Abstract:We prove that the Gromov–Hausdorff limit of Kähler–Ricci flow on a G -spherical Fano manifold X is a G -spherical ℚ -Fano variety X_∞ , which admits a (singular) Kähler–Ricci soliton. Moreover, the G -spherical variety structure of X_∞ can be constructed as a center of torus ℂ^* -degeneration of X induced by an element in the Lie algebra of Cartan torus of G .

Abstract:We consider the Kähler-Ricci flow on compact Kähler manifolds with semiample canonical bundle and intermediate Kodaira dimension, and show that the flow collapses to a canonical metric on the base of the Iitaka fibration in the locally smooth topology and with bounded Ricci curvature away from the singular fibers. This follows from an asymptotic expansion for the evolving metrics, in the spirit of recent work of the first and third-named authors on collapsing Calabi-Yau metrics, and proves two conjectures of Song and Tian.

Abstract:We establish the scalar curvature and distance bounds, extending Perelman's work on the Fano Kähler-Ricci flow to general finite time solutions of the Kähler-Ricci flow. These bounds are achieved by our Li-Yau type and Harnack estimates for weighted Ricci potential functions of the Kähler-Ricci flow. We further prove that the Type I blow-ups of the finite time solution always sub-converge in Gromov-Hausdorff sense to an ancient solution on a family of analytic normal varieties with suitable choices of base points. As a consequence, the Type I diameter bound is proved for almost every fibre of collapsing solutions of the Kähler-Ricci flow on a Fano fibre bundle. We also apply our estimates to show that every solution of the Kähler-Ricci flow with Calabi symmetry must develop Type I singularities, including both cases of high codimensional contractions and fibre collapsing.

Abstract:We introduce a flow of Kähler structures over Fano manifolds with formal limit at infinite time a Kähler-Ricci soliton. This flow correspond to a Perelman's modified backward Kähler-Ricci type flow that we call Soliton-Kähler-Ricci flow. It can be generated by the Soliton-Ricci flow. We assume that the Soliton-Ricci flow exists for all times and the Bakry-Emery-Ricci tensor preserve a positive uniform lower bound with respect to the evolving metric. In this case we show that the corresponding Soliton-Kähler-Ricci flow converges exponentially fast to a Kähler-Ricci soliton.

Abstract:In this paper, I give a brief tour on a program of studying the Kahler-Ricci flow with surgery and its interaction with the classification of projective manifolds. The Kahler-Ricci flow may develops singularity at finite time. It is important to understand how to extend the Kahler-Ricci flow across the singular time, that is, construct solution of the Kahler-Ricci flow with surgery. The first task of this paper is to describe a procedure of constructing global solutions for the Kahler-Ricci flow with surgery. This procedure is rather canonical. I will discuss properties of such solutions with surgery and their geometric implications. I will also discuss their asymptotic limits at time infinity. The results discussed here were mainly from my joint works with Z. Zhang, J. Song et al. Some open problems will be also discussed. The paper is mostly expository.

Abstract:In this paper, we first show an interpretation of the Kähler-Ricci flow ona manifold X as an exact elliptic equation of Einstein type on a manifold Mof which X is one of the (Kähler) symplectic reductions via a (non-trivial)torus action. There are plenty of such manifolds (e.g. any line bundle on Xwill do). Such an equation is called V-soliton equation, which can beregarded as a generalization of Kähler-Einstein equations or Kähler-Riccisolitons. As in the case of Kähler-Einstein metrics, we can also reduce theV-soliton equation to a scalar equation on Kähler potentials, which is ofMonge-Ampere type. We then prove some preliminary results towards establishingexistence of solutions for such a scalar equation on a compact Kählermanifold M. One of our motivations is to apply the interpretation to studyingfinite time singularities of the Kähler-Ricci flow.

Abstract:We prove the existence of Kahler-Einstein metric on a K-stable Fano manifold using the recent compactness result on Kahler-Ricci flows. The key ingredient is an algebro-geometric description of the asymptotic behavior of Kahler-Ricci flow on Fano manifolds. This is in turn based on a general finite dimensional discussion, which is interesting in its own and could potentially apply to other problems. As one application, we relate the asymptotics of the Calabi flow on a polarized Kahler manifold to K-stability assuming bounds on geometry.

