Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the relations between various types of topological pressures and different versions of measure-theoretical pressures. We extend Feng–Huang's variational principle for packing entropy to packing pressure and obtain two new variational principles for Pesin–Pitskel and packing pressures respectively. We show that various types of Katok pressures for an ergodic measure with respect to a potential function are equal to the sum of measure-theoretic entropy of this measure and the integral of the potential function. Moreover, we obtain Billingsley type theorem for packing pressure, which indicates that packing pressure can be determined by measure-theoretic upper local pressure of measures, and a variational principle for packing pressure of the set of generic points for any invariant ergodic Borel probability measure.

Abstract:Borrowing the idea of topological pressure determining measure-theoretical entropy in topological dynamical systems, we establish a variational principle for upper metric mean dimension with potential in terms of upper measure-theoretical metric mean dimension of invariant measures. Moreover, the notion of equilibrium states is introduced to characterize these measures that attain the supremum of the variational principle.

Abstract:For infinite measure-theoretic entropy systems, we introduce the notion of measure-theoretic metric mean dimension of invariant measures for different types of measure-theoretic $\epsilon$-entropies, and show that measure-theoretic metric mean dimensions of different types of measure-theoretic $\epsilon$-entropies coincide with the packing metric mean dimension of the set of generic points of ergodic measures.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce the notion of Feldman-Katok pseudo-orbits and use it to study topological pressure. We prove that the topological pressure of a dynamical system can be computed by measuring the Feldman-Katok pseudo-orbits complexity of the shift map on the potential function, which extends Barge and Swanson's result on entropy and pseudo-orbits \cite{pse2}.

Abstract:In this note, we consider two Riemannian metrics on a moduli space of metric graphs. Each of them could be thought of as an analogue of the Weil–Petersson metric on the moduli space of metric graphs. We discuss and compare geometric features of these two metrics with the “classic” Weil–Petersson metric in Teichmüller theory. This paper is motivated by Pollicott and Sharp’s work (Pollicott and Sharp in Geom Dedic 172(1):229–244, 2014). Moreover, we fix some errors in Pollicott and Sharp (2014).

Abstract:It is well-known that for a Brownian motion, if we change the medium to be inhomogeneous by a measure μ, then the new motion (time changed process) will diffuse according to a different metric D(·, ·). In [27], Kigami initiated a general scheme to construct such metrics through some self-similar weight functions g on the symbolic space. In this paper we give an in-depth study of this construction on the nested fractals and the generalized Sierpinski carpets; we assume further that the weight functions g := ga is generated by the “symmetric” weights a. LetM be the set of a such that Dga defines a metric, and let S be the boundary ofM. We provide a recursive weight transfer construction to obtain the M on the nested fractals, and illustrate the construction by the Lindstrøm snowflake; for the Sierpinski carpet we use a symmetric argument directly to obtain theM. Our main result is to characterize the metrics from ga, a ∈ S satisfy the metric chain condition (MCC), and are equivalent to the geodesic metrics. The MCC is used for the lower estimate of the sub-Gaussian heat kernel. This together with the upper estimate in [27] allows us to have a concrete class of metrics for time change, and for the two sided sub-Gaussian heat kernel estimate.

One of our main results is that the metrics from g a satisfy the metric chain condition if and only if a ∈ S. To determine M and S , we provide a recursive weight transfer construction on the nested fractals, and a basic symmetric argument on the Sierpinski carpet. As an application, we use the metric chain condition to obtain the lower estimate of the sub-Gaussian heat kernel. This together with the upper estimate obtained by Kigami allows us to have a concrete class of metrics for the time change, and the two-sided sub-Gaussian heat kernel estimate on the fundamental fractals.

