Abstract:The Fibonacci polynomials are defined recursively as $f_{n}(x)=xf_{n-1}(x)+f_{n-2}(x)$, where $f_0(x) = 0$ and $f_1(x)= 1$. We generalize these polynomials to an arbitrary number of variables with the $r$-Fibonacci polynomial. We extend several well-known results such as the explicit Binet formula and a Cassini-like identity, and use these to prove that the $r$-Fibonacci polynomials are irreducible over $\mathbb{C}$ for $n \geq r \geq 3$. Additionally, we derive an explicit sum formula and a generalized generating function. Using these results, we establish connections to ordinary Bell polynomials, exponential Bell polynomials, Fubini numbers, and integer and set partitions.

Abstract:In this paper we consider particular generalized compositions of a natural number with a given number of parts. Its number is a weighted polynomial coefficient. The number of all generalized compositions of a natural number is a weighted $r$-generalized Fibonacci number. A relationship between these two numbers will be derived. We shall thus obtain a generalization of the well-known formula connecting Fibonacci numbers with the binomial coefficients.

Abstract:Denote by $\Sigma n^m$ the sum of the $m$-th powers of the first $n$ positive integers $1^m+2^m+\ldots +n^m$. Similarly let $\Sigma^r n^m$ be the $r$-fold sum of the $m$-th powers of the first $n$ positive integers, defined such that $\Sigma^0 n^{m}=n^m$, and then recursively by $\Sigma^{r+1} n^{m}=\Sigma^{r} 1^{m}+\Sigma^{r} 2^{m}+\ldots + \Sigma^{r} n^{m}$. During the early 17th-century, polynomial expressions for the sums $\Sigma^r n^m$ and their factorisation and polynomial basis representation properties were examined by Johann Faulhaber, who published some remarkable theorems relating to these $r$-fold sums in his Academia Algebrae (1631). In this paper we consider families of polynomials related to the Fibonacci and Lucas polynomials which naturally lend themselves to representing sums and differences of integer powers, as well as $\Sigma^r n^m$. Using summations over polynomial basis representations for monomials we generalise this sum for any polynomial $q(x)\in\mathbb{Q}[x]$, encountering some interesting coefficient families in the process. Other results include using our polynomial expressions to state some theorems of Fermat, where in particular, we obtain an explicit expression for the quotient in Fermat's Little Theorem. In the final two sections we examine these sums in the context of the three pairs of Stirling number varieties and binomial decompositions. We also derive an expression for $\Sigma n^m$ in terms of the Stirling numbers and Pochhammer symbols, leading to a seemingly new relation between the Stirling numbers and the Bernoulli numbers.

Abstract:Let $(F_n)_{n \geq 1}$ be the sequence of Fibonacci numbers. For all integers $a$ and $b \geq 1$ with $\gcd(a, b) = 1$, let $[a^{-1} \!\bmod b]$ be the multiplicative inverse of $a$ modulo $b$, which we pick in the usual set of representatives $\{0, 1, \dots, b-1\}$. Put also $[a^{-1} \!\bmod b] := \infty$ when $\gcd(a, b) > 1$. We determine all positive integers $m$ and $n$ such that $[F_m^{-1} \bmod F_n]$ is a Fibonacci number. This extends a previous result of Prempreesuk, Noppakaew, and Pongsriiam, who considered the special case $m \in \{3, n - 3, n - 2, n - 1\}$ and $n \geq 7$. Let $(L_n)_{n \geq 1}$ be the sequence of Lucas numbers. We also determine all positive integers $m$ and $n$ such that $[L_m^{-1} \bmod L_n]$ is a Lucas number.

Abstract: In this paper, we consider some hybrid Diophantine equations of addition and multiplication. We first improve a result on new Hilbert-Waring problem. Then we consider the equation \begin{equation} \begin{cases} A+B=C ABC=D^n \end{cases} \end{equation} where $A,B,C,D,n \in\ZZ_{+}$ and $n\geq3$, which may be regarded as a generalization of Fermat's equation $x^n+y^n=z^n$. When $\gcd(A,B,C)=1$, $(1)$ is equivalent to Fermat's equation, which means it has no positive integer solutions. We discuss several cases for $\gcd(A,B,C)=p^k$ where $p$ is an odd prime. In particular, for $k=1$ we prove that $(1)$ has no nonzero integer solutions when $n=3$ and we conjecture that it is also true for any prime $n>3$. Finally, we consider equation $(1)$ in quadratic fields $\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{t})$ for $n=3$.

