Abstract:In this paper, we investigate $\theta$-derivations on Banach algebra $ L_0^{\infty} (w)^*$. First, we study the range of them and prove the Singer-Wermer conjucture. We also give a characterization of the space of all $\theta$-derivations on $ L_0^{\infty} (w)^*$. Then, we prove automatic continuity and Posner's theorems for $\theta$-derivations.

Abstract:Let $\theta$ be a homomorphism on $L_0^\infty({\Bbb R}^+, \omega)^*$. In this paper, we study left $\theta$-derivations on $L_0^\infty({\Bbb R}^+, \omega)^*$. We show that every left $\theta$-derivation on $L_0^\infty({\Bbb R}^+, \omega)^*$ is always a $\theta$-derivation, and if $\theta$ is isomorphism, then $L_0^\infty({\Bbb R}^+, \omega)^*$ has no non-zero left $\theta$-derivation. We also investigate automatic continuity, Singer-Wermer's conjecture and Posner's first theorem for left $\theta-$derivations on $L_0^\infty({\Bbb R}^+, \omega)^*$.

Abstract:Let $\theta$ be an isomorphism on $L_0^{\infty} (w)^*$. In this paper, we investigate $\theta$-generalized derivations on $L_0^{\infty} (w)^*$. We show that every $\theta$-centralizing $\theta$-generalized derivation on $L_0^{\infty} (w)^*$ is a $\theta$-right centralizer. We also prove that this result is true for $\theta$-skew centralizing $\theta$-generalized derivations.

Abstract:In this paper, we study Jordan derivation-like maps on the $\theta-$Lau products of algebras. We characterize them and prove that under certain condition any Jordan derivation-like maps on the $\theta-$Lau products is a derivation-like map. Moreover, we investigate the concept of centralizing for Jordan derivation-like maps on the $\theta-$Lau products of algebras.

Abstract:We prove a theorem about the derivation algebra of the tensor product of two algebras. As an application, we determine the derivation algebra of the fixed point algebra of the tensor product of two algebras, with respect to the tensor product of two finite order automorphisms of the involved algebras. These results generalize some well-know theorems in the literature.

Abstract:We establish a correspondence between automorphisms and derivations on certain algebras of generalised power series. In particular, we describe a Lie algebra of derivations on a field $k(\!(G)\!)$ of generalised power series, exploiting our knowledge of its group of valuation preserving automorphisms. The correspondence is given by the formal Taylor expansion of the exponential. In order to define the exponential map, we develop an appropriate notion of summability of infinite families in algebras. We show that there is a large class of algebras in which the exponential induces the above correspondence.

Abstract:Let ${\sf G}$ be a locally compact group, $\mathscr C\overset{q}{\to}{\sf G}$ a Fell bundle and $\mathfrak B=L^1({\sf G}\,\vert\,\mathscr C)$ the algebra of integrable cross-sections associated to the bundle. We give conditions that guarantee the automatic continuity of an intertwining operator $\theta:\mathcal X_1\to\mathcal X_2$, where $\mathcal X_1$ is a Banach $\mathfrak B$-bimodule and $\mathcal X_2$ is a weak Banach $\mathfrak B$-bimodule, in terms of the continuity ideal of $\theta$. We provide examples of algebras where this conditions are met, both in the case of derivations and algebra morphisms. In particular, we show that, if ${\sf G}$ is infinite, finitely-generated, has polynomial growth and $\alpha$ is a free (partial) action of ${\sf G}$ on the compact space $X$, then every homomorphism of $\ell^1_\alpha({\sf G},C(X))$ into a Banach algebra is automatically continuous.

Abstract:Let M be a semifinite von Neumann algebra with a faithful semifinite normal trace τ and let A be an arbitrary C⁎-subalgebra of M. Assume that E is a fully symmetric function space on (0,∞) having Fatou property and order continuous norm and E(M,τ) is the corresponding symmetric operator space. We prove that every derivation δ:A→E(M,τ):=E(M,τ)∩M is inner, strengthening earlier results by Kaftal and Weiss [28]. In the case when M is a semifinite non-finite factor, we show that our assumptions on E(0,∞) are sharp.

