Abstract:Let $K$ be a field of characteristic zero, let $A_1=K[x][\partial ]$ be the first Weyl algebra. In this paper we prove that the Dixmier conjecture for the first Weyl algebra is true, i.e. each algebra endomorphism of the algebra $A_1$ is an automorphism.

Abstract:Let p and q, where pq-qp=1 be the standard generators of the first Weyl algebra A(1) over a field of characteristic zero. Then the spectrum of the inner derivation ad(pq) on A(1) are exactly the set of integers. The algebra A(1) is a Z-graded algebra with each i-component being the i-eigenspace of ad(pq), where i is an element of Z is an element of. Assume that z and w are elements of A(1) satisfying zw-wz=1. The Dixmier Conjecture for A(1) says that they always generate A(1). We show that if z possesses no component belonging to the negative spectrum of ad(pq), then z and w generate A(1). We give some generalization of this result, and some other useful criterions for z and w to generate A(1). It is shown that if z is a sum of not more than 2 homogeneous elements of A(1) then z and w generate A(1), which generalizes a known result due to Bavula and Levandovskyy.

Abstract:A result of A. Joseph says that any nilpotent or semisimple element $z$ in the Weyl algebra $A_1$ over some algebracally closed field $K$ of characterstic 0 has a normal form up to the action of the automorphism group of $A_1$. It is shown in this note that the normal form corresponds to some unique pair of integers $(k,n)$ with $k\ge n\ge 0$, and will be called the Joseph norm form of $z$. Similar results for the symplectic Poisson algebra $S_1$ are obtained. The Dixmier conjecture can be reformulated as follows: For any nilpotent element $z\in A_1$ whose Joseph norm corresponds to $(k,n)$ with $k>n\ge 1$, there exists no $w\in A_1$ with $ [z,w]=1$. It is known to hold true if $k$ and $n$ are coprime. In this note we show that the assertion also holds if $k$ or $n$ is prime. Analogous results for the Jacobian conjecture for $K[X,Y]$ are obtained.

Abstract:Let $A$ be the $n$-th Weyl algebra over a field of characteristic zero, and $\varphi:A\rightarrow A$ an endomorphism with $S = \varphi(A)$. We prove that if $A$ is finitely generated as a left or right $S$-module, then $S = A$. The proof involves reduction to large positive characteristics. By holonomicity, $A$ is always finitely generated as an $S$-bimodule. Moreover, if this bimodule property could be transferred into a similar property in large positive characteristics, then we could again conclude that $A=S$. The latter would imply the Dixmier Conjecture.

Abstract:It is established that the relationships between Weyl's theorem, Browder's theorem, generalized Weyl's theorem and generalized Browder's theorem in a semiprime Banach algebra . We prove that if the commutant of contains a left or right injective quasinilpotent element, then f ( a ) satisfies Weyl's theorem for f belongs to , the set of analytic functions on a neighborhood of . It is shown that the accumulation points of the spectrum of an element in are invariant under any commuting perturbation f such that for some . This result provides a positive answer to Question 2.8 in (Linear Multilinear Algebra 64(2):247–257, 2016), and it is then applied to investigate the perturbations of Weyl's theorem and generalized Weyl's theorem. It is also shown that if a is a hyponormal element (that is, ) in a algebra and , then f ( a ) satisfies Weyl's theorem. If additionally is primitive then f ( a ) obeys generalized Weyl's theorem. We also consider some other interesting properties of hyponormal elements in C* algebras, including simply polaroidness, topological divisor of zero, self-adjointness of the spectral projection with respect to , and the spectral mapping theorem of the Weyl spectrum.

Abstract:We define a degenerate affine version of the walled Brauer algebra, that has the same role plaid by the degenerate affine Hecke algebra for the symmetric group algebra. We use it to prove a higher level mixed Schur-Weyl duality for gl_N. We consider then families of cyclotomic quotients of level two which appear naturally in Lie theory and we prove that they inherit from there a natural grading and a graded cellular structure.

Abstract:Deligne has formulated extremely influential conjectures about certain special values of the $L$-functions of (Grothendieck) motives over a number field $F$. Given the conjectural dictionary between motives and 'algebraic' automorphic representations of $\textrm{GL}(N, {\mathbb A}_F)$, where ${\mathbb A}_F$ denotes the adèles of $F$, they translate into conjectures concerning the $L$-functions of these automorphic representations. These complex representations, when they are 'regular', can be conjugated by the automorphisms of the complex field ${\mathbb C}$. It then follows, as a weak consequence of Deligne's conjectures, that the vanishing at critical points (integers of half-integers) of the automorphic $L$-functions should be invariant by automorphisms of ${\mathbb C}$. If $F$ is totally imaginary, this has been proven by Moeglin, for standard or Rankin $L$-functions. Here we extend the result to Rankin $L$-fuctions for totally real fields $F$, under a parity and a regularity assumption. The proof relies on Eisenstein cohomology and the Zucker conjecture (a theorem of Looijenga and Saper-Stern.)

Abstract:Assume that $P$ and $Q$ are elements of $A_1$ satisfying $[P,Q] = 1$. The Dixmier Conjecture for $A_1$ says that they always generate $A_1$. We show that if $P$ is a sum of not more than~$4$ homogeneous elements of $A_1$ then $P$ and $Q$ generate $A_1$, which generalizes the main result in arXiv:2210.00257.

