Abstract:We consider the Schrödinger equation with a general interaction term, which is localized in space, for radially symmetric initial data in $n$ dimensions, $n\geq5$. The interaction term may be space-time dependent and nonlinear. Assuming that the solution is bounded in $H^1(\mathbb{R}^n)$ uniformly in time, we prove soliton resolution conjecture (Asymptotic completeness) by demonstrating that the solution resolves into a smooth and localized part and a free radiation in $\mathcal{L}^2_x(\mathbb{R}^n)$ norm. Examples of such equations include inter-critical and super-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equations, saturated nonlinearities, time-dependent potentials, and combinations of these terms.

Abstract:Consider the energy-critical focusing wave equation in odd space dimension $N\geq 3$. The equation has a nonzero radial stationary solution $W$, which is unique up to scaling and sign change. In this paper we prove that any radial, bounded in the energy norm solution of the equation behaves asymptotically as a sum of modulated $W$s, decoupled by the scaling, and a radiation term. The proof essentially boils down to the fact that the equation does not have purely nonradiative multisoliton solutions. The proof overcomes the fundamental obstruction for the extension of the 3D case (treated in our previous work, Cambridge Journal of Mathematics 2013, <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="1204.0031" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/1204.0031">arXiv:1204.0031</a>) by reducing the study of a multisoliton solution to a finite dimensional system of ordinary differential equations on the modulation parameters. The key ingredient of the proof is to show that this system of equations creates some radiation, contradicting the existence of pure multisolitons.

Abstract:We consider energy-critical damped wave equation \begin{equation*} \partial_{tt}u-\Delta u+\alpha \partial_t u=\left|u\right|^{\frac{4}{D-2}}u \end{equation*} with radial initial data in dimensions $D\geq 4$. The equation has a nontrivial radial stationary solution $W$, called the ground state, which is unique up to sign and scale. We prove that any bounded energy norm solution behaves asymptotically as a superposition of the modulated ground states and a radiation term. In the global case, particularly, the solution converges to a pure multi-bubble due to the damping effect.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the soliton resolution conjecture for Type II singular solutions $\overrightarrow{u}(t)$ to the focusing energy critical wave equation in $R^d\times [0,T_+)$, with $3\leq d\leq 5$. Suppose that $u$ has a singularity at $(x,t)=(0,T_+)$, we show that along a sequence of times $t_n\uparrow T_+$ and in a neighborhood of $(0,T_+)$, $\overrightarrow{u}(t_n)$ can be decomposed as the sum of a regular part in the energy space, a finite combination of modulated solitons (translation, scaling and Lorentz transform of steady states) and a residue term which goes to zero in the Strichartz norm. In addition, the residue term is asymptotically radial and can concentrate energy only in a thin annulus near $|x|=T_+-t_n$. Our main tools include a Morawetz estimate, similar to the one used for wave maps, and the use of a virial identity to eliminate dispersive energy in $|x|<\lambda (T_+ -t_n)$ for any $\lambda\in (0,1)$.

Abstract:We consider soliton resolution for the Calogero--Moser derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation (CM-DNLS). A rigorous PDE analysis of (CM-DNLS) was recently initiated by Gérard and Lenzmann, who demonstrated its Lax pair structure. Additionally, (CM-DNLS) exhibits several symmetries, such as mass-criticality with pseudo-conformal symmetry and a self-dual Hamiltonian. Despite its integrability, finite-time blow-up solutions have been constructed. The purpose of this paper is to establish soliton resolution for both finite-time blow-up solutions and global solutions in a fully general setting, \emph{without imposing radial symmetry or size constraints}. To our knowledge, this is the first non-integrable proof of full soliton resolution for Schrödinger-type equations. A key aspect of our proof is the control of the energy of the outer radiation after extracting a soliton, referred to as the \emph{energy bubbling} estimate. This benefits from two levels of convervation laws, mass and energy, and self-duality. This approach allows us to directly prove continuous-in-time soliton resolution, bypassing time-sequential soliton resolution. Importantly, our proof does not rely on the integrability of the equation, potentially offering insights applicable to other non-integrable models.

Soliton resolution for equivariant self-dual Chern-Simons-Schrödinger equation in weighted Sobolev class

Abstract:We consider the self-dual Chern-Simons-Schrödinger equation (CSS) under equivariant symmetry, which is a $L^{2}$-critical equation. It is known that (CSS) admits solitons and finite-time blow-up solutions. In this paper, we show soliton resolution for any solutions with equivariant data in the weighted Sobolev space $H^{1,1}$: every maximal solution decomposes into at most one modulated soliton and a radiation. A striking fact is that the nonscattering part must be a single modulated soliton. To our knowledge, this is the first result on soliton resolution in a class of nonlinear Schrödinger equations which are not known to be completely integrable. The key ingredient is the defocusing nature of the equation in the exterior of a soliton profile. This is a consequence of two distinctive features of (CSS): self-duality and non-local nonlinearity.