Abstract:Let E = E(0,infinity) be a symmetric function space and E(M,tau) be the noncommutative symmetric space corresponding to E(0,infinity) associated with a von Neumann algebra with a faithful normal semifinite trace. Our main result identifies the class of spaces E for which every derivation delta : A -> E(M, tau) is necessarily inner for each C*-subalgebra A in the class of all semifinite von Neumann algebras M as those with the Levi property.
Volterra-type inner derivations on Hardy spaces

Abstract:A classical result of Calkin [Ann. of Math. (2) 42 (1941), pp. 839-873] says that an inner derivation $S\mapsto [T,S] = TS-ST$ maps the algebra of bounded operators on a Hilbert space into the ideal of compact operators if and only if $T$ is a compact perturbation of the multiplication by a scalar. In general, an analogous statement fails for operators on Banach spaces. To complement Calkin's result, we characterize Volterra-type inner derivations on Hardy spaces using generalized area operators and compact intertwining relations for Volterra and composition operators. Further, we characterize the compact intertwining relations for multiplication and composition operators between Hardy and Bergman spaces.

Abstract:We solve an open problem concerning the well-known $(\alpha,\beta,\gamma)$-derivations, proving that the spaces of $(\alpha,1,0)$-derivations of any Lie algebra are isomorphic ($\alpha\neq 0,1$). Also, we prove sharp bounds for the invariants functions defined by such spaces.

Abstract:We have carried out first-principles calculations of Be(0001) thin films to study the oscillatory quantum size effects exhibited in the surface energy, work function, and binding energy of the atomic hydrogen monolayer adsorption. The prominent enhancement of the surface density of states at the Fermi level makes Be(0001) thin films more metallic compared to the crystalline Be. As a result, the calculated energetics of Be films and the properties of atomic H adsorption onto Be(0001) surface are featured by a quantum oscillatory behavior. Furthermore, The prominent change in the Be(0001) surface electronic structure by the atomic hydrogen adsorption has also been shown.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{A}$ and $\mathcal{B}$ be two algebras and let $n$ be a positive integer. A linear mapping $D:\mathcal{A} \rightarrow \mathcal{B}$ is called a \emph{strongly generalized derivation of order $n$} if there exist families of linear mappings $\{E_k:\mathcal{A} \rightarrow \mathcal{B}\}_{k = 1}^{n}$, $\{F_k:\mathcal{A} \rightarrow \mathcal{B}\}_{k = 1}^{n}$, $\{G_k:\mathcal{A} \rightarrow \mathcal{B}\}_{k = 1}^{n}$ and $\{H_k:\mathcal{A} \rightarrow \mathcal{B}\}_{k = 1}^{n}$ which satisfy $D(ab) = \sum_{k = 1}^{n}\left[E_k(a) F_k(b) + G_k(a)H_k(b)\right]$ for all $a, b \in \mathcal{A}$. The purpose of this article is to study the automatic continuity of such derivations on Banach algebras and $C^{\ast}$-algebras.
Malliavin calculus on the Clifford algebra

Abstract:We deal with Malliavin calculus on the $L^2$ space of the $W^*$-algebra generated by fermion fields (the Clifford algebra). First, we verify the product formula for multiple integrals in Itô-Clifford calculus, which is Itô calculus on the Clifford algebra. Using this product formula, we can define the derivation operator and the divergence operator. Anti-symmetric Malliavin calculus thus constructed has properties similar to those of usual Malliavin calculus. The derivation operator and the divergence operator satisfy the canonical anti-commutation relations, and the divergence operator serves as an extension of the Itô-Clifford stochastic integral, satisfying the Clark-Ocone formula. Subsequently, using this calculus, we consider the concentration inequality, the logarithmic Sobolev inequality, and the fourth-moment theorem. As for the logarithmic Sobolev inequality, only a weaker result is obtained. On the other hand, as for the concentration inequality, we obtain results that are almost similar to those of the usual case; moreover, the results concerning the fourth-moment theorem imply that, unlike in the case of the usual Brownian motion, convergence in distribution cannot be deduced from the convergence of the fourth moment.

