Abstract:Using tools from quantum harmonic analysis, we show that the domain of the Laplacian of an operator is dense in the Toeplitz algebra over the Fock space $\mathcal{F}^2(\mathbb{C}^n)$. As an application, we provide a simplified treatment of the Gelfand theory of the radial Toeplitz algebra.

Abstract:The Fock space $\mathcal{F}(\mathbb{C}^n)$ is the space of holomorphic functions on $\mathbb{C}^n$ that are square-integrable with respect to the Gaussian measure on $\mathbb{C}^n$. This space plays an important role in several subfields of analysis and representation theory. In particular, it has for a long time been a model to study Toeplitz operators. Esmeral and Maximenko showed in 2016 that radial Toeplitz operators on $\mathcal{F}(\mathbb{C})$ generate a commutative $C^*$-algebra which is isometrically isomorphic to the $C^*$-algebra $C_{b,u}(\mathbb{N}_0,\rho_1)$. In this article, we extend the result to $k$-quasi-radial symbols acting on the Fock space $\mathcal{F}(\mathbb{C}^n)$. We calculate the spectra of the said Toeplitz operators and show that the set of all eigenvalue functions is dense in the $C^*$-algebra $C_{b,u}(\mathbb{N}_0^k,\rho_k)$ of bounded functions on $\mathbb{N}_0^k$ which are uniformly continuous with respect to the square-root metric. In fact, the $C^*$-algebra generated by Toeplitz operators with quasi-radial symbols is $C_{b,u}(\mathbb{N}_0^k,\rho_k)$.

Abstract:We consider various classes of bounded operators on the Fock space $F^2$ of Gaussian square integrable entire functions over the complex plane. These include Toeplitz (type) operators, weighted composition operators, singular integral operators, Volterra-type operators and Hausdorff operators and range from classical objects in harmonic analysis to more recently introduced classes. As a leading problem and closely linked to well-known compactness characterizations we pursue the question of when these operators are contained in the Toeplitz algebra. This paper combines a (certainly in-complete) survey of the classical and more recent literature including new ideas for proofs from the perspective of quantum harmonic analysis (QHA). Moreover, we have added a number of new theorems and links between known results.

Abstract:This paper considers bounded linear radial operators on the polyanalytic Fock spaces ℱn$$\mathcal {F}_n$$ and on the true-polyanalytic Fock spaces ℱ(n)$$\mathcal {F}_{(n)}$$. The orthonormal basis of normalized complex Hermite polynomials plays a crucial role in this study; it can be obtained by the orthogonalization of monomials in z and z¯$$\overline {z}$$. First, using this basis, we decompose the von Neumann algebra of radial operators, acting in ℱn$$\mathcal {F}_n$$, into the direct sum of some matrix algebras, i.e. radial operators are represented as matrix sequences. Secondly, we prove that the radial operators, acting in ℱ(n)$$\mathcal {F}_{(n)}$$, are diagonal with respect to the basis of the complex Hermite polynomials belonging to ℱ(n)$$\mathcal {F}_{(n)}$$. We also provide direct proofs of the fundamental properties of ℱn$$\mathcal {F}_n$$ and an explicit description of the C*-algebra generated by Toeplitz operators in ℱ(n)$$\mathcal {F}_{(n)}$$, whose generating symbols are radial, bounded, and have finite limits at infinity.

Abstract:We use results and techniques from Werner's ``quantum harmonic analysis'' to show that $G$-invariant Toeplitz operators are norm dense in $G$-invariant Toeplitz algebras for all subgroups $G$ of the affine unitary group $U_n\ltimes \mathbb{C}^n$. Additionally, we prove that the quasi-radial Toeplitz operators are dense in the quasi-radial Toeplitz algebra over the Bergman space $\mathcal{A}^2(\mathbb{B}^n)$ and provide a constructive proof of SOT density of Toeplitz operators in the space of all bounded operators.

Differential Operators on Non-compact Harmonic Manifolds

Abstract:We study the algebra of differential operators on non-compact simply connected harmonic manifolds and provide sufficient conditions for them to have a radial fundamental solution and be surjective on the space of smooth function. Furthermore, we show that the algebra of differential operators that commute with taking averages over geodesic spheres is generated by the Laplacian. As an application of this, we show that the heat-semi group is dense in the radial $L^1$ space of a non-compact simply connected harmonic manifold. In the process, we provide a characterisation of the eigenfunctions of the Laplacian and therefore of the eigenfunctions of all differential operators commuting with taking spherical averages.