Abstract:In this paper we prove a conjecture of Kudla and Rallis. Let $\chi$ be a unitary character, $s\in \mathbb{C}$ and $W$ a symplectic vector space over a non-archimedean field with symmetry group $G(W)$. Denote by $I(\chi,s)$ the degenerate principal series representation of $G(W\oplus W)$. Pulling back $I(\chi,s)$ along the natural embedding $G(W)\times G(W)\hookrightarrow G(W\oplus W)$ gives a representation $I_{W,W}(\chi,s)$ of $G(W)\times G(W)$. Let $\pi$ be an irreducible smooth complex representation of $G(W)$. We then prove \[\dim _\mathbb{C}\mathrm{Hom}_{G(W)\times G(W)}(I_{W,W}(\chi,s),\pi\otimes \pi^\lor)=1.\] We also give analogous statements for $W$ orthogonal or unitary. This gives in particular a new proof of the conservation relation of the local Theta correspondence for symplectic-orthogonal and unitary dual pairs.

Abstract:We prove Turner's conjecture, which describes the blocks of the Hecke algebras of the symmetric groups up to derived equivalence as certain explicit Turner double algebras. Turner doubles are Schur-algebra-like `local' objects, which replace wreath products of Brauer tree algebras in the context of the Broué abelian defect group conjecture for blocks of symmetric groups with non-abelian defect groups. The main tools used in the proof are generalized Schur algebras corresponding to wreath products of zigzag algebras and imaginary semicuspidal quotients of affine KLR algebras.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a split reductive group over a finite field $k$. In this note we study the space $V$ of finitely supported functions on the set of isomorphism classes $G$-bundles on the projective line ${\mathbb P}^1$ endowed with a trivialization at $0$ and $\infty$. We show that $V$ is naturally isomorphic to the regular bimodule over the Hecke algebra $A$ of the group $G(k((t)))$ with respect to the first congruence subgroup. As a byproduct we show that Hecke operators at points different from $0$ and $\infty$ to generate the "stable center" of $A$. We provide an expression of the character of the lifting of an irreducible cuspidal representation of $GL(N,k)$ to $GL(N,k')$ where $k'$ is a finite extension of $k$ in terms of these generators. In a subsequent publication we plan to develop analogous constructions in the case when $k$ is replaced by a local non-archimedian field.

Abstract:We construct the dagger realization functor for analytic motives over non-archimedean fields of mixed characteristic, as well as the Monsky-Washnitzer realization functor for algebraic motives over a discrete field of positive characteristic. In particular, the motivic language on the classic étale site provides a new direct definition of the overconvergent de Rham cohomology and rigid cohomology and shows that their finite dimensionality follows formally from the one of Betti cohomology for smooth projective complex varieties.

Monomial identities in the Weyl algebra

Abstract:Motivated by a question and some enumerative conjectures of Richard Stanley, we explore the equivalence classes of words in the Weyl algebra, $\mathbf{k} \left< D,U \mid DU - UD = 1 \right>$. We show that each class is generated by the swapping of adjacent *balanced subwords*, i.e., those which have the same number of $D$'s as $U$'s, and give several other characterizations. Armed with this we deduce a number of enumerative results about the number of such equivalence classes and their sizes. We extend these results to the class of $c$-Dyck words, where every prefix has at least $c$ times as many $U$'s as $D$'s. We also connect these results to previous work on bond percolation and rook theory, and generalize them to some other algebras.

On the Birch-Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture for modular abelian surfaces

Abstract:Let $A$ be a modular abelian surface over $Q$ which either has trivial geometric endomorphism ring, or arises as the restriction of scalars of an elliptic curve over an imaginary quadratic field which is modular and is not a $Q$-curve. In the former case, assume that there exists an odd Dirichlet character $\chi$ such that $L(A,\chi,1)\neq 0$. We prove the following implication: if $L(A, 1) \ne 0$, and the $p$-adic eigenvariety for $GSp_4$ is smooth at the point corresponding to $A$ (and some auxiliary technical hypotheses hold), then $A(Q)$ is finite, as predicted by the Birch--Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture, and the $p$-part of the Tate--Shafarevich group is also finite. We also prove one inclusion of the cyclotomic Iwasawa Main Conjecture for $A$. Moreover, we also prove analogous results for cohomological automorphic representations of $GSp_4$, removing many of the restrictive hypotheses in our earlier work [<a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2003.05960" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2003.05960">2003.05960</a>]; for cohomological representations we do not need to assume smoothness of the eigenvariety, since it is automatic in this case. The main ingredient in the proof is the Euler system attached to the spin representations of genus $2$ Siegel modular forms constructed in our earlier work with Skinner.

Abstract:In the present paper, we prove, for a large class of elliptic curves defined over $\mathbb{Q}$, the existence of an explicit infinite family of quadratic twists with analytic rank $0$. In addition, we establish the $2$-part of the conjecture of Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer for many of these infinite families of quadratic twists. Recently, Xin Wan has used our results to prove for the first time the full Birch--Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture for some explicit infinite families of elliptic curves defined over $\mathbb{Q}$ without complex multiplication.

Abstract:Let $\Bbbk$ be a field of characteristic zero and let $\mathbb{W}_n = \operatorname{Der}(\Bbbk[x_1,\cdots,x_n])$ be the $n^{\text{th}}$ general Cartan type Lie algebra. In this paper, we study Lie subalgebras $L$ of $\mathbb{W}_n$ of maximal Gelfand--Kirillov (GK) dimension, that is, with $\operatorname{GKdim}(L) = n$. For $n = 1$, we completely classify such $L$, proving a conjecture of the second author. As a corollary, we obtain a new proof that $\mathbb{W}_1$ satisfies the Dixmier conjecture, in other words, $\operatorname{End}(\mathbb{W}_1) \setminus \{0\} = \operatorname{Aut}(\mathbb{W}_1)$, a result first shown by Du. For arbitrary $n$, we show that if $L$ is a GK-dimension $n$ subalgebra of $\mathbb{W}_n$, then $U(L)$ is not (left or right) noetherian.
