Abstract:Given a holomorphic Lie algebroid on an m-pointed Riemann surface, we define parabolic Lie algebroid connections on any parabolic vector bundle equipped with parabolic structure over the marked points. An analogue of the Atiyah exact sequence for parabolic Lie algebroids is constructed. For any Lie algebroid whose underlying holomorphic vector bundle is stable, we give a complete characterization of all the parabolic vector bundles that admit a parabolic Lie algebroid connection.

Abstract:Let X be a compact Riemann surface of genus g≥3 . Let L=(L,[.,.],♯) be a holomorphic Lie algebroid over X of rank one and degree (L)<2−2g . We consider the moduli space of holomorphic Lλ -connections over X , where λ∈C . We compute the Picard group of the moduli space of Lλ -connections by constructing an explicit smooth compactification of the moduli space of those Lλ -connections whose underlying vector bundle is stable such that the complement is a smooth divisor. We also show that the automorphism group of the moduli space of Lλ -connections fits into a short exact sequence that involves the automorphism group of the moduli space of stable vector bundle over X . For λ = 1, we get Lie algebroid de Rham moduli space of L -connections and we determine its Chow group. Communicated by Manuel Reyes

Abstract:We explore algebro-geometric properties of the moduli space of holomorphic Lie algebroid ($ \mathcal{L} $) connections on a compact Riemann surface $X$ of genus $g \,\geq\, 3$. A smooth compactification of the moduli space of $\mathcal{L}$-connections, such that underlying vector bundle is stable, is constructed; the complement of the moduli space inside the compactification is a divisor. A criterion for the numerical effectiveness of the boundary divisor is given. We compute the Picard group of the moduli space, and analyze Lie algebroid Atiyah bundles associated with an ample line bundle. This enables us to conclude that regular functions on the space of certain Lie algebroid connections are constants. Moreover, under some condition, it is shown that the moduli space of $\mathcal{L}$-connections does not admit non-constant algebraic functions. Rationally connectedness of the moduli spaces is explored.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{L}=(L,[\cdot\,,\cdot],\delta)$ be an algebraic Lie algebroid over a smooth projective curve $X$ of genus $g\geq 2$ such that $L$ is a line bundle whose degree is less than $2-2g$. Let $r$ and $d$ be coprime numbers. We prove that the motivic class of the moduli space of $\mathcal{L}$-connections of rank $r$ and degree $d$ over $X$ does not depend on the Lie algebroid structure $[\cdot\,,\cdot]$ and $\delta$ of $\mathcal{L}$ and neither on the line bundle $L$ itself, but only on the degree of $L$ (and of course on $r$, $d$ and $X$). In particular it is equal to the motivic class of the moduli space of $K_X(D)$-twisted Higgs bundles of rank $r$ and degree $d$, for $D$ any effective divisor with the appropriate degree. As a consequence, similar results (actually slightly stronger) are obtained for the corresponding $E$-polynomials. Some applications of these results are then deduced.

Abstract:A Lie algebroid is a generalization of Lie algebra that provides a general framework to describe the symmetries of a manifold. In this paper, we introduce Lie algebroid index theory and study the Lie algebroid Dolbeault operator. We also introduce Connes' index theory on regular foliated manifolds to obtain a generalized Riemann-Roch theorem on manifolds with regular foliation. We show that the topological side of Connes' index theory can be identified with the topological side of Lie algebroid index theory. Finally, we introduce Lie algebroid Kodaira vanishing theorem, and provide some applications and examples. The Lie algebroid Kodaira vanishing theorem can be used on the analytic side of Connes' theorem to attest to the criterion of a positive line bundle from its topological information.

Abstract:We consider Lie algebroids over an algebraic space (or topological ringed space) as quasicoherent sheaves of Lie-Rinehart algebras. We express hypercohomology for a locally free Lie algebroid (not necessarily of finite rank) as a derived functor, and simplify it via Čech cohomology. Furthermore, we define the Hochschild hypercohomology of a sheaf of generalized bialgebras and study the cases of the universal enveloping algebroid and the jet algebroid of a Lie algebroid. In the sequel, we present a version of Hochschild-Kostant-Rosenberg theorem for a locally free Lie algebroid, as well as its dual version.

Abstract:Associated to a symmetric space there is a canonical connection with zero torsion and parallel curvature. This connection acts as a binary operator on the vector space of smooth sections of the tangent bundle, and it is linear with respect to the real numbers. Thus the smooth section of the tangent bundle together with the connection form an algebra we call the connection algebra. The constraints of zero torsion and constant curvature makes the connection algebra into a Lie admissible triple algebra. This is a type of algebra that generalises pre-Lie algebras, and it can be embedded into a post-Lie algebra in a canonical way that generalises the canonical embedding of Lie triple systems into Lie algebras. The free Lie admissible triple algebra can be described by incorporating triple-brackets into the leaves of rooted (non-planar) trees.