Abstract:The Laplace-Beltrami operator on (the surface of) a triaxial ellipsoid admits a sequence of real eigenvalues diverging to plus infinity. By introducing ellipsoidal coordinates, this eigenvalue problem for a partial differential operator is reduced to a two-parameter regular Sturm-Liouville problem involving ordinary differential operators. This two-parameter eigenvalue problem has two families of eigencurves whose intersection points determine the eigenvalues of the Laplace-Beltrami operator. Eigenvalues are approximated numerically through eigenvalues of generalized matrix eigenvalue problems. Ellipsoids close to spheres are studied employing Lamé polynomials.

Abstract:In a previous paper (Radial operators on polyanalytic weighted Bergman spaces, Bol. Soc. Mat. Mex. 27, 43), using disk polynomials as an orthonormal basis in the $n$-analytic weighted Bergman space, we showed that for every bounded radial generating symbol $a$, the associated Toeplitz operator, acting in this space, can be identified with a matrix sequence $\gamma(a)$, where the entries of the matrices are certain integrals involving $a$ and Jacobi polynomials. In this paper, we suppose that the generating symbols $a$ have finite limits on the boundary and prove that the C*-algebra generated by the corresponding matrix sequences $\gamma(a)$ is the C*-algebra of all matrix sequences having scalar limits at infinity. We use Kaplansky's noncommutative analog of the Stone--Weierstrass theorem and some ideas from several papers by Loaiza, Lozano, Ramírez-Ortega, Ramírez-Mora, and Sánchez-Nungaray. We also prove that for $n\ge 2$, the closure of the set of matrix sequences $\gamma(a)$ is not equal to the generated C*-algebra.

The logarithmic Dirichlet Laplacian on Ahlfors regular spaces

Abstract:We introduce the logarithmic analogue of the Laplace-Beltrami operator on Ahlfors regular metric-measure spaces. This operator is intrinsically defined with spectral properties analogous to those of elliptic pseudo-differential operators on Riemannian manifolds. Specifically, its heat semigroup consists of compact operators which are trace-class after some critical point in time. Moreover, its domain is a Banach module over the Dini continuous functions and every Hölder continuous function is a smooth vector. Finally, the operator is compatible, in the sense of noncommutative geometry, with the action of a large class of non-isometric homeomorphisms.

Abstract:We prove several results concerning the theory of Toeplitz algebras over $p$-Fock spaces using a correspondence theory of translation invariant symbol and operator spaces. The most notable results are: The full Toeplitz algebra is the norm closure of all Toeplitz operators with bounded uniformly continuous symbols. This generalizes a result obtained by J. Xia (J. Funct. Anal. 269:781-814, 2015) in the case $p = 2$, which was proven by different methods. Further, we prove that every Toeplitz algebra which has a translation invariant $C^\ast$ subalgebra of the bounded uniformly continuous functions as its set of symbols is linearly generated by Toeplitz operators with the same space of symbols.

Abstract:We prove that an aggregate Toeplitz operator on the Fréchet space of all entire functions is a Fredholm operator if and only if its symbol does not vanish. The result is motivated by and closely resembles the classical result of Gohberg and Douglas from the Hardy space theory of Toeplitz operators. There are however some subtle differences which we also discuss.

Abstract:We develop a new semiclassical calculus in analytic regularity, and apply these techniques to the study of Berezin–Toeplitz quantization in real-analytic regularity. We provide asymptotic formulas for the Bergman projector and Berezin–Toeplitz operators on a compact Kähler manifold. These objects depend on an integer N and we study, in the limit $N\rightarrow +\infty $, situations in which one can control them up to an error $O(e^{-cN})$ for some $c>0$. We develop a calculus of Toeplitz operators with real-analytic symbols, which applies to Kähler manifolds with real-analytic metrics. In particular, we prove that the Bergman kernel is controlled up to $O(e^{-cN})$ on any real-analytic Kähler manifold as $N\rightarrow +\infty $. We also prove that Toeplitz operators with analytic symbols can be composed and inverted up to $O(e^{-cN})$. As an application, we study eigenfunction concentration for Toeplitz operators if both the manifold and the symbol are real-analytic. In this case we prove exponential decay in the classically forbidden region.

