Abstract:We prove a new residue formula for integrals with singularities along affine hyperplanes. Our formula makes use of a notion for real matrices called stability which is inspired by ideas from total positivity.

Abstract:We derive residue formulas for the regularized integrals (introduced by Li-Zhou) on configuration spaces of elliptic curves. Based on these formulas, we prove that the regularized integrals satisfy holomorphic anomaly equations, providing a mathematical formulation of the so-called contact term singularities. We also discuss residue formulas for the ordered $A$-cycle integrals and establish their relations with those for the regularized integrals.

The Schwartz index and the residue of singularities of logarithmic foliations along a hypersurface with isolated singularities

Abstract:Given a complex compact manifold $X$, we prove a Baum-Bott type formula for one-dimensional foliations on $X$, logarithmic along a hypersurface with isolated singularities. In this case, we show that the residues of the singularities of foliations can be given in terms of the Schwartz index. Furthermore, in this context, we proved that the Schwartz index is positive when $dim(X)$ is even, and that the GSV index is positive when $dim(X)$ is odd. We also obtained some applications in the context of the Poincaré's problem.

Abstract:We develop a new method to study intersection theory of the main component of the Hilbert scheme of points on complex manifolds. The main result is an iterated residue formula for tautological integrals. We formulate a Chern-Segre-type positivity conjecture for these integrals, and we introduce higher dimensional Segre and Chern integrals.

Abstract:Let $F \in \mathbb{Z}[x_1, \ldots, x_n]$ be a homogeneous form of degree $d \geq 2$, and $V_F^*$ the singular locus of the hypersurface $\{\mathbf{x} \in \mathbb{A}^n_{\mathbb{C}}: F(\mathbf{x}) = 0 \}$. A longstanding result of Birch states that there is a non-trivial integral solution to the equation $F(\mathbf{x}) = 0$ provided $n > \dim V_F^* + (d-1) 2^d$ and there is a non-singular solution in $\mathbb{R}$ and $\mathbb{Q}_p$ for all primes $p$. In this article, we give a different formulation of this result. More precisely, we replace $\dim V_F^*$ with a quantity $\mathcal{H}_F$ defined in terms of the Hessian matrix of $F$. This quantity satisfies $0 \leq \mathcal{H}_F \leq \dim V_F^*$; therefore, we improve on the aforementioned result of Birch if $\mathcal{H}_F < \dim V_F^*$. We also prove the corresponding result for systems of forms of equal degree.

Abstract:We extend the circle of ideas from a previous paper on hypersurfaces to functions $f \colon (\mathbb C^n, 0) \to (\mathbb C^k, 0)$ with an isolated singularity in a stratified sense on an arbitrary, but fixed complex analytic germ $(X, 0)$. An extension of Tib{\u a}r's Bouquet Theorem to this setup allows for a topological definition of Milnor numbers $\mu(\alpha; f)$ for each stratum $V^\alpha$ of $X$ and we prove several formulas which compute these numbers as (alternating) sums of certain ``homological indices''. The main technical result at work in the background is a local Riemann-Roch type theorem, relating a topological obstruction to holomorphic Euler characteristics.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove a formula, realizing certain residual Eisenstein series on symplectic groups as regularized kernel integrals. These Eisenstein series, as well as the kernel integrals, are attached to Speh representations. This forms an initial step to a new type of a regularized Siegel-Weil formula that we propose. This new formula bears the same relation to the generalized doubling integrals of Cai, Friedberg, Ginzburg and Kaplan, as does the regularized Siegel-Weil formula to the doubling integrals of Piatetski-Shapiro and Rallis.

Global residue formula for logarithmic indices of foliations

Abstract:We prove a global residual formula in terms of logarithmic indices for one-dimensional holomorphic foliations, with isolated singularities, and logarithmic along normal crossing divisors. We also give a formula for the total sum of the logarithmic indices if the singular set of the foliation is contained in the invariant divisor. As an application, we provide a formula for the number of singularities in the complement of the invariant divisor on complex projective spaces. Finally, we obtain a Poincaré-Hopf type formula for singular normal projective varieties.

Integral Hasse principle for Markoff type cubic surfaces

Abstract:We establish new upper bounds on the number of failures of the integral Hasse principle within the family of Markoff type cubic surfaces $x^2+ y^2+ z^2- xyz= a$ with $|a|\leq A$ as $A\to \infty$. Our bound improves upon existing work of Ghosh and Sarnak. As a result, we demonstrate that the integral Hasse principle holds for a density $1$ of surfaces in certain sparse sequences.

Abstract:We prove a new determinantal formula for the characters of irreducible representations of orthosymplectic Lie superalgebras analogous to the formula developed by Moens and Jeugt (J Algebraic Combin 17(3):283–307, 2003) for general linear Lie superalgebras. Our proof uses the Jacobi–Trudi type formulas for orthosymplectic characters. As a consequence, we show that the odd symplectic characters introduced by Proctor (Invent Math 92(2):307–332, 1988) are the same as the orthosymplectic characters with some specialized indeterminates. We also give a generalization of an odd symplectic character identity due to Brent, Krattenthaler and Warnaar (J Combin Theory Ser A 144:80–138, 2016).

