Abstract:We prove the componentwise linearity of ideals that satisfy a certain exchange property similar to polymatroidal ideals. We also discuss the componentwise linearity and exchange properties of ideals of $k$-covers of totally balanced weighted hypergraphs.

Abstract:Abstract Let $S=K[x_1,\ldots ,x_n]$ be the polynomial ring over a field K , and let A be a finitely generated standard graded S -algebra. We show that if the defining ideal of A has a quadratic initial ideal, then all the graded components of A are componentwise linear. Applying this result to the Rees ring $\mathcal {R}(I)$ of a graded ideal I gives a criterion on I to have componentwise linear powers. Moreover, for any given graph G , a construction on G is presented which produces graphs whose cover ideals $I_G$ have componentwise linear powers. This, in particular, implies that for any Cohen–Macaulay Cameron–Walker graph G all powers of $I_G$ have linear resolutions. Moreover, forming a cone on special graphs like unmixed chordal graphs, path graphs, and Cohen–Macaulay bipartite graphs produces cover ideals with componentwise linear powers.

Abstract: When a monomial ideal has linear quotients with respect to an admissible order of increasing support-degree, we provide two proofs of different flavors to show that it is componentwise support-linear. We also introduce the variable decomposable monomial ideals. In squarefree case, these ideals correspond to the vertex decomposable simplicial complexes. We study the relationships of the variable decomposable ideals with weakly polymatroidal ideals, weakly stable ideals and ideals with linear quotients. We also investigate the componentwise properties of all these ideals.

Abstract:Using the recent results on square-free Gröbner degenerations by Conca and Varbaro, we proved that if a homogeneous ideal $I$ of a polynomial ring is such that its initial ideal $\mathrm{in}_<(I)$ is square-free and $\beta_0(I) = \beta_0(\mathrm{in}_<(I))$, then $I$ is a componentwise linear ideal if and only if $\mathrm{in}_<(I)$ is a componentwise linear ideal. In particular, if furthermore one of $I$ and $\mathrm{in}_<(I)$ is componentwise linear, then their graded Betti numbers coincide.

Powers of Edge Ideals with Linear Quotients

Abstract:We prove that the powers of an edge ideal with linear quotients must also have linear quotients by employing a novel, easily implementable ordering of the minimal generators. As a consequence, we give explicit formulas for the projective dimension and Betti numbers of the edge ideals of whisker graphs. We also prove that second and higher powers of the edge ideals of anticycles admit linear quotient orderings, thus resolving an open question of Hoefel and Whieldon in the affirmative.

Abstract:The goal of this paper is the fine structure of the ideals in the title, with emphasis on the properties of the associated Rees algebra and the special fiber. The watershed between the present approach and some of the previous work in the literature is that here one does not assume that the ideals in question satisfy the common generic properties. One exception is a recent work of N. P. H. Lan which inspired the present work. Here we recover and extend his work. We strongly focus on the behavior of the ideals of minors of the corresponding so-called Hilbert--Burch matrix and on conjugation features of the latter. We apply the results to three important models: linearly presented ideals of plane fat points, reciprocal ideals of hyperplane arrangements and linearly presented monomial ideals.

Abstract:We consider the polynomial ring in finitely many variables over an algebraically closed field of positive characteristic, and initiate the systematic study of ideals preserved by the action of the general linear group by changes of coordinates. We show that these ideals are classified by sets of carry patterns, which are finite sequences of integers introduced by Doty in the study of representation theory of the polynomial ring. We provide an algorithm to decompose an invariant ideal as a sum of carry ideals with no redundancies. Next, we study the conditions under which one carry ideal is contained in another, and completely characterize the image of the multiplication map between the space of linear forms and a subrepresentation of forms of degree d. Finally, we begin an investigation into free resolutions of these ideals. Our results are most explicit in the case of carry ideals in two variables, where we completely describe the monomial generators and syzygies using base-p expansions of the parameters involved, and we provide a formula for the structure of the Tor modules in the Grothendieck group of representations.

Abstract:Since bipolar quantum linear algebra (BQLA), under two operations–-addition and multiplication—demonstrates the properties of semirings, and since ideals play an important role in abstract algebra, our results are compelling for the ideals of a semiring. In this article, we investigate the characteristics of ideals, principal ideals, prime ideals, maximal ideals, and the smallest ideal containing any nonempty subset. By applying elementary real analysis, particularly the infimum, our main result is stated as follows: for any closed set I in BQLA, I is a nontrivial proper ideal if and only if there exists c∈(0,1] such that I=(−x,y)∈R2|cx≤y≤xcandx,y≥0. This shows that its shape has to be symmetric with the graph y=−x.

Abstract:We consider ideals in a polynomial ring generated by collections of power sum polynomials, and obtain conditions under which these define complete intersection rings, normal domains, and unique factorization domains. We also settle a key case of a conjecture of Conca, Krattenthaler, and Watanabe, and prove other results in that direction.

Abstract:In a recent work, Fouli and Lin generalized a Villarreal's result and showed that if each connected components of the line graph of a squarefree monomial ideal contains at most a unique odd cycle, then this ideal is of linear type. In this short note, we reprove this result with Villarreal's original ideas together with a method of Conca and De Negri. We also propose a class of squarefree monomial ideals of linear type.

