Abstract:The weight two ordinary deformations are unobstructed in the cyclotomic limit under certain assumptions. We show that such an ordinary deformation ring over the cyclotomic tower can have arbitrarily large dimension.

Abstract:Let $K/\mathbf{Q}_p$ be a finite unramified extension, $\overline{\rho}:\mathrm{Gal}(\overline{\mathbf{Q}}_p/K)\rightarrow\mathrm{GL}_n(\overline{\mathbf{F}}_p)$ a continuous representation, and $\tau$ a tame inertial type of dimension $n$. We explicitly determine, under mild regularity conditions on $\tau$, the potentially crystalline deformation ring $R^{\eta,\tau}_{\overline{\rho}}$ in parallel Hodge--Tate weights $\eta=(n-1,\cdots,1,0)$ and inertial type $\tau$ when the \emph{shape} of $\overline{\rho}$ with respect to $\tau$ has colength at most one. This has application to the modularity of a class of shadow weights in the weight part of Serre's conjecture. Along the way we make unconditional the local-global compatibility results of \cite{PQ} and further study the geometry of moduli spaces of Fontaine--Laffaille representations in terms of colength one weights.

On deformation rings of residual Galois representations with three Jordan-Holder factors and modularity

Abstract:In this paper, we study Fontaine-Laffaille, self-dual deformations of a mod p non-semisimple Galois representation of dimension n with its Jordan-Holder factors being three mutually non-isomorphic absolutely irreducible representations. We show that under some conditions regarding the orders of certain Selmer groups, the universal deformation ring is a discrete valuation ring. Given enough information on the Hecke algebra, we also prove an R = T theorem in the general context. We then apply our results to abelian surfaces with cyclic rational isogenies and certain 6-dimensional representations arising from automorphic forms congruent to Ikeda lifts. Assuming the Bloch-Kato conjecture, our result identifies special L-value conditions for the existence of a unique abelian surface isogeny class and an R = T theorem for certain 6-dimensional Galois representations.

Abstract:A well known result of B. Mazur gives a lower bound for the Krull dimension of the universal deformation ring associated to an absolutely irreducible residual representation in terms of the group cohomology of the adjoint representation. The question about equality - at least in the Galois case - also goes back to B. Mazur. In the general case the question about equality is the subject of Gouvêa's "Dimension conjecture". In this note we provide a counterexample to this conjecture. More precisely, we construct an absolutely irreducible residual representation with smooth universal deformation ring of strict greater Krull dimension as expected.

We show that the corresponding deformation rings are formally smooth over a group algebra of a finite abelian $p$-group. We compute their dimension and the set of irreducible components.

Abstract:In this article, we study deformations of conjugate self-dual Galois representations. The study is twofold. First, we prove an R=T type theorem for a conjugate self-dual Galois representation with coefficients in a finite field, satisfying a certain property called rigid. Second, we study the rigidity property for the family of residue Galois representations attached to a symmetric power of an elliptic curve, as well as to a regular algebraic conjugate self-dual cuspidal representation.

Deformation Quantization via Categorical Factorization Homology

Abstract:This paper develops an approach to categorical deformation quantization via factorization homology. We show that a quantization of the local coefficients for factorization homology is equivalent to consistent quantizations of its value on manifolds. To formulate our results we introduce the concepts of shifted almost Poisson and BD categories. Our main example is the character stack of flat principal bundles for a reductive algebraic group $G$, where we show that applying the general framework to the Drinfeld category reproduces deformations previously introduced by Li-Bland and Ševera. As a direct consequence, we can conclude a precise relation between their quantization and those introduced by Alekseev, Grosse, and Schomerus. To arrive at our results we compute factorization homology with values in a ribbon category enriched over complete $\mathbb{C}[[\hbar]]$-modules. More generally, we define enriched skein categories which compute factorization homology for ribbon categories enriched over a general closed symmetric monoidal category $\mathcal{V}$.

Abstract:We compute several types of dimension for the bounded derived categories of coherent sheaves of orbifold curves. This completes the calculation of these dimensions for derived categories of noncommutative curves in the sense of Reiten-van den Bergh. Along the way we construct stability conditions for orbifold curves. We also obtain a characterisation of orbifold curves with hereditary tilting bundle in terms of diagonal dimension.

Abstract:We study the dimensional aspect of the geometry of quantum spaces. Introducing a physically motivated notion of the scaling dimension, we study in detail the model based on a fuzzy torus. We show that for a natural choice of a deformed Laplace operator, this model demonstrates quite non-trivial behaviour: the scaling dimension flows from 2 in IR to 1 in UV. Unlike another model with the similar property, the so-called Horava-Lifshitz model, our construction does not have any preferred direction. The dimension flow is rather achieved by a rearrangement of the degrees of freedom. In this respect the number of dimensions is deceptive. Some physical consequences are discussed.

On the Kodaira Dimension of the Moduli of Deformation Generalised Kummer Varieties

Abstract:We prove general type results for orthogonal modular varieties associated with the moduli of compact hyperkähler manifolds of deformation generalised Kummer type ('deformation generalised Kummer varieties'). In particular, we consider moduli spaces of deformation generalised Kummer fourfolds with split-polarisation of degree $2d$. Our main result is that when $d$ is prime or $2d$ is square-free then the associated modular varieties are of general type when $d$ exceeds bounds we determine, subject to the existence of certain low-weight cusp forms for $\operatorname{O}(2,n)$. As a corollary, we conclude that the corresponding moduli spaces are also of general type.

