Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence problem of Ulrich bundles on a rational homogeneous space $G/P$ of type $B$, $C$ or $D$. We show that if the Picard number of $G/P$ is greater than or equal to $2$, then there are no irreducible homogeneous Ulrich bundles on $G/P$ with respect to the minimal ample class.

Abstract:This paper studies the Ulrich property of homogeneous vector bundles on rational homogenous varieties. We provide a criterion for an initialized irreducible homogeneous vector bundle on a rational homogeneous variety with any Picard number to be Ulrich with respect to any polarizations. This criterion extends Fonarev's result, which applies to rational homogeneous varieties with Picard number one. As an application, we show that rational homogeneous varieties with Picard number at least two of certain exceptional algebraic groups do not admit such homogeneous Ulrich bundles with respect to the minimal ample class.

Abstract:Let $V$ be a $K$-vector space of dimension $n+1$. In this paper, we focus our attention into the existence of irreducible homogeneous Ulrich bundles on flag manifolds $\FF(p, q,n)$ which parameterizes all chains of linear subspaces $L_{p} \subset L_{q} \subset \PP(V)$ of dimension $p< q$, respectively. We determine all irreducible homogeneous Ulrich bundles on $\FF(0,n-1,n)$ and we prove that there are exactly $2^{n-1}$. Similarly, we prove that $\FF(0,n-2,n)$ and $\FF(1,n-1,n)$ are also the support of irreducible homogeneous Ulrich bundles. On the other hand, we prove that $\FF(0,1,n)$ do not support any irreducible homogeneous Ulrich bundle. We end posing a conjecture concerning the existence of irreducible homogeneous Ulrich bundles on $\FF(p,q,n)$ in terms of $p$ and $q$.

Abstract:We consider a uniform r-bundle E on a complex rational homogeneous space X and show that if E is poly-uniform with respect to all the special families of lines and the rank r is less than or equal to some number that depends only on X, then E is either a direct sum of line bundles or unstable with respect to some numerical class of a line. So we partially answer a problem posted by Muñoz et al. (Eur J Math 6:430–452, 2020). In particular, if X is a generalized Grassmannian $${\mathcal {G}}$$ and the rank r is less than or equal to some number that depends only on X, then E splits as a direct sum of line bundles. So we improve the main theorem of Muñoz et al. (J Reine Angew Math (Crelles J) 664:141–162, 2012, Theorem 3.1) when X is a generalized Grassmannian. Moreover, by calculating the relative tangent bundles between two rational homogeneous spaces, we give explicit bounds for the generalized Grauert–Mülich–Barth theorem on rational homogeneous spaces.

Abstract:We characterize the existence of an Ulrich vector bundle on a variety $X \subset P^N$ in terms of the existence of a subvariety satisfying some precise conditions. Then we use this fact to prove that a complete intersection of dimension $n \ge 4$, which if $n=4$ is very general and not of type $(2,2)$, does not carry any Ulrich bundles of rank $r \le 3$ unless $n=4, r=2$ and $X$ is a quadric.

Abstract:We prove the existence of Ulrich bundles on cyclic coverings of $\mathbb{P}^n$ of arbitrary degree $d$. Given a relatively Ulrich bundle on a complete intersection subvariety, we construct a relatively Ulrich bundle on the ambient variety. As an application, we prove that there exists a rank $d$ Ulrich bundle on generic cyclic coverings of $\mathbb{P}^2$ of degree $d$ such that the degree of the branch divisor $d \cdot k$ is even. When $d \cdot k$ is odd, we also provide an estimation of the rank of the Ulrich bundle on generic cyclic coverings of $\mathbb{P}^2$.

Abstract:Let $E\to B$ be a complex analytic fiber bundle with fiber $F$, a flag variety over a compact complex manifold $B$. We shall obtain a description of the cohomology of $E$ when $B=X_\Gamma:=\Gamma\backslash X, E=Y_\Gamma:=\Gamma\backslash Y$ and $F=K/H$, a flag variety, where $Y=G/H$ and $X=G/K$, a Hermitian globally symmetric space of non-compact type with $G$ being a real, connected, non-compact, semisimple linear Lie group with no compact factors and simply connected complexification, $K\subset G$, a maximal compact subgroup, $H=Z_K(S)$, the centralizer in $K$ of a toral subgroup $S\subseteq K$ containing $Z(K)$, the center of $K$ and $\Gamma\subset G$, a uniform and torsionless lattice in $G$. We also obtain a description of the Picard group of $Y_\Gamma$ and $X_{\Gamma}$, for which the complexification of $G$ need not be simply connected. Moreover when $G$ is simple, we obtain the values of $ q$ for which $H^{p,q}(X_\Gamma)$ vanishes when $p=0,1$. This extends the results of R. Parthasarathy from $1980$, who considered (partially) the case $p=0$.

Abstract:We investigate the existence of Ulrich vector bundles on suitable $3$-fold scrolls $X_e$ over Hirzebruch surfaces $\mathbb{F}_e$, for any integer $e \geqslant 0$, which arise as tautological embeddings of projectivization of very-ample vector bundles on $\mathbb{F}_e$ that are uniform in the sense of Brosius and Aprodu--Brinzanescu. We explicitely describe components of moduli spaces of rank $r \geqslant 1$ vector bundles which are Ulrich with respect to the tautological polarization on $X_e$ and whose general point is a slope-stable, indecomposable vector bundle. We moreover determine the dimension of such components, proving also that they are generically smooth. As a direct consequence of these facts, we also compute the Ulrich complexity of any such $X_e$ and give an effective proof of the fact that these $X_e$'s turn out to be geometrically Ulrich wild. At last, the machinery developed for $3$--fold scrolls $X_e$ allows us to deduce Ulrichness results on rank $r \geqslant 1$ vector bundles on $\mathbb{F}_e$, for any $e \geqslant 0$, with respect to a naturally associated (very ample) polarization.

