Abstract:Let H and K be Hilbert spaces and let T, (T) over tilde = T + delta T be bounded operators from H into K. In this article, two facts related to the perturbation bounds are studied. The first one is to find the upper bound of parallel to(T) over tilde (+) - T+parallel to, which extends the results obtained by the second author and enriches the perturbation theory for the Moore-Penrose inverse. The other one is to develop explicit representations of projectors parallel to(T) over tilde(T) over tilde (+) - TT+parallel to and parallel to(T) over tilde (+)(T) over tilde - T+T parallel to . In addition, some spectral cases related to these results are analyzed.

Abstract:Let $A$ and $B$ be two densely defined unbounded closeable operators in a Hilbert space such that their unbounded operator products $AB$ and $BA$ are also densely defined. Then all four operators possess adjoints and we obtain new inclusion bounds for the operator product closures $\bar{A} \bar{B}$ and $\bar{AB}$ in terms of new relations among the operator adjoints. These in turn lead to sharpened understandings for when products of unbounded self-adjoint and unbounded normal operators are self-adjoint and normal. They also clarify certain operator-product issues for Dirac operators.

Abstract:We study the Moore–Penrose inverse of perturbations by a proper symmetrically-normed ideal of a closed range operator on a Hilbert space. We show that the notion of essential codimension of projections gives a characterization of subsets of such perturbations in which the Moore–Penrose inverse is continuous with respect to the metric induced by the operator ideal. These subsets are maximal satisfying the continuity property, and they carry the structure of real analytic Banach manifolds, which are acted upon transitively by the Banach–Lie group consisting of invertible operators associated with the ideal. This geometric construction allows us to prove that the Moore–Penrose inverse is indeed a real bianalytic map between infinite-dimensional manifolds. We use these results to study the polar decomposition of closed range operators from a similar geometric perspective. At this point we prove that operator monotone functions are real analytic in the norm of any proper symmetrically-normed ideal. Finally, we show that the maps defined by the operator modulus and the polar factor in the polar decomposition of closed range operators are real analytic fiber bundles.

Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the Hyers-Ulam stability of closable (unbounded) operators with several interesting examples. We also present results pertaining to the Hyers-Ulam stability of the sum and product of closable operators to have the Hyers-Ulam stability and the necessary and sufficient conditions of the Schur complement and the quadratic complement of $2 \times 2$ block matrix $\mathcal A$ in order to have the Hyers-Ulam stability.

Abstract:The aim of this work is to characterize linear maps of infinite-dimensional inner product spaces where the Moore-Penrose inverse exists. This MP inverse generalizes the well-known Moore-Penrose inverse of a matrix $A\in \text{Mat}_{n\times m} ({\mathbb C})$. Moreover, a method for the computation of the MP inverse of some endomorphisms on infinite-dimensional vector spaces is given. As an application, the least norm solution of an infinite linear system from the Moore-Penrose inverse offered is studied.

Additionally, we demonstrate the result $\gamma(T) \leq r(T)$, where $T$ is a bounded EP operator, and $\gamma(T) \text{ and } r(T)$ represent the reduced minimum modulus and the spectral radius of $T$, respectively.

Abstract:In this work it is proved that the Moore-Penrose inverse of the product of $n$-doubly commuting regular $C^*$-algebra elements obeys the so-called reverse order law. Conversely, conditions regarding the reverse order law of the Moore-Penrose inverse are given in order to characterize when $n$-regular elements doubly commute. Furthermore, applications of the main results of this article to normal $C^*$-algebra elements, to Hilbert space operators and to Calkin algebras will be considered.

Abstract:In this paper, we define the Moore-Penrose inverse of tensors with the Einstein product, and the explicit formulas of the Moore-Penrose inverse of some block tensors are obtained. The general solutions of some multilinear systems are given and we also give the minimum-norm least-square solution of some multilinear systems using the Moore-Penrose inverse of tensors.

Abstract:Based on the success of a well-known method for solving higher order linear differential equations, a study of two of the most important mathematical features of that method, viz. the null spaces and commutativity of the product of unbounded linear operators on a Hilbert space is carried out. A principle is proved describing solutions for the product of such operators in terms of the solutions for each of the factors when the null spaces of those factors satisfy a certain geometric relation to one another. Another geometric principle equating commutativity of a closed densely defined operator and a projection to stability of the range of the projection under the closed operator is proved.

A combinatorial approach to categorical Möbius inversion and pseudoinversion

Abstract:We use Cramer's formula for the inverse of a matrix and a combinatorial expression for the determinant in terms of paths of an associated digraph (which can be traced back to Coates) to give a combinatorial interpretation of Möbius inversion whenever it exists. Every Möbius coefficient is a quotient of two sums, each indexed by certain collections of paths in the digraph. Our result contains, as particular cases, previous theorems by Hall (for posets) and Leinster (for skeletal categories whose idempotents are identities). A byproduct is a novel expression for the magnitude of a metric space as sum over self-avoiding paths with finitely many terms. By means of Berg's formula, our main constructions can be extended to Moore-Penrose pseudoinverses, yielding an analogous combinatorial interpretation of Möbius pseudoinversion and, consequently, of the magnitude of an arbitrary finite category.

Abstract:By interpreting the well-known Brown–Halmos theorem for Toeplitz operators in terms of multipliers, we formulate a Brown–Halmos analogue for the product of generalized Toeplitz operators, defined as compressions of multiplication operators to closed subspaces of . We use this to define equivalences between two operators in that class by means of multipliers between the spaces where they act. Necessary and sufficient conditions for such an equivalence to be unitary or a similarity are established. The results are applied to Toeplitz and Hankel operators, truncated Toeplitz operators, and dual truncated Toeplitz operators.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with paired operators in the context of the Lebesgue Hilbert space on the unit circle and its subspace, the Hardy space. By considering when such operators commute, generalizations of the Brown--Halmos results for Toeplitz operators are derived. Further, the kernels of such operators are described, giving results on invariant and nearly-invariant subspaces, together with a generalization of Coburn's theorem on Toeplitz kernels.

Abstract:It is well known that norm upper bound $\Vert\bar{T}^{\dag}\Vert\leq\frac{\Vert T^{\dag}\Vert}{1-\Vert T^{\dag}\Vert\cdot\Vert\Delta(T)\Vert}$ plays a fundamental role in stable (resp., rank-preserving) perturbation analysis for Moore-Penrose inverses of Hilbert space operators (resp., matrices). In this paper, in the general setting of Hilbert $C^*$-module operators, we provide a new approach to the study of norm upper bounds of $\bar{T}^{\dag}$ and obtain a sharp estimation for $\Vert\bar{T}^{\dag}\Vert$. This obtained estimation is applied to the study of the linear least squares problem and of perturbation analysis for the Schur complement of a positive semidefinite operator matrix. Some new norm upper bounds for Schur complements of positive semidefinite operator matrices are derived.
