Abstract:We prove that a plurisbharmonic function on a bounded domain $\Omega$ in $\mathbb{C}^n$ is a VMO (Vanishing Mean Oscillation) function if and only if its Lelong number at each point of $\Omega$ vanishes. This result contributes to a better understanding of the behavior of singular plurisubharmonic functions.

Abstract:The aim of this paper is to study the residual Monge-Ampère mass of a plurisubharmonic function with isolated singularity at the origin in $\mathbb{C}^2$. We prove that the residual mass is zero if its Lelong number is zero at the origin, provided that it is $S^1$-invariant. This result answers the zero mass conjecture raised by Guedj and Rashkovskii in this special case. More generally, we obtain an estimate on the residual mass by the maximal Lelong number and Lelong number at the origin.

Abstract:We consider various notions of vanishing mean oscillation on a (possibly unbounded) domain $\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^n$, and prove an analogue of Sarason's theorem, giving sufficient conditions for the density of bounded Lipschitz functions in the nonhomogeneous space $\rm{vmo}(\Omega)$. We also study $\rm{cmo}(\Omega)$, the closure in $\rm{bmo}(\Omega)$ of the continuous functions with compact support in $\Omega$. Using these approximation results, we prove that there is a bounded extension from $\rm{vmo}(\Omega)$ and $\rm{cmo}(\Omega)$ to the corresponding spaces on $\mathbb{R}^n$, if and only if $\Omega$ is a locally uniform domain.

Abstract:We study the decreasing rearrangement of functions in VMO, and show that for rearrangeable functions, the mapping f ↦ f ⁎ preserves vanishing mean oscillation. Moreover, as a map on BMO, while bounded, it is not continuous, but continuity holds at points in VMO (under certain conditions). This also applies to the symmetric decreasing rearrangement. Many examples are included to illustrate the results.

Abstract:We study the possible singularities of an m-subharmonic function phi along a complex submanifold V of a compact Kahler manifold, finding a maximal rate of growth for phi which depends only on m and k, the codimension of V. When k < m, we show that phi has at worst log poles along V, and that the strength of these poles is moreover constant along V. This can be thought of as an analogue of Siu's theorem.

Abstract:Based on Harnack’s inequality and convex analysis we show that each plurisubharmonic function is locally BUO (bounded upper oscillation) with respect to polydiscs of finite type but not for arbitrary polydiscs. We also show that each function in the Lelong class is globally BUO with respect to all polydiscs. A dimension-free BUO estimate is obtained for the logarithm of the modulus of a complex polynomial. As an application we obtain an approximation formula for the Bergman kernel that preserves all directional Lelong numbers. For smooth plurisubharmonic functions we derive a new asymptotic identity for the Bergman kernel from Berndtsson’s complex Brunn–Minkowski theory, which also yields a slightly better version of the sharp Ohsawa–Takegoshi extension theorem in some special cases.

Abstract:As a significant application of the duality theory between real Hardy spaces $H^1(\mathbb{R}^n)$ and $\mathrm{BMO}(\mathbb{R}^n)$, Fefferman and Stein developed a representation theorem for $\mathrm{BMO}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ by utilizing the Riesz transforms $(n\geq 1)$. L. Carleson provided a constructive proof for the case $n=1$. In this article, we propose a representation theorem for $\mathrm{VMO}(\mathbb{S})$ using Carleson's construction and demonstrate a representation theorem for $\mathrm{VMO}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ through an iterative process. Additionally, we provide a brand-new characterization of $\mathrm{VMO}$ as an application of our results.

Abstract:Let $\Omega^+\subset\mathbb R^{n+1}$ be a vanishing Reifenberg flat domain such that $\Omega^+$ and $\Omega^-=\mathbb R^{n+1}\setminus\overline {\Omega^+}$ have joint big pieces of chord-arc subdomains and the outer unit normal to $\Omega^+$ belongs to $VMO(\omega^+)$, where $\omega^\pm$ is the harmonic measure of $\Omega^\pm$. Up to now it was an open question if these conditions imply that $\log\dfrac{d\omega^-}{d\omega^+} \in VMO(\omega^+)$. In this paper we answer this question in the negative by constructing an appropriate counterexample in $\mathbb R^2$, with the additional property that the outer unit normal to $\Omega^+$ is constant $\omega^+$-a.e. in $\partial\Omega^+$.

Abstract:In this article we establish a vanishing theorem for singular Liouville equation with quantized singular source. If a blowup sequence tends to infinity near a quantized singular source and the blowup solutions violate the spherical Harnack inequality around the singular source (non-simple blow-ups), the Laplacian of a coefficient function must tend to zero. This seems to be the first second order estimates for Liouville equation with quantized sources and non-simple blow-ups. This result as well as the key ideas of the proof would be extremely useful for various applications.