On the set of non radiative solutions for the energy critical wave equation

Abstract:Non radiative solutions of the energy critical non linear wave equation are global solutions $u$ that furthermore have vanishing asymptotic energy outside the lightcone at both $t \to \pm \infty$: \[ \lim_{t \to \pm \infty} \| \nabla_{t,x} u(t) \|_{L^2(|x| \ge |t|+R)} = 0, \] for some $R \gt 0$. They were shown to play an important role in the analysis of long time dynamics of solutions, in particular regarding the soliton resolution: we refer to the seminal works of Duyckaerts, Kenig and Merle, see \cite{DKM:23} and the references therein. We show that the set of non radiative solutions which are small in the energy space is a manifold whose tangent space at $0$ is given by non radiative solutions to the linear equation (described in \cite{CL24}). We also construct nonlinear solutions with an arbitrary prescribed radiation field.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the soliton resolution and large time behavior of solutions to the Cauchy problem for the Novikov equation with a nonzero backgroundut−utxx+4ux=3uuxuxx+u2uxxx,u(x,0)=u0(x), where u0(x)→κ>0,x→±∞ and u0(x)−κ is assumed in the Schwarz space. It is shown that the solution of the Cauchy problem can be characterized via a Riemann-Hilbert problem in a new scale (y,t) withy=x−∫x∞((u−uxx+1)2/3−1)ds. According to the distribution of other four phase points on the jump contour, we divide the upper half-plane {(y,t):y∈R,t>0} into four space-time regions: ξ=y/t∈(−∞,−1/8)∪(1,+∞) and ξ∈(−1/8,0)∪(0,1). Via ∂‾-steepest descent analysis, we obtain the different long time asymptotic expansions of the solution u(y,t) in these different space-time solitonic regions. The corresponding residual error functions from singularities and a ∂‾-equation respectively. Our result implies that soliton resolution can be characterized with an N(Λ)-soliton whose parameters are modulated by a sum of localized soliton-soliton interactions as one moves through the regions.

Abstract:The soliton resolution for the Harry Dym equation is established for initial conditions in weighted Sobolev space $H^{1,1}(\mathbb{R})$. Combining the nonlinear steepest descent method and $\bar{\partial}$-derivatives condition, we obtain that when $\frac{y}{t}<-\epsilon(\epsilon>0)$ the long time asymptotic expansion of the solution $q(x,t)$ in any fixed cone \begin{equation} C\left(y_{1}, y_{2}, v_{1}, v_{2}\right)=\left\{(y, t) \in R^{2} \mid y=y_{0}+v t, y_{0} \in\left[y_{1}, y_{2}\right], v \in\left[v_{1}, v_{2}\right]\right\} \end{equation} up to an residual error of order $\mathcal{O}(t^{-1})$. The expansion shows the long time asymptotic behavior can be described as an $N(I)$-soliton on discrete spectrum whose parameters are modulated by a sum of localized soliton-soliton interactions as one moves through the cone and the second term coming from soliton-radiation interactionson on continuous spectrum.

Abstract:We consider the Cauchy problem for the defocusing modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation with finite density type initial data. With the $\bar{\partial}$ generalization of the nonlinear steepest descent method of Deift and Zhou, we extrapolate the leading order approximation to the solution of mKdV for large time in the solitonic space-time region $|x/t+4|<2$, and we give bounds for the error which decay as $t\rightarrow\infty$ for a general class of initial data whose difference from the non-vanishing background possesses a fixed number of finite moments. Our results provide a verification of the soliton resolution conjecture and asymptotic stability of $N$-soliton solutions for mKdV equation with finite density type initial data.

In this manuscript, we study the soliton resolution and large time behavior of solutions to the Cauchy problem of the DP equation with generic initial data in Schwarz space. Employing the ∂̅-generalization of the Deift-Zhou nonlinear steepest descent method, we deduce different long time asymptotic expansions of the solution u(x,t) in two distinct types of space-time regions. This result verifies the soliton resolution conjecture and asymptotic stability of N-soliton solutions for the DP equation.
The soliton resolution conjecture for the Boussinesq equation

Abstract:We analyze the Boussinesq equation on the line with Schwartz initial data belonging to the physically relevant class of global solutions. In a recent paper, we determined ten main asymptotic sectors describing the large $(x,t)$-behavior of the solution, and for each of these sectors we provided the leading order asymptotics in the case when no solitons are present. In this paper, we give a formula valid in the asymptotic sector $x/t \in (1,M]$, where $M$ is a large positive constant, in the case when solitons are present. Combined with earlier results, this validates the soliton resolution conjecture for the Boussinesq equation everywhere in the $(x,t)$-plane except in a number of small transition zones.

