Abstract:The zero-divisor graph $\Gamma(R)$ of an associative ring $R$ is the graph whose vertices are all nonzero zero-divisors (one-sided and two-sided) of $R$, and two distinct vertices $x$ and $y$ are joined by an edge iff either $xy=0$ or $yx=0$. In the present paper, we study some properties of ring varieties where every finite ring is uniquely determined by its zero-divisor graph.

Abstract:Inspired by a very recent work of A. Ðurić, S. Jevđenić and N. Stopar, we introduce a new definition of zero-divisor graphs attached to rings, that includes all of the classical definitions already known in the literature. We provide an interpretation of such graphs as images of a functor, that we call zero-divisor functor and which is associated with a family of special equivalence relations fixed beforehand. We thus recover and generalize many known results for zero-divisor graphs and provide a framework which might be useful for further investigations on this topic.

Abstract:Let R be a commutative ring with nonzero identity and Z(R) be its set of zero-divisors. The new extension of the zero-divisor graph $\widetilde{\Gamma }(R)$ with vertices $Z(R)^{\star }$, and two distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if and only if $xy=0$ or $x+y\in Z(R)$. In this article, we study, in the general case, the graph $\widetilde{\Gamma }(R)$. For any commutative ring R, we provide sufficient and necessary conditions for $\widetilde{\Gamma }(R)$ and $\widetilde{\Gamma }(R[x_1,\dots , x_n])$ to be complete. At last, we present some other properties of this new extension of the zero-divisor graph.

Abstract:For a ring $R$, the zero-divisor graph is a simple graph $\Gamma(R)$ whose vertex set is the set of all non-zero zero-divisors in a ring $R$, and two distinct vertices $x$ and $y$ are adjacent if and only if $xy=0$ or $yx=0$ in $R$. By using Weyl's inequality we give bounds on eigenvalues of adjacency matrix of $\Gamma(M_2(F))$, where $M_2(F)$ is a $2 \times 2$ matrix ring over a finite field $F$.

A note on eigenvalues of zero divisor graphs associated with commutative rings

Abstract:For a commutative ring $R,$ with non-zero zero divisors $Z^{\ast}(R)$. The zero divisor graph $\Gamma(R)$ is a simple graph with vertex set $Z^{\ast}(R)$, and two distinct vertices $x,y\in V(\Gamma(R))$ are adjacent if and only if $x\cdot y=0.$ In this note, we provide counter examples to the eigenvalues, the energy and the second Zagreb index related to zero divisor graphs of rings obtained in [Johnson and Sankar, J. Appl. Math. Comp. (2023), \cite{johnson}]. We correct the eigenvalues (energy) and the Zagreb index result for the zero divisor graphs of ring $\mathbb{Z}_{p}[x]/\langle x^{4} \rangle.$ We show that for any prime $p$, $\Gamma(\mathbb{Z}_{p}[x]/\langle x^{4} \rangle)$ is non-hyperenergetic and for prime $p\geq 3$, $\Gamma(\mathbb{Z}_{p}[x]/\langle x^{4} \rangle)$ is hypoenergetic. We give a formulae for the topological indices of $\Gamma(\mathbb{Z}_{p}[x]/\langle x^{4} \rangle)$ and show that its Zagreb indices satisfy Hansen and Vuki$\check{c}$cević conjecture \cite{hansen}.

Abstract:A commutative ring over a graph was first studied by Beck in 1988. The properties of zero-divisor graphs of commutative and non-commutative rings were then studied extensively. The commutative ring over graph is also widely used in robotics, communication theory, and elliptic curve cryptography. In this paper, we derive a few degree-based topological expressions namely, the first Zagreb index and the forgotten index of zero-divisor graphs of , and where p and q are primes. The numerical expression of the zero-divisor graphs is analysed and compared the indices graphically and numerically.

Abstract:Let R be a commutative ring and Z(R) be its set of all zero-divisors. The total graph of R, denoted by TΓ(R), is the undirected graph with vertex set R, and two distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if and only if x + y ∈ Z(R). Maimani et al. [13] determined all isomorphism classes of finite commutative rings whose total graph has genus at most one. In this article, after enumerating certain lower and upper bounds for genus of the total graph of a commutative ring, we characterize all isomorphism classes of finite commutative rings whose total graph has genus two.

Abstract:Let R be a commutative ring with unity and R+ and Z*(R) be the additive group and the set of all nonzero zero-divisors of R, respectively. We denote by ℂ𝔸𝕐(R) the Cayley graph Cay(R+, Z*(R)). In this article, we study ℂ𝔸𝕐(R). Among other results, it is shown that for every zero-dimensional nonlocal ring R, ℂ𝔸𝕐(R) is a connected graph of diameter 2. Moreover, for a finite ring R, we obtain the vertex connectivity and the edge connectivity of ℂ𝔸𝕐(R). As a result, ℂ𝔸𝕐(R) gives an algebraic construction for vertex transitive graphs of maximum connectivity. In addition, we characterize all zero-dimensional semilocal rings R whose ℂ𝔸𝕐(R) is perfect. We also study Reg(ℂ𝔸𝕐(R)) the induced subgraph on the regular elements of R. This graph gives a family of vertex transitive graphs as well. We show that if R is a Noetherian ring and Reg(ℂ𝔸𝕐(R)) has no infinite clique, then R is finite. Furthermore, for every finite ring R, the clique number and the chromatic number of Reg(ℂ𝔸𝕐(R)) are determined.