Abstract:Let $\mathcal{M}$ be a Banach bimodule over an associative Banach algebra $\mathcal{A}$, and let $F: \mathcal{A}\to \mathcal{M}$ be a linear mapping. Three main uses of the term \emph{generalized derivation} are identified in the available literature, namely, ($\checkmark$) $F$ is a generalized derivation of the first type if there exists a derivation $ d : \mathcal{A}\to \mathcal{M}^{**}$ satisfying $F(a b ) = F(a) b + a d(b),$ for all $a,b\in \mathcal{A}$. ($\checkmark$) $F$ is a generalized derivation of the second type if there exists an element $\xi\in \mathcal{M}^{**}$ satisfying $F(a b ) = F(a) b + a F(b) - a \xi b,$ for all $a,b\in \mathcal{A}$. ($\checkmark$) $F$ is a generalized derivation of the third type if there exist two (non-necessarily linear) mappings $G,H : \mathcal{A}\to \mathcal{M}$ satisfying $F(a b ) = G(a) b + a H(b),$ for all $a,b\in \mathcal{A}$. These three types of maps are not, in general, equivalent. Although the first two notions are well studied when $\mathcal{A}$ is a C$^*$-algebra, their connections with the third one have not yet been explored. In this note we prove that every generalized derivation of the third type from a C$^*$-algebra $\mathcal{A}$ to a Banach $\mathcal{A}$-bimodule $\mathcal{M}$ is automatically continuous. We also show that every (continuous) generalized derivation of the third type from $\mathcal{A}$ to $\mathcal{M}$ is a generalized derivation of the first and second type. Consequently, the three notions coincide in this case. We also explore some concepts of generalized Jordan derivations on a C$^*$-algebra and establish some continuity properties for them.

Abstract:Let $A$ be a Banach algebra with a right identity $u$ such that $uA$ is commutative and semisimple. In this paper, we investigate symmetric bi-derivations of $A$ and detremine their range. We also study symmetric bi-derivations of $A$ with their $k$-centralizing trace. Finally, we prove every symmetric Jordan bi-derivation of $A$ is a symmetric bi-derivation.

Abstract:We prove that if Δ is a norm-continuous weak ∗ -2-local derivation on a von Neumann algebra M and satisfies Δ(p+iμq)=Δ(p)+iμΔ(q) for every pair of projections p and q in M , and every μ∈R , then Δ is a derivation. We further show that every weak-local derivation of an R∗ -algebra is a derivation and that every weak-2-local inner derivation on a unital R∗ -algebra is a derivation. Finally, we show that if φ is a 2-local Lie ∗ -isomorphism of a factor M with no central summands of type I 1 or I 2 , then φ only has one of two forms: (1) θ+λ where θ is a ∗ -isomorphism and λ is a ∗ -linear map from M into CIM which annihilates every commutator of M or (2) - θ+λ where θ is a ∗ -anti-isomorphism and λ as before.

Abstract:Let $A$ be an MV-algebra. An $(\odot,\vee)$-derivation on $A$ is a map $d: A\to A$ satisfying: $d(x \odot y) = (d(x) \odot y) \vee(x \odot d(y))$ for all $x, y \in A$. This paper initiates the study of $(\odot,\vee)$-derivations on MV-algebras. Several families of $(\odot,\vee)$-derivations on an MV-algebra are explicitly constructed to give realizations of the underlying lattice of an MV-algebra as lattices of $(\odot,\vee)$-derivations. Furthermore, $(\odot,\vee)$-derivations on a finite MV-chain are enumerated and the underlying lattice is described.

Abstract:Let $A$ be a finite-dimensional algebra over a field $F$ with char$(F)\ne 2$. We show that a linear map $D:A\to A$ satisfying $xD(x)x\in [A,A]$ for every $x\in A$ is the sum of an inner derivation and a linear map whose image lies in the radical of $A$. Assuming additionally that $A$ is semisimple and char$(F)\ne 3$, we show that a linear map $T:A\to A$ satisfies $T(x)^3- x^3 \in [A,A]$ for every $x\in A$ if and only if there exist a Jordan automorphism $J$ of $A$ lying in the multiplication algebra of $A$ and a central element $\alpha$ satisfying $\alpha^3=1$ such that $T(x)=\alpha J(x)$ for all $x\in A$. These two results are applied to the study of local derivations and local (Jordan) automorphisms. In particular, the second result is used to prove that every local Jordan automorphism of a finite-dimensional simple algebra $A$ (over a field $F$ with char$(F)\ne 2,3$) is a Jordan automorphism.
