Abstract:In this paper, we study asymptotic behavior of positive ground state solutions for the nonlinear Choquard equation: \begin{equation}\label{0.1} -\Delta u+\varepsilon u=\big(I_{\alpha}\ast F(u)\big)F'(u),\quad u\in H^1(\mathbb R^N), \end{equation} where $F(u)=|u|^{\frac{N+\alpha}{N-2}}+G(u)$, $N\geq3$ is an integer, $I_{\alpha}$ is the Riesz potential of order $\alpha\in(0,N)$, and $\varepsilon>0$ is a parameter. Under some mild subcritical growth assumptions on $G(u)$, we show that as $\varepsilon \to \infty$, the ground state solutions of \eqref{0.1}, after a suitable rescaling, converge to a particular solution of the critical Choquard equation $-\Delta u=\frac{N+\alpha}{N-2}(I_{\alpha}*|u|^{\frac{N+\alpha}{N-2}})|u|^{\frac{N+\alpha}{N-2}-2}u$. We establish a novel sharp asymptotic characterisation of such a rescaling, which depends in a non-trivial way on the asymptotic behavior of $G(u)$ at infinity and the space dimension $N=3$, $N=4$ or $N\geq5$.

Abstract:In this paper, we focus on the existence of solutions for the Choquard equation $$\begin{aligned} \textstyle\begin{cases} {-}\Delta {u}+V(x)u=(I_{\alpha }* \vert u \vert ^{\frac{\alpha }{N}+1}) \vert u \vert ^{ \frac{\alpha }{N}-1}u+\lambda \vert u \vert ^{p-2}u,\quad x\in \mathbb{R}^{N}; \\ u\in H^{1}(\mathbb{R}^{N}), \end{cases}\displaystyle \end{aligned}$$ where $\lambda >0$ is a parameter, $\alpha \in (0,N)$ , $N\ge 3$ , $I_{\alpha }: \mathbb{R}^{N}\to \mathbb{R}$ is the Riesz potential. As usual, $\alpha /N+1$ is the lower critical exponent in the Hardy–Littlewood–Sobolev inequality. Under some weak assumptions, by using minimax methods and Pohožaev identity, we prove that this problem admits a ground state solution if $\lambda >\lambda _{*}$ for some given number $\lambda _{*}$ in three cases: (i) $2< p<\frac{4}{N}+2$ , (ii) $p=\frac{4}{N}+2$ , and (iii) $\frac{4}{N}+2< p<2^{*}$ . Our result improves the previous related ones in the literature.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the nonlinear Choquard equation \begin{document}$ \begin{equation*} - \Delta u + V(x)u = \left( {\sum\limits_{y \ne x \atop y \in { \mathbb {Z} ^{N}} } {\frac{|u(y)|^p}{|x-y|^{N-\alpha}}} }\right )|u|^{p-2}u \end{equation*} $\end{document} on lattice graph $ \mathbb {Z}^{N} $. Under some suitable assumptions, we prove the existence of a ground state solution of the equation on the graph when the function $ V $ is periodic or confining. Moreover, when the potential function $ V(x) = \lambda a(x)+1 $ is confining, we obtain the asymptotic properties of the solution $ u_\lambda $ which converges to a solution of a corresponding Dirichlet problem as $ \lambda\rightarrow \infty $.

Abstract:We study asymptotic behavior of positive ground state solutions of the nonlinear Kirchhoff equation − ( a + b ∫ R N | ∇ u | 2 ) Δ u + λ u = u q − 1 + u p − 1 in R N , ( P λ ) as λ → 0 and λ → + ∞ , where N = 3 or N = 4 , 2 < q ≤ p ≤ 2 ∗ , 2 ∗ = 2 N N − 2 is the Sobolev critical exponent, a > 0 , b ≥ 0 are constants and λ > 0 is a parameter. In particular, we prove that in the case 2 < q < p = 2 ∗ , as λ → 0 , after a suitable rescaling the ground state solutions of ( P λ ) converge to the unique positive solution of the equation − Δ u + u = u q − 1 and as λ → + ∞ , after another rescaling the ground state solutions of ( P λ ) converge to a particular solution of the critical Emden–Fowler equation − Δ u = u 2 ∗ − 1 . We establish a sharp asymptotic characterization of such rescalings, which depends in a non-trivial way on the space dimension N = 3 and N = 4 . We also discuss a connection of our results with a mass constrained problem associated to ( P λ ) with normalization constraint ∫ R N | u | 2 = c 2 . As a consequence of the main results, we obtain the existence, non-existence and asymptotic behavior of positive normalized solutions of such a problem. In particular, we obtain the exact number and their precise asymptotic expressions of normalized solutions if c > 0 is sufficiently large or sufficiently small. Our results also show that in the space dimension N = 3 , there is a striking difference between the cases b = 0 and b ≠ 0 . More precisely, if b ≠ 0 , then both p 0 ≔ 10 / 3 and p b ≔ 14 / 3 play a role in the existence, non-existence, the exact number and asymptotic behavior of the normalized solutions of the mass constrained problem, which is completely different from those for the corresponding nonlinear Schrödinger equation and which reveals the special influence of the nonlocal term.

