Abstract:The all pairs shortest path problem (APSP) is one of the foundational problems in computer science. For weighted dense graphs on $n$ vertices, no truly sub-cubic algorithms exist to compute APSP exactly even for undirected graphs. This is popularly known as the APSP conjecture and has played a prominent role in developing the field of fine-grained complexity. The seminal result of Seidel uses fast matrix multiplication (FMM) to compute APSP on unweighted undirected graphs exactly in $\tilde{O}(n^{\omega})$ time, where $\omega=2.372$. Even for unweighted undirected graphs, it is not possible to obtain a $(2-\epsilon)$-approximation of APSP in $o(n^\omega)$ time. In this paper, we provide a multitude of new results for multiplicative and additive approximations of APSP in undirected graphs for both unweighted and weighted cases. We provide new algorithms for multiplicative 2-approximation of unweighted graphs: a deterministic one that runs in $\tilde{O}(n^{2.072})$ time and a randomized one that runs in $\tilde{O}(n^{2.032})$ on expectation improving upon the best known bound of $\tilde{O}(n^{2.25})$ by Roditty (STOC, 2023). For $2$-approximating paths of length $\geq k$, $k \geq 4$, we provide the first improvement after Dor, Halperin, Zwick (2000) for dense graphs even just using combinatorial methods, and then improve it further using FMM. We next consider additive approximations, and provide improved bounds for all additive $\beta$-approximations, $\beta \geq 4$. For weighted graphs, we show that by allowing small additive errors along with an $(1+\epsilon)$-multiplicative approximation, it is possible to improve upon Zwick's $\tilde{O}(n^\omega)$ algorithm. Our results point out the crucial role that FMM can play even on approximating APSP on unweighted undirected graphs, and reveal new bottlenecks towards achieving a quadratic running time to approximate APSP.

New Tradeoffs for Decremental Approximate All-Pairs Shortest Paths

Abstract:We provide new tradeoffs between approximation and running time for the decremental all-pairs shortest paths (APSP) problem. For undirected graphs with $m$ edges and $n$ nodes undergoing edge deletions, we provide four new approximate decremental APSP algorithms, two for weighted and two for unweighted graphs. Our first result is $(2+ \epsilon)$-APSP with total update time $\tilde{O}(m^{1/2}n^{3/2})$ (when $m= n^{1+c}$ for any constant $0<c<1$). Prior to our work the fastest algorithm for weighted graphs with approximation at most $3$ had total $\tilde O(mn)$ update time for $(1+\epsilon)$-APSP [Bernstein, SICOMP 2016]. Our second result is $(2+\epsilon, W_{u,v})$-APSP with total update time $\tilde{O}(nm^{3/4})$, where the second term is an additive stretch with respect to $W_{u,v}$, the maximum weight on the shortest path from $u$ to $v$. Our third result is $(2+ \epsilon)$-APSP for unweighted graphs in $\tilde O(m^{7/4})$ update time, which for sparse graphs ($m=o(n^{8/7})$) is the first subquadratic $(2+\epsilon)$-approximation. Our last result for unweighted graphs is $(1+\epsilon, 2(k-1))$-APSP, for $k \geq 2 $, with $\tilde{O}(n^{2-1/k}m^{1/k})$ total update time (when $m=n^{1+c}$ for any constant $c >0$). For comparison, in the special case of $(1+\epsilon, 2)$-approximation, this improves over the state-of-the-art algorithm by [Henzinger, Krinninger, Nanongkai, SICOMP 2016] with total update time of $\tilde{O}(n^{2.5})$. All of our results are randomized, work against an oblivious adversary, and have constant query time.

