Abstract:In this paper we prove that for circulants of squarefree orders Wilson's conjecture hold, that is each nontrivially unstable circulant of such order has Wilson type. We show that actually only criteria (C.1) and (C.4) are needed.

Abstract:A graph $\Gamma$ is said to be unstable if for the direct product $\Gamma \times K_2$, $Aut(\Gamma \times K_2)$ is not isomorphic to $Aut(\Gamma) \times \mathbb{Z}_2$. In this paper we show that a connected and non-bipartite Cayley graph $Cay(H,S)$ is unstable if and only if the set $S \times \{1\}$ belongs to a Schur ring over the group $H \times \mathbb{Z}_2$ having certain properties. The Schur rings with these properties are characterized if $H$ is an abelian group of odd order or a cyclic group of twice odd order. As an application, a short proof is given for the result of Witte Morris stating that every connected unstable Cayley graph on an abelian group of odd order has twins (Electron.~J.~Combin, 2021). As another application, sufficient and necessary conditions are given for a connected and non-bipartite circulant graph of order $2p^e$ to be unstable, where $p$ is an odd prime and $e \ge 1$.

Abstract:The canonical double cover $B(X)$ of a graph $X$ is the direct product of $X$ and $K_2$. If $Aut(B(X)) \cong Aut(X) \times \mathbb{Z}_2$ then $X$ is called stable; otherwise $X$ is called unstable. An unstable graph is nontrivially unstable if it is connected, non-bipartite and distinct vertices have different neighborhoods. Circulant is a Cayley graph on a cyclic group. Qin et al. conjectured in [J. Combin. Theory Ser. B 136 (2019), 154-169] that there are no nontrivialy unstable circulants of odd order. In this paper we prove this conjecture.

Abstract:Dumortier and Roussarie proposed a conjecture in their paper (2009, Discrete Con. Dyn. Sys., 2,723-781): For any \begin{document}$ q\in {\mathbb{N}} $\end{document} , the Abelian integrals \begin{document}$ J_{2j+1}(h) = \int_{\gamma_h}x^{2j-1}\,\mathrm dy $\end{document} , \begin{document}$ j = 0, 1, 2, \cdots, q $\end{document} , form a strict Chebyshev system on intervals \begin{document}$ h\in (0, \frac{1}{2}] $\end{document} , where \begin{document}$ \gamma_h = \{(x, y)| \mathrm e^{-2y}(y+\frac{1}{2}-x^2) = h\} $\end{document} . If this conjecture holds, then they obtain the precise upper bound of the number of limit cycles that appear near a slow-fast Hopf point of any codimension. In the present paper we develop a method to estimate the number of zeros of Abelian integrals and prove this conjecture.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider a class of cubic systems with polynomial perturbation of the degree at most \begin{document}$ n $\end{document}, and estimate the upper bound of the number of isolated zeros of its Abelian integral. Furthermore, we obtain the distributions of limit cycles bifurcated from a \begin{document}$ Z_4 $\end{document}-equivariant system with \begin{document}$ 5 $\end{document} centers.

Abstract:It is conjectured that all separable polynomials with integers coefficients, satisfying some local conditions, take infinitely many square free values on integer arguments. But not a single polynomial of degree greater than $3$ is proven to exhibit this property. In this article, we propose a method to show that ``cyclotomic polynomials $\Phi_{\ell}(X)$ take square free values with positive proportion". Following this method, conditionally, we do prove the Square-free conjecture for all cyclotomic polynomials. The method is applicable to some other class of polynomials as well. Moreover we show that the method readily succeeds for quadratic polynomials to give unconditional result. In the appendix, we give an elementary proof of the square-free conjecture for cyclotomic polynomials under abc conjecture.

