Abstract:In this note, we prove pointwise decay in time of solutions to the 3D energy-critical nonlinear Schrödinger equations assuming data in L1∩H3. The main ingredients are the boundness of the Schrödinger propagators in Hardy space due to Miyachi [9] and a fractional Leibniz rule in the Hardy space. We also extend the fractional chain rule to the Hardy space.

Abstract:We consider the initial value problem for a three-component system of quadratic nonlinear Schrodinger equations with mass resonance in two space dimensions. Under a suitable condition on the coefficients of the nonlinearity, we will show that the solution decays strictly faster than O(t(-1)) as t -> +infinity in L-infinity by providing an enhanced decay estimate of order O((t log t)(-1)). Differently from the previous works, our approach does not rely on the explicit form of the asymptotic profile of the solution at all.

Abstract:SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, Volume 56, Issue 3, Page 3082-3109, June 2024. In this paper we discuss quantitative (pointwise) decay estimates for solutions to the 3D cubic defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation with various (deterministic and random) initial data. We show that nonlinear solutions enjoy the same decay rate as the linear ones. The regularity assumption on the initial data is much lower than in previous results (see [C. Fan and Z. Zhao, Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst., 41 (2021), pp. 3973–3984] and the references therein), and, moreover, we quantify the decay, which is another novelty of this work. Furthermore, we show that the (physical) randomization of the initial data can be used to replace the [math]-data assumption (see [C. Fan and Z. Zhao, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc., 151 (2023), pp. 2527–2542] for the necessity of the [math]-data assumption).

Abstract:In this short paper, we prove that the solution of the cubic fourth-order Schrödinger equation (4NLS) on R d \mathbb {R}^d ( 5 ≤ d ≤ 8 5 \leq d \leq 8 ) enjoys the same decay property as its linear solution does. This result is proved via a bootstrap argument based on the corresponding global result by Pausader [J. Funct. Anal. 256 (2009), pp. 2473–2517]. This result can be extended to more general dispersive equations (including some more 4NLS models) with scattering asymptotics.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a proof of dispersive decay for both linear and nonlinear magnetic Schrödinger equations. To achieve this, we introduce the fractional distorted Fourier transforms with magnetic potentials and define the fractional differential operator $\arrowvert J_{A}(t)\arrowvert^{s}$. By leveraging the properties of the distorted Fourier transforms and the Strichartz estimates of $\arrowvert J_{A}\arrowvert^{s}u$, we establish the dispersive bounds with the decay rate $t^{-\frac{n}{2}}$. This decay rate provides valuable insights into the spreading properties and long-term dynamics of the solutions to the magnetic Schrödinger equations.

Abstract: The topic of this paper is a semi-linear, energy sub-critical, defocusing wave equation $\partial_t^2 u - \Delta u = - |u|^{p -1} u$ in the 3-dimensional space ($3\leq p<5$) whose initial data are radial and come with a finite energy. In this work we prove scattering in the positive time direction by only assuming the inward part of the energy decays at a certain rate, as long as the total energy is finite, regardless of the decay rate or size of the outward energy. More precisely, we assume the initial data comes with a finite energy and \[ \int_{{\mathbb R}^3} \max\{1,|x|^\kappa\}\ (\ |\nabla u_0(x)\cdot \frac{x}{|x|} + \frac{u_0(x)}{|x|} + u_1(x)\ |^2 + \frac{2}{p+1}|u_0(x)|^{p+1}\ ) dx < \infty. \] Here $\kappa\geq \kappa_0(p) = \frac{5-p}{p+1}$ is a constant. If $\kappa>\kappa_0(p)$, we can also prove $\|u\|_{L^p L^{2p}}({\mathbb R}^+ \times {\mathbb R}^3)< +\infty$ and give an explicit rate of $u$'s convergence to a free wave.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove the decay and scattering in the energy space for nonlinear Schrodinger equations with regular potentials in R-d namely, i partial derivative(t)u + Delta u-V(x)u + lambda vertical bar u vertical bar(p-1) u=0. We will prove decay estimate and scattering of the solution in the small data case when 1 + 2/d < p <= 1 + 4/d-2, d >= 3. The index 1 + 2/d is sharp for scattering concerning the result of Strauss [22]. This result generalizes the one-dimensional work of Cuccagna et al. [4] to all d >= 3.

Abstract:We investigate the decay estimates of global solutions for a class of one-dimensional inhomogeneous nonlinear Schrödinger equations. While most existing results focus on spatial dimensions $d\geq2$, the decay properties in one dimension remain less explored due to the absence of effective Morawetz inequalities. For equations without external potential, by establishing a localized Virial-Morawetz identity, we derive decay estimates in the context of the $L^r$-norm for global solutions within a compact domain as a time subsequence approaches infinity. This decay result can be applied to obtain a criterion for energy scattering. Additionally, by establishing another type of Virial-Morawetz identity under more strict conditions, we demonstrate the decay result for odd solutions for any time sequence that approaches infinity. Utilizing some results about bound states proved by Barry Simon, we also show that similar decay results hold for the global odd solutions of equations with suitable external potentials that contain inverse power type and Yukawa-type potentials.

Abstract:Energy decay is established for the damped wave equation on compact Riemannian manifolds where the damping coefficient is allowed to depend on time. Using a time dependent observability inequality, it is shown that the energy of solutions decays at an exponential rate if the damping coefficient satisfies a time dependent analogue of the classical geometric control condition. Existing time dependent observability inequalities are improved by removing technical assumptions on the permitted initial data.

Abstract:We consider a dispersive equation of Schr{ö}dinger type with a non-linearity slightly larger than cubic by a logarithmic factor. This equation is supposed to be an effective model for stable two dimensional quantum droplets with LHY correction. Mathematically, it is seen to be mass supercritical and energy subcritical with a sign-indefinite nonlinearity. For the corresponding initial value problem, we prove global in-time existence of strong solutions in the energy space. Furthermore, we prove the existence and uniqueness (up to symmetries) of nonlinear ground states and the orbital stability of the set of energy minimizers. We also show that for the corresponding model in 1D a stronger stability result is available.

Abstract:In this note, we show the existence of a special solution u to defocusing cubic NLS in 3d, which lives in H^s for all s>0, but scatters to a linear solution in a very slow way. We prove for this u, for all ϵ>0, one has sup_t>0t^ϵu(t)-e^itΔu^+_Ḣ^1/2=∞. Note that such a slow asymptotic convergence is impossible if one further pose the initial data of u(0) be in L^1. We expect that similar construction hold the for other NLS models. It can been seen the slow convergence is caused by the fact that there are delayed backward scattering profile in the initial data, we also illustrate why L^1 condition of initial data will get rid of this phenomena.