Abstract:In this paper, we revisit the classic approximate All-Pairs Shortest Paths (APSP) problem in undirected graphs. For unweighted graphs, we provide an algorithm for $2$-approximate APSP in $\tilde O(n^{2.5-r}+n^{\omega(r)})$ time, for any $r\in[0,1]$. This is $O(n^{2.032})$ time, using known bounds for rectangular matrix multiplication $n^{\omega(r)}$ [Le Gall, Urrutia, SODA 2018]. Our result improves on the $\tilde{O}(n^{2.25})$ bound of [Roditty, STOC 2023], and on the $\tilde{O}(m\sqrt n+n^2)$ bound of [Baswana, Kavitha, SICOMP 2010] for graphs with $m\geq n^{1.532}$ edges. For weighted graphs, we obtain $(2+\epsilon)$-approximate APSP in $\tilde O(n^{3-r}+n^{\omega(r)})$ time, for any $r\in [0,1]$. This is $O(n^{2.214})$ time using known bounds for $\omega(r)$. It improves on the state of the art bound of $O(n^{2.25})$ by [Kavitha, Algorithmica 2012]. Our techniques further lead to improved bounds in a wide range of density for weighted graphs. In particular, for the sparse regime we construct a distance oracle in $\tilde O(mn^{2/3})$ time that supports $2$-approximate queries in constant time. For sparse graphs, the preprocessing time of the algorithm matches conditional lower bounds [Patrascu, Roditty, Thorup, FOCS 2012; Abboud, Bringmann, Fischer, STOC 2023]. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first 2-approximate distance oracle that has subquadratic preprocessing time in sparse graphs. We also obtain new bounds in the near additive regime for unweighted graphs. We give faster algorithms for $(1+\epsilon,k)$-approximate APSP, for $k=2,4,6,8$. We obtain these results by incorporating fast rectangular matrix multiplications into various combinatorial algorithms that carefully balance out distance computation on layers of sparse graphs preserving certain distance information.

Abstract:In the bounded-leg shortest path (BLSP) problem, we are given a weighted graph G with nonnegative edge lengths, and we want to answer queries of the form "what's the shortest path from u to v, where only edges of length = f are considered.In this article we give an O~(n^{(omega+3)/2}epsilon^{-3/2}log W) time algorithm to compute a data structure that answers APSP-AF queries in O(log(epsilon^{-1}log (nW))) time and achieves (1+epsilon)-approximation, where omega < 2.373 is the exponent of time complexity of matrix multiplication, W is the upper bound of integer edge lengths, and n is the number of vertices. This is the first truly-subcubic time algorithm for these problems on dense graphs. Our algorithm utilizes the O(n^{(omega+3)/2}) time max-min product algorithm [Duan and Pettie 2009]. Since the all-pair bottleneck path (APBP) problem, which is equivalent to max-min product, can be seen as all-pair reachability for all flow, our approach indeed shows that these problems are almost equivalent in the approximation sense.

Abstract:We study the fully dynamic All-Pairs Shortest Paths (APSP) problem in undirected edge-weighted graphs. Given an $n$-vertex graph $G$ with non-negative edge lengths, that undergoes an online sequence of edge insertions and deletions, the goal is to support approximate distance queries and shortest-path queries. We provide a deterministic algorithm for this problem, that, for a given precision parameter $\epsilon$, achieves approximation factor $(\log\log n)^{2^{O(1/\epsilon^3)}}$, and has amortized update time $O(n^{\epsilon}\log L)$ per operation, where $L$ is the ratio of longest to shortest edge length. Query time for distance-query is $O(2^{O(1/\epsilon)}\cdot \log n\cdot \log\log L)$, and query time for shortest-path query is $O(|E(P)|+2^{O(1/\epsilon)}\cdot \log n\cdot \log\log L)$, where $P$ is the path that the algorithm returns. To the best of our knowledge, even allowing any $o(n)$-approximation factor, no adaptive-update algorithms with better than $\Theta(m)$ amortized update time and better than $\Theta(n)$ query time were known prior to this work. We also note that our guarantees are stronger than the best current guarantees for APSP in decremental graphs in the adaptive-adversary setting.

Abstract:The betweenness centrality (BC) of a node in a network (or graph) is a measure of its importance in the network. BC is widely used in a large number of environments such as social networks, transport networks, security/mobile networks and more. We present an O(n)-round distributed algorithm for computing BC of every vertex as well as all pairs shortest paths (APSP) in a directed unweighted network, where n is the number of vertices and m is the number of edges. We also present O(n)-round distributed algorithms for computing APSP and BC in a weighted directed acyclic graph (dag). Our algorithms are in the Congest model and our weighted dag algorithms appear to be the first nontrivial distributed algorithms for both APSP and BC. All our algorithms pay careful attention to the constant factors in the number of rounds and number of messages sent, and for unweighted graphs they improve on one or both of these measures by at least a constant factor over previous results for both directed and undirected APSP and BC.