Abstract:For all $k \ge 2$, we show that there exists a group $G$ and a non-free stably free $\mathbb{Z} G$-module of rank $k$. We use this to show that, for all $k \ge 2$, there exist homotopically distinct finite $2$-complexes with fundamental group $G$ and with Euler characteristic exceeding the minimal value over $G$ by $k$. This resolves Problem D5 in the 1979 Problem List of C. T. C. Wall. We also explore a number of generalisations and present a potential application to the topology of closed smooth 4-manifolds.

Algebraic criteria for stable diffeomorphism of spin 4-manifolds

Abstract:We study closed, connected, spin 4-manifolds up to stabilisation by connected sums with copies of $S^2 \times S^2$. For a fixed fundamental group, there are primary, secondary and tertiary obstructions, which together with the signature lead to a complete stable classification. The primary obstruction exactly detects $\mathbb{CP}^2$-stable diffeomorphism and was previously related to algebraic invariants by Kreck and the authors. In this article we formulate conjectural relationships of the secondary and tertiary obstructions with algebraic invariants: the secondary obstruction should be determined by the (stable) equivariant intersection form and the tertiary obstruction via a $\tau$-invariant recording intersection data between 2-spheres, with trivial algebraic self-intersection, and their Whitney discs. We prove our conjectures for the following classes of fundamental groups: groups of cohomological dimension at most 3, right-angled Artin groups, abelian groups, and finite groups with quaternion or abelian 2-Sylow subgroups. We apply our theory to give a complete algebraic stable classification of spin $4$-manifolds with fundamental group $\mathbb{Z} \times \mathbb{Z}/2$.

Abstract:We prove that for any circulant matrix $C$ of size $n\times n$ with the monic characteristic polynomial $p(z)$, the spectrum of its $(n-1)\times(n-1)$ submatrix $C_{n-1}$ constructed with first $n-1$ rows and columns of $C$ consists of all critical points of $p(z)$. Using this fact we provide a simple proof for the Schoenberg conjecture recently proved by R. Pereira and S. Malamud. We also prove full generalization of a higher order Schoenberg-type conjecture proposed by M. de Bruin and A. Sharma and recently proved by W.S. Cheung and T.W. Ng. in its original form, i.e. for polynomials whose mass centre of roots equals zero. In this particular case, our inequality is stronger than it was conjectured by de Bruin and Sharma. Some Schmeisser's-like results on majorization of critical point of polynomials are also obtained.
Isolated circular orders on free products of cyclic groups

Abstract:In this paper, we construct countably many isolated circular orders on the free products $G = F_{2n} \ast \mathbb{Z}_{m_1} \ast \cdots \ast \mathbb{Z}_{m_k}$ of cyclic groups. Moreover, we prove that these isolated circular orders are not the automorphic images of the others. By using these isolated circular orders, we also construct countably many isolated left orders on a certain central $\mathbb{Z}$-extension of $G$, which are not the automorphic images of the others.

Abstract:Associated to a symmetrisable Cartan matrix $C$, Geiss-Lerclerc-Schr\"{o}er constructed and studied a class of Iwanaga-Gorenstein algebras $H$. They proved a generalised version of Gabriel's Theorem, that is, the rank vectors of $\tau$-locally free $H$-modules are the positive roots of type $C$ when $C$ is of finite type, and conjectured that this is true for any $C$. In this paper, we look into this conjecture when $C$ is of affine type. We construct explicitly stable tubes, some of which have rigid mouth modules, while others not. We deduce that any positive root of type $C$ is the rank vector of some $\tau$-locally free $H$-module. However, the converse is not true in general. Our construction shows that there are $\tau$-locally free $H$-modules whose rank vectors are not roots, when $C$ is of type $\widetilde{\mathbb{B}}_n$, $\widetilde{\mathbb{CD}}_n$, $\widetilde{\mathbb{F}}_{41}$ and $\widetilde{\mathbb{G}}_{21}$, and so the conjecture fails in these four types.

