Abstract:We consider the evolutionary $p$-Laplace equation in $\mathbb{R}^n$. For $p>n$, we construct a solution $u$ with a moving gradient singularity in the sense that $|\nabla u(x,t)|\to \infty$ for each $t$ as $x\to\xi(t)$, where $\xi:[0,\infty)\to\mathbb{R}^n$ is a given curve.

Abstract:In this paper, we establish a local gradient estimate for a $p$-Lpalacian equation with a fast growing gradient nonlinearity. With this estimate, we can prove a parabolic Liouville theorem for ancient solutions satisfying some growth restriction near infinity.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to study singular solutions for a one-dimensional nonlinear diffusion equation. Due to slow diffusion near singular points, there exists a solution with a singularity at a prescribed position depending on time. To study properties of such singular solutions, we define a minimal singular solution as a limit of a sequence of approximate solutions with large Dirichlet data. Applying the comparison principle and the intersection number argument, we discuss the existence and uniqueness of a singular solution for an initial-value problem, the profile near singular points and large-time behavior of solutions. We also give some results concerning the appearance of a burning core, convergence to traveling waves and the existence of an entire solution.

This solution satisfies some a priori estimates in $W_0^{1,p}(\Omega)$.

Abstract:We consider weak solutions $u:\Omega_{T}\rightarrow\mathbb{R}^{N}$ to parabolic systems of the type \[ u_{t}-\mathrm{div}\,A(x,t,Du)=f \qquad \mathrm{in}\ \Omega_{T}=\Omega\times(0,T), \] where $\Omega$ is a bounded open subset of $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ for $n\geq2$, $T>0$ and the datum $f$ belongs to a suitable Orlicz space. The main novelty here is that the partial map $\xi\mapsto A(x,t,\xi)$ satisfies standard $p$-growth and ellipticity conditions for $p>1$ only outside the unit ball $\{\vert\xi\vert<1\}$. For $p>\frac{2n}{n+2}$ we establish that any weak solution \[ u\in C^{0}((0,T);L^{2}(\Omega,\mathbb{R}^{N}))\cap L^{p}(0,T;W^{1,p}(\Omega,\mathbb{R}^{N})) \] admits a locally bounded spatial gradient $Du$. Moreover, assuming that $u$ is essentially bounded, we recover the same result in the case $1<p\leq\frac{2n}{n+2}$ and $f=0$. Finally, we also prove the uniqueness of weak solutions to a Cauchy-Dirichlet problem associated with the parabolic system above. We emphasize that our results include both the degenerate case $p\geq2$ and the singular case $1<p<2$.

Abstract:We prove a local higher integrability result for the gradient of a weak solution to parabolic double-phase systems of $p$-Laplace type when $\tfrac{2n}{n+2}< p\le2$. Abstract:We consider weak solutions to very singular parabolic equations involving a one-Laplace-type operator, which is singular and degenerate, and a $p$-Laplace-type operator with $\frac{2n}{n+2}<p<\infty$, where $n\ge 2$ denotes the space dimension. This type of equation is used to describe the motion of a Bingham flow. It has been a long-standing open problem of whether a spatial gradient of a weak solution is continuous in space and time. This paper aims to give an affirmative answer for a wide class of such equations. This equation becomes no longer uniformly parabolic near a facet, the place where a spatial gradient vanishes. To achieve our goal, we show local a priori Hölder continuity of gradients suitably truncated near facets. For this purpose, we consider a parabolic approximate problem and appeal to standard methods, including De Giorgi's truncation and comparisons with Dirichlet heat flows. Our method is a parabolic adjustment of our method developed to prove the corresponding statements for stationary problems.