Faster Approximation Algorithms for Restricted Shortest Paths in Directed Graphs

Abstract:In the restricted shortest paths problem, we are given a graph $G$ whose edges are assigned two non-negative weights: lengths and delays, a source $s$, and a delay threshold $D$. The goal is to find, for each target $t$, the length of the shortest $(s,t)$-path whose total delay is at most $D$. While this problem is known to be NP-hard [Garey and Johnson, 1979] $(1+\varepsilon)$-approximate algorithms running in $\tilde{O}(mn)$ time [Goel et al., INFOCOM'01; Lorenz and Raz, Oper. Res. Lett.'01] given more than twenty years ago have remained the state-of-the-art for directed graphs. An open problem posed by [Bernstein, SODA'12] -- who gave a randomized $m\cdot n^{o(1)}$ time bicriteria $(1+\varepsilon, 1+\varepsilon)$-approximation algorithm for undirected graphs -- asks if there is similarly an $o(mn)$ time approximation scheme for directed graphs. We show two randomized bicriteria $(1+\varepsilon, 1+\varepsilon)$-approximation algorithms that give an affirmative answer to the problem: one suited to dense graphs, and the other that works better for sparse graphs. On directed graphs with a quasi-polynomial weights aspect ratio, our algorithms run in time $\tilde{O}(n^2)$ and $\tilde{O}(mn^{3/5})$ or better, respectively. More specifically, the algorithm for sparse digraphs runs in time $\tilde{O}(mn^{(3 - \alpha)/5})$ for graphs with $n^{1 + \alpha}$ edges for any real $\alpha \in [0,1/2]$.

Distributed Deterministic Exact Minimum Weight Cycle and Multi Source Shortest Paths in Near Linear Rounds in CONGEST model

Abstract:We present new deterministic algorithms for computing distributed weighted minimum weight cycle (MWC) in undirected and directed graphs and distributed weighted all nodes shortest cycle (ANSC) in directed graphs. Our algorithms for these problems run in $\tilde{O}(n)$ rounds in the CONGEST model on graphs with arbitrary non-negative edge weights, matching the lower bound up to polylogarithmic factors. Before our work, no near linear rounds deterministic algorithms were known for these problems. The previous best bound for solving these problems deterministically requires an initial computation of all pairs shortest paths (APSP) on the given graph, followed by post-processing of $O(n)$ rounds, and in total takes $\tilde{O}(n^{4/3})$ rounds, using deterministic APSP~\cite{AR-SPAA20}. The main component of our new $\tilde{O}(n)$ rounds algorithms is a deterministic technique for constructing a sequence of successive blocker sets. These blocker sets are then treated as source nodes to compute $h$-hop shortest paths, which can then be used to compute candidate shortest cycles whose hop length lies in a particular range. The shortest cycles can then be obtained by selecting the cycle with the minimum weight from all these candidate cycles. Additionally using the above blocker set sequence technique, we also obtain $\tilde{O}(n)$ rounds deterministic algorithm for the multi-source shortest paths problem (MSSP) for both directed and undirected graphs, given that the size of the source set is at most $\sqrt{n}$. This new result for MSSP can be a step towards obtaining a $o(n^{4/3})$ rounds algorithm for deterministic APSP. We also believe that our new blocker set sequence technique may have potential applications for other distributed algorithms.

Fully-Dynamic All-Pairs Shortest Paths: Likely Optimal Worst-Case Update Time

Abstract:The All-Pairs Shortest Paths (APSP) problem is one of the fundamental problems in theoretical computer science. It asks to compute the distance matrix of a given $n$-vertex graph. We revisit the classical problem of maintaining the distance matrix under a fully dynamic setting undergoing vertex insertions and deletions with a fast worst-case running time and efficient space usage. Although an algorithm with amortized update-time $\tilde O(n ^ 2)$ has been known for nearly two decades [Demetrescu and Italiano, STOC 2003], the current best algorithm for worst-case running time with efficient space usage runs is due to [Gutenberg and Wulff-Nilsen, SODA 2020], which improves the space usage of the previous algorithm due to [Abraham, Chechik, and Krinninger, SODA 2017] to $\tilde O(n ^ 2)$ but fails to improve their running time of $\tilde O(n ^ {2 + 2 / 3})$. It has been conjectured that no algorithm in $O(n ^ {2.5 - \epsilon})$ worst-case update time exists. For graphs without negative cycles, we meet this conjectured lower bound by introducing a Monte Carlo algorithm running in randomized $\tilde O(n ^ {2.5})$ time while keeping the $\tilde O(n ^ 2)$ space bound from the previous algorithm. Our breakthrough is made possible by the idea of ``hop-dominant shortest paths,'' which are shortest paths with a constraint on hops (number of vertices) that remain shortest after we relax the constraint by a constant factor.

