Abstract:In this paper we characterize the quotients $ X = T/G$ of a complex torus $T$ by the action of a finite group $G$ as the Kähler orbifold classifying spaces of the even Euclidean cristallographic groups $\Gamma$, and we prove other similar and stronger characterizations.

Abstract:Let $V$ be a complex linear space, $G\subset\GL(V)$ be a compact group. We consider the problem of description of polynomial hulls $\wh{Gv}$ for orbits $Gv$, $v\in V$, assuming that the identity component of $G$ is a torus $T$. The paper contains a universal construction for orbits which satisfy the inclusion $Gv\subset T^\bbC v$ and a characterization of pairs $(G,V)$ such that it is true for a generic $v\in V$. The hull of a finite union of $T$-orbits in $T^\bbC v$ can be distinguished in $\clos T^\bbC v$ by a finite collection of inequalities of the type $\abs{z_1}^{s_1}...\abs{z_n}^{s_n}\leq c$. In particular, this is true for $Gv$. If powers in the monomials are independent of $v$, $Gv\subset T^\bbC v$ for a generic $v$, and either the center of $G$ is finite or $T^\bbC$ has an open orbit, then the space $V$ and the group $G$ are products of standard ones; the latter means that $G=S_nT$, where $S_n$ is the group of all permutations of coordinates and $T$ is either $\bbT^n$ or $\SU(n)\cap\bbT^n$, where $\bbT^n$ is the torus of all diagonal matrices in $\rU(n)$. The paper also contains a description of polynomial hulls for orbits of isotropy groups of bounded symmetric domains. This result is already known, but we formulate it in a different form and supply with a shorter proof.

Abstract:We use equivariant methods to define and study the orbifold K-theory of an orbifold X. Adapting techniques from equivariant K-theory, we construct a Chern character and exhibit a multiplicative decomposition for K * orb (X)⊗ℚ, in particular showing that it is additively isomorphic to the orbifold cohomology of X. A number of examples are provided. We then use the theory of projective representations to define the notion of twisted orbifold K–theory in the presence of discrete torsion. An explicit expression for this is obtained in the case of a global quotient.

Abstract:In this article, we study the twisting procedure of orbifold cohomology. We introduce local system and construct twisted orbifold cohomology. Then, we generalize Vafa-Witten's notion of discrete torsion to general orbifold and examine its relation to local system. Finally, some examples are computed.

Abstract:We prove that if $X$ is a compact complex analytic variety, which has quotient singularities in codimension 2, then there is a projective bimeromorphic morphism $f\colon Y\to X$, such that $Y$ has quotient singularities, and that the indeterminacy locus of $f^{-1}$ has codimension at least 3 in $X$. As an application, we deduce the Bogomolov-Gieseker inequality on orbifold Chern classes for stable reflexive coherent sheaves on compact Kähler varieties which have quotient singularities in codimension 2.

Abstract:We construct and study the moduli of stable hypersurfaces in toric orbifolds. Let X be a projective toric orbifold and an ample class. The moduli space is constructed as a quotient of the linear system by . Since the group G is non-reductive in general, we use new techniques of non-reductive geometric invariant theory. Using the A-discriminant of Gelfand, Kapranov and Zelevinsky, we prove semistability for quasismooth hypersurfaces of toric orbifolds. Further, we prove the existence of a quasi-projective moduli space of quasismooth hypersurfaces in a weighted projective space when the weighted projective space satisfies a certain condition. We also discuss how to proceed when this condition is not satisfied. We prove that the automorphism group of a quasismooth hypersurface of weighted projective space is finite excluding some low degrees.

On actions of tori and quaternionic tori on products of spheres

Abstract:In this paper we study the actions of tori (standard compact tori, as well as their quaternionic analogues) on products of spheres. It is proved that the orbit space of a specific action of a torus on a product of spheres is homeomorphic to a sphere. A similar statement for a real torus $\mathbb{Z}_2^n$ was proved by the second author in 2019. We also provide a statement about arbitrary compact topological groups, generalizing the mentioned results, as well as the results of the first author about the actions of a compact torus of complexity one.

Abstract:We provide a fine classification of rigid three-dimensional torus quotients with isolated canonical singularities, up to biholomorphism and diffeomorphism. This complements the classification of Calabi-Yau 3-folds of type $\rm{III}_0$, which are those quotients with Gorenstein singularities.

Abstract:In this article we study covering spaces of symplectic toric orbifolds and symplectic toric orbifold bundles. In particular, we show that all symplectic toric orbifold coverings are quotients of some symplectic toric orbifold by a finite subgroup of a torus. We then give a general description of the labeled polytope of a toric orbifold bundle in terms of the polytopes of the fiber and the base. Finally, we apply our findings to study the number of toric structures on products of labeled projective spaces.

