Abstract:We prove that the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator is bounded in the weighted generalized Orlicz space if the weight satisfies the classical Muckenhoupt condition $A_p$ and $t \to \frac{\varphi(x,t)}{t^p}$ is almost increasing in addition to the standard conditions.

Abstract:In \cite{MR447956}, Muckenhoupt and Wheeden formulated a weighted weak $(p,p)$ inequality where the weight for the weak $L^p$ space is treated as a multiplier rather than a measure. They proved such inequalities for the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator and the Hilbert transform for weights in the class $A_p$, while also deriving necessary conditions to characterize the weights for which these estimates hold. In this paper, we establish the sufficiency of these conditions for the maximal operator when $p > 1$ and present corresponding results for the fractional maximal operators. This completes the characterization and resolves the open problem posed by Muckenhoupt and Wheeden for $p > 1$.

Abstract:Let L := -∆ + V be a Schrödinger operator with the nonnegative potential V belonging to the reverse Hölder class RHq 0 (R n ) for some q 0 ∈ [n, ∞) with n ≥ 3, and ϕ :the class of uniformly Muckenhoupt weights) and its uniformly critical lower type index i(ϕ) ∈ ( n n+1 , 1].In this article, the authors prove that the second order Riesz transform ∇ 2 L -1 associated with L is bounded from the Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy space associated with L, H ϕ, L (R n ), to the Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy space Hϕ(R n ), via establishing an atomic characterization of H ϕ, L (R n ).As an application, the authors prove that the operator V L -1 is bounded on the Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy space H ϕ, L (R n ), which further gives the maximal inequality associated with L in H ϕ, L (R n ).All these results are new even when ϕ(x, t) := t p , with p ∈ ( n n+1 , 1], for all x ∈ R n and t ∈ [0, ∞).

Abstract:In this note we consider weighted conditional type operators between different Orlicz spaces and generalized conditional type Holder inequality that we defined in [2]. Then we give some necessary and sufficient conditions for boundedness of weighted conditional type operators. As a consequence we characterize boundedness of weighted conditional type operators and multiplication operators between different L^p-spaces. Finally, we give some upper and lower bounds for essential norm of weighted conditional type operators.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce some new weighted maximal operators of the partial sums of the Walsh-Fourier series. We prove that for some "optimal" weights these new operators indeed are bounded from the martingale Hardy space $H_{p}$ to the Lebesgue space $\text{weak}-L_{p},$ for $0<p<1.$ Moreover, we also prove sharpness of this result.

Abstract:In the first part of this paper we describe the status of the art of this subject. In the second part we present and motivate some new results. Indeed, we introduce some new weighted maximal operators of the partial sums of the Walsh-Fourier series. We prove that for some "optimal" weights these new operators indeed are bounded from the martingale Hardy space $H_{1}(G)$ to the space $\text{weak}-L_{1}(G),$ but is not bounded from $H_{1}(G)$ to the space $L_{1}(G).$

Abstract:Let $L$ be a non-negative self-adjoint operator on $L^2(\mathbb{R}^n)$ whose heat kernels have the Gaussian upper bound estimates. Assume that the growth function $\varphi:\,\mathbb{R}^n\times[0,\infty) \to[0,\infty)$ satisfies that $\varphi(x,\cdot)$ is an Orlicz function and $\varphi(\cdot,t)\in {\mathbb A}_{\infty}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ (the class of uniformly Muckenhoupt weights). Let $H_{\varphi,\,L}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ be the Musielak-Orlicz-Hardy space introduced via the Lusin area function associated with the heat semigroup of $L$. In this article, the authors obtain several maximal function characterizations of the space $H_{\varphi,\,L}(\mathbb{R}^n)$, which, especially, answer an open question of L. Song and L. Yan under an additional mild assumption satisfied by Schr\"odinger operators on $\mathbb{R}^n$ with non-negative potentials belonging to the reverse H\"older class, and second-order divergence form elliptic operators on $\mathbb{R}^n$ with bounded measurable real coefficients.

Abstract:A strong version of the Orlicz maximal operator is introduced and a natural $B_p$ condition for the rectangle case is defined to characterize its boundedness. This fact let us to describe a sufficient condition for the two weight inequalities of the strong maximal function in terms of power and logarithmic bumps. Results for the multilinear version of this operator and for others multi(sub)linear maximal functions associated with bases of open sets are also studied.