Under some $$L^2$$ -subcritical, $$L^2$$ -critical and $$L^2$$ -supercritical perturbation $$\mu |u|^{q-2}u$$ , respectively, we prove several existence and non-existence results. The qualitative behavior of the ground states as $$\mu \rightarrow 0^+$$ is also studied. The mathematical analysis carried out in this paper can be considered as a counterpart of the Brezis-Nirenberg problem in the context of normalized solutions for fractional Choquard equation. In this framework, several related results are extended and improved."

Abstract:We consider a $p$-fractional Choquard-type equation \[ (-\Delta)_p^s u+a|u|^{p-2}u=b(K\ast F(u))F'(u)+\varepsilon_g |u|^{p_g-2}u \quad\text{in $\mathbb{R}^N$}, \] where $0<s<1<p<p_g\leq p_s^*$, $N \geq \max\{2ps+\alpha,p^2 s\}$, $a,b,\varepsilon_g\in (0,\infty)$, $K(x)= |x|^{-(N-\alpha)}$, $\alpha\in (0,N)$, and $F$ is a doubly critical nonlinearity in the sense of the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. It is noteworthy that the local nonlinearity may also have critical growth. Combining Brezis-Nirenberg's method with some new ideas, we obtain the ground state solutions via the mountain pass lemma and a generalized Lions-type theorem.

Abstract:We consider the generalized Choquard equation of the type for , with where the operator I is the classical Riesz potential defined by and the exponent is energy subcritical. We consider Weinstein-type functional restricted to rays passing through the ground state. The corresponding real valued function of the path parameter has an appropriate analytic extension. We use the properties of this analytic extension in order to show local uniqueness of ground state solutions. The uniqueness of the ground state solutions for the case , i.e. for the case of Hartree–Choquard, is well known. The main difficulty for the case is connected with a possible lack of control on the norm of the ground states as well on the lack of Sturm's comparison argument.

Abstract:In this paper, we explore the positive solutions of the following nonlinear Choquard equation involving the green kernel of the fractional operator $(-\Delta_{\mathbb{B}^N})^{-\alpha/2}$ in the hyperbolic space \begin{equation} \begin{aligned} -\Delta_{\mathbb{B}^{N}} u \, - \, \lambda u \, &= \left[(- \Delta_{\mathbb{B}^{N}})^{-\frac{\alpha}{2}}|u|^p\right]|u|^{p-2}u, \end{aligned} \end{equation} where $\Delta_{\mathbb{B}^{N}}$ denotes the Laplace-Beltrami operator on $\mathbb{B}^{N}$, $\lambda \leq \frac{(N-1)^2}{4}$, $1 < p < 2^*_{\alpha} = \frac{N+\alpha}{N-2}$, $0 < \alpha < N$, $N \geq 3$, $2^*_\alpha$ is the critical exponent in the context of the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. This study is analogous to the Choquard equation in the Euclidean space, which involves the non-local Riesz potential operator. We consider the functional setting within the Sobolev space $H^1(\mathbb{B}^N)$, employing advanced harmonic analysis techniques, particularly the Helgason Fourier transform and semigroup approach to fractional Laplacian. Moreover, the Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality on complete Riemannian manifolds, as developed by Varopoulos, is pivotal in our analysis. We prove an existence result for the above problem in the subcritical case. Moreover, we also demonstrate that solutions exhibit radial symmetry, and establish the regularity properties.

