Abstract:In this work, we study an optimal boundary control for the stochastic Allen Cahn Navier Stokes system. The governing system of nonlinear partial differential equations consists of the stochastic Navier Stokes equations with non homogeneous Navier slip boundary condition coupled with a phase-field equation, which is the convective Allen Cahn equation type. We investigate the well posedness of the nonlinear system. More precisely, the existence and uniqueness of global strong solution in dimension two is established and we prove the existence of an optimal solution to the control problem.
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is the optimal boundary control problem of the two - dimensional stochastic Allen - Cahn Navier - Stokes system with non - homogeneous Navier - slip boundary conditions. Specifically, the authors focus on how to find the optimal boundary control so that the behavior of the system is as close as possible to the given target state.
### Specific description of the problem
1. **System description**:
- The research object is a model that describes the phase separation process of an incompressible binary mixed fluid, namely the stochastic Allen - Cahn Navier - Stokes (AC - NS) system.
- This system consists of two main equations: the stochastic Navier - Stokes equation and the convective Allen - Cahn equation (phase - field equation).
- The boundary condition is the non - homogeneous Navier - slip boundary condition, which physically means that there is a slip phenomenon of the fluid at the solid boundary.
2. **Mathematical model**:
- The stochastic Navier - Stokes equation describes the velocity field \(v\) and the pressure field \(p\) of the fluid and takes into account the influence of multiplicative noise.
- The Allen - Cahn equation describes the evolution of the phase - field parameter \(\varphi\), where the chemical potential \(\mu\) is the variational derivative of the free - energy functional.
- The control variables are the functions \(a\) and \(b\) on the boundary, which represent the inflow and outflow velocities of the fluid and the stress conditions respectively.
3. **Research objectives**:
- Prove the existence and uniqueness of the strong solution of this system.
- Study the optimal control problem, that is, find the optimal boundary control \((a, b)\) so that the behavior of the system is closest to the given target state \((v_d,\varphi_d)\).
- Define a cost functional \(J(a, b, v,\varphi)\) and minimize this functional to determine the optimal control.
4. **Methods and techniques**:
- Use the Galerkin approximation method to construct approximate solutions, and prove that the limit process is the solution of the system through uniform estimates and weak convergence techniques.
- Apply the dynamic programming principle and other related techniques to prove the existence of the optimal control.
### Formula display
The main equations of the stochastic AC - NS system can be expressed as:
\[
\begin{cases}
dv+(-\nu\Delta v+(v\cdot\nabla)v+\nabla p - K\mu\nabla\varphi)dt = g(t,v)dW, & \text{in }D\times(0,T),\\
\text{div }v = 0, & \text{in }D\times(0,T),\\
\frac{\partial\varphi}{\partial t}+v\cdot\nabla\varphi+\mu = 0, & \text{in }D\times(0,T),\\
\mu = -\delta\Delta\varphi+\xi f(\varphi), & \text{in }D\times(0,T),\\
\frac{\partial\varphi}{\partial n}= 0, & \text{on }\partial D\times(0,T),\\
v\cdot n = a, [2D(v)n+\alpha v]\cdot\tau = b, & \text{on }\Gamma_T=\partial D\times(0,T),\\
(v,\varphi)(0)=(v_0,\varphi_0), & \text{in }D.
\end{cases}
\]
