Abstract:Abstract Let be a subset of a Hilbert space. We prove that if is such that for all and all non‐negative that add up to one, then for any 1‐Lipschitz , with , there exists a 1‐Lipschitz extension of such that the uniform distance on between and is the same as the uniform distance on between and . Moreover, if either or is convex, we prove the converse: We show that a map that allows for a 1‐Lipschitz, uniform distance preserving extension of any 1‐Lipschitz map on a subset of also satisfies the above set of inequalities. We also prove a similar continuity result concerning extensions of monotone maps. Our results hold true also for maps taking values in infinite‐dimensional spaces.

On Stronger Forms of Expansivity

Abstract:We define the concept of stronger forms of positively expansive map and name it as $p \:\mathscr{F}-$expansive maps. Here $\mathscr{F}$ is a family of subsets of $\mathbb{N}$. Examples of positively thick expansive and positively syndetic expansive maps are constructed here. Also, we obtain conditions under which a positively expansive map is positively co--finite expansive and positively syndetic expansive maps. Further, we study several properties of $p \:\mathscr{F}-$expansive maps. A characterization of $p \:\mathscr{F}-$expansive maps in terms of $p \:\mathscr{F}^*-$generator is obtained. Here $p \:\mathscr{F}^*$ is dual of $\mathscr{F}$. Considering $(\mathbb{Z},+)$ as a semigroup, we study $\mathscr{F}-$expansive homeomorphism, where $\mathscr{F}$ is a family of subsets of $\mathbb{Z} \setminus \{0\}$. We show that there does not exists an expansive homeomorphism on a compact metric space which is $\mathscr{F}_s-$expansive. Also, we study relation between $\mathscr{F}-$expansivity of $f$ and the shift map $\sigma_f$ on the inverse limit space.

Abstract:We study mapping properties of two-dimensional linear integral operators in some weighted spaces with special kernels. The considered spaces are certain variant of Sobolev--Slobodetskii spaces and their generalizations related to Banach spaces. Sufficient conditions for boundedness for such operators in these spaces are obtained.

Abstract:We prove local central limit theorems for partial sums of the form \newline $\,S_n=\sum_{j=0}^{n-1}f_j\circ T_{j-1}\circ\cdots\circ T_1\circ T_0$ where $f_j$ are uniformly Hölder functions and $T_j$ are expanding maps. Using a symbolic representation a similar result follows for maps $T_j$ in a small $C^1$ neighborhood of an Axiom A map and Hölder continuous functions $f_j$. All of our results are already new when all maps are the same $T_j=T$ but observables $(f_j)$ are different. The current paper compliments [43] where Berry--Esseen theorems are obtained. An important step in the proof is developing an appropriate reduction theory in the sequential case.

The Rademacher theorem asserts that Lipschitz continuous functions between Euclidean spaces are differentiable almost everywhere. In this work we extend this result to set-valued maps using an adequate notion of set-valued differentiability relating to convex processes. Our approach uses the Rademacher theorem but also recovers it as a special case.

Abstract:We derive new variants of the quantitative Borel--Cantelli lemma and apply them to analysis of statistical properties for some dynamical systems. We consider intermittent maps of $(0,1]$ which have absolutely continuous invariant probability measures. In particular, we prove that every sequence of intervals with left endpoints uniformly separated from zero is the strong Borel--Cantelli sequence with respect to such map and invariant measure.

Abstract:We study the action and properties of a differential operator in the polydisk, extending some classical results from the unit disk. Using so called dyadic decomposition of the polydisk we find precise connections between quazinorms of holomorphic function in the polydisk with quazinorms on the subframe and the unit disk. All our results were previously well-known in the unit disk.

Abstract:We will establish several arithmetic and geometric properties regarding the bi-sequences of approximation coefficients (BAC) associated with the two one-parameter families of piecewise-continuous Mobius transformations introduced by Haas and Molnar. The Gauss and Renyi maps, which lead to the expansions of irrational numbers on the interval as regular and backwards continued fractions, are realized as special cases. The results are natural generalizations of theorems from Diophantine approximation.

Abstract:We prove that for any given modulus of continuity there exist (uncountably many) uniformly expanding maps of the circle whose derivatives have as an optimal modulus of continuity and which preserve an invariant probability measure equivalent to Lebesgue whose density is -continuous, and also (uncountably many) uniformly expanding maps of the circle whose derivatives have as an optimal modulus of continuity which preserve Lebesgue measure. Moreover, we show that many of these maps, including those which preserve Lebesgue measure, have unbounded distortion.

Abstract:Coarse expanding conformal systems were introduced by P. Haïssinsky and K. M. Pilgrim to study the essential dynamical properties of certain rational maps on the Riemann sphere in complex dynamics from the point of view of Sullivan's dictionary. In this paper, we prove that for a metric coarse expanding conformal system $f\colon(\mathfrak{X}_1,X)\rightarrow (\mathfrak{X}_0,X)$ with repellor $X$, the map $f|_X\colon X\rightarrow X$ is asymptotically $h$-expansive. Moreover, we show that $f|_X$ is not $h$-expansive if there exists at least one branch point in the repellor. As a consequence of asymptotic $h$-expansiveness, for $f|_X$ and each real-valued continuous potential on $X$, there exists at least one equilibrium state. For such maps, if some additional assumptions are satisfied, we can furthermore establish a level-$2$ large deviation principle for iterated preimages, followed by an equidistribution result.

Abstract:We consider open discrete mappings that satisfy the modulus condition of the inverse Poletsky inequality type. We study the case when the majorant in it is integrable, or more generally, has finite averages over infinitesimal spheres. We proved that such mappings have a continuous extension to an isolated point of the boundary of some domain without any a priori requirements on the corresponding mapped domain for integrable majorants. In the case of majorants, integrable on spheres, we require only the boundedness of the mapped domain. We do not require any other topological conditions on the mappings.

Abstract:We visit a previously proposed discontinuous, two-parameter generalization of the continuous, one-parameter logistic map and present exhaustive numerical studies of the behavior for different values of the two parameters and initial points. In particular, routes to chaos exist that do not exhibit period-doubling whereas period-doubling is the sole route to chaos in the logistic map. Aperiodic maps are found that lead to cobwebs with x = infinity as accumulation points, where every neighborhood contains infinitely many points generated by the map.
