Abstract:We prove a correspondence between Donaldson-Thomas invariants of quivers with potential having trivial attractor invariants and genus zero punctured Gromov-Witten invariants of holomorphic symplectic cluster varieties. The proof relies on the comparison of the stability scattering diagram, describing the wall-crossing behavior of Donaldson-Thomas invariants, with a scattering diagram capturing punctured Gromov-Witten invariants via tropical geometry.

Abstract:For any finite abelian group G, the equivariant Gromov-Witten invariants of C^r/G can be viewed as a certain kind of abelian Hurwitz-Hodge integrals. In this note, we use Tseng's orbifold quantum Riemann-Roch theorem to express this kind of abelian Hurwitz-Hodge integrals as a sum over Feynman graphs, where the weight of each graph is expressed in terms of descendant integrals over moduli spaces of stable curves and representations of G. This expression will play a crucial role in the proof of the remodeling conjecture (arXiv:0709.1453, arXiv:0807.0597) for affine toric Calabi-Yau 3-orbifolds in arXiv:1310.4818.

Super Gromov-Witten Invariants via torus localization

Abstract:In this article we propose a definition of super Gromov-Witten invariants by postulating a torus localization property for the odd directions of the moduli spaces of super stable maps and super stable curves of genus zero. That is, we define super Gromov-Witten invariants as the integral over the pullback of homology classes along the evaluation maps divided by the equivariant Euler class of the normal bundle of the embedding of the moduli space of stable spin maps into the moduli space of super stable maps. This definition sidesteps the difficulties of defining a supergeometric intersection theory and works with classical intersection theory only. The properties of the normal bundles, known from the differential geometric construction of the moduli space of super stable maps, imply that super Gromov-Witten invariants satisfy a generalization of Kontsevich-Manin axioms and allow for the construction of a super small quantum cohomology ring. We describe a method to calculate super Gromov-Witten invariants of $\mathbb{P}^n$ of genus zero by a further geometric torus localization and give explicit numbers in degree one when dimension and number of marked points are small.

Abstract:We propose a unified perspective on two sets of objects that usually arise in the study of bipartite field theories. Each of the sets consists of a polytope, or equivalently a toric Calabi-Yau, and a quiver theory. We refer to the two sets of objects as original and twin. In the simplest cases, the two sides of the correspondence are connected by the graph operation known as untwisting. The democratic treatment that we advocate raises new questions regarding the connections between these objects, some of which we explore. With this motivation in mind, we establish a correspondence between the mutations of the original polytope and the twin quiver. This leads us to propose that non-toric twin quivers are naturally associated to generalized toric polygons (GTPs) and we explore various aspects of this idea. Supporting evidence includes global symmetries, the ability of twin quivers to encode the generalized $s$-rule, and the connection between the mutations of polytopes and of configurations of webs of 5-branes suspended from 7-branes. We introduce three methods for constructing twin quivers for GTPs. We also investigate the connection between twin quivers obtained using different toric phases. Twin quivers provide a powerful new perspective on GTPs. The ideas presented in this paper may represent a step towards the generalization of brane tilings to GTPs.

Abstract:We prove a splitting formula that reconstructs the logarithmic Gromov- Witten invariants of simple normal crossing varieties from the punctured Gromov- Witten invariants of their irreducible components, under the assumption of the gluing strata being toric varieties. The formula is based on the punctured Gromov-Witten theory developed in <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2009.07720" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2009.07720">arXiv:2009.07720</a>.

On Motivic and Arithmetic Refinements of Donaldson-Thomas invariants

Abstract:In recent years, a version of enumerative geometry over arbitrary fields has been developed and studied by Kass-Wickelgren, Levine, and others, in which the counts obtained are not integers but quadratic forms. Aiming to understand the relation to other "refined invariants", and especially their possible interpretation in quantum theory, we explain how to obtain a quadratic version of Donaldson-Thomas invariants from the motivic invariants defined in the work of Kontsevich and Soibelman and pose some questions. We calculate these invariants in a few simple examples that provide standard tests for these questions, including degree zero invariants of $\mathbb A^3$ and higher-genus Gopakumar-Vafa invariants recently studied by Liu and Ruan. The comparison with known real and complex counts plays a central role throughout.

