (1) If $(M,g)$ is locally conformally flat with nonnegative Ricci curvature, then $(M,g)$ is isometric to a quotient of $\mathbb{R}^n$, $\mathbb{S}^n$, or $\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{S}^{n-1}$. (2) If $(M,g)$ has $\delta^2 W=0$ with nonnegative sectional curvature, then $(M,g)$ is isometric to a quotient of the product of Einstein manifolds. Additionally, we investigate some rigidity theorems involving Q-curvature about hypersurfaces in simply-connected space forms. We also show the uniqueness of metrics with constant scalar curvature and constant Q-curvature in a fixed conformal class.

Abstract:Let M be an n-dimensional closed submanifold with parallel mean curvature in Sn+p, (h) over tilde, it the trace free part of the second fundamental form, and (sigma) over tilde (u) = parallel to(h) over tilde (u, u)parallel to(2) for any unit vector u is an element of TM. We prove that there exists a positive constant C(n, p, H) (>= 1/3) such that if (sigma) over tilde (u) <= C(n. p, H), then either (sigma) over tilde (u) equivalent to 0 and M is a totally umbilical sphere, or (sigma) over tilde (u) equivalent to C(n, p, H). A geometrical classification of closed submanifolds with parallel mean curvature satisfying (sigma) over tilde (u) equivalent to C(n, p, H) is also given. Our main result is an extension of the Gauchman theorem [4].

Abstract:Let (N, g) be an n-dimensional complete Riemannian manifold with nonempty boundary partial derivative N. Assume that the Ricci curvature of (N, g) has a negative lower bound Ric >= -(n-1)c(2) for some c> 0, and the mean curvature of the boundary partial derivative N satisfies H = -(n-1) c(0) > (n-1)c for some c(0) > c > 0. Then a known result (cf. [12]) says that sup(x is an element of N) d(x, partial derivative N) <= 1/c coth(-1) c(0)/c. In this paper, we prove the rigidity result that if N is compact, then the equality holds if and only if (N, g) is isometric to the geodesic ball of radius 1/c coth(-1) c(0)/c in an n-dimensional hyperbolic space H-n(-c(2)) of constant sectional curvature -c(2). Moreover, we prove an analogous result for manifold with m-Bakry- Emery Ricci curvature bounded below by a negative constant.

Abstract:We prove that if $M^n(n\ge 4)$ is a compact Einstein manifold whose normalized scalar curvature and sectional curvature satisfy pinching condition $R_0>\sigma _{n}K_{\max }$, where $\sigma _n\in (\frac{1}{4},1)$ is an explicit positive constant depending only on $n$, then $M$ must be isometric to a spherical space form. Moreover, we prove that if an $n(\ge {\!\!4})$-dimensional compact Einstein manifold satisfies $K_{\min }\ge \eta _n R_0,$ where $\eta _n\in (\frac{1}{4},1)$ is an explicit positive constant, then $M$ is locally symmetric. It should be emphasized that the pinching constant $\eta _n$ is optimal when $n$ is even. We then obtain some rigidity theorems for Einstein manifolds under $(n-2)$-th Ricci curvature and normalized scalar curvature pinching conditions. Finally we extend the theorems above to Einstein submanifolds in a Riemannian manifold, and prove that if $M$ is an $n(\ge {\!\!4})$-dimensional compact Einstein submanifold in the simply connected space form $F^{N}(c)$ with constant curvature $c\ge 0$, and the normalized scalar curvature $R_0$ of $M$ satisfies $R_0>\frac{A_n}{A_n+4n-8}(c+H^2),$ where $A_n=n^3-5n^2+8n$, and $H$ is the mean curvature of $M$, then $M$ is isometric to a standard $n$-sphere.
Intrinsic rigidity of extremal horizons

Abstract:We prove that the intrinsic geometry of compact cross-sections of any vacuum extremal horizon must admit a Killing vector field. If the cross-sections are two-dimensional spheres, this implies that the most general solution is the extremal Kerr horizon and completes the classification of the associated near-horizon geometries. The same results hold with a cosmological constant. Furthermore, we also deduce that any non-trivial vacuum near-horizon geometry, with a non-positive cosmological constant, must have an SO(2,1) isometry in all dimensions under no symmetry assumptions. We also show that, if the cross-sections are two-dimensional, the horizon Einstein equation is equivalent to a single fourth order PDE for the Kähler potential, and that this equation is explicitly solvable on the sphere if the corresponding metric admits a Killing vector.