Abstract:Hyper-Positive real, matrix-valued, rational functions are associated with absolute stability (the Lurie problem). Here, quantitative subsets of Hyper-positive functions, related through nested inclusions, are introduced. Structurally, this family of functions turns out to be matrix-convex and closed under inversion. A state-space characterization of these functions, through a corresponding Kalman-Yakubovich-Popov Lemma is given. Technically, the classical Linear Matrix Inclusions, associated with passive systems, are here substituted by Quadratic Matrix Inclusions.

Abstract:Let ( V , 0) be a hypersurface with an isolated singularity at the origin defined by the holomorphic function . We introduce a new derivation Lie algebra associated to ( V , 0). The new Lie algebra is defined by the ideal of antiderivatives with respect to the Tjurina ideal of ( V , 0). More precisely, let and , then and . Their dimensions as a complex vector space are denoted as and , respectively. is a new invariant of singularities. In this paper we study the new local algebra and the derivation Lie algebra , and also compute them for fewnomial isolated singularities. Moreover, we formulate sharp lower estimation conjectures for and when ( V , 0) are weighted homogeneous isolated hypersurface singularities. We verify these conjectures for a large class of singularities. Lastly, we provide an application of and to distinguishing contact classes of singularities.

Integrability and singularities of Harish-Chandra characters

Abstract:Let $G$ be a reductive group over a local field $F$ of characteristic $0$. By Harish-Chandra's regularity theorem, every global character $\Theta_{\pi}$ of an irreducible, admissible representation $\pi$ of $G$ is given by a locally integrable function $\theta_{\pi}$ on $G$. It is a natural question whether $\theta_{\pi}$ has better integrability properties, namely, whether it is locally $L^{1+\epsilon}$-integrable for some $\epsilon>0$. It follows from Harish-Chandra's work that the answer is positive, and this gives rise to a new singularity invariant of representations $\epsilon_{\star}(\pi):=\sup\left\{ \epsilon:\theta_{\pi}\in L_{\mathrm{Loc}}^{1+\epsilon}(G)\right\} $, which we explore in this paper. We provide a lower bound on $\epsilon_{\star}(\pi)$ for any $G$, and determine $\epsilon_{\star}(\pi)$ in the case of a $p$-adic $\mathrm{GL}_{n}$. This is done by studying integrability properties of the Fourier transforms $\widehat{\xi_{\mathcal{O}}}$ of stable Richardson nilpotent orbital integrals $\xi_{\mathcal{O}}$. We express $\epsilon_{\star}(\widehat{\xi_{\mathcal{O}}})$ as the log-canonical threshold of a suitable relative Weyl discriminant, and use a resolution of singularities algorithm coming from the theory of hyperplane arrangements, to compute it in terms of the partition associated with the orbit. As an application, we obtain bounds on the multiplicities of $K$-types in irreducible representations of $G$ in the $p$-adic case, where $K$ is an open compact subgroup.

Abstract:Let R=C[x1,x2,⋯,zn]/(f) where f is a weighted homogeneous polynomial defining an isolated singularity at the origin. Then R, and Der(R), the Lie algebra of derivations on R, are graded. It is well-known that Der(R) has no negatively graded component [10]. J. Wahl conjectured that the above fact is still true in higher codimensional case provided that R=C[x1,x2,⋯,xn]/(f1,f2,⋯,fm) is an isolated, normal and complete intersection singularity and f1,f2,⋯,fm are weighted homogeneous polynomials with the same weight type (w1,w2,⋯,wn). On the other hand the first author Yau conjectured that the moduli algebra A(V)=C[x1,x2,⋯,xn]/(∂f/∂x1,⋯,∂f/∂xn) has no negatively weighted derivations where f is a weighted homogeneous polynomial defining an isolated singularity at the origin. Assuming this conjecture has a positive answer, he gave a characterization of weighted homogeneous hypersurface singularities only using the Lie algebra Der(A(V)) of derivations on A(V). The conjecture of Yau can be thought as an Artinian analogue of J. Wahl's conjecture. For the low embedding dimension, the Yau conjecture has a positive answer. In this paper we prove this conjecture for any high-dimensional singularities under the condition that the lowest weight is bigger than or equal to half of the highest weight.

Abstract:Weighted norm estimates and representation formulas are proved for non-homogeneous singular integrals with no regularity condition on the kernel and only an L log L integrability condition. The representation formulas involve averages over a star-shaped set naturally associated with the kernel. The proof of the norm estimates is based on the representation formulas, some new variations of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal function, and weighted Littlewood-Paley theory.

Abstract:We have established (see Shiohama and Xu in J. Geom. Anal. 7:377–386, 1997; Lemma) an integral formula on the absolute Lipschitz-Killing curvature and critical points of height functions of an isometrically immersed compact Riemannian n-manifold into R n+q. Making use of this formula, we prove a topological sphere theorem and a differentiable sphere theorem for hypersurfaces with bounded L n/2 Ricci curvature norm in R n+1. We show that the theorems of Gauss-Bonnet-Chern, Chern-Lashof and the Willmore inequality are all its consequences.
