Abstract:We discuss the approximation method of finding a common fixed point of two certain mappings defined on a Banach space. This paper deals with three modes of convergence, namely, weak, strong, and △‐convergences in the presence of the uniform convexity of the norm. It is worth mentioning that the △‐convergence which is closely connected with the weak convergence is discussed without assuming the Opial's condition. Our results not only generalize the results recently announced by Garodia et al. but also rectify a gap in their paper. Finally, some concrete numerical examples are shown that our results are genuine generalizations of a number of results in the literature.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a new problem called the split feasibility and fixed point equality problems (SFFPEP) and propose a new iterative algorithm for solving the problem (SFFPEP) for the class of quasi-nonexpansive mappings in Hilbert spaces. Furthermore, we study the convergence of the proposed algorithm. At the end, we give numerical example that illustrate our theoretical result. The SFFPEP is a generalization of the split feasibility problem (SFP), split feasibility and fixed point problems (SFFPP) and split equality fixed point problem (SEFPP).

Abstract:It is known that several optimization problems can be converted to a fixed point problem for which the underline fixed point operator is an averaged quasi-nonexpansive mapping and thus the corresponding fixed point method utilizes to solve the considered optimization problem. In this paper, we consider a fixed point method involving inertial extrapolation step with relaxation parameter to obtain a common fixed point of a countable family of averaged quasi-nonexpansive mappings in real Hilbert spaces. Our results bring a unification of several versions of fixed point methods for averaged quasi-nonexpansive mappings considered in the literature and give several implications of our results. Abstract:By using the Ishikawa iterative algorithm, we approximate the fixed points and the best proximity points of a relatively non expansive mapping. Also, we use the von Neumann sequence to prove the convergence result in a Hilbert space setting. A comparison table is prepared using a numerical example which shows that the Ishikawa iterative algorithm is faster than some known iterative algorithms such as Picard and Mann iteration.

Abstract:In the present paper, we consider inexact proximal point algorithms for finding singular points of multivalued vector fields on Hadamard manifolds. The rate of convergence is shown to be linear under the mild assumption of metric subregularity. Furthermore, if the sequence of parameters associated with the iterative scheme converges to 0, then the convergence rate is superlinear. At the same time, the finite termination of the inexact proximal point algorithm is also provided under a weak sharp minima-like condition. Applications to optimization problems are provided. Some of our results are new even in Euclidean spaces, while others improve and/or extend some known results in Euclidean spaces. As a matter of fact, in the case of exact proximal point algorithm, our results improve the corresponding results in [G. C. Bento and J. X. Cruz Neto, Opttm., 63 (2014), pp. 1281-1288]. Finally, several examples are provided to illustrate that our results are applicable while the corresponding results in the Hilbert space setting are not.

Abstract:Picard iteration is on the basis of a great number of numerical methods and applications of mathematics. However, it has been known since the 1950s that this method of fixed-point approximation may not converge in the case of nonexpansive mappings. In this paper, an extension of the concept of nonexpansiveness is presented in the first place. Unlike the classical case, the new maps may be discontinuous, adding an element of generality to the model. Some properties of the set of fixed points of the new maps are studied. Afterwards, two iterative methods of fixed-point approximation are analyzed, in the frameworks of b-metric and Hilbert spaces. In the latter case, it is proved that the symmetrically averaged iterative procedures perform well in the sense of convergence with the least number of operations at each step. As an application, the second part of the article is devoted to the study of fractal mappings on Hilbert spaces defined by means of nonexpansive operators. The paper considers fractal mappings coming from φ-contractions as well. In particular, the new operators are useful for the definition of an extension of the concept of α-fractal function, enlarging its scope to more abstract spaces and procedures. The fractal maps studied here have quasi-symmetry, in the sense that their graphs are composed of transformed copies of itself.

Abstract:Inexact proximal point methods are extended to find singular points for multivalued vector fields on Hadamard manifolds. Convergence criteria are established under some mild conditions. In particular, in the case of proximal point algorithm, that is, ε _n=0 for each n , our results improve sharply the corresponding results in Li et al. ( 2009 ). Applications to optimization problems, variational inequality problems and gradient methods are also given.

Abstract:We give a brief account on a basic result (Lemma \ref{lem2}) which is a very useful tool in proving various convergence theorems in the framework of the iterative approximation of fixed points of demicontractive mappings in Hilbert spaces. This Lemma relates the class of quasi-nonexpansive mappings, by one hand, and the class of $k$-demicontractive mappings (quasi $k$-strict pseudocontractions), on the other hand and essentially states that the class of demicontractive mappings, which strictly includes the class of quasi-nonexpansive mappings, can be embedded in the later by means of an averaged perturbation. From the point of view of the fixed point problem, this means that any convergence result for Krasnoselskij-Mann iterative algorithms in the class of $k$-demicontractive mappings can be derived from its corresponding counterpart from quasi-nonexpansive mappings.