Abstract:We have studied several generalizations of Fibonacci sequences as the sequences with arbitrary initial values, the addition of two and more Fibonacci subsequences and Fibonacci polynomials with arbitrary bases. For Fibonacci numbers with congruent indices we derived general formula in terms of generalized Fibonacci polynomials and Lucas numbers. By extending Binet formula to arbitrary real numbers we constructed Binet-Fibonacci curve in complex plane. For positive numbers the curve is oscillating with exponentially vanishing amplitude, while for negative numbers it becomes Binet Fibonacci spiral. Comparison with the nautilus curve shows quite similar behavior. Areas under the curve and curvature characteristics are calculated, as well as the asymptotic of relative characteristics. Asymptotically for n going to infinity the region become, infinitely wide with infinitesimally small height so that the area has finite value $A_{\infty}=\frac{2}{5 \pi} ln(\varphi)$.

Abstract:We derive a new Fibonacci identity. This single identity subsumes important known identities such as those of Catalan, Ruggles, Halton and others, as well as standard general identities found in the books by Vajda, Koshy and others. We also derive several binomial and ordinary summation identities arising from this identity; in particular we obtain a generalization of Halton's general Fibonacci identity.

Abstract:Chebyshev polynomials and their modifications are attributes of various fields of mathematics. In particular, they are generating functions of the rows elements of certain Riordan matrices. In paper, we give a selection of some characteristic situations in which such matrices are involved. Using the columns and rows of these matrices, we will build the bases of the space of formal power series and the space of polynomials, the properties of which allow us to call them "Fibonacci bases".

Abstract:We generalize recent matrix-based factorization theorems for Lambert series generating functions generating the coefficients $(f \ast 1)(n)$ for some arithmetic function $f$. Our new factorization theorems provide analogs to these established expansions generating sums of the form $\sum_{d: (d,n)=1} f(d)$ (type I) and the Anderson-Apostol sums $\sum_{d|(m,n)} f(d) g(n/d)$ (type II) for any arithmetic functions $f$ and $g$. Our treatment of the type II sums includes a matrix-based factorization method relating the partition function $p(n)$ to arbitrary arithmetic functions $f$. We also conclude the last section of the article by directly expanding new formulas for an arithmetic function $g$ by the type II sums using discrete Fourier transforms for functions over inputs of greatest common divisors and by suitably defined orthogonal polynomial sequences whose weight function we can define by a discrete time Fourier transform (DTFT) involving the partition function $p(n)$. There are numerous applications and special cases of our new results which we are able to cite as examples in the article. Particular cases of the applications we give in the article include new identities for Euler's totient function, the Ramanujan sums $c_q(n)$, the generalized sum-of-divisors functions, the Mertens function which is the summatory function of the Möbius function, and the cyclotomic polynomials.

Abstract:Let {F(n)} be the Fibonacci sequence defined by F0 = 0, F1 = 1, F(n) + 1 = F(n) + F(n-1) (n greater-than-or-equal-to 1). It is well known that F(p-)(5/p) = 0 (mod p) for any odd prime p, where (-) denotes the Legendre symbol. In 1960 D.D. Wall [13] asked whether p2/F(p-)(5/p) is always impossible; up to now this is still open. In this paper the sum [GRAPHICS] is expressed in terms of Fibonacci numbers. As applications we obtain a new formula for the Fibonacci quotient F(p-)(5/p)/p and a criterion for the relation p/F(p-1)/4 (if p = 1 (mod 4)), where p not-equal 5 is an odd prime. We also prove that the affirmative answer to Wall's question implies the first case of FLT (Fermat's last theorem); from this it follows that the first case of FLT holds for those exponents which are (odd) Fibonacci primes or Lucas primes.