The total graph of R, denoted by T Γ(R), is the undirected graph with vertex set R and two distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if and only if x + y ∈ Z(R). denotes the complement of T Γ(R). The study on total graphs has been initiated by D. F. Anderson and A. Badawi [2]. In this article, we characterize all commutative rings whose total graph (or its complement) is in some known class of graphs. Also we determine the structure whenever |Reg(R)| = 2. Further, we obtain certain necessary conditions for to be connected whenever is connected and prove that . It is also proved that if diam(T Γ(R)) = 2, then T Γ(R) is Hamiltonian, which is a generalization of a characterization proved by S. Akbari et al. [1].

Abstract:Let $S$ be a semigroup with $0$ and $R$ be a ring with $1$. We extend the definition of the zero-divisor graphs of commutative semigroups to not necessarily commutative semigroups. We define an annihilating-ideal graph of a ring as a special type of zero-divisor graph of a semigroup. We introduce two ways to define the zero-divisor graphs of semigroups. The first definition gives a directed graph ${\Gamma}(S)$, and the other definition yields an undirected graph $\overline{\Gamma}(S)$. It is shown that $\Gamma(S)$ is not necessarily connected, but $\overline{\Gamma}(S)$ is always connected and ${\rm diam}(\overline{\Gamma}(S))\leq 3$. For a ring $R$ define a directed graph $\Bbb{APOG}(R)$ to be equal to $\Gamma(\Bbb{IPO}(R))$, where $\Bbb{IPO}(R)$ is a semigroup consisting of all products of two one-sided ideals of $R$, and define an undirected graph $\overline{\Bbb{APOG}}(R)$ to be equal to $\overline{\Gamma}(\Bbb{IPO}(R))$. We show that $R$ is an Artinian (resp., Noetherian) ring if and only if $\Bbb{APOG}(R)$ has DCC (resp., ACC) on some special subset of its vertices. Also, It is shown that $\overline{\Bbb{APOG}}(R)$ is a complete graph if and only if either $(D(R))^{2}=0$, $R$ is a direct product of two division rings, or $R$ is a local ring with maximal ideal $\mathfrak{m}$ such that $\Bbb{IPO}(R)=\{0,\mathfrak{m},\mathfrak{m}^{2}, R\}$. Finally, we investigate the diameter and the girth of square matrix rings over commutative rings $M_{n\times n}(R)$ where $n\geq 2$.

Abstract:This article investigates the concept of dominant metric dimensions in zero divisor graphs (ZD-graphs) associated with rings. Consider a finite commutative ring with unity, denoted as R, where nonzero elements x and y are identified as zero divisors if their product results in zero (x.y=0). The set of zero divisors in ring R is referred to as L(R). To analyze various algebraic properties of R, a graph known as the zero-divisor graph is constructed using L(R). This manuscript establishes specific general bounds for the dominant metric dimension (Ddim) concerning the ZD-graph of R. To achieve this objective, we examine the zero divisor graphs for specific rings, such as the ring of Gaussian integers modulo m, denoted as Zm[i], the ring of integers modulo n, denoted as Zn, and some quotient polynomial rings. Our research unveils new insights into the structural similarities and differences among commutative rings sharing identical metric dimensions and dominant metric dimensions. Additionally, we present a general result outlining bounds for the dominant metric dimension expressed in terms of the maximum degree, girth, clique number, and diameter of the associated ZD-graphs. Through this exploration, we aim to provide a comprehensive framework for analyzing commutative rings and their associated zero divisor graphs, thereby advancing both theoretical knowledge and practical applications in diverse domains.

Abstract:In this paper, nonzero component graphs and nonzero component union graphs of finite dimensional vector space are studied using the zero-divisor graph of specially constructed 0-1-distributive lattice and the zero-divisor graph of rings. Further, we define an equivalence relation on nonzero component graphs and nonzero component union graphs to deduce that these graphs are the graph join of zero-divisor graphs of Boolean algebras and complete graphs. In the last section, we characterize the perfect and chordal nonzero component graphs and nonzero component union graphs.

Abstract:Let $R$ be a commutative ring and $I$ be an ideal of $R$. The amalgamated duplication of $R$ along $I$ is the subring $R\Join I:=\{(r,r+i)| r\in R, i\in I\}$ of $R\times R$. This paper investigates the extended zero-divisor graph of the amalgamated duplication of $R$ along $I$. The purpose of this work is to study when $\overline{\Gamma}(R\Join I)$ and $\Gamma(R\Join I)$ coincide, to characterize when $\overline{\Gamma}(R\Join I)$ is complete, and to compute the diameter and the girth of $\overline{\Gamma}(R\Join I)$.