Abstract:A conjecture of Voisin states that two points on a smooth projective complex variety whose algebra of holomorphic forms is generated in degree 2 are rationally equivalent to each other if and only if their difference lies in the third step of the Bloch-Beilinson filtration. In this note, we formulate a generalization that allows for rational equivalence of effective zero-cycles of higher degree, at the expense of looking deeper in the Bloch-Beilinson filtration. In the first half, we provide evidence in support of this conjecture in the case of abelian varieties and projective hyper-Kähler manifolds. Notably, we give explicit criteria for rational equivalence of effective zero-cycles on moduli spaces of semistable sheaves on K3 surfaces, generalizing that of Marian-Zhao. In the second half, in an effort to explain our main conjecture, we formulate a second conjecture predicting when the diagonal of a smooth projective variety belongs to a subalgebra of the ring of correspondences generated in low degree.

Abstract:Circulant graphs have been applied to Ramsey type problem,parallel computing and networks.A basic problem in research of circulant graphs is counting nonisomorphic circulant graphs.Given positive integers n and k,let C(n,k) denote the number of connected and pairwise nonisomorphic circulant graphs having n vertices and valency k.In this paper first we obtain C(n,5) by using the parameters C(n,4) and C(n/2,4).Then we investigate structure of circulant graphs with valency 4 for computing C(n,4).Finally,as an application of the previous results,we calculate C(n,4),for n = pa qb with p,q primes and a,b ≥ 0.

Abstract:We address the general problem of studying linear stability and bifurcations of periodic orbits for Hamiltonian systems of arbitrary degrees of freedom. We study the topology of the GIT sequence introduced by the first author and Urs Frauenfelder in [7], in arbitrary dimension. In particular, we note that the combinatorics encoding the linear stability of periodic orbits is governed by a quotient of the associahedron. Our approach gives a topological/combinatorial proof of the classical Krein–Moser theorem, and refines it for the case of symmetric orbits.

Abstract:A conjecture of Mallows and Sloane conveys the dominance of Hilbert series for finding basic invariants of finite linear groups if the Hilbert series of the invariant ring is of a certain explicit canonical form. However, the conjecture does not hold in general by a well-known counterexample of Stanley. In this article, we give a constraint on lower bounds for the degrees of homogeneous system of parameters of rings of invariants of finite linear groups depending on the universal denominator of Hilbert series defined by Derksen. We consider the conjecture with the universal denominator on abelian groups and provide some criteria guaranteeing the existence of homogeneous system of parameters of certain degrees. In this case, Stanley's counterexample could be avoided, and the homogeneous system of parameters is optimal.

Abstract:In this paper, we provide a complete classification of the positive minimal monads whose cohomology is a stable rank 2 bundle on $\mathbb{P}^3$ with Chern classes $c_1=-1, c_2=10$ and we prove the existence of a new irreducible component of the moduli space $\mathcal{B}(-1,10)$ of a rank 2 stable bundles with the given Chern classes. We also show that Hartshorne's conditions on a sequence $\mathcal{X}$ of 10 integers are sufficient and necessary for the existence of a stable rank 2 bundle with odd determinant and spectrum $\mathcal{X}$. Furthermore, we prove that the sequence of integers $\{-2^{n-1},-1,0,1^{n-1}\}$ for $ n\geq4$ is realized as the spectrum of a stable rank 2 bundle $\EE$ of odd determinant by computing the minimal generators of its Rao module.

Abstract:A graph $\Gamma$ is said to be stable if for the direct product $\Gamma\times\mathbf{K}_2$, ${\rm Aut}(\Gamma \times \mathbf{K}_2)$ is isomorphic to ${\rm Aut}(\Gamma) \times \mathbb{Z}_2$; otherwise, it is called unstable. An unstable graph is called non-trivially unstable when it is not bipartite and no two vertices have the same neighborhood. Wilson described nine families of unstable Rose Window graphs and conjectured that these contain all non-trivially unstable Rose Window graphs (2008). In this paper we show that the conjecture is true.