Abstract:We consider the probability distribution when the monotonic function F (X ) of the independent variable X takes the maximum or minimum expected value under the two constraints of a certain probability and a certain expected value of the independent variable X. We proposed an equal probability and equal expected value splitting method. With this method, we proved four inequalities, and two of them can be reduced to Jensen's inequalities. Subsequently, we found that after dividing the nonmonotone function H (X ) into multiple monotone intervals the problem of solving the maximum and minimum expected values of H (X ) can be transformed into the problem of solving the extreme value of a multiple-variable function. Finally, we apply the proved theory to solve two problems in quantum metrology. When studying the quantum parameter estimation in a Mach-Zehnder interferometer, for an equal total input photon number, we found an optimal path-symmetric entangled state that makes the quantum Fisher information of the outcome state take the maximum value, and we proved that the NOON state is the path-symmetric entangled state that makes the quantum Fisher information of the outcome state take the minimum value. Finally, when studying the quantum parameter estimation in the Landau-Zener-Jaynes-Cummings model, we found the optimal initial state of the cavity field that makes the final state of the system obtain the maximum quantum Fisher information.

Abstract:Given a topological dynamical system (X, T), a Borel cover U of X and a sub-additive sequence F of real-valued continuous functions on X, two notions of measure-theoretical pressure P(mu)(-)(T,U,F) and P(mu)(+)(T,U,F) for an invariant Borel probability measure mu are introduced. When U is an open cover, a local variational principle between topological and measure-theoretical pressure is proved; it is established the upper semi-continuity of P(center dot)(-)(T,U,F) and P(center dot)(+)(T,U,F) on the space of all invariant Borel probability measures. The notions of measure-theoretical pressure P(mu)(-)(T,X,F) and P(mu)(+)(T,X,F) for an invariant Borel probability measure mu are also introduced. A global variational principle between topological and measure-theoretical pressure is also obtained.

Abstract:We suggest a new way of defining optimal transport of positive-semidefinite matrix-valued measures. It is inspired by a recent rendering of the incompressible Euler equations and related conservative systems as concave maximization problems. The main object of our attention is the Kantorovich-Bures metric space, which is a matricial analogue of the Wasserstein and Hellinger-Kantorovich metric spaces. We establish some topological, metric and geometric properties of this space, which includes the existence of the optimal transportation path.

Abstract:We prove a variational principle for the upper and lower metric mean dimension of level sets \[ \left\{x\in X: \lim_{n\to\infty}\frac{1}{n}\sum_{j=0}^{n-1}\varphi(f^{j}(x))=\alpha\right\} \] associated to continuous potentials $\varphi:X\to \mathbb R$ and continuous dynamics $f:X\to X$ defined on compact metric spaces and exhibiting the specification property. This result relates the upper and lower metric mean dimension of the above mentioned sets with growth rates of measure-theoretic entropy of partitions decreasing in diameter associated to some special measures. Moreover, we present several examples to which our result may be applied to. Similar results were previously known for the topological entropy and for the topological pressure.

Abstract:Let be a family of open subsets of a topological space X equipped with a nonnegative Borel measure satisfying some basic properties. We establish sharp quantitative weighted norm inequalities for the Hardy–Littlewood maximal operator associated with in terms of mixed – constants. The main ingredient to prove this result is a sharp form of a weak reverse Hölder inequality for the weights. As an application of this inequality, we also provide a quantitative version of the open property for weights. Next, we prove a covering lemma in this setting and using this lemma establish the endpoint Fefferman–Stein weighted inequality for the maximal operator . Moreover, vector-valued extensions for maximal inequalities are also obtained in this context.

Abstract:It is well-known that $\epsilon$-stable sets have a deep connection with the topological entropy of dynamical systems. In the present paper, we investigate the relationships of three types of upper metric mean dimensions with potential between \emph{the blocks of $\epsilon$-stable sets, $\epsilon$-stable sets, the dispersion of preimages of $\epsilon$-stable sets} and the whole phase space. Besides, some chaotic phenomenons are revealed in infinite entropy systems. As an application of main results, we show tail entropy, preimage neighborhood entropy and topological entropy have the same metric mean dimension.
