On identities concerning integer parts

Abstract:In 2007 V. Zhuravlev discovered a family of identities concerning integer parts which are satisfied by the number $\frac{\sqrt{5}+1}{2}$. Some of these identities turned out to be characterization properties of the number $\frac{\sqrt{5}+1}{2}$. In this paper we are generalizing the simplest of these identities.

Abstract:Using a specific form of the triple product identity, polygonal number identities are stated. Further number identities are examined that can be considered identities related to modular sets of numbers. The identities can be used to give results on integer partitions with parts from numbers in modular arithmetic progression. This includes recursive formulas for the number of partitions using these modular parts. The triple product identity can derive further recursive formulas. Additionally, there is a recursive formula for the related sum of divisors function. The specific triple product identity provides a framework to examine all the identities and can be used to define related theta functions.

Abstract:The primary focus of this paper is overpartitions, a type of partition that plays a significant role in $q$-series theory. In 2006, Treneer discovered an explicit infinite family of congruences of overpartitions modulo $5$. In our research, we have identified explicit infinite families of congruences of overpartitions modulo $3,7,11$. This work reveals the connection between overpartitions and half-integral modular forms.

Abstract:This paper explores the properties of multipliers associated with discrete analogues of fractional integrals, revealing intriguing connections with Dirichlet characters, Euler's identity, and Dedekind zeta functions of quadratic imaginary fields. Employing Fourier transform techniques, the Hardy--Littlewood circle method, and a discrete analogue of the Stein--Weiss inequality on product space through implication methods, we establish $\ell^p\rightarrow\ell^q$ bounds for these operators. Our results contribute to a deeper understanding of the intricate relationship between number theory and harmonic analysis in discrete domains, offering insights into the convergence behavior of these operators.

Abstract:Since the study by Jacobi and Hecke, Hecke-type series have received a lot of attention. Unlike such series associated with indefinite quadratic forms, identities on Hecke-type series associated with definite quadratic forms are quite rare in the literature. Motivated by the works of Liu, we first establish many parameterized identities with two parameters by employing different $q$-transformation formulas and then deduce various Hecke-type identities associated with definite quadratic forms by specializing the choice of these two parameters. As applications, we utilize some of these Hecke-type identities to establish families of inequalities for several partition functions. Our proofs heavily rely on some formulas from the work of Zhi-Guo Liu.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider two particular binomial sums [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] which are inspired by two series for [Formula: see text] obtained by Guillera. We consider their divisibility properties and prove that they are divisible by [Formula: see text] for all integers [Formula: see text]. These divisibility properties are stronger than those divisibility results found by He, who proved the above two sums are divisible by [Formula: see text] with the WZ-method.

Abstract:The Rogers–Ramanujan identities and various analogous identities (Gordon, Andrews–Bressoud, Capparelli, etc.) form a family of very deep identities concerned with integer partitions. These identities (written in generating function form) are typically of the form “product side” equals “sum side,” with the product side enumerating partitions obeying certain congruence conditions and the sum side obeying certain initial conditions and difference conditions (along with possibly other restrictions). We use symbolic computation to generate various such sum sides and then use Euler’s algorithm to see which of them actually do produce elegant conjectured product sides. We not only rediscover many of the known identities but also discover some apparently new ones, as conjectures supported by strong mathematical evidence.

Abstract:We prove a number of new Rogers–Ramanujan type identities involving double, triple and quadruple sums. They were discovered after an extensive search using Maple. The main idea of proofs is to reduce them to some known identities in the literature. This is achieved by direct summation or the constant term method. We also obtain some new single-sum identities as consequences.

Abstract:In this paper, we study partitions of positive integers with restrictions involving squares. We mainly establish the following two results (which were conjectured by Sun in 2013): (i) Each positive integer $n$ can be written as $n=x+y+z$ with $x,y,z$ positive integers such that $x^2+y^2+z^2$ is a square, unless $n$ has the form $n=2^{a}3^{b}$ or $2^{a}7$ with $a$ and $b$ nonnegative integers. (ii) Each integer $n>7$ with $n\not=11,14,17$ can be written as $n=x+y+2z$ with $x,y,z$ positive integers such that $x^2+y^2+2z^2$ is a square.