Abstract:In this article, we prove a weak type $(p,p)$ maximal inequality, $1<p<\infty$, for weighted averages of a positive Dunford-Schwarz operator $T$ acting on a noncommutative $L_p$-space associated to a semifinite von Neumann algebra $\mathcal{M}$, with weights in $W_q$, where $\frac{1}{p}+\frac{1}{q}=1$. This result is then utilized to obtain modulated individual ergodic theorems with $q$-Besicovitch and $q$-Hartman sequences as weights. Multiparameter versions of these results are also investigated.

Abstract:The main goal of this paper is to provide a complete characterization of the weak-type boundedness of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator, $M$, on weighted Lorentz spaces $\Lambda^p_u(w)$, whenever $p>1$. This solves a problem left open in \cite{crs:crs}. Moreover, with this result, we complete the program of unifying the study of the boundedness of $M$ on weighted Lebesgue spaces and classical Lorentz spaces, which was initiated in the aforementioned monograph.

Abstract:The classical Muckenhoupt's $A_p$ condition is necessary and sufficient for the boundedness of the maximal operator $M$ on $L^p(w)$ spaces. In this paper we obtain another characterization of the $A_p$ condition. As a result, we show that some strong versions of the weighted $L^p(w)$ Coifman--Fefferman and Fefferman--Stein inequalities hold if and only if $w\in A_p$. We also give new examples of Banach function spaces $X$ such that $M$ is bounded on $X$ but not bounded on the associate space $X'$.

Abstract:Let $\mathbf{E}_n: \mathcal{M} \to \mathcal{M}_n$ and $\mathbf{E}_m: \mathcal{N} \to \mathcal{N}_m$ be two sequences of conditional expectations on finite von Neumann algebras. The optimal weak Orlicz type of the associated strong maximal operator $\mathcal{E} = (\mathbf{E}_n\otimes \mathbf{E}_m)_{n,m}$ is not yet known. In a recent work of Jose Conde and the two first-named authors, it was show that $\mathcal{E}$ has weak type $(\Phi, \Phi)$ for a family of functions including $\Phi(t) = t \, \log^{2+\varepsilon} t$, for every $\varepsilon > 0$. In this article, we prove that the weak Orlicz type of $\mathcal{E}$ cannot be lowered below $L \log^2 L$, meaning that if $\mathcal{E}$ is of weak type $(\Phi, \Phi)$, then $\Phi(s) \not\in o(s \, \log^2 s)$. Our proof is based on interpolation. Namely, we use recent techniques of Cadilhac/Ricard to formulate a Marcinkiewicz type theorem for maximal weak Orlicz types. Then, we show that a weak Orlicz type lower than $L \log^2 L$ would imply a $p$-operator constant for $\mathcal{E}$ smaller than the known optimum as $p \to 1^{+}$.

Abstract:We study the boundedness of the Hilbert transform $H$ and the Hilbert maximal operator $H^*$ on weighted Lorentz spaces $\Lambda^p_u(w)$. We start by giving several necessary conditions that, in particular, lead us to the complete characterization of the weak-type boundedness of both $H$ and $H^*$, whenever $u\in A_1$. For the strong-type case, we also get the characterization of both operators when $p>1$. Applications to the case of Lorentz spaces $L^{p,q}(u)$ are presented.

This result improves some known theorems, and in some sense it is sharp.

It is shown that the non-tangential maximal operator $$f\mapsto N(f)(\xi)=\sup_{z\in\Gamma(\xi)}|f(z)|,\quad \xi\in \mathbb{D},$$ is bounded from $AL^q_p(\omega)=L^q_p(\omega)\cap\mathcal{H}(\mathbb{D})$ and $AT^q_p(\omega)=T^q_p(\omega)\cap\mathcal{H}(\mathbb{D})$ to $L^q_p(\omega)$ and $T^q_p(\omega)$, respectively. These pivotal inequalities are used to establish further results such as the density of polynomials in $AL^q_p(\omega)$ and $AT^q_p(\omega)$, and the identity $AL^q_p(\omega)=AT^q_p(\omega)$ for weights admitting a one-sided integral doubling condition. It is also shown that the boundedness of the classical Bergman projection $P_\gamma$, induced by the standard weight $(\gamma+1)(1-|z|^2)^{\gamma}$, on $L^q_p(\omega)$ and $T^q_p(\omega)$ with $1<q,p<\infty$ is independent of $q$, and is described by a Bekollé-Bonami type condition.
