Abstract:We consider a 1D $2\times 2$ matrix-valued operator \eqref{System0} with two semiclassical Schrödinger operators on the diagonal entries and small interactions on the off-diagonal ones. When the two potentials cross at a turning point with contact order $n$, the corresponding two classical trajectories at the crossing level intersect at one point in the phase space with contact order $2n$. We compute the transfer matrix at this point between the incoming and outgoing microlocal solutions and apply it to the semiclassical distribution of resonances at the energy crossing level. It is described in terms of a generalized Airy function. This result generalizes \cite{FMW1} to the tangential crossing and \cite{AFH1} to the crossing at a turning point.
What problem does this paper attempt to address?
The problem that this paper attempts to solve is how the semiclassical resonance width transitions from exponential decay to polynomial decay at the classical trajectory intersection. Specifically, it studies the crossing behavior of the corresponding classical trajectories in the phase space when two potential energies \(V_1\) and \(V_2\) intersect at a turning point at the energy level \(E_0\), and calculates the transfer matrix at this intersection. This transfer matrix describes the relationship between the incoming and outgoing microlocal solutions and is applied to the study of semiclassical resonance distribution.
### Main problems
1. **Asymptotic distribution of resonance width**: The main objective of the paper is to study the asymptotic distribution of the semiclassical resonance width of the matrix Schrödinger operator \(P\) at the energy - crossing level \(E_0\). In particular, how the resonance width transitions from exponential decay to polynomial decay when two potential energies intersect at a turning point.
2. **Calculation of transfer matrix**: In order to study the asymptotic behavior of the resonance width, the paper calculates the transfer matrix at the intersection. This transfer matrix describes the linear relationship between the incoming and outgoing microlocal solutions.
### Key results
- **Order of resonance width**: The paper proves that at the energy - crossing level \(E_0\), the order of the resonance width is \(h^{1+\frac{2}{2n + 1}}\), where \(n\) is the contact order of the potential energies \(V_1\) and \(V_2\) at the intersection. The coefficient can be expressed in terms of the generalized Airy function.
- **Asymptotic behavior of transfer matrix**: The asymptotic behavior of the transfer matrix \(T(E, h)\) is:
\[
iT(E, h)=I_2 - i\kappa_n(\lambda)h^{\frac{1}{2n+1}}\begin{pmatrix}0&1\\1&0\end{pmatrix}+O(h^{\frac{2-\epsilon}{2n+1}})
\]
where \(\kappa_n(\lambda)\) is defined by the generalized Airy function.
### Methods and steps
1. **Assumptions**: The paper assumes that the potential energy functions \(V_1\) and \(V_2\) are real - analytic functions and bounded in the complex domain. Moreover, it is assumed that the contact order at the intersection is \(n\).
2. **Construction of exact solutions**: The transfer matrix is studied by constructing exact solutions. These exact solutions include incoming and outgoing microlocal solutions.
3. **Calculation of transfer matrix**: The transfer matrix \(T(E, h)\) is calculated by using the properties of the exact solutions.
4. **Asymptotic analysis**: Through asymptotic analysis, the asymptotic behavior of the transfer matrix is obtained, and the asymptotic distribution of the resonance width is further deduced.
### Conclusion
The paper successfully describes the transition process of the semiclassical resonance width from exponential decay to polynomial decay at the energy - crossing level \(E_0\). This result not only generalizes previous studies on non - crossing and transverse crossing, but also provides a theoretical basis for related problems in molecular physics and quantum chemistry.