Abstract:This is an expository paper dedicated to professor L. Nirenberg for his 85th birthday. First I will discuss my joint works with Z. Zhang and J. Song on the singularity formation of Kahler-Ricci flow. Secondly, I will show a fully nonlinear equation, scalar V-soliton equation (cf. Section 4, (14)), and some basic results about it. This equation was introduced by G. La Nave and myself in studying the singularity formation of Kahler-Ricci flow. I will also show how this new equation can be applied to studying the singularity formation at finite time.

We also show that the weak Kähler–Ricci flow can be uniquely continued through divisorial contractions and flips if they exist. Abstract:Ancient solutions arise in the study of Ricci flow singularities. Motivatedby the work of Fateev on 3-dimensional ancient solutions we construct highdimensional ancient solutions to Ricci flow on spheres and complex projectivespaces as well as the twistor spaces over a compact quaternion-Kahler manifold.Differing from Fateev's examples most of our examples are non-collapsed. Theconstruction of this paper, different from the ad hoc anastz of Fateev, issystematic, generalizing (as well as unifying) the previous constructions ofEinstein metrics by Bourguignon-Karcher, Jensen, and Ziller in the sense thatthe existence problem to a backward nonlinear parabolic PDE is reduced to thestudy of nonlinear ODE systems. The key step of solving the reduced nonlinearODE system is to find suitable monotonic and conserved quantities under Ricciflow with symmetry. Besides supplying new possible singularity models for Ricciflow on spheres and projective spaces, our solutions are counter-examples tosome folklore conjectures on ancient solutions of Ricci flow on compactmanifolds. As a by-product, we infer that some nonstandard Einstein metrics onspheres and complex projective spaces are unstable fixed points of the Ricciflow.

Abstract: In our previous paper math.DG/0010008, we develop some new techniques in attacking the convergence problems for the K\"ahler Ricci flow. The one of main ideas is to find a set of new functionals on curvature tensors such that the Ricci flow is the gradient like flow of these functionals. We successfully find such functionals in case of Kaehler manifolds. On K\"ahler-Einstein manifold with positive scalar curvature, if the initial metric has positive bisectional curvature, we prove that these functionals have a uniform lower bound, via the effective use of Tian's inequality. Consequently, we prove the following theorem: Let $M$ be a K\"ahler-Einstein manifold with positive scalar curvature. If the initial metric has nonnegative bisectional curvature and positive at least at one point, then the K\"ahler Ricci flow will converge exponentially fast to a K\"ahler-Einstein metric with constant bisectional curvature. Such a result holds for K\"ahler-Einstein orbifolds.

Abstract:We consider the Kähler-Ricci flow $(X, \omega(t))_{t \in [0,T)}$ on a compact manifold where the time of singularity, $T$, is finite. We assume the existence of a holomorphic map from the Kähler manifold $X$ to some analytic variety $Y$ which admits a Kähler metric on a neighbourhood of the image of $X$ and that the pullback of this metric yields the limiting cohomology class along the flow. This is satisfied, for instance, by the assumption that the initial cohomology class is rational, i.e., $[\omega_0] \in H^{1,1}(X,\mathbb{Q})$. Under these assumptions we prove an $L^4$-like estimate on the behaviour of the Ricci curvature and that the Riemannian curvature is Type $I$ in the $L^2$-sense.

Abstract:The existence of Kähler-Einstein metrics on a compact Kähler manifold hasbeen the subject of intensive study over the last few decades, following Yau'ssolution to Calabi's conjecture. The Ricci flow, introduced by Richard Hamiltonhas become one of the most powerful tools in geometric analysis. We study the Kähler-Ricci flow on minimal surfaces of Kodaira dimension oneand show that the flow collapses and converges to a unique canonical metric onits canonical model. Such a canonical is a generalized Kähler-Einsteinmetric. Combining the results of Cao, Tsuji, Tian and Zhang, we give a metricclassification for Käher surfaces with a numerical effective canonical linebundle by the Kähler-Ricci flow. In general, we propose a program of findingcanonical metrics on canonical models of projective varieties of positiveKodaira dimension.
