Abstract:We calculate the Wiener index of the zero-divisor graph of a finite semisimple ring. We also calculate the Wiener complexity of the zero-divisor graph of a finite simple ring and find an upper bound for the Wiener complexity in the semisimple case.

Abstract:For a commutative ring $R,$ with non-zero zero divisors $Z^{\ast}(R)$. The zero divisor graph $\Gamma(R)$ is a simple graph with vertex set $Z^{\ast}(R)$, and two distinct vertices $x,y\in V(\Gamma(R))$ are adjacent if and only if $x\cdot y=0.$ In this note, we provide counter examples to the eigenvalues, the energy and the second Zagreb index related to zero divisor graphs of rings obtained in [Johnson and Sankar, J. Appl. Math. Comp. (2023), \cite{johnson}]. We correct the eigenvalues (energy) and the Zagreb index result for the zero divisor graphs of ring $\mathbb{Z}_{p}[x]/\langle x^{4} \rangle.$ We show that for any prime $p$, $\Gamma(\mathbb{Z}_{p}[x]/\langle x^{4} \rangle)$ is non-hyperenergetic and for prime $p\geq 3$, $\Gamma(\mathbb{Z}_{p}[x]/\langle x^{4} \rangle)$ is hypoenergetic. We give a formulae for the topological indices of $\Gamma(\mathbb{Z}_{p}[x]/\langle x^{4} \rangle)$ and show that its Zagreb indices satisfy Hansen and Vuki$\check{c}$cević conjecture \cite{hansen}.

Abstract:A commutative ring over a graph was first studied by Beck in 1988. The properties of zero-divisor graphs of commutative and non-commutative rings were then studied extensively. The commutative ring over graph is also widely used in robotics, communication theory, and elliptic curve cryptography. In this paper, we derive a few degree-based topological expressions namely, the first Zagreb index and the forgotten index of zero-divisor graphs of , and where p and q are primes. The numerical expression of the zero-divisor graphs is analysed and compared the indices graphically and numerically.

Abstract:For a ring $R$, the zero-divisor graph is a simple graph $\Gamma(R)$ whose vertex set is the set of all non-zero zero-divisors in a ring $R$, and two distinct vertices $x$ and $y$ are adjacent if and only if $xy=0$ or $yx=0$ in $R$. By using Weyl's inequality we give bounds on eigenvalues of adjacency matrix of $\Gamma(M_2(F))$, where $M_2(F)$ is a $2 \times 2$ matrix ring over a finite field $F$.

Abstract:In this article, explicit formulas for finding the determining number and the metric dimension of the zero-divisor graph of Z_n and non-Boolean semisimple rings are given. In the case of Boolean rings, an upper bound of the determining number and the metric dimension of zero-divisor graph is determined. Further, the determining number and the metric dimension of some important graphs other than zero-divisor graphs, are proved and the open problem by Boutin, regarding the determining number of graphs is settled.

The topological index is utilized as a significant tool in the study of the quantitative structure activity relationship (QSAR) and quantitative structures property relationship (QSPR) which correlate a molecular structure to its different properties and activities. Graphs containing finite commutative rings have wide applications in robotics, information and communication theory, elliptic curve cryptography, physics, and statistics. Abstract:Fullerenes are molecules that can be presented in the form of cage-like polyhedra, consisting only of carbon atoms. Fullerene graphs are mathematical models of fullerene molecules. The transmission of a vertex v of a graph is a local graph invariant defined as the sum of distances from v to all the other vertices. The number of different vertex transmissions is called the Wiener complexity of a graph. Some calculation results on the Wiener complexity and the Wiener index of fullerene graphs of order n ≤ 232 and IPR fullerene graphs of order n ≤ 270 are presented. The structure of graphs with the maximal Wiener complexity or the maximal Wiener index is discussed, and formulas for the Wiener index of several families of graphs are obtained.

Abstract:Let R be a commutative ring with nonzero identity and Z(R) be its set of zero-divisors. The new extension of the zero-divisor graph $\widetilde{\Gamma }(R)$ with vertices $Z(R)^{\star }$, and two distinct vertices x and y are adjacent if and only if $xy=0$ or $x+y\in Z(R)$. In this article, we study, in the general case, the graph $\widetilde{\Gamma }(R)$. For any commutative ring R, we provide sufficient and necessary conditions for $\widetilde{\Gamma }(R)$ and $\widetilde{\Gamma }(R[x_1,\dots , x_n])$ to be complete. At last, we present some other properties of this new extension of the zero-divisor graph.

Abstract:Inspired by a very recent work of A. Ðurić, S. Jevđenić and N. Stopar, we introduce a new definition of zero-divisor graphs attached to rings, that includes all of the classical definitions already known in the literature. We provide an interpretation of such graphs as images of a functor, that we call zero-divisor functor and which is associated with a family of special equivalence relations fixed beforehand. We thus recover and generalize many known results for zero-divisor graphs and provide a framework which might be useful for further investigations on this topic.

