Abstract:We continue our investigation on denominator conjecture of Fomin and Zelevinsky for cluster algebras via geometric models initialed in \cite{FG22}. In this paper, we confirm the denominator conjecture for cluster algebras of finite type. The new contribution is a proof of this conjecture for cluster algebras of type $\mathbb{D}$ and an algorithm for the exceptional types. For the type $\mathbb{D}$ cases, our approach involves geometric model provided by discs with a puncture. By removing the puncture or changing the puncture to an unmarked boundary component, this also yields an alternative proof for the denominator conjecture of cluster algebras of type $\mathbb{A}$ and $\mathbb{C}$ respectively.
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is related to the denominator conjecture in cluster algebras, especially for cluster algebras of finite type. Specifically, the goal of the paper is to prove that different cluster monomials have different denominator vectors under a given cluster.
### Background and Problem Description of the Paper
Cluster algebras are commutative algebras with a special set of generators, called cluster variables. These generators are divided into several overlapping sets, called clusters, and are defined through a series of recursive mutations. According to the Laurent phenomenon, each cluster monomial can be uniquely represented as a rational function of the initial cluster variables:
\[
z = \frac{f(x_1, \dots, x_n)}{x_1^{d_1} \cdots x_n^{d_n}}
\]
where \( f(x_1, \dots, x_n) \in \mathbb{Z}[x_1, \dots, x_n] \) and is not divisible by any \( x_i \). The integer vector \( d_x(z)=(d_1, \dots, d_n) \) is called the denominator vector of \( z \) with respect to \( x \).
Fomin and Zelevinsky proposed the following denominator conjecture:
**Conjecture 1.1**: For any given cluster, different cluster monomials have different denominator vectors.
This conjecture has been verified in some special cases, such as cluster algebras of rank 2 and acyclic cluster algebras. However, for the general case, especially for cluster algebras of finite type, this conjecture is still challenging.
### Main Contributions of the Paper
The main contribution of this paper is to prove that the denominator conjecture holds for cluster algebras of finite type through geometric models (such as a disk with a puncture). Specifically:
- For cluster algebras of type D, the author uses the geometric model of a disk with a puncture and proves the conjecture by studying the intersection vectors of irreducible arc segments.
- For exceptional types (such as E6, E7, E8 and F4), the author verifies the conjecture by algorithms.
In addition, by removing the puncture or turning the puncture into an unmarked boundary part, the author also gives another simple proof of the denominator conjecture for cluster algebras of type A and C.
### Main Results
The main results of the paper are as follows:
**Theorem 1.2**: Let \( A \) be a cluster algebra of finite type. Then, with respect to any given cluster, different cluster monomials have different denominator vectors.
This theorem not only solves the denominator conjecture for cluster algebras of finite type, but also provides new methods and ideas for subsequent research.
### Summary
This paper successfully proves the denominator conjecture for cluster algebras of finite type through geometric models and algorithmic methods, making an important contribution to the development of cluster algebra theory.