An Improved Two-Phased Approximation Of Minimum Connected Dominating Sets In Unit Disk Graphs Using Two-Hop Degree Centrality

Abstract:Minimum connected dominating set (MCDS) offers an optimized route in wireless networks. However, constructing an MCDS is an NP-complete problem. Many heuristics based approximation algorithms for MCDS problems have been previously reported. Nevertheless, results of these algorithms are not close enough to MCDS. In this paper, a new two-phased algorithm (THDCBTPS) is proposed for approximating an MCDS in unit disk graphs (UDGs) by using two-hop degree (D-2) centrality of the nodes. The main contributions of this paper are as follows. Firstly, a better approximation for MIS in the first phase is achieved by considering D-2. Secondly, an improved Steiner tree construction is proposed to obtain fewer connectors in the second phase, which leads to a smaller CDS. Thirdly, the upper bound of proposed approach is proved to be 6.075\opt\ + 5.425 which is better than most of existing methods. Simulation results show that THDCBTPS constructs better CDSs for networks with random distribution of nodes in UDG.
Dynamic Approximate Shortest Paths and Beyond: Subquadratic and Worst-Case Update Time

Abstract:Consider the following distance query for an $n$-node graph $G$ undergoing edge insertions and deletions: given two sets of nodes $I$ and $J$, return the distances between every pair of nodes in $I\times J$. This query is rather general and captures several versions of the dynamic shortest paths problem. In this paper, we develop an efficient $(1+\epsilon)$-approximation algorithm for this query using fast matrix multiplication. Our algorithm leads to answers for some open problems for Single-Source and All-Pairs Shortest Paths (SSSP and APSP), as well as for Diameter, Radius, and Eccentricities. Below are some highlights. Note that all our algorithms guarantee worst-case update time and are randomized (Monte Carlo), but do not need the oblivious adversary assumption. Subquadratic update time for SSSP, Diameter, Centralities, ect.: When we want to maintain distances from a single node explicitly (without queries), a fundamental question is to beat trivially calling Dijkstra's static algorithm after each update, taking $\Theta(n^2)$ update time on dense graphs. It was known to be improbable for exact algorithms and for combinatorial any-approximation algorithms to polynomially beat the $\Omega(n^2)$ bound (under some conjectures) [Roditty, Zwick, ESA'04; Abboud, V. Williams, FOCS'14]. Our algorithm with $I=\{s\}$ and $J=V(G)$ implies a $(1+\epsilon)$-approximation algorithm for this, guaranteeing $\tilde O(n^{1.823}/\epsilon^2)$ worst-case update time for directed graphs with positive real weights in $[1, W]$. With ideas from [Roditty, V. Williams, STOC'13], we also obtain the first subquadratic worst-case update time for $(5/3+\epsilon)$-approximating the eccentricities and $(1.5+\epsilon)$-approximating the diameter and radius for unweighted graphs (with small additive errors). Abstract:First, we present a new algorithm for the single-source shortest paths problem (SSSP) in edge-weighted directed graphs, with n vertices, m edges, and both positive and negative real edge weights. Given a positive integer parameter t, in O(tm) time the algorithm finds for each vertex v a path distance from the source to v not exceeding that yielded by the shortest path from the source to v among the so called t+$$t+$$light paths. A directed path between two vertices is t+$$t+$$light if it contains at most t more edges than the minimum edge-cardinality directed path between these vertices. For t=O(n)$$t=O(n)$$, our algorithm yields an O(nm)-time solution to SSSP in directed graphs with real edge weights matching that of Bellman and Ford.Our main contribution is a new, output-sensitive algorithm for the all-pairs shortest paths problem (APSP) in directed acyclic graphs (DAGs) with positive and negative real edge weights. The running time of the algorithm depends on such parameters as the number of leaves in (lexicographically first) shortest-paths trees, and the in-degrees in the input graph. If the trees are sufficiently thin on the average, the algorithm is substantially faster than the best known algorithm.Finally, we discuss an extension of hypothetical improved upper time-bounds for APSP in non-negatively edge-weighted DAGs to include directed graphs with a polynomial number of large directed cycles.
Near Optimal Bounds for Replacement Paths and Related Problems in the CONGEST Model

