Abstract:For an affine algebraic variety, we introduce algebraic Gelfand-Fuks cohomology of polynomial vector fields with coefficients in differentiable $AV$-modules. Its complex is given by cochains that are differential operators in the sense of Grothendieck. Using the jets of vector fields, we compute this cohomology for varieties with uniformizing parameters. We prove that in this case, Gelfand-Fuks cohomology with coefficients in a tensor module decomposes as a tensor product of the de Rham cohomology of the variety and the cohomology of the Lie algebra of vector fields on affine space, vanishing at the origin. We explicitly compute this cohomology for affine space, the torus, and Krichever-Novikov algebras.

Abstract:The cohomology H * (Gamma, E) of an arithmetic subgroup F of a connected reductive algebraic group G defined over some algebraic number field F can be interpreted in terms of the automorphic spectrum of Gamma. With this framework in place, there is a sum decomposition of the cohomology into the cuspidal cohomology (i.e., classes represented by cuspidal automorphic forms for G) and the so-called Eisenstein cohomology constructed as the span of appropriate residues or derivatives of Eisenstein series attached to cuspidal automorphic forms on the Levi components of proper parabolic F-subgroups of G. The main objective of this paper is to isolate a specific structural part in the Eisenstein cohomology. This pertains to regular Eisenstein cohomology classes attached to cuspidal automorphic representations whose archimedean component is tempered. It is shown that the cohomological degree of these classes is bounded from below by the constant q(0)(G(R)) = ((1 /2)[dim X-G(R) - (rk(G(R)) - rk(K-R))], where KR denotes a maximal compact subgroup of the real Lie group G(R), where XG(R) is the associated symmetric space. This investigation has various applications. One of these is a vanishing result,for the cohomology in the generic case (i.e., where coefficient system E has regular highest weight) the representation determining the in degrees below q(0) (G (R)). This is a sharp bound depending only on the underlying real Lie group G (R) (Corollary 5.6, Proposition 5.8). This result is supplemented by a qualitative structural result in the description of the cohomology in higher degrees by means of regular Eisenstein cohomology classes.

Abstract:We study the homology and cohomology groups of super Lie algebras of supersymmetries and of super Poincaré Lie algebras in various dimensions. We give complete answers for (non-extended) supersymmetry in all dimensions ⩽11. For dimensions D=10,11 we describe also the cohomology of reduction of supersymmetry Lie algebra to lower dimensions. Our methods can be applied to extended supersymmetry Lie algebras.

Abstract:In [2] (Preprint, 2006, arXiv:math.RT/0609363) the authors initiated a study of the representation theory of classical Lie superalgebras via a cohomological approach. Detecting subalgebras were constructed and a theory of support varieties was developed. The dimension of a detecting subalgebra coincides with the defect of the Lie superalgebra, and the dimension of the support variety for a simple supermodule was conjectured to equal the atypicality of the supermodule. In this paper the authors compute the support varieties of Kac supermodules for Type‐I Lie superalgebras and of the simple supermodules for gl(m|n). The latter result verifies our earlier conjecture for gl(m|n). In our investigation we also delineate several of the major differences between Type‐I versus Type‐II classical Lie superalgebras. Finally, the connection between atypicality, defect and superdimension is made more precise by using the theory of support varieties and representations of Clifford superalgebras.

Abstract:We describe the structure of the quotient $\mathfrak{G}/\mathfrak{H}$ of a formal supergroup $\mathfrak{G}$ by its formal sub-supergroup $\mathfrak{H}$. This is a consequence which arises as a continuation of the authors' work (partly with M. Hashi) on algebraic/analytic supergoups.The results are presented and proved in terms of super-cocommutative Hopf superalgebras. The notion of co-free super-coalgebras plays a role, in particular.

Abstract:We show that the cohomology of canonical extensions of automorphic vector bundles over toroidal compactifications of Shimura varieties can be computed by relative Lie algebra cohomology of automorphic forms. Our result is inspired by and parallel to Borel and Franke's work on the cohomology of automorphic local systems on locally symmetric spaces, and also generalizes a theorem of Mumford.

Abstract:We compute the local cohomology of vector fields on a manifold. In the smooth case this recovers the diagonal cohomology studied in work of Losik, Guillemin, Fuks and others. In the holomorphic case this cohomology has recently appeared in work of Hennion and Kapranov in their study of the Lie algebra cohomology of vector fields on a complex manifold. Additionally, we construct explicit representatives for cocycles in Gelfand--Fuks cohomology via descent.

Abstract:We consider Lie algebroids over an algebraic space (or topological ringed space) as quasicoherent sheaves of Lie-Rinehart algebras. We express hypercohomology for a locally free Lie algebroid (not necessarily of finite rank) as a derived functor, and simplify it via Čech cohomology. Furthermore, we define the Hochschild hypercohomology of a sheaf of generalized bialgebras and study the cases of the universal enveloping algebroid and the jet algebroid of a Lie algebroid. In the sequel, we present a version of Hochschild-Kostant-Rosenberg theorem for a locally free Lie algebroid, as well as its dual version.

