Abstract:For a kind of regime-switching jump diffusion process $$(X_t,Z_t)_{t\ge 0}$$ , under some conditions, it is exponentially ergodic under the weighted total variation distance with ergodic measure $$\mu $$ . We use the Euler–Maruyama scheme of the process $$(X_t,Z_t)_{t\ge 0}$$ which has an ergodic measure $$\mu _{\eta }$$ ( $$\eta $$ is the step size of the Euler–Maruyama scheme) to approximate the ergodic measure $$\mu $$ . Furthermore, we use Stein’s method to prove that the convergence rate of $$\mu _{\eta }$$ to $$\mu $$ is $$\eta ^{\frac{1}{2}}$$ in terms of some function-class distance $$d_{{\mathcal {G}}}(\mu ,\mu _{\eta })$$ .

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the state-dependent regime switching diffusion process (X(t), R(t))_t ⩾ 0 , where the drift term does not necessarily satisfy the dissipative condition for certain states of the switching component. We develop delicately the Lindeberg replacement trick and a change-of-measure technique to obtain the convergence rate between the law of (X(t), R(t))_t⩾ 0 and that of its Euler-Maruyama scheme with constant and decreasing step sizes. This convergence rate is quantified in terms of a function-class distance d_𝒢 . Moreover, we establish the ergodicity property of the Euler-Maruyama scheme. To illustrate our theoretical findings, we present in detail an example.

Abstract:Let ( X_t,Z_t) _t≥ 0 be the regime-switching jump diffusion process with invariant measure μ . We aim to approximate μ using the Euler–Maruyama (EM) scheme with decreasing step sequence Γ =(γ _n)_n∈ℕ . Under some appropriate dissipative conditions and uniform ellipticity assumptions on the coefficients of the related stochastic differential equation (SDE), we show that the error between μ and the invariant measure associated with the EM scheme is bounded by O(√(γ _n)) . In particular, we derive a better convergence rate O(γ _n) for the additive case and the continuous case.

Abstract:The paper studies the rate of convergence of the weak Euler approximation for Itô diffusion and jump processes with Hölder-continuous generators. It covers a number of stochastic processes including the nondegenerate diffusion processes and a class of stochastic differential equations driven by stable processes. To estimate the rate of convergence, the existence of a unique solution to the corresponding backward Kolmogorov equation in Hölder space is first proved. It then shows that the Euler scheme yields positive weak order of convergence.

Abstract:A system of stochastic differential equations describing diffusive phenomena, which has arbitrary friction depending on both state and distribution is investigated. The Smoluchowski-Kramers approximation is seen to describe dynamics in the small mass limit. We obtain the limiting equation and, in particular, the addition drift terms that appear in the limiting equation are expressed in terms of the solutions to the Lyapunov matrix equation and Sylvester matrix equation. Furthermore, we provide the rate of convergence and extend the system to encompass more general interactions and noise.

Abstract:In this paper we consider the numerical solutions for a class of jump diffusions with Markovian switching. After briefly reviewing necessary notions, a new jump-adapted efficient algorithm based on the Euler scheme is constructed for approximating the exact solution. Under some general conditions, it is proved that the numerical solution through such scheme converge to the exact solution. Moreover, the order of the error between the numerical solution and the exact solution is also derived. Numerical experiments are carried out to show the computational efficiency of the approximation.

The limit of the solution in the classical sense does not exist in this case. We study a modification of the Smoluchowski-Kramers approximation. Some applications of the Smoluchowski-Kramers approximation to problems with fast oscillating or discontinuous coefficients are considered.

Abstract:We show that the solutions to the damped stochastic wave equation converge pathwise to the solution of a stochastic heat equation. This is called the Smoluchowski-Kramers approximation. Cerrai and Freidlin have previously demonstrated that this result holds in the cases where the system is exposed to additive noise in any spatial dimension or when the system is exposed to multiplicative noise and the spatial dimension is one. The current paper proves that the Smoluchowski-Kramers approximation is valid in any spatial dimension when the system is exposed to multiplicative noise.

Abstract:We present the first higher-order approximation scheme for solutions of jump-diffusion stochastic differential equations with discontinuous drift. For this transformation-based jump-adapted quasi-Milstein scheme, we prove L p -convergence order 3/4. To obtain this result, we prove that under slightly stronger assumptions (but still weaker than assumptions applied before) a related jump-adapted quasi-Milstein scheme has convergence order 3/4; in a special case it even has convergence order 1. Order 3/4 is conjectured to be optimal.

Abstract:In this paper, we explicitly calculate the quasi-potentials for the damped semilinear stochastic wave equation when the system is of gradient type. We show that in this case the infimum of the quasi-potential with respect to all possible velocities does not depend on the density of the mass and does coincide with the quasi-potential of the corresponding stochastic heat equation that one obtains from the zero mass limit. This shows in particular that the Smoluchowski-Kramers approximation can be used to approximate long time behavior in the zero noise limit, such as exit time and exit place from a basin of attraction.

Abstract:We study the validity of a Smoluchowski-Kramers approximation for a class of wave equations in a bounded domain of $\mathbb{R}^n$ subject to a state-dependent damping and perturbed by a multiplicative noise. Abstract:Convergence rate to the stationary distribution for continuous-time Markov processes can be studied using Lyapunov functions. Recent work by the author provided explicit rates of convergence in special case of a reflected jump-diffusion on a half-line. These results are proved for total variation distance and its generalizations: measure distances defined by test functions regardless of their continuity. Here we prove similar results for Wasserstein distance, convergence in which is related to convergence for continuou test functions. In some cases, including the reflected Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process, we get faster exponential convergence rates for Wasserstein distance than for total variation distance.

Abstract:In this paper, we present and analyze a compensated projected Euler-Maruyama method for stochastic differential equations with jumps. A mean square convergence result is derived under a coupled condition. This condition and some reasonable assumptions admit that the jump and diffusion coefficients can be superlinear. Moreover, since the Poisson increment has different moment properties from the Brownian increment, some new techniques are developed for convergence analysis. Finally, some numerical experiments are carried out to confirm the theoretical results.

Abstract:In this paper, we use the truncated EM method to study the finite time strong convergence for the SDEs with Poisson jumps under the Khasminskii-type condition. We establish the finite time $ \mathcal L ^r (r \ge 2) $ convergence rate when the drift and diffusion coefficients satisfy super-linear condition and the jump coefficient satisfies the linear growth condition. The result shows that the optimal $\mathcal L ^r$-convergence rate is close to $ 1/ (1 + \gamma)$, where $\gamma$ is the super-linear growth constant. This is significantly different from the result on SDEs without jumps. When all the three coefficients of SDEs are allowing to grow super-linearly, the $ \mathcal L^r (0<r<2)$ strong convergence results are also investigated and the optimal strong convergence rate is shown to be not greater than $1/4$. Moreover, we prove that the truncated EM method preserve nicely the mean square exponentially stability and asymptotic boundedness of the underlying SDEs with Piosson jumps. Several examples are given to illustrate our results.
