Abstract:Standard weak measurement with an assistant pointer and single weak interaction constrains measurement precision and quantity of interaction parameters, and a compelling characterization of quantum effect featuring weak-value amplification (WVA) remains elusive. Here, we theoretically and experimentally demonstrate an enhanced dual-pointer WVA scheme based on multiple weak interactions and variable spectrum sources. Developing triple weak interactions, momentum P pointer reaches an optimal time-difference precision of $3.34 \times {10^{-5}}$ as at 6 nm spectral width, and intensity I pointer achieves a displacement resolution of 148.8 fm within 400 kHz linewidth. A quantum effect associated with an anomalous weak value is revealed by an observable violation of a Leggett-Garg inequality. The I-pointer weak value is measured to be 1478 using multiple weak interactions and high signal-to-noise detection, achieving a two-order-of-magnitude WVA enhancement compared to standard weak measurement. Our work opens up a practical avenue for minuscule quantumness measurements in challenging environments.

What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is to improve the precision of time - difference measurement and the ability of multi - parameter non - invasive measurement. Specifically, the authors propose an enhanced dual - pointer weak - value amplification (WVA) scheme based on multiple weak interactions (MWI) and variable - spectrum sources to achieve ultra - precise time - difference measurement and displacement measurement. Through this method, they can not only significantly improve the measurement precision, but also reveal quantum effects related to abnormal weak values, such as the phenomenon of violating the Leggett - Garg inequality (LGI). ### Main contributions of the paper: 1. **Improving measurement precision**: By using multiple weak interactions and variable - spectrum sources, the paper shows that the momentum pointer (P - pointer) reaches a time - difference precision of 3.34×10^-5 attoseconds (as) under a spectral width of 6 nm, and the intensity pointer (I - pointer) achieves a displacement resolution of 148.8 femtometers (fm) within a line width of 400 kHz. 2. **Revealing quantum effects**: The paper reveals the quantum effects related to abnormal weak values in the system through the observed violation of the Leggett - Garg inequality. In particular, through multiple weak interactions and high - signal - to - noise - ratio detection, the measured weak value of the I - pointer reaches 1478, which is two orders of magnitude higher than that of the standard weak measurement. 3. **Dual - pointer WVA scheme**: The paper proposes a new dual - pointer WVA scheme, in which the momentum pointer and the intensity pointer show a direct and an inverse relationship with the spectral width respectively. This enables high - precision measurements to be achieved under incident light sources with different spectral widths. ### Method overview: - **Theoretical basis**: The paper elaborates on the theoretical framework of the dual - pointer WVA scheme, including the initialization of the system, the evolution process of multiple weak interactions, and post - selection operations. Through these steps, the pointer offset can be effectively amplified, thereby improving the measurement precision. - **Experimental verification**: The experimental part shows how to verify the effectiveness of this scheme through a practical optical system. This system utilizes a variable - spectrum noise source (VSNS) and a narrow - line - width coherent light source to achieve ultra - precise time - difference and displacement measurements through multiple weak interactions. - **Verification of quantum effects**: The violation of the Leggett - Garg inequality is verified through experiments, further confirming the quantum effects revealed in the scheme. ### Conclusion: The dual - pointer WVA scheme based on multiple weak interactions proposed in the paper not only technically achieves ultra - precise time - difference and displacement measurements, but also theoretically reveals the quantum effects related to abnormal weak values. This achievement provides new ideas and technical support for applications in fields such as precision metrology, quantum sensing, and quantum tomography.