Abstract:We show that the complex cohomologies of Bott, Chern, and Aeppli and the symplectic cohomologies of Tseng and Yau arise in the context of type II string theory. Specifically, they can be used to count a subset of scalar moduli fields in Minkowski compactification with RR fluxes in the presence of either O5/D5 or O6/D6 brane sources, respectively. Further, we introduce a new set of cohomologies within the generalized complex geometry framework which interpolate between these known complex and symplectic cohomologies. The generalized complex cohomologies play the analogous role for counting massless fields for a general supersymmetric Minkowski type II compactification with Ramond-Ramond flux.

Abstract:The equivariant cohomology of certain moduli spaces of sheaves on isotrivial elliptic surfaces are shown to admit representations of infinite dimensional Lie (super)algebras. The construction is based on work of Billig and Chen-Li-Tan on vertex representations of toroidal extended affine Lie algebras, and a geometric interpretation of bc-ghost systems on Hilbert schemes of points on ruled surfaces. The role of higher-nullity toroidal extended affine lie algebras are discussed in relation to tensor products of modules of a Yangian-like associative algebra. Applications to enumerative geometry are discussed in the introduction.

Abstract:Let $(\mathfrak{g},\mathfrak{k})$ be a supersymmetric pair arising from a finite-dimensional, symmetrizable Kac-Moody superalgebra $\mathfrak{g}$. An important branching problem is to determine the finite-dimensional highest-weight $\mathfrak{g}$-modules which admit a $\mathfrak{k}$-coinvariant, and thus appear as functions in a corresponding supersymmetric space $\mathcal{G}/\mathcal{K}$. This is the super-analogue of the Cartan-Helgason theorem. We solve this problem via a rank one reduction and an understanding of reflections in singular roots, which generalize odd reflections in the theory of Kac-Moody superalgebras. An explicit presentation of spherical weights is provided for every pair when $\mathfrak{g}$ is indecomposable.

Abstract:We develop a new cohomology theory for finite-dimensional left-symmetric color algebras and their finite-dimensional bimodules, establishing a connection between Lie color cohomology and left-symmetric color cohomology. We prove that the cohomology of a left-symmetric color algebra $A$ with coefficients in a bimodule $V$ can be computed by a lower degree cohomology of the corresponding Lie color algebra with coefficients in Hom$(A,V)$, generalizing a result of Dzhumadil'daev in right-symmetric cohomology. We also explore the varieties of two-dimensional and three-dimensional left-symmetric color algebras.

Abstract:We describe a bigraded cocommutative Hopf algebra structure on the weight zero compactly supported rational cohomology of the moduli space of principally polarized abelian varieties. By relating the primitives for the coproduct to graph cohomology, we deduce that $\dim H^{2g+k}_c(\mathcal{A}_g)$ grows at least exponentially with $g$ for $k = 0$ and for all but finitely many positive integers $k$. Our proof relies on a new result of independent interest; we use a filtered variant of the Waldhausen construction to show that Quillen's spectral sequence abutting to the cohomology of $BK(\mathbb{Z})$ is a spectral sequence of Hopf algebras. From the same construction, we also deduce that $\dim H^{\binom{n}{2} - n - k}(\mathrm{SL}_n(\mathbb{Z}))$ grows at least exponentially with $n$, for $k = -1$ and for all but finitely many non-negative integers $k$.

Abstract:Affine superspace $\mathbb{C}^{1 \mid n}$ has a single bosonic coordinate $z$ and $n$ fermionic coordinates $\theta_1, \dots, \theta_n$. Let $M$ be the supertorus obtained by quotienting $\mathbb{C}^{1 \mid n}$ by the abelian group generated by the maps $S: (z,\theta_1, \dots, \theta_n) \mapsto (z + 1, \theta_1, \dots, \theta_n)$ and $T: (z, \theta_1, \dots, \theta_n) \mapsto (z + t, \theta_1 + \alpha_1, \dots, \theta_n + \alpha_n)$ where $t \in \mathbb{C}$ has positive imaginary part and $\alpha_1, \dots, \alpha_n$ are independent fermionic parameters. We compute the zeroth and first cohomology groups of the structure sheaf $\mathcal{O}$ of $M$ as doubly graded $\mathfrak{S}_n$-modules, exhibiting an instance of Serre duality between these groups. We use skein relations and noncrossing matchings to give a combinatorial presentation of $H^0(M,\mathcal{O})$ in terms of generators and relations.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to introduce and study Hom-Gel’fand–Dorfman super-bialgebras and Hom-Lie conformal superalgebras. In this paper, we provide different ways for constructing Hom-Gel’fand–Dorfman super-bialgebras. Also, we obtain some infinite-dimensional Hom-Lie superalgebras from affinization of Hom-Gel’fand–Dorfman super-bialgebras. Finally, we give a general construction of Hom-Lie conformal superalgebras from Hom-Lie superalgebras and establish the equivalence between quadratic Hom-Lie conformal superalgebras and Hom-Gel’fand–Dorfman super-bialgebras.
