Abstract:We show that the Koszul functor of a homologically smooth graded gentle algebra can be realized as the half rotation in a geometric model. As a byproduct, we prove an intersection-dim formula involving the Koszul functor.

Abstract:We discuss certain homological properties of graded algebras whose trivial modules admit nonpure resolutions. Such algebras include both of Artin-Schelter regular algebras of types (12221) and (13431). Under certain conditions, a module with nonpure resolution is decomposed to form an extension by two modules with pure resolutions.

Abstract:We are concerned with relating derived categories of all modules of two dual Koszul algebras defined by a locally bounded quiver. We first generalize the well known Acyclic Assembly Lemma and formalize an old method of extending a functor from an additive category into a complex category to its complex category. Applying this to the Koszul functor associated with a Koszul algebra defined by a gradable quiver, we obtain a Koszul complex functor, that descends to an equivalence of a continuous family of pairs of triangulated subcategories of doubly unbounded complexes of the respective derived categories of all modules of the Koszul algebra and its Koszul dual. Under this special setting, this extends Beilinson, Ginzburg and Soegel's Koszul duality. In case the Koszul algebra is right or left locally bounded and its Koszul dual is left or right locally bounded respectively (for instance, the quiver has no right infinite path or no left infinite path), our Koszul duality restricts to an equivalence of the bounded derived categories of finitely supported modules, and an equivalence of the bounded derived categories of finite dimensional modules.

Abstract:There are many structures (algebras, categories, etc) with natural gradings such that the degree 0 components are not semisimple. Particular examples include tensor algebras with non-semisimple degree 0 parts, extension algebras of standard modules of standardly stratified algebras. In this thesis we develop a generalized Koszul theory for graded algebras (categories) whose degree 0 parts may be non-semisimple. Under some extra assumption, we show that this generalized Koszul theory preserves many classical results such as the Koszul duality. Moreover, it has some close relation to the classical theory. Applications of this generalized theory to finite EI categories, directed categories, and extension algebras of standard modules of standardly stratified algebras are described. We also study the stratification property of standardly stratified algebras, and classify algebras standardly (resp., properly) stratified for all linear orders.

Abstract:We introduce a cup-cap duality in the Koszul calculus of N-homogeneous algebras. As an application, we prove that the graded symmetry of the Koszul cap product is a consequence of the graded commutativity of the Koszul cup product. We propose a conceptual approach that may lead to a proof of the graded commutativity, based on derived categories in the framework of DG algebras and DG bimodules. Various enriched structures are developed in a weaker situation corresponding to N>2.

Abstract:We discover a new connection between Koszul theory and representation theory. Let $\La$ be a quadratic algebra defined by a locally finite quiver with relations. Firstly, we give a combinatorial description of the local Koszul complexes and the quadratic dual $\La^!$, which enables us to describe the linear projective resolutions and the colinear injective coresolutions of graded simple $\La$-modules in terms of $\La^!$. As applications, we obtain a new class of Koszul algebras and a stronger version of the Extension Conjecture for finite dimensional Koszul algebras with a noetherian Koszul dual. Then we construct two Koszul functors, which induce a $2$-real-parameter family of pairs of derived Koszul functors between categories derived from graded $\La$-modules and those derived from graded $\La^!$-modules. In case $\La$ is Koszul, each pair of derived Koszul functors are mutually quasi-inverse, one of the pairs is Beilinson, Ginzburg and Soergel's Koszul duality. If $\La$ and $\La^!$ are locally bounded on opposite sides, then the Koszul functors induce two equivalences of bounded derived categories: one for finitely piece-supported graded modules, and one for finite dimensional graded modules. And if $\La$ and $\La^!$ are both locally bounded, then the bounded derived category of finite dimensional graded $\La$-modules has almost split triangles with the Auslander-Reiten translations and the Serre functors given by composites of derived Koszul functors.

Abstract:The geometric models for the module category and derived category of any gentle algebra were introduced to realize the objects in module category and derived category by permissible curves and admissible curves respectively. The present paper firstly unifies these two realizations of objects in module category and derived category via same surface for any gentle algebra, by the rotation of permissible curves corresponding to the objects in the module category. Secondly, the geometric characterization of the cohomology of complexes over gentle algebras is established by the truncation of projective permissible curves. It is worth mentioning that the rotation of permissible curves and the truncation of projective permissible curves are mutually inverse processes to some extent. As applications, an alternative proof of ``no gaps" theorem as to cohomological length for the bounded derived categories of gentle algebras is provided in terms of the geometric characterization of the cohomology of complexes. Moreover, we obtain a geometric proof for the strong Nakayama conjecture for gentle algebras. Finally, we contain two examples to illustrate our results.

Abstract:Using a homotopy introduced by de Wilde and Lecomte and homological perturbation theory for $A_\infty$-algebras, we give an explicit proof that the universal enveloping algebra $UL$ of a differential graded Lie algebra $L$ is Koszul, via an explicit contracting homotopy from the cobar construction $\Omega CL$ of the Chevalley-Eilenberg chain coalgebra $CL$ of $L$ to $UL$.