Abstract:We prove exterior energy lower bounds for (nonradial) solutions to the energy-critical nonlinear wave equation in space dimensions 3 <= d <= 5, with compactly supported initial data. In particular, it is shown that nontrivial global solutions with compact spatial support must be radiative in a sharp sense. In space dimensions 3 and 4, a nontrivial soliton background is also considered. As an application, we obtain partial results on the rigidity conjecture concerning solutions with the compactness property, including a new proof for the global existence of such solutions. Abstract:For the (1 + 2)-dimensional AKNS system of lower order, a linear system which separates variables is constructed. It is found out that any nonlinear equation generated by such a linear hyperbolic su(N) system admits solutions which tend to zero in all directions in the space. The solutions given by nth Darboux transformation split up into more than n solitons as t --> infinity. The application to the Davey-Stewartson I equation is considered.

Abstract:We prove the existence of radial self-similar singular solutions for the mass supercritical Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation far from the critical regime and, more generally, branches of such solutions for the Complex Ginzburg-Landau Equation. We are also able to control their monotone index (number of monotone intervals). In particular, we prove the existence of monotone radial self-similar singular solutions for the cubic Nonlinear Schrödinger Equation. The paper combines sharp analytic bounds of the solutions at infinity with computer assisted bounds for the solutions around zero and their matching at an intermediate value.

On the near soliton dynamics for the 2D cubic Zakharov-Kuznetsov equations

Abstract:In this article, we consider the Cauchy problem for the cubic (mass-critical) Zakharov-Kuznetsov equations in dimension two: $$\partial_t u+\partial_{x_1}(\Delta u+u^3)=0,\quad (t,x)\in [0,\infty)\times \mathbb{R}^{2}.$$ For initial data in $H^1$ close to the soliton with a suitable space-decay property, we fully describe the asymptotic behavior of the corresponding solution. More precisely, for such initial data, we show that only three possible behaviors can occur: 1) The solution leaves a tube near soliton in finite time; 2) the solution blows up in finite time; 3) the solution is global and locally converges to a soliton. In addition, we show that for initial data near a soliton with non-positive energy and above the threshold mass, the corresponding solution will blow up as described in Case 2. Our proof is inspired by the techniques developed for mass-critical generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation (gKdV) equation in a similar context by Martel-Merle-Raphaël. More precisely, our proof relies on refined modulation estimates and a modified energy-virial Lyapunov functional. The primary challenge in our problem is the lack of coercivity of the Schrödinger operator which appears in the virial-type estimate. To overcome the difficulty, we apply a transform, which was first introduced in Kenig-Martel [13], to perform the virial computations after converting the original problem to the adjoint one. Th coercivity of the Schrödinger operator in the adjoint problem has been numerically verified by Farah-Holmer-Roudenko-Yang [9].

Abstract:In this work, the general solutions of the nonlocal long-wave-short-wave resonance interaction (LSRI) equation with nonzero boundary conditions are investigated by using the Hirota’s bilinear method and Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchy reduction method. We discussed the cases where N is odd and even, which have a significant impact on the background wave. When N is odd, the solutions are located in the periodic background, while it is on the constant background when N is even. Different forms of solutions are discussed in detail, including the general soliton, line breather and (semi-)rational solutions. For these solutions of the nonlocal LSRI equation, we have obtained a variety of rich and interesting images are obtained through theoretical and graphical analysis, and most of them cannot correspond to the local equation.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the spectral theory of soliton condensates - a special limit of soliton gases - for the focusing NLS (fNLS). In particular, we analyze the kinetic equation for the fNLS circular condensate, which represents the first example of an explicitly solvable fNLS condensate with nontrivial large scale space-time dynamics. Solution of the kinetic equation was obtained by reducing it to Whitham type equations for the endpoints of spectral arcs. We also study the rarefaction and dispersive shock waves for circular condensates, as well as calculate the corresponding average conserved quantities and the kurtosis. We want to note that one of the main objects of the spectral theory - the nonlinear dispersion relations - is introduced in the paper as some special large genus (thermodynamic) limit the Riemann bilinear identities that involve the quasimomentum and the quasienergy meromorphic differentials.