Abstract:We present several results in the CONGEST model on round complexity for Replacement Paths (RPaths), Minimum Weight Cycle (MWC), and All Nodes Shortest Cycles (ANSC). We study these fundamental problems in both directed and undirected graphs, both weighted and unweighted. Many of our results are optimal to within a polylog factor: For an $n$-node graph $G$ we establish near linear lower and upper bounds for computing RPaths if $G$ is directed and weighted, and for computing MWC and ANSC if $G$ is weighted, directed or undirected; near $\sqrt{n}$ lower and upper bounds for undirected weighted RPaths; and $\Theta(D)$ bound for undirected unweighted RPaths. We also present lower and upper bounds for approximation versions of these problems, notably a $(2-(1/g))$-approximation algorithm for undirected unweighted MWC that runs in $\tilde{O}(\sqrt{n}+D)$ rounds, improving on the previous best bound of $\tilde{O}(\sqrt{ng}+D)$ rounds, where $g$ is the MWC length. We present a $(1+\epsilon)$-approximation algorithm for directed weighted RPaths, which beats the linear lower bound for exact RPaths.

A Near-Optimal Low-Energy Deterministic Distributed SSSP with Ramifications on Congestion and APSP

Abstract:We present a low-energy deterministic distributed algorithm that computes exact Single-Source Shortest Paths (SSSP) in near-optimal time: it runs in $\tilde{O}(n)$ rounds and each node is awake during only $poly(\log n)$ rounds. When a node is not awake, it performs no computations or communications and spends no energy. The general approach we take along the way to this result can be viewed as a novel adaptation of Dijkstra's classic approach to SSSP, which makes it suitable for the distributed setting. Notice that Dijkstra's algorithm itself is not efficient in the distributed setting due to its need for repeatedly computing the minimum-distance unvisited node in the entire network. Our adapted approach has other implications, as we outline next. As a step toward the above end-result, we obtain a simple deterministic algorithm for exact SSSP with near-optimal time and message complexities of $\tilde{O}(n)$ and $\tilde{O}(m)$, in which each edge communicates only $poly(\log n)$ messages. Therefore, one can simultaneously run $n$ instances of it for $n$ sources, using a simple random delay scheduling. That computes All Pairs Shortest Paths (APSP) in the near-optimal time complexity of $\tilde{O}(n)$. This algorithm matches the complexity of the recent APSP algorithm of Bernstein and Nanongkai [STOC 2019] using a completely different method (and one that is more modular, in the sense that the SSSPs are solved independently). It also takes a step toward resolving the open problem on a deterministic $\tilde{O}(n)$-time APSP, as the only randomness used now is in the scheduling.

The Laplacian Paradigm in Deterministic Congested Clique

Abstract:In this paper, we bring the techniques of the Laplacian paradigm to the congested clique, while further restricting ourselves to deterministic algorithms. In particular, we show how to solve a Laplacian system up to precision $\epsilon$ in $n^{o(1)}\log(1/\epsilon)$ rounds. We show how to leverage this result within existing interior point methods for solving flow problems. We obtain an $m^{3/7+o(1)}U^{1/7}$ round algorithm for maximum flow on a weighted directed graph with maximum weight $U$, and we obtain an $\tilde{O}(m^{3/7}(n^{0.158}+n^{o(1)}\text{poly}\log W))$ round algorithm for unit capacity minimum cost flow on a directed graph with maximum cost $W$. Hereto, we give a novel routine for computing Eulerian orientations in $O(\log n \log^* n)$ rounds, which we believe may be of separate interest.