Abstract:In this paper we study classes of monomial ideals for which all of its powers have a linear resolution. Let K[x_{1},x_{2}] be the polynomial ring in two variables over the field K, and let L be the generalized mixed product ideal induced by a monomial ideal I. It is shown that, if I\subset K[x_1,x_2] and the ideals substituting the monomials in I are Veronese type ideals, then L^{k} has a linear resolution for all k\geq 1. Furthermore, we compute some algebraic invariants of generalized mixed product ideals induced by a transversal polymatroidal ideal.

Abstract:We introduce and explore the concept of positive ideals for both linear and multilinear operators between Banach lattices. This paper delineates the fundamental principles of these new classes and provides techniques for constructing positive multi-ideals from given positive ideals. Furthermore, we present an example of a positive multi-ideal by introducing a new class, referred to as positive (p1,...,pm;r)-dominated multilinear operators. We establish a natural analogue of the Pietsch domination theorem and Kwapien's factorization theorem within this class.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the componentwise linearity of symbolic powers of edge ideals. We propose the conjecture that all symbolic powers of the edge ideal of a cochordal graph are componentwise linear. This conjecture is verified for some families of cochordal graphs, including complements of block graphs and complements of proper interval graphs. As a corollary, Minh's conjecture is established for such families. Moreover, we show that $I(G)^{(2)}$ is componentwise linear, for any cochordal graph $G$.

Abstract:We characterize $M$-ideals in order smooth $\infty$-normed spaces by extending the notion of split faces of the state space to those of the quasi-state space. We also characterize approximate order unit spaces as those order smooth $\infty$-normed spaces $V$ that are $M$-ideals in $\tilde{V}.$ Here $\tilde{V}$ is the order unit space obtained by adjoining an order unit to $V.$ To prove these results, we develop an order theoretic version of the "Alfsen-Efffros' cone decomposition theorem" for order smooth $1$-normed spaces. (As a quick application of this result, we sharpen a result on the extension of bounded positive linear functionals on subspaces of order smooth $\infty$-normed spaces.)

Abstract:We introduce a construction, called linearization, that associates to any monomial ideal $I$ an ideal $\mathrm{Lin}(I)$ in a larger polynomial ring. The main feature of this construction is that the new ideal $\mathrm{Lin}(I)$ has linear quotients. In particular, since $\mathrm{Lin}(I)$ is generated in a single degree, it follows that $\mathrm{Lin}(I)$ has a linear resolution. We investigate some properties of this construction, such as its interplay with classical operations on ideals, its Betti numbers, functoriality and combinatorial interpretations. We moreover introduce an auxiliary construction, called equification, that associates to any monomial ideal a new monomial ideal generated in a single degree, in a polynomial ring with one more variable. We study some of the homological and combinatorial properties of the equification, which can be seen as a monomial analogue of the well-known homogenization construction.

Abstract:Let be an inclusion of -algebras. We study the relationship between the regular ideals of B and regular ideals of A . We show that if is a regular -inclusion and there is a faithful invariant conditional expectation from A onto B , then there is an isomorphism between the lattice of regular ideals of A and invariant regular ideals of B . We study properties of inclusions preserved under quotients by regular ideals. This includes showing that if is a Cartan inclusion and J is a regular ideal in A , then is a Cartan subalgebra of A / J . We provide a description of regular ideals in the reduced crossed product of a C -algebra by a discrete group.

Abstract:It is well known that the edge ideal of a simple graph G has linear quotients if and only if is chordal. We investigate when the property of having linear quotients is inherited by homological shift ideals of an edge ideal. We will see that adding a cluster to the graph when has homological linear quotients results in a graph with the same property. In particular, has homological linear quotients when is a block graph. We also show that adding pinnacles to trees preserves the property of having homological linear quotients for the edge ideal of their complements. Furthermore, has homological linear quotients for every graph G such that is a -minimal chordal graph.

On Conjecture of Binomial Edge Ideals of Linear Type

Abstract:An ideal $I$ of a commutative ring $R$ is said to be of linear type when its Rees algebra and symmetric algebra exhibit isomorphism. In this paper, we investigate the conjecture put forth by Jayanthan, Kumar, and Sarkar (2021) that if $G$ is a tree or a unicyclic graph, then the binomial edge ideal of $G$ is of linear type. Our investigation validates this conjecture for trees. However, our study reveals that not all unicyclic graphs adhere to this conjecture.

On P-like ideals induced by disjoint families

Abstract:We consider a combinatorial property isolated in the field of ideal convergence, a P-property for two ideals on natural numbers. We show that among selected ideals induced by disjoint families, not all pairs satisfy P-property for two ideals. In many cases we specify the inducing partitions for which the corresponding ideals possess the property. Regarding selector ideals, a useful coloring-like necessary condition is provided.

Abstract:The primary objective of this paper is to study the problem concerning isomorphic embeddings of ideals of compact operators due to Arazy (see [5, Problem C] and [6, Problem (B)]), which is closely related to Pełczyński's problem of uniqueness of symmetric structure in such ideals. In particular, we show that for a wide class of symmetric sequence spaces E, if CF↪SE, then F=ℓ2 and E has a subspace isomorphic to ℓ2, where CX is the symmetric ideal of compact operators on the Hilbert space ℓ2 induced by a symmetric sequence space X and SX=(⊕n=1∞Mn)CX. This extends results due to Arazy [5], [6]. As a consequence, we contribute to the Arazy–Pełczyński problem on the uniqueness of symmetric structures [5], [6]. In particular, we can deal with the case when E has a subspace isomorphic to ℓ2 or c0, which was left untreated in [5], [6].
