Abstract:Pál's isominwidth theorem states that for a fixed minimal width, the regular triangle has minimal area. A spherical version of this theorem was proven by Bezdek and Blekherman, if the minimal width is at most $\tfrac \pi 2$. If the width is greater than $\tfrac \pi 2$, the regular triangle no longer minimizes the area at fixed minimal width. We show that the minimizers are instead given by the polar sets of spherical Reuleaux triangles. Moreover, stability versions of the two spherical inequalities are obtained.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is, on a 2 - dimensional sphere, for a given minimum width \(w\), which convex bodies have the minimum area. Specifically, the author has studied the isominwidth problem in spherical geometry, especially the case when the width \(w>\frac{\pi}{2}\). ### Main problem description 1. **Background and motivation**: - Pál's isodiametric theorem states that in the Euclidean plane, for a fixed minimum width \(w\), the equilateral triangle has the minimum area among all convex bodies with width \(w\). - Bezdek and Blekherman proved that on the sphere \(S^{2}\), when the width \(w\leq\frac{\pi}{2}\), the equilateral triangle is still the convex body with the minimum area. - However, when the width \(w >\frac{\pi}{2}\), the equilateral triangle is no longer the convex body with the minimum area. 2. **Research objectives**: - The main objective of this paper is to study which convex bodies have the minimum area when the width \(w>\frac{\pi}{2}\). - The author found that at this time, the convex body with the minimum area is given by the polar sets of the spherical Reuleaux triangle. 3. **Main results**: - **Theorem 1.3**: For a convex body \(K\subset S^{2}\) with width \(w >\frac{\pi}{2}\), its area satisfies \[ \text{area}(K)\geq\text{area}(U^{\circ}_{\pi - w}), \] where \(U^{\circ}_{\pi - w}\) is the convex hull composed of three spherical caps with radius \(w-\frac{\pi}{2}\), and the centers of these spherical caps form an equilateral triangle with side length \(\pi - w\). The equality holds if and only if \(K\) is homeomorphic to \(U^{\circ}_{\pi - w}\). - **Theorem 1.4**: A stability version of the above theorem is given, that is, for convex bodies close to the minimum area, there are also corresponding estimates for their Hausdorff distances. ### Solution methods - **Polarity**: Use polarity transformation to transform the width problem into a diameter problem, thereby simplifying the analysis. - **Reuleaux triangle**: Introduce the concept of the spherical Reuleaux triangle and prove that its polar set is the convex body with the minimum area when the width is greater than \(\frac{\pi}{2}\). - **Stability analysis**: Through strict mathematical derivations, prove that in the case of a fixed width, the distance between a convex body close to the minimum area and its corresponding polar set is bounded. ### Conclusion This paper has solved the optimal solution of the isominwidth problem in spherical geometry when the width is greater than \(\frac{\pi}{2}\), and has provided stability results. This provides a theoretical basis for understanding and dealing with similar problems in high - dimensional spaces.