Abstract:We introduce a communication model for hybrid networks, where nodes have access to two different communication modes: a local mode where communication is only possible between specific pairs of nodes, and a global mode where communication between any pair of nodes is possible. This can be motivated, for instance, by wireless networks in which we combine direct device-to-device communication (e.g., using WiFi) with communication via a shared infrastructure (like base stations, the cellular network, or satellites). Typically, communication over short-range connections is cheaper and can be done at a much higher rate. Hence, we are focusing here on the LOCAL model (in which the nodes can exchange an unbounded amount of information in each round) for the local connections while for the global communication we assume the so-called node-capacitated clique model, where in each round every node can exchange only $O(\log n)$-bit messages with just $O(\log n)$ other nodes. In order to explore the power of combining local and global communication, we study the impact of hybrid communication on the complexity of computing shortest paths in the graph given by the local connections. Specifically, for the all-pairs shortest paths problem (APSP), we show that an exact solution can be computed in time $\tilde O\big(n^{2/3}\big)$ and that approximate solutions can be computed in time $\tilde \Theta\big(\!\sqrt{n}\big)$. For the single-source shortest paths problem (SSSP), we show that an exact solution can be computed in time $\tilde O\big(\!\sqrt{\mathsf{SPD}}\big)$, where $\mathsf{SPD}$ denotes the shortest path diameter. We further show that a $\big(1\!+\!o(1)\big)$-approximate solution can be computed in time $\tilde O\big(n^{1/3}\big)$. Additionally, we show that for every constant $\varepsilon>0$, it is possible to compute an $O(1)$-approximate solution in time $\tilde O(n^\varepsilon)$.

Scalable $k$-clique Densest Subgraph Search

Abstract:In this paper, we present a collection of novel and scalable algorithms designed to tackle the challenges inherent in the $k$-clique densest subgraph problem (\kcdsp) within network analysis. We propose \psctl, a novel algorithm based on the Frank-Wolfe approach for addressing \kcdsp, effectively solving a distinct convex programming problem. \textcolor{black}{\psctl is able to approximate \kcdsp with near optimal guarantees.} The notable advantage of \psctl lies in its time complexity, which is independent of the count of $k$-cliques, resulting in remarkable efficiency in practical applications. Additionally, we present \spath, a sampling-based algorithm with the capability to handle networks on an unprecedented scale, reaching up to $1.8\times 10^9$ edges. By leveraging the \ccpath algorithm as a uniform $k$-clique sampler, \spath ensures the efficient processing of large-scale network data, accompanied by a detailed analysis of accuracy guarantees. Together, these contributions represent a significant advancement in the field of $k$-clique densest subgraph discovery. In experimental evaluations, our algorithms demonstrate orders of magnitude faster performance compared to the current state-of-the-art solutions.

Sublinear-time Sampling of Spanning Trees in the Congested Clique

Abstract:We present the first sublinear round algorithm for approximately sampling uniform spanning trees in the CongestedClique model of distributed computing. In particular, our algorithm requires $Õ(n^{0.658})$ rounds for sampling a spanning tree from a distribution within total variation distance $1/n^c$, for arbitrary constant $c > 0$, from the uniform distribution. More precisely, our algorithm requires $Õ(n^{1/2 + \alpha})$ rounds, where $O(n^\alpha)$ is the running time of matrix multiplication in the CongestedClique model, currently at $\alpha = 1 - 2/\omega = 0.158$, where $\omega$ is the sequential matrix multiplication time exponent. In addition, we show how to take somewhat shorter random walks even more efficiently in the CongestedClique model. Specifically, we show how to construct length-$\tau$ walks, for $\tau = \Omega(n/\log n)$, in $O\left(\frac{\tau}{n} \log \tau \log n\right)$ rounds and for $\tau = O(n/\log n)$ in $O(\log \tau)$ rounds. This implies an $O(\log^3 n)$-round algorithm in the CongestedClique model for sampling spanning trees for Erdős-Rényi graphs and regular expander graphs due to the $O(n \log n)$ bound on their cover time. This also implies that polylogarithmic-length walks, which are useful for page rank estimation, can be constructed in $O(\log \log n)$ rounds in the CongestedClique model. These results are obtained by adding a load balancing component to the random walk algorithm of Bahmani, Chakrabarti and Xin (SIGMOD 2011) that uses the ``doubling'' technique.

Abstract:Given an undirected graph with a nonnegative weight on each edge, the shortest total path length spanning tree problem is to find a spanning tree of the graph such that the total path length summed over all pairs of the vertices is minimized. In this paper, we present several approximation algorithms for this problem. Our algorithms achieve approximation ratios of 2, 15/8, and 3/2 in time O(n2+f(G)),O(n3), and O(n4) respectively, in which f(G) is the time complexity for computing all-pairs shortest paths of the input graph G and n is the number of vertices of G. Furthermore, we show that the approximation ratio of (4/3+ε) can be achieved in polynomial time for any constant ε>0.
