Abstract:In the last forty years, many scientists used graph theory to develop mathematical models for analyzing structures and properties of various chemical compounds. In this paper, we will establish formulas and bounds for generalized first Zagreb Index and coindex, which are based on degrees of vertices. In addition, for triangle and quadrangle free graphs, we will establish formulas and bounds for generalized first leap Zagreb Index and coindex, which are based on 2-distance degrees of vertices. Additionally, we will establish sharp bounds of generalized first Zagreb index and the leap index for various types of graphs and provide examples for which the sharp bounds are attained. In addition, we will find regression models and compare the first Zagreb index and the first leap Zagreb index for predicting some physicochemical properties of certain chemical compounds, benzenoid hydrocarbons.

Abstract:The spectral radius of a graph is the largest eigenvalue of adjacency matrix of the graph and its Laplacian spectral radius is the largest eigenvalue of the Laplacian matrix which is the difference of the diagonal matrix of vertex degrees and the adjacency matrix. Some sharp bounds are obtained for the (Laplacian) spectral radii of connected graphs. As consequences, some (sharp) upper bounds of the Nordhaus–Gaddum type are also obtained for the sum of (Laplacian) spectral radii of a connected graph and its connected complement.

Abstract:The signless Laplacian matrix graph is the sum of its degree diagonal and adjacency matrices. In this paper, we present a sharp upper bound for the spectral radius of the adjacency matrix of a graph. Then this result and other known results are used to obtain two new sharp upper bounds for the signless Laplacian spectral radius. Denote ((alpha)t)(i) = Sigma(i similar to j) d(j)(alpha) and ((alpha)m)(i) = ((alpha)t)i/d(i)(alpha), where alpha is a real number. In this paper, we obtain two sharp bounds on rho(G) in terms of ((alpha)m)(i) or ((alpha)t)(i), respectively. Also, we present some sharp bounds on the energy E(G). Abstract:Let G be a simple graph on n vertices, and let λ1,λ2,...,λn be the Laplacian eigenvalues of G . The Laplacian Estrada index of G is defined as LEE(G)=∑i=1neλi . Consider a graph G with n≥3 vertices, m edges, c connected components, and the largest Laplacian eigenvalue λn . Let Kn , Sn , and Kp,q ( p + q = n ) denote the complete graph, the star graph, and the complete bipartite graph on n vertices, respectively. In this paper, we establish that LEE(G)≥ne2mn+c+eλn−(c+1)eλnc+1 . Furthermore, we show that the equality holds if and only if G≅K ̄n (the complement of Kn ), G≅∪i=1c−1K1∪Sc+1 if n = 2 c , or G≅Kn2,n2 if G is a connected graph on an even number of vertices. As a consequence of this lower bound, we derive sharp lower bounds for the Laplacian Estrada index of a graph, considering its well-known graph parameters. This leads to improvements to some previously known lower bounds for the Laplacian Estrada index of a graph. Notably, we establish a sharp lower bound for the Laplacian Estrada index of a graph in terms of its maximum vertex degree. As an application, we demonstrate that the lower bound for the Laplacian Estrada index presented by Khosravanirad in [A Lower Bound for Laplacian Estrada Index of a Graph, MATCH Commun Math Comput Chem. 2013;70:175–180.] is not complete. Consequently, we provide a complete version of this lower bound.

Abstract:The paper presents two sharp upper bounds for the largest Laplacian eigenvalue of mixed graphs in terms of the degrees and the average 2-degrees, which improve and generalize the main results of Zhang and Li [Linear Algebra Appl. 353(2002)11-20], Pan [Linear Algebra Appl. 355(2002)287-295], respectively. Moreover, we also characterize some extreme graphs which attain these upper bounds. In last, some examples show that our bounds are improvement on some known bounds in some cases.

Abstract:In this paper, we first obtain a sharp upper bound for the eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix of the line graph of a graph. Then this result is used to present a sharp upper bound for the Laplacian eigenvalues. Another sharp upper bound is presented also. Moreover, we determine all extreme graphs which attain these upper bounds. In last, two examples illustrate that our results are, in some sense, best.

Abstract:We provide sharp bounds for the isoperimetric constants of infinite plane graphs (tessellations) with bounded vertex and face degrees. For example, if $G$ is a plane graph satisfying the inequalities $p_1 \leq \mbox{deg}\ v \leq p_2$ for $v \in V(G)$ and $q_1 \leq \mbox{deg}\ f \leq q_2$ for $f \in F(G)$, where $p_1, p_2, q_1$, and $q_2$ are natural numbers such that $1/p_i + 1/q_i \leq 1/2$, $i=1,2$, then we show that \[ \Phi (p_1, q_1) \leq \inf_S \frac{|\partial S|}{|V(S)|} \leq \Phi (p_2, q_2), \] where the infimum is taken over all finite nonempty subgraphs $S \subset G$, $\partial S$ is the set of edges connecting $S$ to $G \setminus S$, and $\Phi(p,q)$ is defined by \[ \Phi (p, q) = (p-2) \sqrt{1 - \frac{4}{(p-2)(q-2)}}. \] For $p_1=3$ this gives an affirmative answer to a conjecture by Lawrencenko, Plummer, and Zha from 2002, and for general $p_i$ and $q_i$ our result fully resolves a question posed in the book by Lyons and Peres from 2016, where they extended the conjecture of Lawrencenko et al. to the above form.

Furthermore, we also characterize some extreme graphs which attain these upper bounds. These results theoretically improve and generalize some known results.