Abstract:In the present paper we deal with a quasi-linear elliptic equation depending on a sublinear nonlinearity involving the gradient. We prove the existence of a nontrivial nodal solution employing the theory of invariant sets of descending flow together with sub-supersolution techniques, gradient regularity arguments, strong comparison principle for the -Laplace operator. The same conclusion is obtained for an eigenvalue problem under a different set of assumptions.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the local gradient regularity of non-negative weak solutions to doubly nonlinear parabolic partial differential equations of the type \begin{align*} \partial_t u^q - \mbox{div}\, A(x,t,Du)=0 \qquad\mbox{in $\Omega_T$}, \end{align*} with $q>0$, $\Omega_T=\Omega\times(0,T)\subset\mathbb{R}^{n+1}$ a space-time cylinder, and $A=A(x,t,\xi)$ a vector field satisfying standard $p$-growth conditions. Our main result establishes the local Hölder continuity of the spatial gradient of non-negative weak solutions in the super-critical fast diffusion regime $$0<p-1<q<\frac{n(p-1)}{(n-p)_+}.$$ This result is achieved by utilizing a time-insensitive Harnack inequality and Schauder estimates that are developed for equations of parabolic $p$-Laplacian type. Additionally, we establish a local $L^{\infty}$-bound for the spatial gradient.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the asymptotic behavior of positive solutions of the biharmonic equation $$ \Delta^2 u = u^p~~~~~~~in ~ B_1 \backslash \{0\}$$ with an isolated singularity, where the punctured ball $B_1 \backslash \{0\} \subset \mathbb{R}^n$ with $n\geq 5$ and $\frac{n}{n-4} < p < \frac{n+4}{n-4}$. This equation is relevant for the $Q$-curvature problem in conformal geometry. We classify isolated singularities of positive solutions and describe the asymptotic behavior of positive singular solutions without the sign assumption for $-\Delta u$. We also give a new method to prove removable singularity theorem for nonlinear higher order equations.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate a class of doubly nonlinear evolutions PDEs. We establish sharp regularity for the solutions in Hölder spaces. The proof is based on the geometric tangential method and intrinsic scaling technique. Our findings extend and recover the results in the context of the classical evolution PDEs with singular signature via a unified treatment in the slow, normal and fast diffusion regimes. In addition, we provide some applications to certain nonlinear evolution models, which may have their own mathematical interest.

Abstract:We study how the smoothness of the initial datum and the free term affect the global regularity properties of solutions to the Dirichlet problem for the class of parabolic equations of $p(x,t)$-Laplace type %with nonlinear sources depending on the solution and its gradient: \[ u_t-\Delta_{p(\cdot)}u=f(z)+F(z,u,\nabla u),\quad z=(x,t)\in Q_T=\Omega\times (0,T), \] with the nonlinear source $F(z,u,\nabla u)=a(z)|u|^{q(z)-2}u+|\nabla u|^{s(z)-2}(\vec c,\nabla u)$. It is proven the existence of a solution such that if $|\nabla u(x,0)|\in L^r(\Omega)$ for some $r\geq \max\{2,\max p(z)\}$, then the gradient preserves the initial order of integrability in time, gains global higher integrability, and the solution acquires the second-order regularity in the following sense: \[ \text{$|\nabla u(x,t)|\in L^r(\Omega)$ for a.e. $t \in (0,T)$}, \qquad \text{$|\nabla u|^{p(z)+\rho+r-2} \in L^1(Q_T)$ for any $\rho \in \left(0, \frac{4}{N+2}\right)$}, \] and \[ |\nabla u|^{\frac{p(z)+r}{2}-2}\nabla u\in L^2(0,T;W^{1,2}(\Omega))^N. \] The exponent $r$ is arbitrary and independent of $p(z)$ if $f\in L^{N+2}(Q_T)$, while for $f\in L^\sigma(Q_T)$ with $\sigma \in (2,N+2)$ the exponent $r$ belongs to a bounded interval whose endpoints are defined by $\max p(z)$, $\min p(z)$, $N$, and $\sigma$. Abstract:We study the Cauchy problem for $p$-adic nonlinear evolutionary pseudo-differential equations for complex-valued functions of a real positive time variable and p-adic spatial variables. Among the equations under consideration there is the p-adic analog of the porous medium equation (or more generally, the nonlinear filtration equation) which arise in numerous application in mathematical physics and mathematical biology. Our approach is based on the construction of a linear Markov semigroup on a p-adic ball and the proof of m-accretivity of the appropriate nonlinear operator. The latter result is equivalent to the existence and uniqueness of a mild solution of the Cauchy problem of a nonlinear equation of the porous medium type.