Abstract:In this article we provide simple and provable bounds on the size and shape of the quasiconformal deformation space of the groups $\IZ_p*\IZ_q$, the free product of cyclic groups of order $p$ and $q$, in $\PSL(2,\IC)$ for $3\leq p,q \leq \infty$. Though simple, these bounds are sharp, meeting the highly fractal boundary of the deformation space in four cusp groups. Such bounds have great utility in computer assisted searches for extremal Kleinian groups so as to identify universal constraints (volume, length spectra, etc) on the geometry and topology of hyperbolic $3$-orbifolds. As an application, we prove a strengthened version of a conjecture by Morier-Genoud, Ovsienko, and Veselov on the faithfulness of the specialised Burau representation.

Combinatorial decompositions for deformed or decorated classes of maps

Abstract:The perturbative expansion of tensorial field theories in Feynman graphs can be interpreted as weighted generating series of some piecewise linear varieties. This simple fact establishes a link between two a priori distinct fields: the combinatorics of discrete manifolds on one hand and tensorial field theories on the other hand. In this thesis, we study different aspects revolving around this connection between combinatorics and field theory. First, we consider constellations model, which generalize maps and their algebraic properties. This makes them suited to probe the b-deformation, a deformation of the algebra of symmetric functions. We will study the constraints satisfied by the generating series of cubical b-deformed constellations. Second, we analyze the double scaling limit of particular tensor models of order 3. For tensor of order greater than two, the nature of the 1/N-expansion is qualitatively different from the matrix case of order 2. In particular, only the leading order graphs are fully characterized. Despite this fact, it is possible to identify graphs of subleading orders contributing to the double scaling limit by implementing the scheme decomposition for Feynman graphs of these theories. An analysis of the singularity of the schemes then allows us to give a complete characterization of the graphs contributing to the double scaling limit. Finally, we investigate a particular link between a tensor and a vector field theory which both admit a melonic limit. Namely, we will show that we can obtain the vectorial Amit-Roginski model by considering perturbations around a classical solution of the Boulatov model, a tensorial theory. We give sufficient conditions on the classical solution so that the effective action for the perturbation around this solution takes the form of the Amit-Roginski action.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce a notion of weight r pseudo-coherent Modules associated to a regular closed immersion i:Y -> X of codimension r, and prove that there is a canonical derived Morita equivalence between the DG-category of perfect complexes on a divisorial scheme X whose cohomological support are in Y and the DG-category of bounded complexes of weight r pseudo-coherent O_X-Modules supported on Y. The theorem implies that there is the canonical isomorphism between the Bass-Thomason-Trobaugh non-connected K-theory [TT90], [Sch06] (resp. the Keller-Weibel cyclic homology [Kel98], [Wei96]) for the immersion and the Schlichting non-connected K-theory [Sch04] associated to (resp. that of) the exact category of weight r pseudo-coherent Modules. For the connected K-theory case, this result is just Exercise 5.7 in [TT90]. As its application, we will decide on a generator of the topological filtration on the non-connected K-theory (resp. cyclic homology theory) for affine Cohen-Macaulay schemes.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider deformations of Lie 2-algebras via the cohomology theory. We prove that a 1-parameter infinitesimal deformation of a Lie 2-algebra g corresponds to a 2-cocycle of g with the coefficients in the adjoint representation. A Nijenhuis operator on a Lie 2-algebra is introduced to describe trivial deformations. Abstract:We define for every positive Anosov representation of a nonabelian free group into $\mathrm{SO}(2n,2n-1)$ a family of $\mathbb{R}^{4n-1}$-valued cocycles which induce proper affine actions on $\mathbb{R}^{4n-1}$. We construct fundamental domains in $\mathbb{R}^{4n-1}$ bounded by generalized crooked planes for these affine actions, and deduce that the quotient manifolds are homeomorphic to handlebodies.

Abstract:We prove a conjecture of Freed and Hopkins, which relates deformation classes of reflection positive, invertible, $d$-dimensional extended field theories with fixed symmetry type to a certain generalized cohomology of a Thom spectrum. Along the way, we establish several results, including the construction of a smooth variant of the Brown--Comenetz dual of the sphere spectrum and a calculation of the "deformation type" of the extended geometric bordism category.

Compactifications of the Eisenstein ancestral Deligne-Mostow variety

Abstract:All arithmetic non-compact ball quotients by Deligne-Mostow's unitary monodromy group arise as sub-ball quotients of either of two spaces called ancestral cases, corresponding to Gaussian or Eisenstein Hermitian forms respectively. In our previous paper, we investigated the compactifications of the Gaussian Deligne-Mostow variety. Here we work on the remaining case, namely the ring of Eisenstein integers, which is related to the moduli space of unordered 12 points on $\mathbb P^1$. In particular, we show that Kirwan's partial resolution of the moduli space is not a semi-toroidal compactification and Deligne-Mostow's period map does not lift to the unique toroidal compactification. We give two interpretations of these phenomena in terms of the log minimal model program and automorphic forms. As an application, we prove that the above two compactifications are not (stacky) derived equivalent, as the $DK$-conjecture predicts. Furthermore, we construct an automorphic form on the moduli space of non-hyperelliptic curves of genus 4, which is isogenous to the Eisenstein Deligne-Mostow variety, giving another intrinsic proof, independent of lattice embeddings, of a result by Casalaina-Martin, Jensen and Laza.