Non-existence and multiplicity of positive solutions for Choquard equations with critical combined nonlinearities

Abstract:We study the non-existence and multiplicity of positive solutions of the nonlinear Choquard type equation $$ -\Delta u+ \varepsilon u=(I_\alpha \ast |u|^{p})|u|^{p-2}u+ |u|^{q-2}u, \quad {\rm in} \ \mathbb R^N, \qquad (P_\varepsilon)$$ where $N\ge 3$ is an integer, $p\in [\frac{N+\alpha}{N}, \frac{N+\alpha}{N-2}]$, $q\in (2,\frac{2N}{N-2}]$, $I_\alpha$ is the Riesz potential of order $\alpha\in (0,N)$ and $\varepsilon>0$ is a parameter. We fix one of $p,q$ as a critical exponent (in the sense of Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev and Sobolev inequalities ) and view the others in $p,q,\varepsilon, \alpha$ as parameters, we find regions in the $(p,q,\alpha, \varepsilon)$-parameter space, such that the corresponding equation has no positive ground state or admits multiple positive solutions. This is a counterpart of the Brezis-Nirenberg Conjecture (Brezis-Nirenberg, CPAM, 1983) for nonlocal elliptic equation in the whole space. Particularly, some threshold results for the existence of ground states and some conditions which insure two positive solutions are obtained. These results are quite different in nature from the corresponding local equation with combined powers nonlinearity and reveal the special influence of the nonlocal term. To the best of our knowledge, the only two papers concerning the multiplicity of positive solutions of elliptic equations with critical growth nonlinearity are given by Atkinson, Peletier (Nonlinear Anal, 1986) for elliptic equation on a ball and Juncheng Wei, Yuanze Wu (Proc. Royal Soc. Edinburgh, 2022) for elliptic equation with a combined powers nonlinearity in the whole space. The ODE technique is main ingredient in the proofs of the above mentioned papers, however, ODE technique does not work any more in our model equation due to the presence of the nonlocal term.

Moreover, if $\mu>\max\left\{\mu^{\nu},\frac{N^2(N-2)}{4(N+1)}\right\}$, then equation still admits a sign changing ground state solution provided $N\ge4$ or in dimension $N=3$ if in addition $\frac{3}{2}<\alpha<3$ and ker$(-\Delta + V_{\mu, \nu}) = \{0\}$, namely in the non-resonant case.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the following $p$-Laplacian equation $$ -\Delta_{p} u+h(x)|u|^{p-2} u=\left(R_{\alpha} *F(u)\right)f(u) $$ on lattice graphs $\mathbb{Z}^N$, where $p\geq 2$, $\alpha \in(0,N)$ are constants and $R_{\alpha}$ is the Green's function of the discrete fractional Laplacian that behaves as the Riesz potential. Under different assumptions on potential function $h$, we prove the existence of ground state solutions respectively by the methods of Nehari manifold.

Abstract:This paper studies the existence and multiplicity of normalized solutions to the lower critical Choquard equation with a $L^2$-subcritical local perturbation and kinds of bounded potentials \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} -\Delta u+V(x)u \\ \qquad =\lambda u+ \big(I_{\alpha}\ast|u|^{({N+\alpha})/{N}}\big)|u|^{({N+\alpha})/{N}-2}u +\mu |u|^{q-2}u & \text{in } \mathbb{R}^N, \\ \displaystyle \int_{\mathbb{R}^N}|u|^2dx=a^2, \end{cases} \end{equation*} where $N\geq 1$, $\mu, a> 0$, $2< q< 2+{4}/{N}$, $\alpha\in (0,N)$, $I_{\alpha}$ is the Riesz potential, $V(x)$ is a bounded potential and $\lambda\in \mathbb{R}$ is an unknown parameter that appears as a Lagrange multiplier.

Abstract:In this article, we study the existence of localized nodal solutions for semiclassical Choquard equation with critical growth $$ -\epsilon^2 \Delta v +V(x)v = \epsilon^{\alpha-N}\Big(\int_{R^N} \frac{|v(y)|^{2_\alpha^*}}{|x-y|^{\alpha}}\,dy\Big) |v|^{2_\alpha^*-2}v +\theta|v|^{q-2}v,\; x \in R^N, $$ where $\theta>0$, $N\geq 3$, $0< \alpha<\min \{4,N-1\},\max\{2,2^*-1\}< q< 2 ^*$, $2_\alpha^*= \frac{2N-\alpha}{N-2}$, $V$ is a bounded function. By the perturbation method and the method of invariant sets of descending flow, we establish for small $\epsilon$ the existence of a sequence of localized nodal solutions concentrating near a given local minimum point of the potential function $V$.
