Abstract:Wagner (1992) proved that the Hadamard product of two Pólya frequency sequences that are interpolated by polynomials is again a Pólya frequency sequence. We study the preservation under Hadamard products of related properties of significance in combinatorics. In particular, we show that ultra log-concavity, $\gamma$-positivity, and interlacing symmetric decompositions are preserved. Furthermore, we disprove a conjecture by Fischer and Kubitzke (2014) concerning the real-rootedness of Hadamard powers.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
This paper attempts to address the problem of preserving inequalities related to the Hadamard product. Specifically, the paper investigates the preservation of important properties in combinatorics (such as ultra-log-concavity, γ-positivity, and interlacing symmetric decomposition) under the Hadamard product. Additionally, the paper disproves a conjecture regarding the real-rootedness of Hadamard powers. The main problems addressed in the paper are as follows: 1. **Preservation of Ultra-Log-Concavity**: The paper proves that if the W(p) of two polynomials belongs to a specific class of ultra-log-concave polynomials, then the W(pq) of their Hadamard product also belongs to this class of ultra-log-concave polynomials. 2. **Preservation of γ-Positivity**: If the W(p) and W(q) of two polynomials are symmetric and have the same defect, then the W(pq) of their Hadamard product is also symmetric and γ-positive. 3. **Preservation of Symmetric Decomposition**: The paper demonstrates the preservation of non-negative symmetric decomposition, interlacing symmetric decomposition, and γ-positive symmetric decomposition under the Hadamard product. 4. **Preservation of Real-Rootedness**: The paper disproves a conjecture regarding the real-rootedness of Hadamard powers and provides a counterexample. Through these results, the paper provides new theoretical support for the application of the Hadamard product in combinatorics.