Quiver algebras and their representations for arbitrary quivers

Abstract:The quiver Yangians were originally defined for the quiver and superpotential from string theory on general toric Calabi-Yau threefolds, and serve as BPS algebras of these systems. Their characters reproduce the unrefined BPS indices, which correspond to classical Donaldson-Thomas (DT) invariants. We generalize this construction in two directions. First, we show that this definition extends to arbitrary quivers with potentials. Second, we explain how to define the characters to incorporate the refined BPS indices, which correspond to motivic DT invariants. We focus on two main classes of quivers: the BPS quivers of 4D $N=2$ theories and the quivers from the knot-quiver correspondence. The entire construction allows for straightforward generalizations to trigonometric, elliptic, and generalized cohomologies.

Abstract:The quantum cohomology algebra of the (full) flag manifold is a fundamental example in quantum cohomology theory, with connections to combinatorics, algebraic geometry, and integrable systems. Using a differential geometric approach, we give an algorithm for computing the multiplicative structure constants of this algebra (the 3-point genus zero Gromov-Witten invariants). The algorithm involves a Grobner basis calculation and the solution by quadrature of a system of differential equations. In particular we obtain quantum Schubert polynomials in a natural fashion.

Equivariant non-archimedean Arakelov theory of toric varieties

Abstract:We develop an equivariant version of the non-archimedean Arakelov theory of [BGS95] in the case of toric varieties. We define the equivariant analogues of the non-archimedean differential forms and currents appearing in loc. cit. and relate them to piecewise polynomial functions on the polyhedral complexes defining the toric models. In particular, we give combinatorial characterizations of the Green currents associated to invariant cycles and combinatorial descriptions of the arithmetic Chow groups.

A Quantum $H^*(T)$-module via Quasimap Invariants

Abstract:For $X$ a smooth projective variety, the quantum cohomology ring $QH^*(X)$ is a deformation of the usual cohomology ring $H^*(X)$, where the product structure is modified to incorporate quantum corrections. These correction terms are defined using Gromov-Witten invariants. When $X$ is toric with the geometric quotient description $V /\!/ T$, the cohomology ring $H^*(V /\!/T)$ also has the structure of a quantum $H^*(T)$-module. In this paper, we give a new deformation using quasimap invariants with a light point. This defines $H^*(T)$-module structure on $H^*(X)$ through a modified version of the WDVV equations. Using the Atiyah-Bott localization theorem, we explicitly compute this structure for the Hirzebruch surface of type 2. We conjecture that this new quantum module structure is isomorphic to the natural module structure of the Batyrev ring for a semipositive toric variety.

Abstract:We study Gromov-Witten theory of hypertoric Deligne-Mumford stacks from two points of view. From the viewpoint of representation theory, we calculate the operator of small quantum product by a divisor, following \cite{BMO}, \cite{MO}, \cite{MS}. From the viewpoint of Lawrence toric geometry, we compare Gromov-Witten invariants of a hypertoric Deligne-Mumford stack with those of its associated Lawrence toric stack.

Abstract:In <a class="link-https" data-arxiv-id="2404.19088" href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2404.19088">arXiv:2404.19088</a>, we initiated a program linking birational invariants with smooth ones and offering new interpretations of classical invariants, such as the Kervaire-Milnor invariants. Here, we rely on the profound geometric reasoning provided by Lupercio and Uribe in the early 00s to establish a connection between Chen-Ruan cohomology and several $G$-birational invariants introduced in the pioneering works Kontsevich, Kresch, Pestun, Tschinkel, along with presenting applications. Combined with the theory of atoms by Katzarkov, Kontsevich, Pantev, and Yu, the proposal in this paper program will lead to a theory of equivariant atoms.

Abstract:Let $X$ be a smooth projective surface and $D$ a smooth rational ample divisor in $X$. We prove an all-genus generalization of the genus $0$ WDVV equation for primary Gromov--Witten invariants of the local 3-fold $\mathcal{O}_X(-D)$. The proof relies on a correspondence between all-genus Gromov--Witten invariants and refined Donaldson--Thomas invariants of acyclic quivers. In particular, the corresponding BPS invariants are expressed in terms of Betti numbers of moduli spaces of quiver representations.