Abstract:We study the locus of fixed points of a torus action on a GIT quotient of a complex vector space by a reductive complex algebraic group which acts linearly. We show that, under the assumption that $G$ acts freely on the stable locus, the components of the fixed point locus are again GIT quotients of linear subspaces by Levi subgroups.

Abstract:We construct two-dimensional families of complex hyperbolic structures on disc orbibundles over the sphere with three cone points. This contrasts with the previously known examples of the same type, which are locally rigid. In particular, we obtain examples of complex hyperbolic structures on trivial and cotangent disc bundles over closed Riemann surfaces.

Abstract:We develop the theory of orbibundles from a geometrical viewpoint using diffeology. One of our goals is to present new tools allowing to calculate invariants of complex hyperbolic disc orbibundles over $2$-orbifolds appearing in the geometry of $4$-manifolds. These invariants are the Euler number of disc orbibundles and the Toledo invariant of $\mathrm{PU}(2,1)$-representations of $2$-orbifold groups.

Abstract:Hypertoric varieties are hyperkähler analogues of toric varieties, and are constructed as abelian hyperkähler quotients of a quaternionic affine space. Just as symplectic toric orbifolds are determined by labelled polytopes, orbifold hypertoric varieties are intimately related to the combinatorics of hyperplane arrangements. By developing hyperkähler analogues of symplectic techniques developed by Goldin, Holm, and Knutson, we give an explicit combinatorial description of the Chen-Ruan orbifold cohomology of an orbifold hypertoric variety in terms of the combinatorial data of a rational cooriented weighted hyperplane arrangement. We detail several explicit examples, including some computations of orbifold Betti numbers (and Euler characteristics).

Abstract:For any finite group $G$, the equivariant Gromov-Witten invariants of $[\mathbb{C}^r/G]$ can be viewed as a certain twisted Gromov-Witten invariants of the classifying stack $\mathcal{B} G$. In this paper, we use Tseng's orbifold quantum Riemann-Roch theorem to express the equivariant Gromov-Witten invariants of $[\mathbb{C}^r/G]$ as a sum over Feynman graphs, where the weight of each graph is expressed in terms of descendant integrals over moduli spaces of stable curves and representations of $G$.

Abstract:We construct explicit complex structures and transversely Kähler holomorphic foliations on $SU(3)$ corresponding to variations of real quadratic equations on a complex quadric in $\mathbb{C}^{6}$ as generalizations of left-invariant complex structures on $SU(3) $ and an invariant Kähler structure on the flag variety $SU(3)/T$.Consequently, we obtain orbifold variants of the flag variety $SU(3)/T$ as quotients of double sided torus actions.

Abstract:Let $X$ be 2n-dimensional compact manifold with a locally standard action of a compact torus. The orbit space $X/T$ is a manifold with corners. Suppose that all proper faces of $X/T$ are acyclic. In the paper we study the homological spectral sequence $E^*_{*,*}\Rightarrow H_*(X)$ corresponding to the filtration of $X$ by orbit types. When the free part of the action is not twisted, we describe the whole spectral sequence in terms of homology and combinatorial structure of $X/T$. In this case we describe the kernel and the cokernel of the natural map $k[X/T]/(l.s.o.p.) \to H_*(X)$, where $k[X/T]$ is a face ring of $X/T$ and $(l.s.o.p.)$ is the ideal generated by a linear system of parameters (this ideal appears as the image of $H^{>0}(BT)$ in equivariant cohomology. There exists a natural double grading on $H_*(X)$, which satisfies bigraded Poincare duality. This general theory is applied to compute homology groups of origami toric manifolds with acyclic proper faces of the orbit space. A number of natural generalizations is considered. These include Buchsbaum simplicial complexes and posets. h'- and h''-numbers of simplicial posets appear as the ranks of certain terms in the spectral sequence $E^*_{*,*}$. In particular, using topological argument we show that Buchsbaum posets have nonnegative h''-vectors. The proofs of this paper rely on the theory of cellular sheaves. We associate to a torus space certain sheaves and cosheaves on the underlying simplicial poset, and observe an interesting duality between these objects. This duality seems to be a version of Poincare-Verdier duality between cellular sheaves and cosheaves.

Generalized complex structure on certain principal torus bundles

Abstract:A principal torus bundle over a complex manifold with even dimensional fiber and characteristic class of type $(1,1)$ admits a family of regular generalized complex structures (GCS) with the fibers as leaves of the associated symplectic foliation. We show that such a generalized complex structure is equivalent to the product of the complex structure on the base and the symplectic structure on the fiber in a tubular neighborhood of an arbitrary fiber if and only if the bundle is flat. This has consequences for the generalized Dolbeault cohomology of the bundle that includes a Künneth formula. On a more general note, if a principal bundle over a complex manifold with a symplectic structure group admits a GCS with the fibers of the bundle as leaves of the associated symplectic foliation, and the GCS is equivalent to a product GCS in a neighborhood of every fiber, then the bundle is flat and symplectic.