Abstract:A conjecture of Voisin states that two points on a smooth projective complex variety whose algebra of holomorphic forms is generated in degree 2 are rationally equivalent to each other if and only if their difference lies in the third step of the Bloch-Beilinson filtration. In this note, we formulate a generalization that allows for rational equivalence of effective zero-cycles of higher degree, at the expense of looking deeper in the Bloch-Beilinson filtration. In the first half, we provide evidence in support of this conjecture in the case of abelian varieties and projective hyper-Kähler manifolds. Notably, we give explicit criteria for rational equivalence of effective zero-cycles on moduli spaces of semistable sheaves on K3 surfaces, generalizing that of Marian-Zhao. In the second half, in an effort to explain our main conjecture, we formulate a second conjecture predicting when the diagonal of a smooth projective variety belongs to a subalgebra of the ring of correspondences generated in low degree.

Abstract:We associate an $L$-function $L^{\mathrm{near}}(M,s)$ to any geometric motive over a global field $K$ in the sense of Voevodsky. This is a Dirichlet series which converges in some half-plane and has an Euler product factorisation. When $M$ is the dual of $M(X)$ for $X$ a smooth projective variety, $L^{\mathrm{near}}(M,s)$ differs from the alternating product of the zeta functions defined by Serre in 1969 only at places of bad reduction; in exchange, it is multiplicative with respect to exact triangles. If $K$ is a function field over $\mathbf{F}_q$, $L{\mathrm{near}}(M,s)$ is a rational function in $q^{-s}$ and enjoys a functional equation. The techniques use the full force of Ayoub's six (and even seven) operations.

Abstract:m -subharmonic functions are the right class of admissible solutions to the complex Hessian equation. In this paper, we generalize the definition of the complex Hessian operator to some unbounded m -subharmonic functions, and we prove that the complex Hessian operator is continuous on the monotonically decreasing sequences of m -subharmonic functions. Moreover we establish the Lelong-Jensen type formula and introduce the Lelong number for m -subharmonic functions. A useful inequality for the mixed Hessian operator is showed.

Abstract:The purpose of this article is to study the residual Monge-Ampère mass of a plurisubharmonic function with an isolated unbounded locus. A general decomposition formula for the residual mass is obtained, under the Sasakian structure of the unit sphere. In complex dimension two, we further obtain an upper-bound estimate, provided with the uniform directional Lipschitz continuity. As an application, the zero mass conjecture is confirmed, if the function further has a single frequency on its alternating part.

Abstract:In this paper we introduce an equivalence relation on the classes of almost periodic functions of a real or complex variable which is used to refine Bochner's result that characterizes these spaces of functions. In fact, with respect to the topology of uniform convergence, we prove that the limit points of the family of translates of an almost periodic function are precisely the functions which are equivalent to it, which leads us to a characterization of almost periodicity. In particular we show that any exponential sum which is equivalent to the Riemann zeta function, $\zeta(s)$, can be uniformly approximated in $\{s=\sigma+it:\sigma>1\}$ by certain vertical translates of $\zeta(s)$.

Abstract:We show that for a uniformly elliptic divergence form operator $L$, defined in an open set $\Omega$ with Ahlfors-David regular boundary, BMO-solvability implies scale invariant quantitative absolute continuity (the weak-$A_\infty$ property) of elliptic-harmonic measure with respect to surface measure on $\partial \Omega$. We do not impose any connectivity hypothesis, qualitative or quantitative; in particular, we do not assume the Harnack Chain condition, even within individual connected components of $\Omega$. In this generality, our results are new even for the Laplacian. Moreover, we obtain a converse, under the additional assumption that $\Omega$ satisfies an interior Corkscrew condition, in the special case that $L$ is the Laplacian.

Abstract:We prove the reversed Alexandrov–Fenchel inequality for mixed Monge–Ampère masses of plurisubharmonic functions, which generalizes a result of Demailly and Pham. As applications to convex geometry, this gives a complex analytic proof of the reversed Alexandrov–Fenchel inequality for mixed covolumes, which generalizes recent results in convex geometry of Kaveh–Khovanskii, Khovanskii–Timorin, Milman–Rotem and Schneider on reversed (or complemented) Brunn–Minkowski and Alexandrov–Fenchel inequalities. Also for toric plurisubharmonic functions in the Cegrell class, we confirm Demailly's conjecture on the convergence of higher Lelong numbers under the canonical approximation.

On the number of zeros of $L-$functions attached to cusp forms of half-integral weight

Abstract:Meher et al. [Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 147 (2019)] have recently established that $L-$functions attached to certain cusp forms of half-integral weight have infinitely many zeros on the critical line. Kim [J. Numb. Th. 253 (2023)] obtained analogous results for $L-$functions attached to cusp forms twisted by an additive character $e\left(\frac{p}{q}n\right)$, $\frac{p}{q}\in\mathbb{Q}$. We extend the results of these authors by giving a lower bound for the number of such zeros. We start by developing a variant of a method of de la Val\'ee Poussin which seems to have interest as it avoids the evaluation of exponential sums. We finish the paper with an improvement of our first estimate by using Lekkerkerker's variant of the Hardy-Littlewood method.