Abstract:We study open-closed orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants of 3-dimensional Calabi-Yau smooth toric Deligne-Mumford (DM) stacks (with possibly non-trivial generic stabilizers and semi-projective coarse moduli spaces) relative to Lagrangian branes of Aganagic-Vafa type. We present foundational materials of enumerative geometry of stable holomorphic maps from bordered orbifold Riemann surfaces to a 3-dimensional Calabi-Yau smooth toric DM stack with boundaries mapped into a Aganagic-Vafa brane. All genus open-closed Gromov-Witten invariants are defined by torus localization and depend on the choice of a framing which is an integer. We also provide another definition of all genus open-closed Gromov-Witten invariants based on algebraic relative orbifold Gromov-Witten theory; this generalizes the definition in Li-Liu-Liu-Zhou [arXiv:math/0408426] for smooth toric Calabi-Yau 3-folds. When the toric DM stack a toric Calabi-Yau 3-orbifold (i.e. when the generic stabilizer is trivial), we define generating functions of open-closed Gromov-Witten invariants or arbitrary genus g and number h of boundary circles; it takes values in the Chen-Ruan orbifold cohomology of the classifying space of a finite cyclic group of order m. We prove an open mirror theorem which relates the generating function of orbifold disk invariants to Abel-Jacobi maps of the mirror curve of the toric Calabi-Yau 3-orbifold. This generalizes a conjecture by Aganagic-Vafa [arXiv:hep-th/0012041] and Aganagic-Klemm-Vafa [arXiv:hep-th/0105045] (proved in full generality by the first and the second authors in [arXiv:1103.0693]) on the disk potential of a smooth semi-projective toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold.

Abstract:We consider the question of how geometric structures of a Deligne-Mumford stack affect its Gromov-Witten invariants. The two geometric structures studied here are {\em gerbes} and {\em root constructions}. In both cases, we explain conjectures on Gromov-Witten theory for these stacks and survey some recent progress on these conjectures.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the all genus Gromov-Witten theory for any GKM orbifold $X$. We generalize the Givental formula which is studied in the smooth case in \cite{Giv2} \cite{Giv3} \cite{Giv4} to the orbifold case. Specifically, we recover the higher genus Gromov-Witten invariants of a GKM orbifold $X$ by its genus zero data. When $X$ is toric, the genus zero Gromov-Witten invariants of $X$ can be explicitly computed by the mirror theorem studied in \cite{CCIT} and our main theorem gives a closed formula for the all genus Gromov-Witten invariants of $X$. When $X$ is a toric Calabi-Yau 3-orbifold, our formula leads to a proof of the Remodeling Conjecture in \cite{Fang-Liu-Zong3}.

Abstract:The theory of the topological vertex was originally proposed by Aganagic, Klemm, Mariño and Vafa as a means to calculate open Gromov-Witten invariants of toric Calabi-Yau threefolds. In this paper, we place the topological vertex within the context of relative Gromov-Witten invariants of log Calabi-Yau manifolds and describe how these invariants can be effectively computed via a gluing formula for the enumeration of tropical curves in a singular integral affine space. This richer context allows us to prove that the topological vertex possesses certain tropical symmetries. These symmetries are captured by the action of a quantum torus Lie algebra that is related to a quantisation of the Lie algebra of the tropical vertex group of Gross, Pandharipande and Siebert. Finally, we demonstrate how this algebra of symmetries leads to an explicit description of the topological vertex and related Gromov-Witten invariants.

Abstract:Q-Gorenstein toric contact manifolds provide an interesting class of examples of contact manifolds with torsion first Chern class. They are completely determined by certain rational convex polytopes, called toric diagrams, and arise both as links of toric isolated singularities and as prequantizations of monotone toric symplectic orbifolds. In this paper we show how the cylindrical contact homology invariants of a Q-Gorenstein toric contact manifold are related to (i) the Ehrhart (quasi-)polynomial of its toric diagram; (ii) the Chen-Ruan cohomology of any crepant toric orbifold resolution of its corresponding toric isolated singularity; (iii) the Chen-Ruan cohomology of any monotone toric symplectic orbifold base that gives rise to it through prequantization.