Abstract:A kind of the general finite difference schemes with intrinsic parallelism for the boundary value problem of the quasilinear parabolic system is studied without assum- ing heuristically that the original boundary value problem has the unique smooth vector solution. By the method of a priori estimation of the discrete solutions of the nonlinear difference systems, and the interpolation formulas of the various norms of the discrete functions and the fixed-point technique in finite dimensional Euclidean space, the exis- tence and uniqueness of the discrete vector solutions of the nonlinear difference system with intrinsic parallelism are proved. Moreover the unconditional stability of the general finite difference schemes with intrinsic parallelism is justified in the sense of the continu- ous dependence of the discrete vector solution of the difference schemes on the discrete data of the original problems in the discrete w_2~(2,1) norms. Finally the convergence of the discrete vector solutions of the certain difference schemes with intrinsic parallelism to the unique generalized solution of the original quasilinear parabolic problem is proved.

Abstract:A term called the quasi-projection pair $(P,Q)$ was introduced recently by the authors, where $P$ is a projection and $Q$ is an idempotent on a Hilbert $C^*$-module $H$ satisfying $Q^*=(2P-I)Q(2P-I)$, in which $Q^*$ is the adjoint operator of the idempotent $Q$ and $I$ is the identity operator on $H$. Some fundamental issues on quasi-projection pairs, such as the block matrix representations for quasi-projection pairs and the $C^*$-morphisms associated with quasi-projection pairs, are worthwhile to be investigated. This paper aims to make some preparations. One object called the semi-harmonious quasi-projection pair is introduced in the general setting of the adjointable operators on Hilbert $C^*$-modules. Some related operator theories on the common similarity of operators and a norm equation associated with the Friedrichs angle are dealt with.

Abstract:Using the concept of Bregman W-mapping, we propose a parallel hybrid extragradient algorithm for approximating a common element of the set of solutions of pseudomonotone equilibrium problems and split common fixed point problems of Bregman weak relatively nonexpansive mappings. With the algorithm, we state and prove a strong convergence result for finding a common solution of finite family of equilibrium problem and split common fixed point problem in a real Banach space. The stepsize for the split common fixed point problem is chosen in such a way that the algorithm does not require a prior estimation of the operator norm. Finally, we present an application of our results to variational inequality problems. Our result improves and extends some existing results in the literature in these directions.

Abstract:In this paper, we first introduced a new class of generalized non-expansive mappings, which was larger than the class satisfying the condition $ B_{\gamma, \mu } $. Also, we proposed a new iterative process to approximate the fixed point of the mapping we introduced in this work, then we prove convergence theorems for these mappings by using our iteration process. Lastly, a numerical example was given to show the efficiency of this new iteration process. Our results were the extension and generalization of many known results in the literature in fixed point theory.

Abstract:We propose a new parallel-in-time algorithm for solving optimal control problems constrained by discretized partial differential equations. Our approach, which is based on a deeper understanding of ParaExp, considers an overlapping time-domain decomposition in which we combine the solution of homogeneous problems using exponential propagation with the local solutions of inhomogeneous problems. The algorithm yields a linear system whose matrix-vector product can be fully performed in parallel. We then propose a preconditioner to speed up the convergence of GMRES in the special cases of the heat and wave equations. Numerical experiments are provided to illustrate the efficiency of our preconditioners.

Abstract:Metric fixed point theory is becoming increasingly significant across various fields, including data science and iterative methods for solving optimization problems. This paper aims to introduce new fixed point theorems for set-valued mappings under novel regularity conditions, such as orbital regularity and orbital pseudo-Lipschitzness. Instead of traditional metric spaces, we adopt the framework of quasi-metric spaces, motivated by the need to address problems in spaces that are not necessarily metric, such as function spaces of homogeneous type. We also explore the stability of the set of fixed points under variations of the set-valued mapping. Additionally, we provide estimates for the distances from a given point to the set of fixed points and between two sets of fixed points. Building on these findings, we extend the discussion to similar problems involving fixed, coincidence, and cyclic/double fixed points within this framework. Abstract:In this paper, we obtain an equivalent condition to the existence of a common fixed point of a given family of nonexpansive mappings defined on a Hadamard space. Moreover, if the space is bounded, we show that the generating process of the approximate sequence by a specific projection method will stop in finite steps if there is no common fixed point. It is a significant advantage to reveal the nonexistence of a common fixed point in a finite time.

Abstract:Recently, CQ method has been investigated extensively. However, it is mainly applied to modify Mann, Ishikawa and Halpern iterations to get strong convergence. In this paper, we study the properties of CQ method and proposed a framework. Based on that, we obtain a series of strong convergence theorems. Some of them are the extensions of previous results. On the other hand, CQ method, monotone Q method, monotone C method and monotone CQ method, used to be given separately, have the following relations: CQ method TRUE $\Rightarrow$ monotone Q method TRUE $\Rightarrow$ monotone C method TRUE $\Leftrightarrow$ monotone CQ method TRUE.