Abstract:The following magic trick is at the center of this paper. While the audience writes the first ten terms of a Fibonacci-like sequence (the sequence following the same recursion as the Fibonacci sequence), the magician calculates the sum of these ten terms very fast by multiplying the 7th term by 11. This trick is based on the divisibility properties of partial sums of Fibonacci-like sequences. We find the maximum Fibonacci number that divides the sum of the Fibonacci numbers 1 through $n$. We discuss the generalization of the trick for other second-order recurrences. We show that a similar trick exists for Pell-like sequences and does not exist for Jacobhstal-like sequences.

Abstract:One of the best known and oldest identities for the Fibonacci sequence $F_n$ is $F_{n+1}F_{n-1}-F_{n}^2=(-1)^n$ which was derived first by R. Simson in 1753 and it is now called as Simson or Cassini Identity. In this paper, we generalize this result to generalized m-step Fibonacci numbers and give an attractive formula. Furthermore, we present some Simson's identities of particular generalized m-step Fibonacci sequences.

Abstract:A special case of an Entry in Part II of Ramanujan's Notebooks is such that 1+15(12)2+19(1⋅32⋅4)2+⋯=Γ4(14)16π2. This formula leads us to consider the higher-order version of the above series given by replacing the squares of normalized central binomial coefficients with fourth powers. Using a Fourier–Legendre expansion introduced in a 2022 article by Cantarini, together with a multiple elliptic integral evaluation conjectured by Wan and proved by Zhou, we prove the very natural extension shown below of Ramanujan's formula: 1+15(12)4+19(1⋅32⋅4)4+⋯=Γ8(14)96π5. Furthermore, and in a closely related way, we show how a main result in an article by Papanikolas et al. concerning a Calabi–Yau threefold is equivalent to the evaluation of a Clebsch–Gordan-type multiple elliptic integral related to the work of Zhou and Brychkov.

Abstract:Let $a, b\in \mathbb{N}$ be relatively prime. Previous work showed that exactly one of the two equations $ax + by = (a-1)(b-1)/2$ and $ax + by + 1 = (a-1)(b-1)/2$ has a nonnegative, integral solution; furthermore, the solution is unique. Let $F_n$ be the $n$th Fibonacci number. When $(a,b) = (F_n, F_{n+1})$, it is known that there is an explicit formula for the unique solution $(x,y)$. We establish formulas to compute the solution when $(a,b) = (F_n^2, F_{n+1}^2)$ and $(F_n^3, F_{n+1}^3)$, giving rise to some intriguing identities involving Fibonacci numbers. Additionally, we construct a different pair of equations that admits a unique positive (instead of nonnegative), integral solution.

Abstract:We shall make use of the method of partial fractions to generalize some of Ramanujan's infinite series identities, including Ramanujan's famous formula for $\zeta(2n+1)$, and we shall also give a generalization of the transformation formula for the logarithm of the Dedekind eta function. It is shown here that the method of partial fractions can be used to obtain many similar identities of this kind.

Abstract:Consider the generalized Fibonacci sequence {qn}n=0∞ having initial conditions q0=0,q1=1 and recurrence relation qn=aqn-1+qn-2 (when n is even) or qn=bqn-1+qn-2 (when n is odd), where a and b are nonzero real numbers. These sequences arise in a natural way in the study of continued fractions of quadratic irrationals and combinatorics on words or dynamical system theory. Some well-known sequences are special cases of this generalization. The Fibonacci sequence is a special case of {qn} with a=b=1. Pell’s sequence is {qn} with a=b=2 and the k-Fibonacci sequence is {qn} with a=b=k. In this article, we study numerous new properties of these sequences and investigate a sequence closely related to these sequences which can be regarded as a generalization of Lucas sequence of the first kind.

Abstract:Related to generalized arithmetic triangle, we introduce the hyper ( r , q )-Fibonacci polynomials as the sum of these elements along a finite ray starting from a specific point, which generalize the hyper-Fibonacci polynomials. We give generating function, recurrence relations and we show some properties whose application allows us to extend the notion of Cassini determinant and to study some ratios. Moreover, we derive a connection between these polynomials and the incomplete ( r , q )-Fibonacci polynomials defined in this paper.

Abstract:This paper addresses A Pillai-Catalan-type problem assosiated with Fibonacci numbers.
