Abstract:This paper is the final step in solving the problem of starlikeness of Teichmuller spaces in Bers' embedding. This step concerns the case of finite dimensional Teichmuller spaces ${\mathbf T}(g, n)$ of positive dimension (corresponding to punctured Riemann surfaces of finite conformal type $(g, n)$ with $2g - 2 + n > 0$).

Abstract:This is a survey on the analytic properties of the Teichmüller space T(M) of a Riemann surface M, with particular attention to the case where the dimension of T(M) is infinite. Some important results described are due to the authors of this chapter. The main results presented are the following. The cotangent space of T(M) is described via the Bers embedding, a biholomorphic embedding of T(M) onto a subset of the Banach space Q(M) of holomorphic quadratic differentials on M. The tangent space is then identified with the Bergman space A1(M), the pre-dual of Q(M). If the surface M is of infinite analytic type, then A1(M) ≠ Q(M), unlike the situation where M is of finite type. The classification of biholomorphic maps between Teichmüller spaces is studied via the classification of the isometries between the cotangent spaces of the corresponding Riemann surfaces, with respect to the Kobayashi and Teichmüller metrics. If M and N are two Riemann surfaces (which a priori need not be homeomorphic), the existence of a surjective ℂ-linear isometry between A1(M) and A1(N) implies that M and N are conformally equivalent. This implies that every biholomorphic map between Teichmüller spaces T(M) and T(N) is induced by a quasiconformal mapping between the surfaces M and N. In particular, the automorphism group of T(M) is equal to the mapping class group of M. This is a complete generalization of a famous theorem of Royden stating the same result for surfaces of finite type. The Teichmüller spaces of any two Riemann surfaces of infinite analytic type are locally bi-Lipschitz equivalent. The chapter ends with open problems on the subject discussed.
Failure of the well-rounded retract for Outer space and Teichmüller space

Abstract:The well-rounded retract for $\mathrm{SL}_n(\mathbb{Z})$ is defined as the set of flat tori of unit volume and dimension $n$ whose systoles generate a finite-index subgroup in homology. This set forms an equivariant spine of minimal dimension for the space of flat tori. For both the Outer space $X_n$ of metric graphs of rank $n$ and the Teichmüller space $\mathcal{T}_g$ of closed hyperbolic surfaces of genus $g$, we show that the literal analogue of the well-rounded retract does not contain an equivariant spine. We also prove that the sets of graphs whose systoles fill either topologically or geometrically (two analogues of a set proposed as a spine for $\mathcal{T}_g$ by Thurston) are spines for $X_n$ but that their dimension is larger than the virtual cohomological dimension of $\mathrm{Out}(F_n)$ in general.

Abstract:Let T(g) be the Teichmüller space of compact Riemann surfaces of genus g. Then T(g) is the space of conformal structures on a fixed surface W modulo equivalence under conformal maps homotopic to the identity. The Teichmüller modular group [unk] is the group of all orientation preserving homeomorphisms of W onto itself modulo those which are homotopic to the identity. Each element of [unk] induces a biholomorphic map of T(g) onto itself, and the present note outlines a proof of the converse statement: Every biholomorphic map of T(g) onto itself is induced by an element of [unk]. It is first shown that every isometry of T(g) with the Teichmüller metric arises from an element of [unk]. The Teichmüller metric is then shown to be the Kobayashi metric for T(g) and hence invariant under biholomorphic maps.
On certain star versions of the Scheepers property

Abstract:The star versions of the Scheepers property, namely star-Scheepers, strongly star-Scheepers and new star-Scheepers property have been introduced. We explore further ramifications concerning critical cardinalities. Quite a few interesting observations are obtained while dealing with the Isbell-Mrówka spaces, Niemytzki plane and Alexandroff duplicates. The properties like monotonically normal, locally countable cellularity (which is introduced here) play an important role in our investigation. We study games corresponding to the classical and star variants of the Scheepers property which have not been investigated in prior works. Some open problems are also posed.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider two questions on absolute star-Lindelofness and star-Lindelofness: (1) Whether every Tychonoff star-Lindelof space can be embedded into some Tychonoff absolutely star-Lindelof space as a closed subspace or as a closed G(delta)-subspace; (2) Characterize the Tychonoff star-Lindelof spaces which can be embedded as regular closed subspaces into Tychonoff absolutely star-Lindelof spaces. We proved that the answer to first question is YES in general. For the second question we give a complete solution.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate what selection principles properties are possessed by small (with respect to the bounding and dominating numbers) unions of spaces with certain (star) selection principles.. Furthermore, we give several results about iterations of these properties and weaker properties than paracompactness. Abstract:We introduce the class of sparse symmetric shifted monomial ideals. These ideals have linear quotients and their Betti numbers are computed. Using this, we prove that the symbolic powers of the generalized star configuration ideal are sequentially Cohen–Macaulay under some mild genericness assumption. With respect to these symbolic powers, we also consider the Harbourne–Huneke containment problem and establish the Demailly-like bound.