Abstract:Usually, the norm closure of a family of operators is not equal to the $C^*$-algebra generated by this family of operators. But, similar with the Bergman space $L^2_a(\textbf{B}, dv)$ of the unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^n$, we show that the norm closure of $\{T_f : f\in L^{\infty}(\mathbb{D}, dv)\}$ on Bergman space $L^2_a(\mathbb{D}, dv)$ of the ploydisk $\mathbb{D}$ in $\mathbb{C}^n$ actually coincides with the Toeplitz algebra $\mathcal{T}(\mathbb{D})$. A key ingredient in the proof is the class of operators $\mathcal{D}$ recently introduced by Yi Wang and Jingbo Xia. In fact, as a by-product, we simultaneously proved that $\mathcal{T}(\mathbb{D})$ also coincides with $\mathcal{D}$. Based on these results, we further proved that the essential commutant of Toeplitz algebra $\mathcal{T}(\mathbb{D})$ equals to $\{T_g: g\in VO_{bdd}\} + \mathcal{K}$ where $VO_{bdd}$ is the collection of functions of vanishing oscillation on polydisk $\mathbb{D}$ and $\mathcal{K}$ denotes the collection of compact operators on $L^2_a(\mathbb{D}, dv)$. On the other hand, we also prove that the essential commutant of $\{T_g: g\in VO_{bdd}\}$ is $\mathcal{T}(\mathbb{D})$, which implies that image of $\mathcal{T}(\mathbb{D})$ in the Calkin algebra satisfies the double commutant relation: $\pi(\mathcal{T}(\mathbb{D}))=\pi(\mathcal{T}(\mathbb{D}))''$.

Abstract:Let $G$ be a finite pseudoreflection group and $\Omega\subseteq \mathbb C^d$ be a bounded domain which is a $G$-space. We establish identities involving Toeplitz operators on the weighted Bergman spaces of $\Omega$ and $\Omega/G$ using invariant theory and representation theory of $G.$ This, in turn, provides techniques to study algebraic properties of Toeplitz operators on the weighted Bergman space on $\Omega/G.$ We specialize on the generalized zero-product problem and characterization of commuting pairs of Toeplitz operators. As a consequence, more intricate results on Toeplitz operators on the weighted Bergman spaces on some specific quotient domains (namely symmetrized polydisc, monomial polyhedron, Rudin's domain) have been obtained.

Abstract:We study the differential operator $A=\frac{d^4}{dx^4}$ acting on a connected network $\mathcal{G}$ along with $\mathcal L^2$, the square of the discrete Laplacian acting on a connected discrete graph $\mathsf{G}$. For both operators we discuss well-posedness of the associated {linear} parabolic problems \[ \frac{\partial u}{\partial t}=-Au,\qquad\frac{df}{dt}=-\mathcal L^2 f, \] on $L^p(\mathcal{G})$ or $\ell^p(\mathsf{V})$, respectively, for $1\leq p\leq\infty$. In view of the well-known lack of parabolic maximum principle for all elliptic differential operators of order $2N$ for $N>1$, our most surprising finding is that, after some transient time, the parabolic equations driven by $-A$ may display Markovian features, depending on the imposed transmission conditions in the vertices. Analogous results seem to be unknown in the case of general domains and even bounded intervals. Our analysis is based on a detailed study of bi-harmonic functions complemented by simple combinatorial arguments. We elaborate on analogous issues for the discrete bi-Laplacian; a characterization of complete graphs in terms of the Markovian property of the semigroup generated by $-\mathcal L^2$ is also presented.

Abstract:Let $L$ be the distinguished Laplacian on the Iwasawa $AN$ group associated with a semisimple Lie group $G$. Assume $F$ is a Borel function on $\mathbb{R}^+$. We give a condition on $F$ such that the kernels of the functions $F(L)$ are uniformly bounded. This condition involves the decay of $F$ only and not its derivatives. By a known correspondence, this implies pointwise estimates for a wide range of functions of the Laplace-Beltrami operator on symmetric spaces. In particular, when $G$ is of real rank one and $F(x)={\rm e}^{it\sqrt x}\psi(\sqrt x)$, our bounds are sharp.