Abstract:In this article, we prove that any smooth projective variety $X$ which is a double cover of the projective space $\mathbb{P}^n$ ($n\geq 2$) admits an Ulrich bundle. When $n=2$, we show that on any such $X$, there is an Ulrich bundle of rank two.

Abstract:Let $Q\to M$ be a principal $G$-bundle, and $B_0$ a connection on $Q$. We introduce an infinitesimal homogeneity condition for sections in an associated vector bundle $Q\times_GV$ with respect to $B_0$, and, inspired by the well known Ambrose-Singer theorem, we prove the existence of a connection which satisfies a system of parallelism conditions. We explain how this general theorem can be used to prove the known Ambrose-Singer type theorems by an appropriate choice of the initial system of <a class="link-external link-http" href="http://data.We" rel="external noopener nofollow">this http URL</a> also obtain new applications, which cannot be obtained using the known formalisms, e.g. a classification theorem for locally homogeneous spinors. Finally we introduce natural local homogeneity and local symmetry conditions for triples $(g,P\stackrel{p}{\to} M,A)$ consisting of a Riemannian metric on $M$, a principal bundle on $M$, and a connection on $P$. Our main results concern locally homogeneous and locally symmetric triples, and they can be viewed as bundle versions of the Ambrose-Singer and Cartan theorem.

Abstract:We show that Veronese varieties of dimension $n \ge 4$ do not carry any Ulrich bundles of rank $r \le 3$. In order to prove this, we prove that a Veronese embedding of a complete intersection of dimension $m \ge 4$, which if $m=4$ is either $\mathbb P^4$ or has degree $d \ge 2$ and is very general and not of type $(2), (2,2)$, does not carry any Ulrich bundles of rank $r \le 3$.

Abstract:We use classical results in smoothing theory to extract information about the rational homotopy groups of the space of Riemannian metrics without conjugate points on a high-dimensional manifold with hyperbolic fundamental group. As a consequence, we show that spaces of negatively curved Riemannian metrics have in general nontrivial rational homotopy groups. We also show that smooth M-bundles over spheres equipped with fiberwise negatively curved metrics represent elements of finite order in the homotopy groups pi iBDiff(M) of the classifying space for smooth M-bundles, provided iMUCH LESS-THANdimM.

Abstract:We study vector bundles on flag varieties over an algebraically closed field k. In the first part, we suppose G=Gk(d,n)$G=G_k(d,n)$ (2 <= d <= n-d)$(2\le d\le n-d)$ to be the Grassmannian parameterizing linear subspaces of dimension d in kn$k<^>n$, where k is an algebraically closed field of characteristic p>0$p>0$. Let E be a uniform vector bundle over G of rank r <= d$r\le d$. We show that E is either a direct sum of line bundles or a twist of the pullback of the universal subbundle Hd$H_d$ or its dual Hd proves$H_d<^>{\vee }$ by a series of absolute Frobenius maps. In the second part, splitting properties of vector bundles on general flag varieties F(d1, horizontal ellipsis ,ds)$F(d_1,\ldots ,d_s)$ in characteristic zero are considered. We prove a structure theorem for bundles over flag varieties which are uniform with respect to the ith component of the manifold of lines in F(d1, horizontal ellipsis ,ds)$F(d_1,\ldots ,d_s)$. Furthermore, we generalize the Grauert-Mu''$\ddot{\text{u}}$lich-Barth theorem to flag varieties. As a corollary, we show that any strongly uniform i-semistable (1 <= i <= n-1)$(1\le i\le n-1)$ bundle over the complete flag variety splits as a direct sum of special line bundles.

Abstract:We prove that on a general hypersurface in $\mathbb{P}^N$ of degree $d$ and dimension at least $2$, if an arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay (ACM) bundle $E$ and its dual have small regularity, then any non-trivial Hodge class in $H^{n}(X, E\otimes\Omega^n_X)$, $n = \lfloor\frac{N-1}{2}\rfloor$, produces a trivial direct summand of $E$. As a consequence, we prove that there is no universal Ulrich bundle on the family of smooth hypersurfaces of degree $d\geq 3$ and dimension at least $4$. This last statement may be viewed as a Franchetta-type conjecture for Ulrich bundles on smooth hypersurfaces.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a simple algebraic group of adjoint type over $\mathbb C$, and let $M$ be the wonderful compactification of a symmetric space $G/H$. Take a $\widetilde G$--equivariant principal $R$--bundle $E$ on $M$, where $R$ is a complex reductive algebraic group and $\widetilde G$ is the universal cover of $G$. If the action of the isotropy group $\widetilde H$ on the fiber of $E$ at the identity coset is irreducible, then we prove that $E$ is polystable with respect to any polarization on $M$. Further, for wonderful compactification of the quotient of $\text{PSL}(n,{\mathbb C})$, $n\,\neq\, 4$ (respectively, $\text{PSL}(2n,{\mathbb C})$, $n \geq 2$) by the normalizer of the projective orthogonal group (respectively, the projective symplectic group), we prove that the tangent bundle is stable with respect to any polarization on the wonderful compactification.

Abstract:We construct explicit dominant, rational morphisms from projective bundles over rational varieties to relevant moduli spaces, showing their unirationality. These constructions work for $U_{r,d,g}$; for all ranks, degrees and genus $2\leq g \leq 9$. Furthermore, the arguments presented also show that a similar conclusion can be made for $U_{r, \mathcal{L}, g}$ for all $r,d$ and unirational $M_g$