Abstract:For a given ǫ > 0, we show that there exist two finite index sub- groups of P SL2(Z) which are (1 + ǫ)-quasisymmetrically conjugated and the conjugation homeomorphism is not conformal. This implies that for any ǫ > 0 there are two finite regular covers of the Modular once punctured torus T0 (or just the Modular torus) and a (1 + ǫ)-quasiconformal between them that is not homotopic to a conformal map. As an application of the above results, we show that the orbit of the basepoint in the Teichmuller space T(Sp) of the punctured solenoid Sp under the action of the corresponding Modular group (which is the mapping class group of Sp (5), (6)) has the closure in T(Sp) strictly larger than the orbit and that the closure is necessarily uncountable.

Abstract:The article studies a generalization of the classical Fermat-Torricelli problem to normed spaces of arbitrary finite dimension. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the uniqueness of the solution of the Fermat-Torricelli problem for any n points in a fixed space are obtained, and more precise conditions for normed planes and three-dimensional spaces are presented. In addition, examples of the application of the criterion in the norms given by regular polyhedra are given.

Atypical stars on a directed landscape geodesic

Abstract:In random geometry, a recurring theme is that any two geodesics emanating from a typical point part ways at a strictly positive distance from the above point, and we call such points as $1$-stars. However, the measure zero set of atypical stars, the points where such coalescence fails, is typically uncountable and the corresponding Hausdorff dimensions of these sets have been heavily investigated for a variety of models including the directed landscape, Liouville quantum gravity and the Brownian map. In this paper, we consider the directed landscape-- the scaling limit of last passage percolation as constructed in the work Dauvergne-Ortmann-Virág '18-- and look into the Hausdorff dimension of the set of atypical stars lying on a geodesic. We show that the above dimension is almost surely equal to $1/3$. This is in contrast to Ganguly-Zhang '22, where it was shown that set of atypical stars on the line $\{x=0\}$ has dimension $2/3$. This reduction of the dimension from $2/3$ to $1/3$ yields a quantitative manifestation of the smoothing of the environment around a geodesic with regard to exceptional behaviour.

Abstract:In this paper, we define a subclass of starlike functions associated with the Van der Pol numbers. For this class, we derive structural formula, radius of starlikeness of order α, strong starlikeness, and some inclusion results. We also study radii problems for various classes of analytic functions. Furthermore, we investigate some coefficient-related problems which include the sharp initial coefficient bounds and sharp bounds on Hankel determinants of order two and three.

Abstract:In this paper we show how some metric properties of the unit sphere of a normed space can help to approach a solution to Tingley's problem. In our main result we show that if an onto isometry between the spheres of strictly convex spaces is the identity when restricted to some relative open subset, then it is the identity. This implies that an onto isometry between the unit spheres of strictly convex finite dimensional spaces is linear if and only it is linear on a relative open set. We prove the same for arbitrary two-dimensional spaces and obtain that every two-dimensional, non strictly convex, normed space has the Mazur-Ulam Property. We also include some other less general, yet interesting, results, along with a generalisation of curvature to normed spaces.

Abstract:We proved that the Maximal cusp is not dense on the Bers boundary of the Teichmüller space of infinite type Riemann surfaces satisfying some analytic conditions. This is a counterexample to the infinite-type case of the McMullen result for finite-type Riemann surfaces. More precisely, we showed that maximal cusps cannot approach the points on the Bers boundary corresponding to the deformation by the David map, which can be regarded as a degenerate quasiconformal map in the neighborhood of one end. In addition, to prove this, we used quasiconformal deformations in the neighborhood of a fixed end. We then proved that such a subset of the Teichmüller space has a manifold structure.