Abstract:Let R be a commutative ring with unity and R+ and Z*(R) be the additive group and the set of all nonzero zero-divisors of R, respectively. We denote by ℂ𝔸𝕐(R) the Cayley graph Cay(R+, Z*(R)). In this article, we study ℂ𝔸𝕐(R). Among other results, it is shown that for every zero-dimensional nonlocal ring R, ℂ𝔸𝕐(R) is a connected graph of diameter 2. Moreover, for a finite ring R, we obtain the vertex connectivity and the edge connectivity of ℂ𝔸𝕐(R). As a result, ℂ𝔸𝕐(R) gives an algebraic construction for vertex transitive graphs of maximum connectivity. In addition, we characterize all zero-dimensional semilocal rings R whose ℂ𝔸𝕐(R) is perfect. We also study Reg(ℂ𝔸𝕐(R)) the induced subgraph on the regular elements of R. This graph gives a family of vertex transitive graphs as well. We show that if R is a Noetherian ring and Reg(ℂ𝔸𝕐(R)) has no infinite clique, then R is finite. Furthermore, for every finite ring R, the clique number and the chromatic number of Reg(ℂ𝔸𝕐(R)) are determined.

Abstract:The Wiener index of a finite graph $G$ is the sum over all pairs $(p,q)$ of vertices of $G$ of the distance between $p$ and $q$. When $P$ is a finite poset, we define its Wiener index as the Wiener index of the graph of its Hasse diagram. In this paper, we find exact expressions for the Wiener indices of the distributive lattices of order ideals in minuscule posets. For infinite families of such posets, we also provide results on the asymptotic distribution of the distance between two random order ideals.

Abstract:We give a characterization of zero divisors of the ring $C[a,b].$ Using the Weierstrass approximation theorem, we completely characterize topological divisors of zero of the Banach algebra $C[a,b].$ We also characterize the zero divisors and topological divisors of zero in $\ell^\infty.$ Further, we show that zero is the only zero divisor in the disk algebra $\mathscr{A}(\mathbb{D})$ and that the class of singular elements in $\mathscr{A}(\mathbb{D})$ properly contains the class of topological divisors of zero. Lastly, we construct a class of topological divisors of zero of $\mathscr{A}(\mathbb{D})$ which are not zero divisors.

Abstract:The paper systematically classifies rings based on the dominant metric dimensions (Ddim) of their associated CZDG, establishing consequential bounds for the Ddim of these compressed zero-divisor graphs. The authors investigate the interplay between the ring-theoretic properties of a ring ( R ) and associated CZDG. An undirected graph consisting of vertex set ( Z(R_E)\{[0]}\ =\ R_E\{[0],[1]}), where ( R_E=\{[x]:\ x\in R\} ) and ([x]=\{y\in R:\ \text{ann}(x)=\text{ann}(y)\} ) is called a compressed zero-divisor graph, denoted by ( \Gamma_E(R) ). An edge is formed between two vertices ([x]) and ([y]) of ( Z(R_E) ) if and only if ([x][y]=[xy]=[0]), that is, iff ( xy=0 ). For a ring ( R ), graph ( G ) is said to be realizable as ( \Gamma_E(R) ) if ( G ) is isomorphic to ( \Gamma_E(R) ). Moreover, an exploration into the Ddim of realizable graphs for rings is conducted, complemented by illustrative examples reinforcing the presented results. Abstract:This article investigates the concept of dominant metric dimensions in zero divisor graphs (ZD-graphs) associated with rings. Consider a finite commutative ring with unity, denoted as R, where nonzero elements x and y are identified as zero divisors if their product results in zero (x.y=0). The set of zero divisors in ring R is referred to as L(R). To analyze various algebraic properties of R, a graph known as the zero-divisor graph is constructed using L(R). This manuscript establishes specific general bounds for the dominant metric dimension (Ddim) concerning the ZD-graph of R. To achieve this objective, we examine the zero divisor graphs for specific rings, such as the ring of Gaussian integers modulo m, denoted as Zm[i], the ring of integers modulo n, denoted as Zn, and some quotient polynomial rings. Our research unveils new insights into the structural similarities and differences among commutative rings sharing identical metric dimensions and dominant metric dimensions. Additionally, we present a general result outlining bounds for the dominant metric dimension expressed in terms of the maximum degree, girth, clique number, and diameter of the associated ZD-graphs. Through this exploration, we aim to provide a comprehensive framework for analyzing commutative rings and their associated zero divisor graphs, thereby advancing both theoretical knowledge and practical applications in diverse domains.