Abstract:We prove that certain vector bundles over surfaces are ample if they are so when restricted to divisors, certain numerical criteria hold, and they are semistable (with respect to $\det(E)$). This result is a higher-rank version of a theorem of Schneider and Tancredi for vector bundles of rank two over surfaces. We also provide counterexamples indicating that our theorem is sharp.

Abstract:We examine the heap of linear connections on anchored vector bundles and Lie algebroids. Naturally, this covers the example of affine connections on a manifold. We present some new interpretations of classical results via this ternary structure of connections. Endomorphisms of linear connections are studied, and their ternary structure, in particular the endomorphism truss, is explicitly presented. We remark that the use of ternary structures in differential geometry is novel and that the endomorphism truss of linear connections provides a concrete geometric example of a truss.

Abstract:Over a smooth and proper complex scheme, the differential Galois group of an integrable connection may be obtained as the closure of the transcendental monodromy representation. In this paper, we employ a completely algebraic variation of this idea by restricting attention to connections on trivial vector bundles and replacing the fundamental group by a certain Lie algebra constructed from the regular forms. In more detail, we show that the differential Galois group is a certain ``closure'' of the aforementioned Lie algebra. This is then applied to construct connections on curves with prescribed differential Galois group.

Abstract:Let $\mathbb{X}=[X_1\rightrightarrows X_0]$ be a Lie groupoid equipped with a connection, given by a smooth distribution $\mathcal{H} \subset T X_1$ transversal to the fibers of the source map. Under the assumption that the distribution $\mathcal{H}$is integrable, we define a version of de Rham cohomology for the pair $(\mathbb{X}, \mathcal{H})$, and we study connections on principal $G$-bundles over $(\mathbb{X}, \mathcal{H})$ in terms of the associated Atiyah sequence of vector bundles. We also discuss associated constructions for differentiable stacks. Finally, we develop the corresponding Chern-Weil theory and describe characteristic classes of principal G-bundles over a pair $(\mathbb{X}, \mathcal{H})$.

An exploration of connections and curvature in the presence of singularities

Abstract:We develop the notions of connections and curvature for general Lie-Rinehart algebras without using smoothness assumptions on the base space. We present situations when a connection exists. E.g., this is the case when the underlying module is finitely generated. We show how the group of module automorphism acts as gauge transformations on the space of connections. When the underlying module is projective we define a version of the Chern character reproducing results of Hideki Ozeki. We discuss various examples of flat connections and the associated Maurer-Cartan equations. We provide examples of Levi-Civita connections on singular varieties and singular differential spaces with non-zero Riemannian curvature. The main observation is that for quotient singularities, even though the metric degenerates along strata, the poles of the Christoffel symbols are removable.

Given a positive integer $r$, consider the stack $\mathfrak{X} := \mathfrak{X}_{(\mathcal{O}_X(D),\, s_D,\, r)}$ of $r$-th roots of $(\mathcal{O}_X, s_D)$ together with the natural morphism $\pi : \mathfrak{X} \to X$. Under the assumption that $G$ has no non-trivial characters, we show that the $G$--action on $X$ naturally lifts to a $G$--action on $\mathfrak{X}$ such that $\pi$ become $G$--equivariant, and the tautological invertible sheaf $\mathscr{M}$ on $\mathfrak{X}$ admits a linearization of this $G$--action. Abstract:Let $C$ be an affine curve over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic $p>0$. Given an embedding problem $(\beta:\Gamma\longrightarrow G, \alpha: \pi^{et}_1(C)\longrightarrow G)$ for $\pi_1^{et}(C)$ where $\beta$ is a surjective homomorphism of finite groups with prime-to-$p$ kernel $H$, we discuss when an $H$-cover of the $G$-cover of $C$ corresponding to $\alpha$ is a solution. When $H$ is abelian and $G$ is a $p$-group, some necessary and sufficient conditions for the solvability of the embedding problem are given in terms of the action of $G$ on certain generalized Picard group.

Abstract:In this paper, we established the relationship among left-invariant flat connections on Lie groups, left-symmetric algebras, Frobenius Lie algebras and étale prehomogeneous vector spaces, gave a one-to-one correspondence between the left-symmetric Lie algebras with a right identity and the étale prehomogeneous vector spaces for a Lie group, and proved that, in essence, any left-symmetric structure on a reductive Lie algebra has a right identity, which implies that the classification of flat connections on a reductive Lie group $G$ amounts to that of étale prehomogeneous vector spaces for $G$. We classified the étale prehomogeneous vector spaces for $G$ with simple Levi factors.

Abstract:As a sequel to [Duan-Shu-Yao], we introduce here a category $\mathscr{LC}$ arising from the BGG category $\mathcal{O}$ defined in [Duan-Shu-Yao] for Lie algebras of polynomial vector fields. The objects of $\mathscr{LC}$ are so-called Lie-Cartan modules which admit both Lie-module structure and compatible $R$-module structure ($R$ denotes the corresponding polynomial ring). This terminology is natural, coming from affine connections in differential geometry through which the structure sheaves in topology and the vector fields in geometry are integrated for differential manifolds.