Abstract:We define generalized Koszul modules and rings and develop a generalized Koszul theory for N-graded rings with the degree zero part noetherian semiperfect. This theory specializes to the classical Koszul theory for graded rings with degree zero part artinian semisimple developed by Beilinson-Ginzburg-Soergel and the ungraded Koszul theory for noetherian semiperfect rings developed by Green and Martinez-Villa. Let A be a left finite N-graded ring generated in degree 1 with A0 noetherian semiperfect, J be its graded Jacobson radical. By the Koszul dual of A we mean the Yoneda Ext ring Ext center dot A(A/J, A/J). If A is a generalized Koszul ring and M is a generalized Koszul module, then it is proved that the Koszul dual of the Koszul dual of A is the associated graded ring GrJ A and the Koszul dual of the Koszul dual of M is the associated graded module GrJ M. If A is a locally finite algebra, then the following statements are proved to be equivalent: A is generalized Koszul; the Koszul dual Ext center dot A(A/J, A/J) of A is (classically) Koszul; GrJ A is (classically) Koszul; the opposite ring Aop of A is generalized Koszul. Abstract:Koszul algebras have arisen in many contexts; algebraic geometry, combinatorics, Lie algebras, non-commutative geometry and topology. The aim of this paper and several sequel papers is to show that for any finite dimensional algebra there is always a naturally associated Koszul theory. To obtain this, the notions of Koszul algebras, linear modules and Koszul duality are extended to additive (graded) categories over a field. The main focus of this paper is to provide these generalizations and the necessary preliminaries.

Abstract:We present an easily applicable sufficient condition for standard Koszul algebras to be Koszul with respect to $\Delta$. If a quasi-hereditary algebra $Ł$ is Koszul with respect to $\Delta$, then $Ł$ and the Yoneda extension algebra of $\Delta$ are Koszul dual in a sense explained below, implying in particular that their bounded derived categories of finitely generated graded modules are equivalent. We also prove that the extension algebra of $\Delta$ is Koszul in the classical sense.

Abstract:We give a proof of the parabolic/singular Koszul duality for the category O of affine Kac-Moody algebras. The main new tool is a relation between moment graphs and finite codimensional affine Schubert varieties. We apply this duality to q-Schur algebras and to cyclotomic rational double affine Hecke algebras. This yields a proof of a conjecture of Chuang-Miyachi relating the level-rank duality with the Ringel-Koszul duality of cyclotomic rational double affine Hecke algebras.

Abstract:Let $A = \bigoplus_{i \geqslant 0} A_i$ be a graded locally finite $k$-algebra such that $A_0$ is an arbitrary finite-dimensional algebra satisfying a certain splitting condition. In this paper we develop a generalized Koszul theory preserving many classical results. Moreover, we define a quotient graded algebra $\bar{A} = \bigoplus_{i \geqslant 0} \bar{A}_i$ and show that $A$ is a generalized Koszul algebra if and only if $\bar{A}$ is a classical Koszul algebra and a projective $A_0$-module. We also describe an application of this theory to the extension algebras of standard modules of standardly stratified algebras.

Abstract:We consider the category of modules over sheaves of Deformation-Quantization (DQ) algebras on bionic symplectic varieties. These spaces are equipped with both an elliptic $\mathbb{G}_m$-action and a Hamiltonian $\mathbb{G}_m$-action, with finitely many fixed points. On these spaces one can consider geometric category $\mathcal{O}$: the category of (holonomic) modules supported on the Lagrangian attracting set of the Hamiltonian action. We show that there exists a local generator in geometric category $\mathcal{O}$ whose dg endomorphism ring, cohomologically supported on the Lagrangian attracting set, is derived equivalent to the category of all DQ-modules. This is a version of Koszul duality generalizing the equivalence between D-modules on a smooth variety and dg-modules over the de Rham complex.

Abstract:We prove that a nilpotent space is both formal and coformal if and only if it is rationally homotopy equivalent to the derived spatial realization of a graded commutative Koszul algebra. We call such spaces Koszul spaces and we show that the rational homotopy groups and the rational homology of iterated loop spaces of Koszul spaces can be computed by applying certain Koszul duality constructions to the cohomology algebra.

Abstract:We give a topological description of Ext groups between simple representations of categories via a nerve type construction. We use it to show that the Koszulity of indiscretely based category algebras is equivalent to the locally Cohen-Macaulay property of this nerve. We also provide a class of functors which preserve the Koszulity of category algebras called almost discrete fibrations. Specializing from categories to posets, we show that the equivalence relations of V. Reiner and D. Stamate in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="0904.1683" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/0904.1683">arXiv:0904.1683</a> [math.AC] are exactly almost discrete fibrations and recover their results. As an application, we classify when a shifted dual collection to a full strong exceptional collection of line bundles on a toric variety is strong.

Abstract:It is shown that, the quasi-Koszulities of algebras and modules are Morita invariance. A finite-dimensional $K$-algebra $A$ with an action of $G$ is quasi-Koszul if and only if so is the skew group algebra $A \ast G$, where $G$ is a finite group satisfying $\char K \nmid |G|$. A finite-dimensional $G$-graded $K$-algebra $A$ is quasi-Koszul if and only if so is the smash product $A # G^*$, where $G$ is a finite group satisfying $\char K \nmid |G|$. These results are applied to prove that, if a finite-dimensional connected quiver algebra is Koszul then so are its Galois covering algebras with finite Galois group $G$ satisfying $\char K \nmid |G|$. So one can construct Koszul algebras by finite Galois covering. Moreover, a general construction of Koszul algebras by Galois covering with finite cyclic Galois group is provided. As examples, many Koszul algebras are constructed from exterior algebras and Koszul preprojective algebras by finite Galois covering with either cyclic or noncyclic Galois group.

Abstract:We give a complete picture of the interaction between Koszul and Ringel dualities for graded standardly stratified algebras (in the sense of Cline, Parshall and Scott) admitting linear tilting (co)resolutions of standard and proper costandard modules. We single out a certain class of graded standardly stratified algebras imposing the condition that standard filtrations of projective modules are finite, and develop the tilting theory for such algebras. Under the assumption of existence of linear tilting (co)resolutions we show that algebras from this class are Koszul, that both Ringel and Koszul duals belong to the class, and that these two dualities on this class commute.
